Several Weeks Later...

"So, your saying that I heal fast because I have powers like my mother?" She asked.

"Yes. You also have different ways to control your power. You can heal and destroy at the same time." Garp spoke.

(F/B) burst into laughter. "You can hurt others and yet you can save them? That's unbelievable."

"But how do I heal others? How do I control my powers?" (Y/N) asked nervously. She didn't even know how to heal herself by actually using the power.

"Well, I'm here to train you two for two weeks aren't I?" Garp grinned.

One Month Later

He burst into laughter, falling on the ground and rolling around like an idiot. She stood above him, hand on her hip, glaring.

"It was my first attempt!" She defended herself, mad at him for making fun of her.

He stopped laughing and smiled at her brightly, pulling himself into a sitting position. "No. You've tried many times before. But one little barrier after trying for so long? C'mon (Y/N), you can do better than that!"

She huffed out a breath but closed her eyes and stretched out one hand in front of her. Concentrating on her palm, she tried to make another barrier that was better than the first. Upon hearing a gasp, she opened her eyes and saw a blue, flaming barrier just big enough to protect her. She grinned but felt her energy draining and let it drop.

(Y/N) turned to look at him with a triumphant smile. "Take that, (F/N)."

He shook his head, smiling. "You did a lot better. But you have to learn to make them bigger and last longer."

"But that's hard." She whined.

"But don't you want to become a pirate?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Of course I do!" She snapped. "I want to leave this hellhole forever and protect you and Yuki-san!"

He grinned. "Then you have to train and get stronger to set sail, (Y/N). Got it?"

"Got it!" She cheered.

And so they got to work. Each day for the next three months, she worked on making her barrier stronger. (F/N) worked on his strength and together, the both of them dueled daily.

"You're weak, (Y/N)." (F/N) taunted as she slammed her fist into his stomach.

She let out a frustrated breath and quickly put up a barrier as he came closer to attack. (F/N) quickly pulled away and aimed for her back which was left unprotected. (Y/N) dodged it swiftly, catching his fist in hers and sending a wave of destructive flames at him, causing him to fly into a tree. He gasped for breath, his eyes wide as he stared at her.

"Well." He sputtered, standing up. "That was new."

"Surprise attack!" She grinned. "I'm not a weakling."

"Though you may lack physical strength, your power comes in handy." He said thoughtfully.

"What do you mean?" She asked, a bit puzzled.

"Learn to control your power in different ways."

Different ways, huh?

She plopped down onto the floor, concentrating, deep in thought.

I already have two ways.

One is the barrier. The other is the wave of flames that sends people flying back.

What should the third be?

Her eyes suddenly widened and she stood up. "I know!"

(F/N) watched as suddenly a blue flaming bow and arrow appeared in her small hands. She had a spark in her eyes as she aimed and launched the arrow and hit a tree.

It exploded.

The impact caused (F/N) to topple over into the dirt as red flames erupted, spreading fast.

"Whoops." (Y/N) said bluntly, though the use of her power made her feel nearly drained.

This sure does take a lot of energy.

(F/N) shook his head. "Don't worry, it's not that big. And anyway," he pointed towards the sky. "There's a storm approaching. I felt the wind shifting earlier today."

She looked up and saw dark clouds and sighed. "You and your weather predicting skills." She huffed. "I wanted to train longer."

"We still can." He shrugged as a drop of rain landed on his head. "We'll learn how to fight under different conditions then."

"Oi! You troublemakers!" A voice yelled, interrupting them. Yuki came into the clearing in the forest, fighting off bushes and pushing aside branches.

"What do you want now, Granny?" (Y/N) asked in a bored voice.

The woman walked over to the young eight year old, holding something wrapped up in a cloth. She put in into the little girls hands. "This is yours."

Curious, (Y/N) started to unwrap the cloth, a bit confused. In her hands she held a sheathed dagger. It was small and had foreign words and designs engraved into the hilt.

"Where is this from?" She breathed in awe.

"It was your mother's."

The girl looked up into her eyes with curiosity. "My mother's?"

"Yes. It's a family heirloom of yours. Your mother used to fight in battle with it."

"Oh." The girl responded, staring at the dagger. She thought for a moment and was suddenly struck with an idea. Smiling, she held the dagger in her palm and pointed it forward, closing her eyes and focusing once more. She felt a gust of wind shoot up, causing her skirt to ripple from the force. Opening her eyes, she stared in amazement as the small dagger grew into a sword; purple, blue, and green mixed in with a dark stormy color. But her energy started to drain faster than any of the other times she used her power and almost immediately she dropped it, causing it to shrink once again. Out of breath, she stared, surprised.

They were all silent for a moment.

"Woah." (F/N) gasped, a goofy smile on his face. "That was awesome! And your eyes were all blue and red too."

"Yeah." She said, still amazed by what she had done but also exhausted. She turned to face Yuki. "You think my mom was able to do that too?"

"Most likely. After all, you're family holds the same power you possess." She responded, still awestruck.

"But I thought only the person who eats the Devil Fruit gets the power." (Y/N) spoke, puzzled. "That's the one thing I don't understand."

Yuki shook her head. "Your grandmother ate a different, rare Devil Fruit. Apparently it gets passed on to the first child of the user." She explained.

"So my mom got it from my grandma. Then I got it from my mom?

Yuki nodded her head.

(Y/N) looked down at the ground. "Is that why they all hate me and call me a freak? Is that why they hurt me all the time?" The young girl looked up with tears in her eyes. "Is it because I'm different and I possess powers beyond their comprehension?"

The old woman looked at the girl sadly and pulled her in for a hug, her heart breaking at the sight. But (Y/N) abruptly pulled away, wiped at the tears feverishly.

"No." She spoke, trying to keep her voice firm. "I will get stronger. I am who I am, just like my mom and grandmother. I will set out to sea and heal others." She straightened her back, her eyes filled with determination. "I'll become the best healer in the world!" She screamed at the top of her lungs. "And no damn thing can stop me!"

(F/N) grinned at her, nodding his head. "We know."

Yuki shook her head. "Go on you two delinquents. I'm not stopping you."

"Even if you did, we wouldn't let you." (F/N) laughed. "(Y/N)'s stubborn and I'll always be by her side to protect her."

(Y/N) scowled at him. "Don't be like a weird overprotective brother."

"Don't be like a weird, rebellious sister then." He glared.

Yuki sighed as the two started bickering.

These two are weird, protective, and rebellious siblings.

Two Years Ago...

"Get back here you idiot!" She screamed, launching herself at him. The two of them went crashing to the floor as the girl started punching him, rage in her eyes.

"Calm down!" He screeched. "Don't abuse me, woman!"

She slapped him across the face. "Where the hell do you think you were going?!"

"Off to sea of course!" He glared as she sat on top of him.

"Without a goodbye?" She said in a quiet voice.

He sighed and averted his eyes. "Maybe."

A tick mark appeared on her head along with a murderous look in her eyes. "You idiot!" She screamed, punching him in the head while standing up. She flipped her loose, long hair over her shoulder, hand on her hip. "What have you got to say for yourself?" She reprimanded him.

He sighed standing up and rolling his eyes. "I'm sorry for being an idiot who doesn't possess empathy."

"Apology accepted, (F/N)." She smiled smugly.

"I'm also sorry that you're a big meanie who hurts my feelings all the time. I truly feel bad for you." He continues, putting a hand over his heart, mockingly.

"You said you have no empathy and now you say that?!" She shouted, knocking him down once more.

"What the hell are you two doing?" Yuki asked, coming up behind them, a tray of food in her hands. She was used to going into the familiar clearing in the woods to give the two kids food as they trained.

"This idiot was trying to go off to sea today, without telling us!" (Y/N) replied, still sitting on him.

"Let him leave, (Y/N)."

"What?!" She exclaimed, standing up. "Without a proper goodbye, Yuki-san?"

"Why should I care about him?" The woman said in a bored voice, hand on her hip. "He finished all the cookies in the house and I absolutely will not have a cookie thief living under my roof!"

(Y/N) sweat dropped as the woman continued to rant about her stolen cookies. She turned back to (F/N) only to find him gone. She sighed though she was still angry at him and immediately turned in the direction of the harbor, walking out of the woods and back into town. She ignored the onlooking eyes of the villagers. She'd grown used pretending that they weren't there after the incident that took place years ago. She ran through the alleyways, her lips set in a grim line.

That idiot. What the hell was he thinking trying to leave without telling us?

She shook her head and sighed, a bit sad at the thought of him leaving. But she knew she'd meet him again out at sea someday! Finally, she arrived at the sandy beach located at the edge of the island and saw (F/N) scrambling into a small boat with a bag on his back.

"So you really are leaving." (Y/N) said in a small voice, her heart slightly breaking at the sight of him getting ready to go.

"Obviously." (F/N) huffed, a grin on his face.

She shook her head, smiling softly. "Shut up you idiot." She said, scrambling into the boat and throwing her arms around his neck.

He wrapped his arms around her torso and laughed. "We'll see each other in two more years, (Y/N). I'll wait for you."

She pulled back, looking into his eyes. "You will?"

"Obviously." He snorted. She smacked him while laughing and got out of the boat just as Yuki appeared beside them.

"Leave already, you cookie thief." The woman glared.

(F/N) shook his chuckled. "See ya, old lady!"

Yuki shook her head. "Don't cause too much of a ruckus in the Grand Line!" She said, her lips quirking up into a small smile.

"Don't worry! I will." He smiled and his remark earned him a slap.

"Well, go on now." She said, her eyes starting to water and she turned away, trying to hide her tears.

He deftly unhooked the rope from the harbor and his boat started to drift off. He waved, smiling as his boat got farther out of sight, flowing away from the island and closer towards the deep blue horizon. (Y/N) waved back, a bright smile on her face.

"Wait for me." She whispered.
