Chapter 34

"Michael!" I yelled. I lunged at him the second I took in who it was. Despite it only being about 2 weeks away from each other, it feels like it has been 2 years. My grip around his torso was the tightest it's ever been, like if I let go he'd somehow escape from me again. I think that what had made me feel so overwhelmed was the fact that he came here by surprise.

"It seems like you've missed me just a little." He chuckled, hugging me just as tight. I pulled back from him and rested my hands on his upper arms, not even trying to fight back the huge grin on my face. Before I could get to it myself, he leaned in, kissing me like what had felt for the first time all over again. No matter how cliché it had sounded, which was something I was apparently good at doing, it was the truth.

My hands moved from his arms and hooked around his neck, pulling him closer. His longed scent was finally around me as he deepened it a little more, yet I pulled myself away quicker than I had intended to. I watched as he took a hand of my waist and fixed his messy hair, it didn't do much of difference, if anything it was a little more tousled. From there he picked up my hand from off his shoulder and intertwined our fingers together.

"Why didn't you tell me you were coming?" I scolded, yet still beamed my smile at the fact that he was actually here.

"That would've ruined the surprise!" He laughed at my question then his expression suddenly dropped as he looked over my shoulder. I gave him a curious look then turned over my shoulder, getting a glimpse view of Cas before he had taken a step passed me and stood outside the door. He looked between Michael and I curiously, as if he was trying to process what was happening in this situation.

"I'm meeting up with Ryan soon so I'm just on my way out, sorry to leave so quickly." He looked at me with a slightly confused face, but still managed to pull an effortlessly polite smile.

"It's alright." I assured. I could feel an awkward tension forming as Michael squeezed my hand, it was then when I realized Michael was completely unaware of who Cas exactly was. "Oh!" I suddenly said as I came to my realization. "Cas, this is Michael. Michael, Cas." I spoke, introducing them.

"I'm her boyfriend." Michael said in a passive aggressive tone, letting go of my hand and throwing his arm around my shoulder. His smile and tone were two opposites as his over protective instinct kicked in. I looked at Cas, who I could tell was about to start laughing, but before he could he cleared his throat.

"I've heard a lot of good things about you." He nodded, now returning to his normal state. Cas turned to me once again and gave me a small wave. "Sorry again to just run off, maybe I'll stop by tomorrow!" He shouted back as he already began to make his way across the road.

"See you then!" I yelled back, being tugged through my doorway by Michael. I shut the door behind me and turned around, finding Michael blankly staring at me with his arms crossed. I cocked my head to the side, ready for any lecture he was going to give me that he didn't need to tell me.

"Why was he here?" He questioned letting his arms fall to his sides. My lips curled into a smile and I began laughing lightly. "Why are you laughing?" He asked, losing seriousness in his voice. I continued on and took a step towards him, throwing my arms back around his neck and standing on my tip toes to reach his ear.

"Let's just say he would be more interested in you than me." I whispered, biting back my lip as I waited for his reaction. He jerked back from me yet still remained in contact.

"He's-" He raised an eye brow at me as I rolled my eyes jokingly and cut him off.

"Yes. Now can we move on? I've missed your lame stories." I taunted, taking his hand and leading him to the couch.

"My stories are not lame!" He defended himself as he stopped in his tracks. My face fell and I tried my best to turn serious, but I was still giddy from having Michael in my presence.

"You told me an hour long story about how you went to the grocery store to get cinnamon waffles and came back home with blueberry pancakes." I told him as I remembered back on the day he actually told me it. He had joined me at work one night and I hadn't needed to do anything but work the register, but who comes to a bookstore on a Sunday at 8pm?

"That was a great story." He declared, sitting down next to me. I shook my head and half smiled back to him, leaning back against the arm rest as I propped my legs up on Michael's thighs.

"No it wasn't." I said, scrunching my nose and shaking my head again.

"Yes it-" He began, furrowing his eyebrows at me.

"Shut up!" I shouted, laughing while the words spilled out. He frowned at me in a playful manner, then began to stick his bottom lip out. "Don't do that." I warned, him knowing that I couldn't help but be happy with him when he did that. He kept going, but this time moving closer to me. "Stop." I plainly said, trying my best to sound serious. He eventually fell onto me, letting his head rest on my stomach and his long legs tangled with mine. I reached down and played with the hair on the back of his head as that was the only part of it I could see. He sighed out and I could feel his chest ride and fall against the side of me.

"I missed you." He yawned. I wouldn't be surprised if he fell asleep right then and there, he did look a little beat. He sat up, crawling over the extra space he needed to where I was now the one being engulfed. "What have you been up to?" He asked, wrapping his arms tight around me once again.

"Nothing." I slowly said, as it was the truth. I hadn't been doing very much. Most of it was hanging out with Cas around my place or at the coffee shop at work. "How was the drive?" I looked up at him to find him already peering down at me, eyes heavy.

"Long." He admitted, batting his eyes a few times. "I almost flew out here, but your mom had the idea of packing up everything here and loading it into the truck for free. I knew there wasn't much, and I really wanted to see you, so I left yesterday and here I am. With a giant, empty truck, may I add." He gazed at me, as if he was trying to imprint what I looked like into his memory. I smiled at his small action then ran through his words over my head.

"Packing up things here?" I questioned, completely confused as to why we needed to load things into the truck instead of actually making this house suitable for normal living. "Why would we do that?" He loosened his grip on me as I backed up from him, wanting an explanation. He seemed just as curious as I was, so I let him go on.

"Did your mom not tell you?" He asked, widening his eyes.

"No?" I said with the same tone as his. His lips pursed into a straight line as I notice his breathe hitch slightly.

"Well, shit. Maybe it was supposed to be a surprise." He reached up and rubbed the back of his neck and looked away from me. I brought both of my hands to the side of his face, pulling his attention back towards me.

"What is going on?" I switched between his eyes that had seemed to become greener than I remembered. It was weird how something even so familiar could be changed by the lack of memory. He blinked a few times, knowing that I was waiting anxiously for his answer.

"Maddie, you're moving back."
