Chapter 28

It was officially my last night being home. In about 24 hours I would be in my brand new home all by myself. I let the last two weeks just drag on, by now I was ready and wanted to leave. I spent all of my time basically clinging on to my friends' legs. They left just shortly over an hour ago and I was home alone. My mom was working late, again, and I wasn't expecting her to be home until passed midnight. It wasn't too great of an idea to stay up and wait for her since my flight was at 7am, but I could always sleep on the plane and when I settled in.

The sun had gone down and rain was pounding down on my roof. It wasn't exactly the perfect ending to my last day in the town, but it was good enough. I had finally stopped crying, but my heart was already aching from missing my friends. I wasn't sad though, I was crying more over the shared memories and how much we loved each other. Sappy, yes, but it was something that needed to be brought to my attention. I hadn't realized how much I loved these 3 girls and how much they really helped me until last night and I hated that I failed to realize it now, but they understood. They always did.

I was cuddled into the side of my couch with a blanket thrown over my shoulders. I flipped on one of my favorite movies as a kid that I had skimmed over and luckily it was just starting. I had ordered a pizza about 5 minutes ago that was brought back into my memory by my grumbling stomach. I ignored it and rested my head on a pillow as I watched the movie I'd seen a hundred times.

About 10 minutes passed when my attention was jerked away from the TV. I heard the doorbell ring twice, almost unnoticeable from the amount of heavy rain. I tossed my blanket off and stood up, making my way towards the door. I jumped slightly at the sound of pounding on the door which made me speed up my steps.

"I'm coming, I'm coming." I said under my breath. I fidgeted in my wallet for the ten dollars that I needed to pay with and unlocked my door. The knocking continued and I yanked the door open, not in the mood to deal with a agitated teenager that was being rained on. "Sorry about the-" I stopped myself once I realized that to my surprise I wasn't face to face with a delivery boy, but with Michael. A soaking wet one, may I add. My eyes widened at the sight and I tensed up lightly as the cold air hit my skin. "Why are you-"

"Stop." He cut me off, running his fingers through his damp hair. If I wasn't greeted by an irritated deliver boy, it was an irritated Michael. Which was even worse. "I'm going to say what I need to before you continue any further, alright?" He sternly said. My breath hitched and I quickly nodded my head.

"Go ahead." I mumbled. He sighed and looked around, as if he was physically searching for what he wanted to say to me. He locked his eyes with mine and let his arms hit his sides in an obvious sign of frustration.

"I-I can taste you in my cheeks, and, and on my tongue and you're still on my lips and I feel you in my veins and in my bones and in my blood and Maddie Grace, whether you like it or not, I will continue to be hopelessly and fatally in love with you." He looked at me as if the image of me was making him sick, like he was confused as to how I was in his presence.

I was completely caught up in his words. I had never expected anything like that to come out of his mouth. I was in shock, I really was. This time I knew he meant it. I knew it was real and I knew I felt the same exact way back. It hurt my heart to see him in the lost state because of me and that's when i realized I was just as lost as him.

I nodded my head, biting my bottom lip to swallow down the lump in my throat. I didn't exactly know why I wanted to cry, I just did. Whether it was happiness or sadness, it was definitely something. I watched him as he parted his lips to say more and lower his tone of voice.

"I completely understand if you don't feel the same way. But when I said it to you the first time and you said it back, I didn't it was real. The feeling you gave me was so-"

"I love you too." I muttered. He stood up straighter and let the annoyed yet sorrow look fall off his face.

"What?" He said softly. I looked up at him through my eyelashes and felt myself becoming more vulnerable by the second. "Are you sure?"

"Don't ask dumb questions." I spoke louder this time. His lips slowly pulled into a sincere smile, as mine did too. "Come in." I whispered, motioning him inside. He hesitated slightly then stepped inside. As I shut the door I heard him slip of his shoes and jacket, but I felt his stare on me.

I swiveled around to say a few things to him, but was pinned up against the wooden door before anything could actually come out. He was just centimeters away from my face and the lips I craved for the past weeks were right in front of me, literally.

"What are you waiting for?" My sudden burst of confidence spoke for me. I had missed out on this for almost a whole month and there was no way I was going to cease the moment. His arms wrapped around my waist, pulling me closer to him. He brought his lips towards my ear, speaking gently

"Can I?" His lips brushed over my neck after every syllable that rolled off his tongue. The shivers he once gave me before all came rushing back.

"Can you what?" I asked in the same hushed tone as him as I tangled my fingers in his hair. He kissed my neck once, automatically finding my sweet spot and I melted into him.

"Can I kiss you?" I smiled lightly even though he wasn't able to see it. I pulled back from him, not dropping my expression. I placed my hands on either side of his face looked back and forth between his eyes.

"You don't need to ask, but yes." I delicately nodded then became more assured with my answer. I grinned as his smile reached his eyes and his dull eyes I'd seen minutes before had found a new light.

We both crashed into each other at the same time and removed any space between us. His kisses were passionate and deep, something I'd experienced with him a few other times, but nothing compared to this. We moved slowly and felt as if the world had stopped. We had all the time and it was just for us. I had never felt more consumed for him more than I do now, I was yearning for him. He squeezed my hip once, making me jump. We both began giggling over our actions, which then gave his access to explore the rest of my mouth. He tugged at my hips in an attempt to bring me closer to him. The feeling of him fighting a smile against my lips was the most incredible feeling. Just the thought of knowing that the boy you love is just as crazy for you as you are for him was enough to set me off.

He bit my lip as he began to pull away and lead me my towards my couch. He sat down slowly, pulling me into his lap. He didn't hesitate to lock back onto my jaw line, sweetly kissing all the way down my neck. As he reached my collar bone I tilted my head back slightly, still tugging at his hair to encourage him on. His fingers pulled at the strap of my tank top and dragged it off my shoulder. He kissed my shoulder once then came back to my lips. He became more hungry as I felt his cold fingertips run up my back slowly. The touch on my back and the boy on my lips caused me to roll my hips slightly on his which was enough to push him over. He pulled back immediately, but kept the distance close.

"Want to take this upstairs?" He chuckled. I took a deep breath, knowing exactly what he meant. I nodded and I interlocked our fingers and gently smiled at him while still looking down at his lips. I carefully rolled off of him and led to the stairs, but he stopped me before going up the steps and continued on with the kiss.

We both turned from passionate to needy in a split second. He hands roamed up my sides and stopped right underneath the laced edge of my bra. As I wrapped my arms tighter around his neck I could feel his fingers flick the hem every so often. He began to move back wards and towards my stairs as he fiddled with the bottom of my shirt. I stopped walking as it hit the bottom of the stairs, letting him peel the clothing off me and toss it in a random direction.

We walked slowly up the steps as we stayed attached, stopping once to let Michael remove his own shirt. He led me down the hallway, giggling once as he bumped me into a small table. Before we had even reached my room he began fumbling with the button and zipper on my shorts. He'd successful taken them off along with a few steps from me and left them scattered across the house just like the other articles of clothing. He cupped the back of my thighs, urging me to jump. I wrapped my legs around his bare torso as he turned the knob to my room. He gently placed me on the bed, finally resisting back from me. His eyes quickly scanned down my nearly exposed body, making me feel flustered about me being so open. He hovered over me once he took notice of my vulnerable state. He looked me dead in the eyes, letting the silence finally be heard around us.

"You're beautiful." He paused to let the smile on his face grow. "And I'm serious. I like you better without all that stuff on your face." He mumbled in my ear. He took a deep breath in and let out a shaky laugh. "I also like you better without clothes."

"Michael!" I whined, losing the seriousness of the moment.

"I would say I'm sorry," His hands reached around my back to find the clasps of my bra as his started kissing further down my chest. "But I'm not." With one swift movement he was able to unhook the metal clamps. His hands moved to his own jeans, tossing them aside in a matter of seconds. He wriggled in between my legs, but stopped once his head was at my mid torso. He looked up at me with a hint of indulgence in his eyes. I knew he was waiting until he made sure he had 100% consent and permission before he moved another further which I had granted him. He gave my a gentle smile before leaving small love bites down my stomach. He paused once again at the edging of the lace covering me.

"We don't have to-"

"Go." I nodded once again and let him tear the last piece of clothing off me. He reached up and gripped each of my hands, squeezing them once before he returned back to his focus; me and the next moments we were able to share together.

-

It was like the first night I even kissed Michael. My still bare body was tangled to his side as I aimlessly traced the tattoo under his arm that was exposed by him having his hands interlocked on top of his head. Our breathing was just beginning to settle and calm down when he spoke up.

"How often are you going to visit?" He looked down at me with the same stupid smirk he always had, and I glanced up at him once then back to the black ink. I took in a shaky breath, not exactly having an answer.

"I guess whenever you guys want." I lifted my eyebrows once then let the thought sink in my head.

"You know if it was our choice that you would be flying out every weekend." He released his intertwined hands and let his arm lay over my back, running his finger up and down my spine. Instead of answering I unattached myself from him and rolled off my bed, wrapping one of the multiple blankets I had around my body.

"Maddie?" He gently called out, making me turn back around. He patted the spot next to him on the bed and he sat up. I flopped down as he wrapped his arms tightly around me. "Does this mean that-" My doorbell cut him off before he could go continue his question.

"The pizza!" I yelled, standing straight up. Michael mumbled an 'Oh my God' and rubbed his forehead as he watched me throw on his t-shirt and a pair of underwear.

I hurried down the steps, almost tripping and completely falling down them. I grabbed the money off the counter and rushed to the door, pulling Michael's shirt further to down make sure my lower half wasn't visible.

"Hi." I said as I opened the door wide enough to get the box, but not enough to show my legs. He looked around 16, definitely younger than me, but obviously old enough to drive.

"Sorry about the hour long wait. You get your pizza for free." He confessed, handing to cardboard box towards me.

"Thanks." I began, making sure to be nice with him since he was drenched from the rain. "I was occupied anyways." I chuckled, barely loud enough to hear. Suddenly the door was yanked open and I felt a warm body behind me.

"Who's this?" Michael questioned. My cheeks flushed and I could hear the pleased tone in his voice. He was completely aware of my state and used that to his advantage. I turned around to see him shirtless and a blanket wrapped only around his hips, hanging low.

The boys eyes widened, probably either mortified or embarrassed. Which in this case, I was actually both. I took the pizza from his hand and mumbled a 'thank you' before running off into my kitchen. I heard Michael and the boy exchange a few words before I heard the door shut and him waltz into the kitchen.

"That was not funny, Michael." I tried to say as serious as possible, but I couldn't help but think what was running through the kid's head when he saw us. A smile crept onto my face as one on his did too.

"So," He said, dragging to 'O'. He sat down at the table and waited as I got us plates. "Does this mean we're...together?" I forced back my grin, finally hearing the question I've been waiting to answer all along. I set the plates down, but didn't sit.

"What are you implying?" I questioned, almost sarcastically, as I crossed my arms over my chest.

"Come on, Maddie. Do I have to get down on one knee and ask?" He snickered. I raised an eyebrow and half smiled, wondering if would actually go through with his idea. "You're not really going to make me do it, are you?" I watched him as my smile grew and I began to laugh, watching him as he got up from his chair and smooth out the blanket still tied around his waist.

He looked around questionably and his eyes lit up as he grabbed the pizza box. Oh God. He crouched down, careful not to expose himself and put up a knee. I tried to keep my same somewhat serious expression, but had failed once he opened the box and cleared his throat. Before he could say anything I we both let out our giggles and he composed himself even in the most ridiculous situation.

"Madison Elaine Grace." He started, already losing his seriousness.

"Why the full name?" I groaned, throwing my head back.

"Because it's cute. Now, this may be cheesy," He said eyeing the pizza. "But will you be my girlfriend of many many years and more?" His smile was cheesy and forced to be too big, easily one only a mother could love. I shook my head at his terrible attempt of a 'proposal' and let my arms unfold. I took a few steps towards him and sat down right on his knee and threw my arm over his shoulder and interlocked my fingers. He stared at me with hopeful eyes which I returned back. I leaned in and kissed him once, feeling him smile into it. I pulled back after a couple seconds and then realized why I was in the position I was in now.

"Yes, Michael Gordon Clifford. I will be your girlfriend." I laughed as he picked me up off his knee and groaned at his full name.

"You're lucky I love you." He cheerfully said as he kissed my cheek. My face tinted pink at the reminder that we could say 'I love you' with real meaning behind it and it was an official thing, even though I never really believed in titling each other's love.

I sighed and moved a loose piece of hair that was stuck to his forehead and pushed it back. I could never understand how even after through all the bull shit that had happened, we still managed to pull through.

"You're lucky too, I mean, that pizza proposal was terrible." I admitted as I covered my mouth with my hand to stifle my laughter. Before I could even take notice in what was happening, he threw my over his shoulder and ran to the couch. "Put me down!" I shouted as I beat on his back.

"Not until you admit that it was great!" He yelled back, making a full circle around my downstairs. He pinched my thigh once, making me yelp from the ticklish spot.

"Okay! Okay!" I shouted through our laughter. He stopped dead in his tracks and waited for me to go on. "It was the most wonderful proposal that I have ever received." He finally placed me down looking at me with a playful smile.

"So you've been proposed to before?" He questioned, raising an eyebrow.

"No, no, no. Especially not like that." I explained, still laughing from before. He sat us on the couch and pulled me onto his chest.

"Good. Because I want to be the first."
