Departure
I guided her to my home and closed the door. I took off my boots, my mask, put my hat on the shelf, and turned on the lights. "Roach, I'm home", he woofed in response while he ate his food. He's a good boy.
"oooOOoo" I heard from behind me, followed by the singing fish, then a cli- "WAIT" I pull her away from it. "It's okay! It's just a toy!" I say as I lower her weapon. "See, like this" I hand her a spinner I found and showed her how to use it. I wonder if she'll like the other stuff I've collected.
I look around for something else to show her, deciding on the poppy paper. Clank "What was that?" I ask.
"Nothing!" She says as she looks away.
"Hmm, alright" I hand her a glass bulb I had and the strangest thing happened. It lit up only when she held it. Strange. OH, I SHOULD SHOW HER THE VIDEO.
I turn around to give it to her but then she stretched out the tape. "AHH"
"I'm sorry!! Did I break it?" She ask. I can't tell her the truth, she'd feel horrible.
"N- no, it's okay. Just gotta screw it back in" I say. "See, it still works" I hope.
I play the video and it still works, there's nothing wrong with it thankfully. Eva started scanning the screen. She must be curious. "What're they doing?" She ask.
"They're dancing" I answer. Then I got a great idea, I went back and got my hat and started to dance around her, humming the song while I continued. Trying to imitate the video to the best of my abilities. I'm glad I practiced a couple of times before. "Now you try"
"Oh, um" she puts her hand to her forehead, pretending that she also had a hat and started jumping up and down very aggressively. With each jump she shook the floor, walls, and roof. Which was surprising since she was fairly short and slim. At least she looks like she's having fun but I should stop her before she dances my house down.
"Wow! That was great" I say as I clap. She thanked me and smiled. "Maybe we should try something a bit easier, like this." I spin around with my arms out.
"Alright!" She says. She started spinning. Quickly picking up speed as she ascended upwards just a bit. Getting closer and clo- BONK.
I got launched into the wall and made a huge me sized dent. "Wally, where'd you go?" She called.
"I- i'm up h- here" I say as I fall to the ground. I pick myself up with a groan and notice that my goggles are broken. I completely forgot to take them off.
"Are you alright? How'd you get up there?" Eva asked with concern.
"I'm alright, don't worry about it. I can fix it" I say as I clumsily make my way over to the rotating shelves. I take off my goggles and replace them with new ones. "Tadaa" I say as I show her. It takes a few seconds to adjust to my eyes. She seems unamused.
"Ooookay" she says as she looks at the shelf. Picking up one of the many shiny BnL rectangles I have. Then she opened it. I didn't know they do that.
Then she pressed something on the side and it lit up. "Woah" me and her say. She holds it closer to her face and I couldn't help but stare. I could see the reflection of the little light in her big blue eyes. The warm color flushed against her round face. As the music played in the background, I kept thinking of that thought I had a while ago.
Holding hands with someone one special. My eyes drifted towards her hand. My hand timidly drawing closer to hers. "What're you doing?" She asked.
"Nothing!" I responded as I picked at the steel floor below me. She seemed to have bought that answer and started scanning the video again. "OH, Eva there's one more thing I wanted to show you"
"Alright then." She said.
I sped walked over to the shelves, searching for the plant. "Oww" what was that? It doesn't matter. I found what I was looking for and made my way back to Eva.
I tapped her on the shoulder and cleared my throat. "I found this a few days ago" she Ooo'd in response. She scanned it and her eyes went wide.
A green icon on her chest started pulsating and making an alarm sound. She dropped the light, started to ascend, and a blue beam picked up the plant out of my hands. It pulled it close to her and her suit expanded into an egg shape and closed her and the plant inside. Then everything just stopped and I was left in the dark, with the only thing lighting the room was the pulsing green icon on what used to be Eva.
"Eva... Eva, Are you okay?" I put my head up to where her chest would be. Her heart is still beating. "Eva wake up please! Eva!!!" I screamed. I took her to the roof when the dust storm settled. The sun always makes me feel better, maybe it'll help her too.
I waited by her side day after day, week after week but she still showed no progress. Through spring, fall, summer, and winter. Making sure she didn't get cold, hot, wet or anything else that might make it worse. I got struck by lightning a few times but it was worth it. I even tried to open the shield but only got repelled backwards by the electric barrier that I didn't know about.
Then I thought, maybe I could make her feel better by taking her around town. Like I saw in the video. I took her for a walk, on a boat I made myself, and sitting while watching the sun go down. I tried everything, but nothing worked.
I decided to cube some trash today. I usually enjoy collecting things but I just haven't been in the mood lately. Then I heard a rumble, a familiar one.
I ran home as fast as I could. Roach following close behind. Not caring how tired I am, I had to make it back. I arrived and there it was. The ship from before. It was taking Eva. "EVA!!!" I scream. I can make it. "Roach, stay here. There's extra food on the shelves!!! I won't be gone long!!!" I heard a confident Bark as I slid down a broken sign.
I quickly climb up the ladder on the side of the ship, trying to get to the door near the top. It takes off while in climbing and I try my best to hang on. I see we're about to reach the atmosphere so I climb a fast as I can to the door. Losing oxygen quickly I take off my mask and reach the lever.
The door opens and I quickly close it with whatever strength I had left. I catch my breath and look out the window at the planet we just left. "I hope Roach will be okay" I say to myself. I then start to float. This I kinda fun. I see why Eva floats around instead of walking.
Speaking of Eva, I make my way to her cabin. "Oh Eva, I wish you could see all of this" I say as I put my hand on the glass between us. "I'll get you out of here, don't worry."
That's it for act 3, The longest one yet
And don't worry, Roach will be fine. He's a scouting dog. I already pre planned the events of them leaving.
