The Gravel Road
Awoken by a gentle breeze, my half asleep eyes wandered around the area. Realizing I didnt recognize my surroundings, I jumped to my feet and heard a familiar crunch beneath me.
I looked down at the source of the noise. I was standing on a gravel road.
"Where am I?" I asked.
I gazed around in all directions again. The path of dirt and rock seemed to stretch as far as I could see. I looked beyond the ditch to my right.
Nothing, just a grassy ground that stretched for eternity. The left side was no different. Panic set in. I plunged my hand into my front pocket. No cellphone. I chuckled to hide my anxiety and stared down the long straight road.
'There was only one thing left to do.'I thought to myself. Walk. And so I did. I took step after step, yet seemed to get no where. "Keep going," I told myself, as my legs grew weaker and weaker. What seemed like minutes, turned into hours.
Hours of just walking. The time seemed to never change. There was no sun to be seen, but it wasnt dark either. Instead there were gray clouds everywhere. Not a hint of blue sky that I was used to.
My knees were screaming in pain. My stomach is crying with hunger. The repetative sound of the gravel beneath my feet is driving me crazy. I've tried to find sharp rocks to cut through my flesh multiple times, but they wont break the skin.
I cant hear another one of those damn crunches again. If you find this, please end my pain, any way that you can. Because I just can't take another step...
