👣What Love Feels Like👣
Warning: Mentions of blood- I think that's it tbh :)))))))))))))))))))))
-Chapter 3
I could feel tears gathering up in my eyes. They stung. My throat started to hurt horribly as I watched them try and destroy my wheelchair. What did I ever do to deserve this?
What did I do to deserve these functionless legs? What did I do to deserve such a horrible father? What did I do to deserve having a crush that probably doesn't like me back?
In this moment I wanted to crawl in a hole and die. Everyone was staring either at me, or at Lafayette chasing those two boys. I put my head in my hands and cried silently.
Memories started flooding back into my like a hurricane, wiping away all positive thoughts. Just like that my world was turning grey. I inhaled deeply, exhaling shakily. I could hear Lafayette's yelling, and people laughing, but they were muffled noises. All I could hear was inside my brain. The memories of The-Day-Our-Lives-Fell-Apart.
I could feel something picking me up, most likely a person, but I was so lost in my thoughts I didn't bother to see who it was. I was shaking, my breathing erratic.
Blood flowed around me, forming a huge puddle. He had done it. He, my father, had shot me. He wanted me dead. Of course.
I could hear James screaming for me to stay awake, but I was fainting. I could see white dots blurring my vision. Then, a black, lifeless void.
"John!.." "John wake up!"
I screamed, sitting up from the place on a bed. It was my bed. I was in my house, my mom, James, Alex, and Lafayette looming over me. They all looked worried.
Mom took me into her arms, holding me tight. She shushed me, whispering sweet things. "It's alright, sweetie.. it's ok.." she whispered.
Alex sat down beside me on my bed, hugging me from the side. "Oh, mon ami.." Lafayette whispered, hugging me to. Soon, we were all in a big group hug. I wiped my eyes when they pulled away, my posture hunching over. "I'll go make you some tea.." Mom said, getting up, and walking out of my room. "I'll get the turtle hoodie you let me borrow!" James said, making his way to his room across the hall.
Alex turned to me, his eyes full of sympathy, but I could make out something to be sorrow. Lafayette smiled a small smile, to reassure me. Why did these people care so much about me?
I'm just a useless person. If they ever needed to be saved I couldn't help them, yet they ditched school to save me. Why?
Alex cleared his throat softly, looking in my eyes. "I'm sorry, John.. I should've sat with you.. it's my fault for not being there.. I'm so sorry.." he said softly. He frowned. I couldn't watch him frown like that, feeling like it was his fault. It was mine. For being useless.
"It's not your fault, Alex. I promise. It just.. It just happened.." I whispered, my voice hoarse from screaming and crying. We stared at each other for a moment.
"Allez les gars. arrête de baiser les yeux!" Lafayette exclaimed, receiving a profusely blushing Alex, and a confused me. I tilted me head, and raised an eyebrow. He just smirked and chuckled evilly. "Right.. well, uh.." I tried breaking the awkwardness, but failed horribly.
Alex blinked, trying to conceal his blush with an awkward smile. "Heh.."
Lafayette rolled his eyes playfully, "John, how are you feeling?" He asked.
"Well, I guess." I said, not really sure how to feel.
Mom walked in, holding a mug of warm tea. I smiled gratefully at her. She smiled back, handing me the tea gently. "Thank you, Mom." I said quietly. "You're welcome! If you need anything else, please let me know. That goes for all of you!" She smiled at Alex and Lafayette, then made her way out of my room.
James came in with the hoodie he borrowed from me, even though I told him he could have it. "Here you go, Johnny!" He said, smiling. I smiled back, and cuddled the hoodie. "After I'm done with it, I want you to have it, Jamie." I said to him. He smiled, "really?" I nodded. "Thanks!" He sat down in between Alex and Lafayette. "No problem.." I said, taking a sip of my tea. It was really good. Peppermint tea. My favorite.
I sighed with contentment. Having my best friends (I considered them that), and my favorite (and only) brother with me was truely a blessing. I wouldn't miss this moment for the world.
In this moment, I realized that there were people that cared about me. People that loved me, family like, plantonicly, and possibly romantically (I wish). We talked together, and made each other feel special.
This is what love feels like...
