if you were just at a barnes and noble and you saw a teenage girl crying on the floor of the teen fantasy section...that girl was me

bECAUSE GUESS WHO PUBLISHED A NEW BOOK IN A SERIES HE FINISHED WRITING LIKE FIVE YEARS AGO?!

for those of you poor, deprived souls who have never heard of him, he wrote the gone series (which is one of my favorite book series in the entire universe. my gone fandom where you at?)

this is the series (they're worn because i've read them so many times). a brief synopsis: everyone fifteen and older suddenly disappears from a small town in california. at the same time, a strange dome appears, encasing the town, and the kids start developing strange powers. and, a monster is rising.

pretty crappy description, but i'm worried ill give too much away. but these books are amazing and i love them so much like ahh i can't even describe them.

and then, i went to barnes and noble today. i was just doing my scan of all the books i've read (side note: does anyone else make eye contact with their favorite book series and kinda strike their spine so they know you love them or is it just me?). and then, i saw the gone series.

but there was a seventh book.

just so you know, the gone series was on the very bottom shelf. so i was on the floor just so i could get a look at this new book.

and i kid you not, i started crying.

not full on bawling; tears came to my eyes.

monster is set four months after the FAYZ ends and is about totally new characters. which is fine, it's always interesting to get a new take. but also, I NEED TO SEE SAM AND ASTRID, AND DIANA I NEED TO SEE HOW MY BABY GIRL IS DOING. AND DEKKA I KNOW SHE'S STILL GRIEVING. ALSO LANA MAN WHAT A BADASS. can we please just get a glimpse into their live? please?

but to all my gone fans: there's a new book and it's part of a new trilogy. the FAYZ is over but we're not leaving the FAYZ quite yet.

if you need me, i'll be rereading the series and crying.
