The anticipation is great

Can't wait to see

Has much changed

Will they recognize each other?

It has after all been

27 years

Two friends

Since their daughters were toddlers

Had a reunion in a Midwest airport

The culmination of years apart

Though now living in the same country

A few thousand miles separates them

And yet they used to live in the same

Apartment complex

Half way around the world

A place called Bobruisk

A country now known as Belarus

But before was the almighty

USSR

Each had one daughter

The girls were 6 months apart

In age

They were very friendly always

And then fate happened

The families had to leave their home behind

For the new world

One settled in Colorado

The other in Connecticut

For 27 years, they only spoke on the phone

Until September 2016

When they were finally able to put their

Arms around each other

Tears flowing

A reunion that made people

Standing nearby smile

It was time

5 joyous days were spent

Catching up on the present

And making small steps

For the future

Now there would be no more

Excuses to not see each other

After all, they were all just a plane ride away

Now reunited

Reconnected

Their bond is doubly strong

And it comes from pure love

The most important power of all
