THIRTY-FIVE

They boys carefully decided to split up. They figured that they would be able to find vehicles quicker like that.

The finding vehicle-part wasn't the worst thing. The worst thing was, checking if it still had any fuel left in it. It would mean that they all had to find the keys and turn on the engines, which would make noise.

A lot.

For a long period of time.

It was risky. Very risky.

They wouldn't be able to get away quick enough if something happened. They would lure walkers all around the place, so if they decided to do this, they had to do this quick.

And they would.

Namjoon went together with Seokjin, going east. Hoseok went together with Jeongguk, heading south. And Jimin needed to stay by Taehyung's side for protection. The boy was absolutely defenseless, and there was no way he was going to be left alone.

They agreed on attempting to find a vehicle and once they did, drive it to the apartment so Taehyung could get in together with his best friend.

"Wait!" Jeongguk got shoved into the nearest brick wall. His back hurted from the impact, but Hoseok pressed his finger to his mouth to sign the youngest that he had to be quiet.

He peeked around the corner, seeing a walker drag itself along. Its left arm was gone, only the bones from the upper arm sticking out. Its right foot was missing too, causing it to 'walk' unevenly.

"I got this." Whispered the red haired man, taking Jeongguk's weapon with him and sneaking up on it from behind.

The unaware creature stopped dragging itself along, sniffing the air.
Once it decided to turn around, it was already too late.

Hoseok sliced the knife right through its chest, pulling it upwards to kill the walker.

Or, at least make it inefficient.

The boy signaled Jeongguk that it was clear now. So, the youngest appeared from behind the corner and together they roamed the streets in attempt to find a car that would bring them to safety.

"There's one over there!" Jeongguk pulled the man next to him with him, glancing through the windows to see if there was any possible danger inside.

"We have to try to find the key, that is, IF there's a key." Hoseok mumbled, opening one of the doors and crawling in.

"Watch out!" Namjoon pushed Seokjin, preventing the man from getting a very nasty scratch.

Seokjin hadn't been very careful, running up to the first car they came across and opening the door to find the key, only to miss out on the fact that something else had been sitting in there a long time way before he had.

"Jesus, thank you." Seokjin put his hand on his chest to calm his heart.

He wiped the backside of his other hand across his forehead, "It's hot. Why is it so hot? Dang." He glanced up in the sky, the sun shining brightly down on them.

"It's because I'm standing next to you." Namjoon winked, causing the other man to stutter.

"Hey- You-! You can't just say stuff like that!" The man grumbles, walking away.

Namjoon silently chuckled, jogging after him.

"Ready?" Jeongguk nodded, biting on his bottom lip so hard, it drew blood.

Hoseok turned the key around, waiting for the moment of truth.

They listened as the car made a futile attempt in starting the engine, only to die down again.

Hoseok tried again, and again, and again, but only to get the same result.

Jeongguk pulled him out, "We have to run into the opposite direction. Any nearby walkers must've heard it. We shouldn't try for this long, just once. If that doesn't work, we have to head over to the next vehicle we find. Alright?"

"Alright." Hoseok confirmed, panting a little.

They ran out of the street, turning left and then right, trying to glance into the distance to see if there was anything that would be of help.

They couldn't go too far; they needed to be able to find their way back after all, plus if something happened, the others would be too far away to help them.

They searched for what felt like eternity before finding another car. This time it was a blue, dusty and rather small car, in a further empty parking lot. It was surrounded by high wired fences.

The car wasn't in the best state, obviously, but it was better than most of the cars Jeongguk had seen ever since he left his bunker.

"If you try to find the key, I'll keep an eye out for walkers. How does that idea sound?" Hoseok suggested, making the dark haired male nod.

The boy once again glanced inside, making sure nothing tried to come out once he tried to get in.

Once he was sure it was safe, he tried to open the door. Fortunately, it was open. The owners must've ran out for their lives, not bothering to lock it.

Once he sat down in the passenger's seat, he searched the entire inside. Underneath the seats, the carpets, up and in every little drawer it could possibly be.

Then his eyes fell on the rear view mirror.

More specifically, on what it was reflecting.

His eyes widened in horror.

He jumped out of the car after seeing something errupt from underneath a black blanket in the backseats. A boney hand pulled it down, the sound of a neck cracking and looking into Jeongguk's direction with two grey, dull eyes, gave the boy instant nightmares.

"Hoseok!" He whisper-shouted, looking around the place to see where the hell he was at.

He jogged around a small corner, trying to recover from his previous heart attack.

However nothing could've prepared him from the sight he was met with.

Hoseok turned around, his clothes ripped, blood all over him.

Jeongguk's heart now entirely dropped, seeing his face.

The veins in his face turned grey, his brown orbs turned into dull balls. His honey warm skin slowly changed into grey and green, everything screamed death.

But most importantly, run.

Tears streamed down Jeongguk's face. What was once Hoseok, screeched, and ran after the boy.

Jeongguk had no idea he could run this fast; his legs carried him back towards the building he came from.

He took the same turns, noticing that he ever so slowly lost the newly turned walker.

The boy was panting once he got back, gripping his hair and shaking his head furiously. Tears streamed down like a never stopping waterfall.

No.

No this couldn't be true.

This was a nightmare.

Please make it stop.
Please make it stop.
Please make it stop.
Please, please, please!!

"Jeongguk, there you are!" The called boy turned on his heels immediately, face to face with Seokjin and Namjoon who apparently succeeded in finding a car. They got out, running to retrieve Taehyung and Jimin but their eyes widened in worry once they saw Jeongguk's state from up close.

They didn't fail to notice that he was alone.

"Oh poor boy.." Seokjin cried himself, pulling Jeongguk into a bone crushing hug, no further questions asked.

They already knew the answer.
