This chapter was said to be confusing for some. I apologize if you don't understand it either. I will make sure to edit this as soon as possible. Thank you for reading!
Update (10/25/17) : Do any of you have suggestions as to how I can improve this chapter? I'll gladly take any into mind and try to make it more understandable and enjoyable for all.
Also, I'm sorry if it resembles Sword Art Online. Many of you commented that and my apologies! I honestly didn't have any idea as to what SAO was until I was notified.
Update (12/21/19) : Okay, so I recently watched SAO (Season 1) and I now understand what you all meant. I'll try to edit this chapter ASAP. However, I'm still a student and I have schoolwork and such to tend to first. I'll do my best to edit this along with updating Wait for Us!

Tick. Tock.
Tick. Tock.
I groan, rolling over in bed and glaring at the clock hanging over the window. My fourth day here ends up being a Saturday. No classes. Kid has been gone all morning so I can't even have a pointless argument with him. Apparently, security is higher on weekends so I can't even try to escape. I sigh, laying my head down on my pillow. I'm so bored.
What should I do?
I haven't exactly made any friends. Most people stay away from me now or are my enemies. I think for a moment.
Luffy!
I shoot up in bed at the thought. He's been the friendliest out of all the others, along with his crew. I wonder what they're doing...
The building quakes and bits of stone fall down from the ceiling.
Curious, I hop out of bed, striding towards the door and opening it. I peek my head out into the quiet hallway. I gingerly take a step out and silently close the door behind me. For a moment, I stand still and listen.
The building rumbles once again.
I walk down the hallway, barefoot. My feet sink into the soft red carpet as I walk gently. I reach stone steps to the third floor and debate with myself for a moment of whether or not I really want to go up there.
I question myself.
Do you want to get hurt?
No.
Do you want to die?
Obviously not.
I sigh, defeated and walk up the long, spiraling staircase. Once I reach the third floor, I peek into the hallway and see Luffy fighting someone I don't recognize because his back is facing my direction. I squint at the blond mass of hair and realize that it's Sanji; the lady's man who was fighting moss head when I first arrived. But why is Luffy fighting him when they're crew mates?
"Sanji!" Luffy roars. "Give me meat!"
"The food is for the ladies!" Sanji yells, kicking Luffy, two plates of food in his hands. I watch, amazed as he skillfully balances the plates all while fighting with his two legs.
Luffy goes flying into the wall but immediately jumps back up again and sends a punch flying at Sanji by stretching his rubber arm. I laugh a bit at scene, amused by their bickering. Both of them turn their heads toward me and I realize that I exposed myself.
"(Y/N)!" They both shout happily, running towards me and completely forgetting their argument.
I wave hesitantly as they approach me, still wary of their presence.
"What brings you here, my princess?~" Sanji asks with hearts for eyes.
"Boredom." I sigh.
"You're bored?" Luffy questions, still trying to eat the food from the plates in Sanji's hands.
"There's nothing to do."
"Then let's go do something!" Luffy smiles.
"Like what?" I question, quizzical. What is there to do in a school for delinquents other than fighting and getting detentions?
"Hmm." Luffy appears to be thinking really hard. "I know!" He grabs my arm. "Come on, (Y/N)!" He yanks me towards a window while I look at him with a guarded expression.
"Luffy, where are we going?" I ask, cautiously, eyes narrowing.
"You'll see!" He says while giving me his signature goofy smile.
The next thing I know it, were crashing though the window of a three story building. I scream and clutch on to Luffy for my dear life. He laughs hysterically and holds me in his arms. Then, before I know it, we're running down the grass and past all the dorms. I close my eyes, the speed making me nauseous, a headache now forming. My hands tighten their grip on Luffy and after a minute, we fortunately start to slow down.
"Here we are!" Luffy beams.
I open my eyes and gasp when we reach a building. It's hidden by moss and the smell of food wafts from inside. I look around as see that it's right at the edge of the barbed wire fence. Luffy carries me in and I'm amazed to see arcade games everywhere along with a kitchen made to hold a large group of people. I see many of the Strawhats here along with others, all of them laughing and enjoying themselves.
"What is this place?" I ask in awe.
Luffy laughs at my expression. "Franky made it. He's the shipwright in my crew. We call it the Arcademia." He pulls his face into a frown. "I don't understand the name though."
"You're crew must be amazing." I remark in amazement.
"Join my crew then, (Y/N)!" Luffy exclaims.
My demeanor abruptly shifts. "No." I say in a monotone voice. "I can't."
"Sure you can! Just join." The rubber boy says bluntly as if I'm stupid.
I shake my head. "You wouldn't understand."
I wriggle in his grip and successfully escape. I look down at my feet and remember that I'm not wearing any shoes. Shrugging it off, I quickly walk away from him, quietly thanking him for bringing me here. But he runs up to me, concern etched in his features.
"What's the best game here?" I ask, changing the subject.
He suddenly grins. "One Piece!" He exclaims. "It's so cool! You have to fight so many battles and the story is awesome too!"
He grabs my arm and leads me over to a large room. We enter and I see over fifty people sitting in seats with a machine over their heads. I glance at the large screen that takes up the space on the wall. I can see people battling, enjoying themselves, stuck in situations, making decisions, going through difficult times. I watch amazed and recognize so many people.
Luffy pushes me into a chair. "You start from level one!" He grins. "Try to survive." He puts the large helmet on my head firmly, covering my eyes.
"Wait, what is this game?" I ask cautiously, not knowing the objective. I lift the helmet a bit so that I can see him.
"You enter a simulation of the One Piece world." A voice says. I turn and see Franky walking towards us. "It seems like the real world but you'll know that it isn't. In the game you face battles and life changing decisions you need to make."
"How do I leave?"
"Once you complete the level you're on, you immediately come back to the real world."
"Is it possible for me to see anyone from the real world in the game?"
"It's possible, yes. But that rarely ever happens."
I nod my head. "I guess I'll play this game. After all, I am bored." Franky laughs and strikes his super pose. With that he leaves Luffy and I to go help another new player.
"Oh!" Luffy exclaims. "I almost forgot!"
"What?" I demand, still a bit wary of the game.
"Don't die." He deadpans. "Or you'll actually die in real life!"
"What?!" I shout but all I hear is Luffy laughing before everything goes dark.
~
I stand above a shore, waving at someone unconsciously. My arm moves on its own. My eyes blink in surprise, adjusting to the bright light. I shake my head, dazed and squint at a figure in a small boat. I'm puzzled when I see that it's Luffy. Before I can even comprehend anything, a large water snake appears out of nowhere but Luffy punches it, causing it to collapse. I turn away and look down at my clothes, confused. It's the same outfit I used to wear all the time two years ago when I was seventeen.
"(Y/N)?" Someone calls.
I turn to see a fairly young woman with dark green hair. She smiles at me. "Aren't you going to go with Luffy?" She questions.
Still puzzled, I ask. "What do you mean?"
"Oi, (Y/N)!" Luffy calls. In a matter of seconds, Luffy's hand has stretched and wrapped around my waist. I look down in shock, still not able to comprehend where I am when I'm suddenly sent flying towards the small boat.
I squeeze my eyes shut and let out a startled scream.
What the hell is going on?
I land with a thud on the boat, causing it to rock from the impact. I struggle to catch my breath while Luffy laughs at me.
Where the hell am I?
I open my eyes and look up at Luffy who grins down at me. I squint my eyes, the clear blue sky blinding me. "Are you really Luffy?!" I demand, glaring at him.
He laughs again. "Who else would I be?"
I shake my head, standing on wobbly legs. "What I mean is, are you a character in is game or are you from real life?"
Luffy frowns. "This is real life."
I let out a frustrated sigh.
How the hell do I find the real Luffy?
And how am I going to get to the end of this level?
I look back the video game Luffy who looks at me with a confused expression. "You're weird." He states bluntly.
I force out a laugh. "So where are we going?" I ask, deciding to go along with this. Luffy said that I'm starting from level one. If I get through this, I'll end up going back to the real world.
He smiles brightly. "To the Grand Line!" He shouts.
~
"Get in the barrel!" I scream hysterically at Luffy. The whirlpool seems to be getting closer causing my fear to grow. We've been sailing for a few hours but have encountered a giant whirlpool in this simulation. But the real Luffy said it's possible to die in this game and there's no way in hell I'm going to let that happen to me. What a miserable and idiotic death that would be.
Luffy scrambles into the small barrel. I pinch the bridge of my nose, panic settling into my stomach and I stuff myself into the barrel as well.
Oh what the hell.
I don't want to die.
~
Luffy snores beneath me, which irritates me to the extreme. I elbow his face and yet he doesn't stop. I guess this game is probably programmed to be a specific way. Abruptly, the barrel feels like it airborne. I hear the sound of pulleys heaving it up and voices. My eyes brighten.
Finally!
The voices speak of drinking sake without a woman named Alvida knowing. My brows furrow in confusion when I hear someone being yelled at. Suddenly the barrel breaks as Luffy wakes up, stretching. I scream and tumble to the floor, on my elbows. I look up and see Luffy grinning happily, arms outstretched, accidentally punching two men who hold swords in the process. My gaze flickers to a boy with pink hair who watches in shock. My brain racks for an explanation as to what's happening but can't seem to come up with anything.
I'm killing you once I get back, Luffy! I seethe.
I am so not liking it here.
~
"What's wrong, (Y/N)?"
"Nothing, Luffy." I say through gritted teeth. I walk up to an arcade game, picking up a lone quarter from the floor and sticking it in, trying to ignore the persistent boy. I've just escaped that weird arcade game after beating up an old hag named Alvida. That was the weirdest arcade game I have ever played. Now I'm having a hard time trying to adjust to my surroundings and Luffy claims that I have to join his crew.
Just great. Note the sarcasm.
"Well of course there is." Luffy insists. "Why don't you want to join my crew?"
I whirl around, anger evident in my eyes. "I don't want to talk about it." I snap.
He frowns back at me. "I just want to help! After all, we're nakama!" I sigh, closing my eyes. A wave of nausea washes over me and I pinch the bridge of my nose.
"(Y/N)!" I hear Luffy shout. I try to block out all the noise around me as the pounding in my head grows worse.
Not again.
I collapse.
~
I stare at white ceiling with a blank expression. The white sheets bind me to the bed. Chopper won't let me leave, he claims that I need rest and have to stay here. He literally locked the door and sealed the windows shut when I tried once to escape.
I was out for two days this time.
It's happening more often.
My heart starts to pound erratically. Fear courses through me.
It's getting worse.
I panic, shooting up in the infirmary bed. Breathing becomes more difficult and painful with each passing second.
You won't last long. The voice in my head taunts. You'll end up just like her.
A guttural scream rips from my throat.
Shaking heavily I stumble towards the window, my fingers feebly grasping at the latch, my breathing ragged.
I finally lose it.
I rush at the window, slamming through, shattering the glass. Cuts cover my arms and legs, blood stains my white clothes red. I close my eyes, my arms in front of me. My hair flies wildly around me, whipping in my face as I fall. But I feel warmth surround me, pulling me closer towards it. Abruptly, I'm running fast on the ground.
Still struggling to breath a gasp escapes me when I open my eyes and meet a fiery red mass of spiky hair.
Kid.

Question:
Is this story moving too fast?
Should I have made the arcade scene larger?
I have a feeling I should've made it at least another chapter long...
