i had a dream last night where voldemort possessed harry potter during the summer before seventh year, and harry/voldemort killed vernon and petunia. dudley managed to escape somehow.

when harry gets unpossessed, dudley finds him, and explains what happened. harry, of course, is filled with guilt, and tries to distance himself. but dudley doesn't allow that to happen (mostly because he's grief-stricken and confused) so he stays by harry's side.

so dudley goes with harry to the Burrow, and he stays there and bonds and everyone there. he slowly starts to learn about all the amazing things that harry accomplished in the wizarding world. dudley becomes impressed by his skinny cousin.

and then harry, hermione, and ron leave to track down the horocruxes. dudley feels betrayed. but he stays at the Burrow (Molly gets attached to him because she recognizes the flawed upbringing he had) and that's pretty much it.

i think i'm going to write this, and make it part of the "outcasts" series.
