Chapter 4 - Dinner

Silence spread through the room. Then two rather ginger twins popped into the room, one either side of me.

"So this is your sister ay Potter?" One said, looking at me. "I'm Fred and this is George."

"If you're all done talking now, do you want to hear something a little more interesting?" George asked us.

"Of course." I smiled back.

The six of us made our way to the landing between the two sets of stairs, the house-elf was nowhere to be seen. We stood over the top of the bottom set of stairs, looking down at the door to the room full of the members of The Order Of The Phoenix.

The twins revealed a fake ear attached to a string and began to lower it to the door. Once it reached the floor it acted like a real ear, letting us listen in on the argument contained behind the door.

"If it wasn't for Harry and Elizabeth we wouldn't even know Voldemort was back." A voice stated, sounding like Sirius. "They're not children Molly-"

"They're not adults either!" Mrs. Weasley reminded him. "They're not James and Lily!"

"They're not your children!" Sirius interrupted Mrs. Weasley.

"They're as good as!" She answered. "Who else have they got?"

"They've got me!"

It felt good knowing I had somewhat of a family, a very small family, but still a family. I'd never spoken to Sirius before, but after Harry told me he was my uncle I started to write to him. The only reason I had actually heard his voice before was because of some video I watched of him when I was in the orphanage.

"Snape's a part of the order?" Harry asked, breaking me from my thoughts.

"Git." Ron called Snape.

Before we could continue to listen to the convocation a fluffy ginger cat appeared at the bottom of the stairs, watching the ear, about to pounce. Then, using it's paws, it pulled the ear to the floor and started attacking it.

Everyone began to whisper-shout at the cat, telling it to leave the ear alone, but no luck. "Crookshanks stop!" Hermione hissed, it must have been her cat. A few seconds later the cat left, taking the ear with it.

"Hermione I hate your cat." I told her, looking up to face Ginny, not Hermione. "When did you get here?" I asked her.

"A few minutes ago."

"Bad Crookshanks!" Hermione called to her cat.

-

"We''ll be eating down in the kitchen." Mrs. Weasley called as the seven of us as Harry, Ginny, Hermione, Ron and I came running down the stairs. As we did Fred and George appeared either side of Mrs. Weasley, who jumped a mile. Once she had settled she turned and whacked each twin. "Just because you're allowed to use magic now doesn't mean you have to whip your wands out for everything."

"Hi mum." Ginny smiled as she walked past her. Harry and I stood out in the hallway as Mrs. Weasley blocked the entrance to the room.

"You hungry?" Mrs. Weasley asked Harry and I.

"A little, they don't exactly serve the best food in the orphanage." I sighed, the food there was awful. Basically soup and rice every single day.

After that I turned to talk to Harry, who was standing next to me hugging Sirius Black. As they hugged Sirius spotted me and grinned. Once they finished hugging, he stood smiling.

"Elizabeth Potter." He beamed, I walked over to him and he hugged me.

"I'm glad to see you after all these years." Sirius smiled. "The last time I saw you was when you and Harry where little." He beamed, pulling me away from him.

"I can't exactly say I remember so I'll just nod and agree." I laughed, Harry and Sirius joined in.

"Why don't we get some food?" Sirius turned and headed into the room behind us.

-

Everyone sat around a long wooden table, and by everyone I mean myself, Harry, Ginny, Fred, George, Hermione, Ron, Mr and Mrs. Weasley, Sirius, Nimphadora, Kingsley and Remus Lupin, who was an ex-professor of the Dark Arts at Hogwarts, and also a werewolf. Mad-Eye was there too, but he was standing at the back of the room.

"This is very, very peculiar." Mr. Weasley stated. "It seems your hearing in the Ministry is to be before the entire Wizengamot." He explained to Harry and I.

"What? I thought it was just a small trial?" I asked. Hogwarts expulsions were never presented in front of the Wizengamot.

The Wizengamot were Briain's highest court of law and is made up of about fifty members, I think I remember reading somewhere that the average Wizengamot member was 87 years old, so you can imagine how they must feel about a young witch and wizard trial who are not liked at all throughout the Ministry.

After the graveyard, on behalf of the Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge, the Daily Prophet began to publish things about Harry, Dumbledore and I being liars, but how could Cedric being dead be a lie?

"I guess they changed their minds." Mr. Weasley lifted his eyebrows.

"I don't understand. What has the Ministry got against us?" Harry asked with a confused look on his face.

"Haven't you heard?" I replied, surely Harry would have heard about the newspapers.

"Show him." Mad-Eye said, turning to us at the table. "He'll find out soon enough."

By this point the room had gone silent, everyone hesitant to show Harry what he wouldn't want to see.

I reached across and grabbed a newspaper from the other side of the table, then I handed it to Harry. The newspaper had a photo of Harry and I spread across the front page with the title "The children who lie." above it.

"He's been attacking Dumbledore too." I added, watching Harry study the paper.

"Fudge is using all his power, including his influence at the Daily Prophet, to smear anyone who claims the Dark Lord has returned." Sirius explained to Harry.

"Why?" Harry asked, looking up from the article to Sirius.

"He thinks Dumbledore's after his job. Load of rubbish." I scoffed.

"But that's insane." Harry exclaimed. "No one in their right mind could believe that-"

"Exactly the point. Fudge isn’t in his right mind." Lupin added, raising his hands. "It's been twisted and warped by fear." Lupin paused for a moment before continuing. "Now fear makes people do terrible things Harry. The last time Voldemort gained power he almost destroyed everything we hold most dear. Now he’s returned, and I’m afraid the minister will do almost anything to avoid facing that terrifying truth."

"Which is that Voldemort is still alive." I stated. "He just doesn't believe us, so he's forcing the rest of the wizarding world to believe that we're lying too."

"We think Voldemort wants to build up his army again. Fourteen years ago, he had huge numbers at his command. And not just witches and wizards, but all manner of dark creatures. He’s been recruiting heavily, and we’ve been attempting to do the same. But gathering followers isn’t the only thing he’s interested in." Sirius stopped, and thought for a second before slowly continuing. "We believe, Voldemort may be after something."

"Sirius." Mad-Eye said sternly, warning him not to continue.

"Something he didn't get last time." Sirius finished.

"Like what? Something that will make him stronger?" I asked Sirius, ignoring Mad-Eye. Honestly, I didn't understand why they would hide things from us, I mean, we are the ones who defeated him all those years ago. Whose to say we can't do it again?

"Or like a weapon?" Harry added to my question.

"No that's enough. They're just children." Mrs. Weasley interrupted just as Sirius went to answer us, she looked upset that Sirius had even told us Voldemort was after something. "You say more and you might as well induct them into the Order."

"Good. I want to join. If Voldemort’s raising an army, then I want to fight. " Harry snapped.

"So do I. If you think I'm going to let Voldemort prance around the place thinking he's all great and mighty then you don't know me at all. And I think you do with the extra help." I smiled.
