A Spooky Halloween Tale

*Clears throat and positions a flashlight beneath my face*

Let me tell you a story.

It was a few weeks ago now. So basically, I live next to a small train station (it's not really a station, it's more of just a platform where trains stop at to pick up and drop of passengers) and I was getting on a train that'd take me to Gloucestershire, (A part of Western England) to visit grandparents by myself. They live a couple of hours away by car, so we only get to see them a few times a year. Anyway, I got on this train pretty early, around 9am - I've been doing a lot of solo travelling lately for the sake of experience, since my parents say that they'd be more comfortable with me travelling by myself to other countries if I had a bit more experience travelling around my home country first, so I'd been getting good at buying tickets and travelling via railway, although that doesn't mean I'd been getting any more comfortable with being around random strangers.
After getting on the train and finding a seat to myself, it all seemed to be going pretty well. There wasn't even many passengers on board, probably around 30 or 40 on the whole train, although more were certain to join as we stopped at other stations. I got out my phone, connected to the WiFi, and opened up Discord to see if anyone was online in TKK. Everything was going alright for about 45 minutes into the journey, and the train had filled up a bit with about 20 extra passengers by then. We were travelling through the middle of the country at this point - the only thing you could really see out of the window are green hills, a few lakes, and the occasional old-fashioned mansion or castle. I was shocked a bit when the world outside suddenly flashed to black - it took me a moment to realise that we had passed into a tunnel that I hadn't seen coming. I sighed in relief gently, then looked back at my phone - and not surprisingly, Discord was playing up again. I spent about half a minute waiting for the connection to return, but to no avail. Putting my phone back into my pocket, I realised that we were still travelling through the same tunnel, which I thought was odd. Trying to avoid eye contact with the other passengers, I just glanced down at my hands which were idly laying on the table in front of me. Everything seemed silent for a moment, and that's when everything went to Hell - perhaps literally. The lights on the train shut off for a moment - causing me to jump - and a sudden, ear-piercing scream filled the cabin. A few seconds later, the lights flickered back on. And that's when I saw that the passengers had vanished - and an unholy amount of blood was smeared across the walls, windows, and even ceiling, to an extent. Fighting the instinct to throw up, I quickly got to my feet, only to meet the shocked gaze of another passenger, an older man. He looked even more shocked than I was. With the both of us too stunned to say anything, we ambled toward eachother and he put a hand on my shoulder weakly - he looked like he was about to faint, so I held onto him carefully to support his balance. Just as I was about to form a word, the lights shut off again and another ear-shattering scream filled the train - but this one wasn't the scream of a human. I didn't know what it was, but I knew for sure that it was the scream of no person. What's worse, I felt the other passenger suddenly and quickly grabbed away from me, before the lights suddenly turned back on. As my eyes readjusted, it didn't take even a second to see even more blood, dripping from the walls of the train. Stumbling for balance, I made my way to the closest door. It seemed I was the last person left. I almost fell to the floor as the mechanical screeching of the train echoed in my ears, meaning that the train was quickly coming to a stop. If that was the case, then I thought that maybe I could break through a window and escape. As I gasped for air and slammed a hand against the door, the lights turned off once again. How are we even still going through this tunnel? I clenched my teeth, expecting to receive the sudden and same fate as the other passengers - but instead, the lights come back on. As I slowly and reluctantly opened my eyes again, I noticed that there was writing on the door that I was leaning against. As I read the letters, (which were written in blood, might I add) I could just about make out the words... 'behind you'.

And that's when I felt it's breath, on my neck. Swallowing my fear, I slowly turn around and meet the cold stare of the most hellish creation that the universe has ever made. A tall, bony creature, with slimy, puss-covered pink skin, two lidless, beady eyes and a horrifically wide mouth, filled with short, stubby teeth and one or two sharp ones, formed into what could only be described as a grin. The icy fear in me turns to rage, and I stare back at it, clenching my fist.

... The end
In case you didn't know, none of that stuff actually happened. I just told the story in first person, because it makes it scarier. 👻

Anyway, I hope I didn't give anyone a fear of trains X3
Happy Halloween!
