🌹Branches and Soil🌹

Knocking furiously on the door, Ellen jerks it open with the same expression splayed across her face as Eunbi's.

Without a word, Ellen pulls Eunbi into the house and closes the door quickly. Both women were clad in black turtlenecks pulled almost up to their chin, and Eunbi stares at Ellen, asking,
"Do you have them too?"

Ellen squeezes her eyes shut before ruffling the hair on her head vigorously.
"I just wish it was all a dream but it isn't. Yes, I have them too."

Eunbi whines, burying her face in her hands.
"Were yours as bad as mine?"
Ellen whines along with her.
"Yes, but I don't know about yours yet. Can I see them?"

Eunbi nods, as Ellen puts an arm around her. Hyunwoo skips past them, and the pair make sure their hands and neck are covered completely. Ellen points at Eunbi's gloves, asking,
"Is that what I think it is?"

Closing the door the bedroom, Eunbi nods, throwing the gloves off her hands and closing her fists as Ellen stares at her knuckles.
"I'm not gonna lie, but that is cool as fuck."
"You think so?"
Eunbi asks, looking at her knuckles. Ellen hums, and Eunbi shakes her head.
"Wait till you see the rest."

Ellen leans back on her elbows as Eunbi slips her shirt off her, revealing her dark purple bra. Ellen's jaw drops at the number of tattoos littered across her body.
"Oh my god."

Eunbi whines, stomping her feet.
"I know, right."
Ellen shakes her head, approaching Eunbi.
"No, they actually look badass."
"But I don't wanna look badass! I wanna look like me, and I don't fancy tattoos. There's another one on my ass that says 'JK' and I'm not ready for him to see that."

Ellen bursts out in laughter, leaning back into the bed with her hand over her mouth. Eunbi slaps her arm saying,
"It's isn't funny! Come on, let me see yours."
Eunbi lifts up the edge of Ellen's shirt while she still convulses in laughter and manages to catch a glimpse of what looked like a wing before Ellen pushes her hand away, sitting up as her laughter dies down.

"Ok, ok."
She lifts her shirt off her slim body, her pale skin now almost completely covered in tattoos. Eunbi gasps, eyes bulging.
"Tha-that's a lot of tattoos, Ellen."

From designs of flowers to butterflies and leaves and skulls intricately connected around a word flowing gracefully across her stomach.

Eunbi reads it out with furrowed eyebrows.
"Ellmin? What's that?"
Ellen chuckles, running her fingers across the huge tattoo.
"Ellen and Jimin. Ellmin."
Eunbi coos, lightly hitting Ellen's arm while giggling.
"That's so cute, I wonder why I never thought of that! I can't wait to see his reaction to it."

The questioning thought if their husbands would even make it back alive still lingered in the back of her mind, but she decided not to bring that up and ruin the mood.

"That's not all, look here."
Ellen says, turning around.
"Wow, that looks... amazing."
Eunbi's eyes travel the body of the large Chinese dragon crawling up Eunbi's back, every detail down to its scales and piercing fangs standing out to her as waves of fire left its mouth stopping just below the back of her neck.

The block lettered quote,
"Do no harm, take no shit"
Ran along the dragons slithering curvy body, and Eunbi clapped her hands in joy as Ellen laughs, playfully pushing Eunbi away.

"I'm starting to not hate the whole idea of us getting these tattoos."
Eunbi says with a smile, as Ellen wraps her arm around Eunbi's waist and they stare at their new-looking bodies in the mirror.

"Let's get lip rings."
Ellen says with a playful smirk, and Eunbi gasps, smacking her.
"Never!"

His thumping heart rang loudly in his ears, as his shaking index finger rested on the trigger of his sniper.

Jungkook lets out a wavering breath as he stares at the view before him. He was perfectly hidden beneath a thin layer of the soil, nothing but his eyes peeking out at the panoramic silence that engulfed him.

He was lucky to have been given the opportunity of being a sniper shooter. It didn't mean indulging in hand to hand battle or up-front shooting.

He could stay hidden in the shadows, and finish his enemies from afar if he spotted them through the powerful lens of the sniper.

His eyes stayed trained through the lens, as he continuously scanned the area. There were other snipers set in place, and Jungkook knew where each of them were.

He glances at the tall tree that towered towards the west of the field, just near the border and the slight shuffle between its heavy branches caught his eye.

Jungkook speaks in a low voice.
"Namjoon. Stop moving. I can clearly see you from here."
A static sound is heard from the mic, and is soon replaced by another whispering voice.

"This tree is fucking uncomfortable, man. I demand justice."
Jungkook holds back a snort, before replying.
"Shut up and keep an eye out."

A few minutes pass by, and Jungkook's heart skips a beat when he sees a piece from the hill on the other side of the border begin to move.
"Joon. 2 o clock."

"I see him too."

A lone soldier had just given his spot away, and Jungkook's eyes strain through the lens to pinpoint him. He blended in perfectly with his environment, and as much as Jungkook wanted to press that trigger, he didn't want to give his position away.

"Dang it. I can't get a clear shot, it's just too risky. I can't pinpoint where his head is."
Namjoon says, and Jungkook hums.

"Guys, stop talking."
Another feminine voice speaks through the microphone.
"Oh, shut up Jessi."
Joon replies and Jungkook rolls his eyes.

Is this a battlefield or my game room?

"I'll shoot your ass out of that tree, Joon and I'll grenade your hole, Jungkook. Now both of you shut the fuck up."
Jessi snaps, her usual savage behaviour playing out here as well.

Silence befalls them until Jungkook sees a small object fly through the air and land in a tuft of grass. He knew well enough what that was as his eyes widened.

"Grenade. Grenade."
He whisper yells into his mic, and the soldiers that were hidden near where the grenade fell abandon their hiding spots, exposing themselves in the open for they only had a few seconds to escape.

As expected, relentless firing from the north occurs, aimed at the soldiers who were now running up the hill.

The grenade blows, a thundering boom echoing through the air and sends vibrations through the soil as dirt and grass fly up.

It blocks Jungkook's vision for a moment and he cusses before he immediately locates where the shots were coming from and strains his eyes into the tuft of grass that was unusually bulging.

Without hesitation, his fingers pull the trigger thrice, and the mound goes limp. He lets out the breath he didn't know he was holding as shots continued to fire.

"This is the best fucking spot in the house, I can see them all from here."
Namjoon's breathless voice makes it through the microphone.

Jungkook grunts, as he continues to spot others and knock them out effortlessly while replying,
"You said you hated it there."
"Stop lying, Jungkook. I never said anything of the sort."

Jungkook snickers, as the shots died down. He didn't fail to notice the multiple soldiers than lay lifeless on the grass, and he tears his eyes away from the sight immediately, his heart constricting in his chest.

That won't be me.

I hope...

"What the fuck, they're crossing the border!"
Jessi's voice yells through the mic as Jungkook is snapped back into reality as over ten soldiers emerge from their hiding spots, crossing the border and firing.

Jungkook grits his teeth, pulling the trigger one by one across each soldier, watching them fall like dominoes with a single shot for each.

"Woooh! JK, that shit is fire!"
Joon yells through the mic and Jessi snaps back at him,
"Bastard, you'll give away your position if you keep yelling like that. I'm surprised how your ass isn't shot."

Jungkook grins at the conversation, not wanting to focus on the death before him in the field.
"It wasn't a big deal, guys."

Jessi scoffs in reply,
"Alright, Mr. Flex, we won't bother you with our flattery."
A familiar groan is heard through the mic as Namjoon speaks up.

"God, how long do we have to be here? My balls are fucking suffocated here and I can't feel my ass."
Jungkook snorts, seeing a few uncomfortable ruffles of leaves from the tree in the distance.

Suddenly, a deep voice speaks through the mic and everyone freezes.

"We'll return only when the North Koreans pull back. So shut your traps and focus on what we're here to do. This isn't a damn joke, it's a war. So stop complaining and grow some balls before you get shot in the fucking head."

Everyone drops in silence.

"Y-yes sir."
Namjoon's voice is heard and there's no reply.

The trio had quite forgotten that the speaker was connected to all the soldiers present near them in the area, and the Caption of the troop just happened to be a part of it.

Jungkook's face turns red with embarassment as silence befalls the land once again, as though the outrageous exchange of fire didn't take place at all.

First day in, and I get reprimanded by the Captain.

Those assholes just couldn't stop talking.

He thinks, rolling his eyes as his body relaxes into the soil. He'd grown quite comfortable to his hiding spot and was glad he wasn't spotted.

He predicted a few more hours of idle watching before another exchange takes place, and pulls his hand away from the gun, stretching his fingers and closing it back into his fist, repeating the process again as he winces.

"My hand is numb."
He speaks into the mic without thinking, and mentally kicks himself as he waited for another reprimand from the Captain.

Jungkook almost bursts into laughter when a whisper replies to his comment.

"Bastard, you're in the soil. I have a branch sticking up my fucking ass."
