{ (F/N) : (Boy) Friend Name }

----

Nineteen Years Ago...

Rain poured down in a torrent. The dark stormy clouds rolled across the sky. Everything was pitch black.

All the residents of Eloa Village locked themselves up inside their homes. The storm had been raging on for days. Some thought it would never end. There were floods in some areas. Others had oversized puddles in the streets. The rain continued to roar in their ears, falling so hard it was almost like hail. Everything was barely visible.

In the dark of the night, a man walked through narrow alleyways. His hands held a small bundle which he protected from the harsh rain. He went all the way to the South Edge of the town. People in their homes saw him passing and quickly pulled the curtains of their windows closed. They were fearful of what lurked in the dark. And they couldn't tell who or what he was.

But the man held no fear. He was a pirate after all. No one dared cross his path. He was powerful, though he did have health problems that would continue to get worse in the future. But that didn't stop him from protecting those he cared for deeply.

He looked down at the bundle lovingly, smiling a bit. But he had to remind himself not to get too attached and that he'd see her once again in the future. His heart still ached no matter what he told himself. He didn't want to be separated from his own daughter.

He finally reached a small building. It was a bit rundown but he assured himself it was safe. The streetlights flickered. After a few minutes of debating, he sighed, gave in and knocked swiftly on the door.

He waited a few moments until the old, wooden door swung open. It creaked eerily and he was met with a musty, damp smell. A woman in her thirties stood before him. She was smoking a cigarette, her frizzy red hair framing her face. She glowered at him with her dark eyes though behind that it was visible that she was surprised.

"What the hell are you doing out here in this rain?" She spat, crossing her arms.

"Do you not recognize me?" The man asked.

He lifted the hood that shadowed his face. The woman froze, eyes widening. Her cigarette fell to the ground, dying out in the rain.

"W-what—" She sputtered.

"May I come inside?" He asked politely.

She slowly stepped aside, letting him pass through. He walked into the small, crowded kitchen and made his way to the living room. It held a fairly new, leather arm chair along with a coffee table and bookshelf. There was only one window. He looked through the door, back into the kitchen and saw a spiraling set of stairs in the corner.

He finally turned back to the woman. "You must take care of my daughter." He demanded.

"W-what?!" She screeched, her jaw dropping open, still trying to process everything.

He gently put the small bundle into the woman's arms. Confused she looked down. After pulling the warm blanket aside a bit, she gasped as she was met with wide, (E/C) eyes along with a sheathed dagger and a letter lying beside the small figure.

The woman didn't speak for a few minutes. She repeatedly opened her mouth to say something but closed it the next. Finally after a minute, she looked back up into the man's eyes.

"She is yours, isn't she?"

"Yes." He replied. "Would you take care of, (Y/N) until she is a young woman with dreams and ambitions?"

The woman shook her head, complete and utterly confused. She kept glancing down at the baby who was awake. The infant gently reached her hand out to grab the woman's hand and clasped her small fingers onto her thumb.

"Whose child?" She managed to choke out, still looking at the baby girl, wondering who the mother was.

There was no reply. She looked up and saw that he was gone. Her front door was left ajar, thunder rumbling in the sky. The door creaked and wavered from the force of the rain.

Finally, she looked back down at the child who looked up at the woman a bit cautiously but smiled nonetheless.

"(Y/N)." The woman whispered just as lightning struck in the dark of the night, the child's eyes flashing, an icy blue fire burning within along with blood red pupils.

Inhuman.

Twelve Years Ago...

She hit the ground hard, pain consuming her. The impact knocked the breath out of her causing her to wheeze. Bruises covered her arms along with scratches and gashes. Her eyes were squeezed shut as she gasped in agony.

She heard snickers of laughter and slowly opened her eyes. They stared at her with malice and she shrunk back in fear.

One of the boys stood above her, a large stick in his hands. "Pathetic." He sneered in disgust.

She tried to get back up again, her arms shaking violently. But he kicked her, causing her to collapse once more. She gritted her teeth in pain and glared at him.

"You measly weakling. Go back to where you belong." He seethed.

But she looked behind him at the other girl, Aieko who stared at her terrified, blond hair a mess. She was too much of a coward to stand up for her. In return, the injured girl glared at her with hatred.

I hate you.

The beaten girl crawled away in attempt to escape and stood up despite the pain.

I have to get away.

But one of her ankles was broken which made simply standing a difficult task. She clutched her broken fingers as well, deep loathing in her eyes. The kids just looked at her with sick malice and started advancing towards her once more.

The boy slammed his fist across her face sending her flying. She hit the ground again, and spit out a tooth along with blood as her breathing became labored.

"You filthy piece of trash. You don't belong here." Aieko screamed from behind, shaking in fear with her wide eyes.

Betrayal flowed through the young girl's body and she narrowed her eyes at Aieko, the one person who used to be nice to her before.

"You don't either!" She screamed back, her voice raw and anger burning in her eyes. "You're a weakling! You've never punched or hit anyone before! Go back and play with your stupid dolls." She sneered in disgust and spat blood in Aieko's direction.

That earned her another punch from the boy. "Don't talk to my sister like that you piece of—"

He was cut off as Aieko marched up to the girl and slammed her small fist across her face.

The girl just laughed bitterly. "That was weak. It didn't hurt a bit, baby."

Infuriated, Aieko kicked her in the stomach. And the other kids stepped up too, ready to beat the little girl lying on floor.

There was no way to escape.

After all, this happened every week.

The woman waited anxiously, glancing at the clock every few seconds. It was already eleven at night. She had the urge to smoke but she hadn't done that in seven years and she wouldn't start now. Instead, she settled with beer and sat the the small kitchen table, filled with worry.

In front of her was the dagger and the letter given to her years before. She knew what had been happening to the child for years. Yet she couldn't stop it. The entire town despised the young girl she took care of. There wasn't much the woman could do to save the child from her suffering.

After a half hour, the door finally opened. She stood up and watched as a beat up young girl stumbled through the threshold, bloodied and clutched her arm. A boy was supporting her and the girl flashed the woman a crooked smile though in her eyes the agonizing suffering was visible.

"Y-yuki-san." She stuttered.

"(Y/N)!" The woman shrieked, appalled, her chair toppling over as she rushed towards the child.

(Y/N) collapsed.

Two Hours Before...

He stared at her with wide eyes. "Are you okay?"

"Get away." She whimpered, trying to crawl away on her back. She was bleeding, covered in scratches and bruises. The pain, fear, and disgust in her eyes were clearly visible.

He hesitantly reached out a hand to help her but she instantly recoiled, turning her head away and putting her arms up as if to protect herself. The boy looked at her sadly.

"I just want to help." He said softly.

The girl abruptly burst into tears. "No you don't." She spat venomously. "You hate me just like the rest of them."

He looked at her, hurt by her words. "I'm not like them." He said softly, a hint of anger in his voice.

"How do you expect me to believe that?!" She wailed. "Everyone leaves me once they find out who I am! They always hurt me after that."

"Then tell me who you are." The boy said firmly, looking her straight in the eyes, desperately wanting to help. She looked so fragile and delicate like glass.

"But then you'll hit me too." She sniffed, clutching her broken arm gently.

"What if I told you that my father became a pirate and massacred his hometown? And that I ran away but the people of this village still managed to find out who I am?" He shot back, his eyes becoming watery. "I was and still am blamed and accused repeatedly."

He raised his sleeves on his arms revealing bruises and scratches similar to hers. "Don't you think I get hurt too?" His voice cracked, tears starting to fill his eyes.

She was quiet for a minute.

Finally she cautiously patted the hard ground beside her with her good arm. The boy obeyed and gently sat down next to her.

"I'll tell you everything." She said in a small voice. "But only if you tell me everything too."

"I'm (F/N)." He replied, looking into the girls (E/C) eyes.

"And I'm (Y/N)." She smiled crookedly with a gap in her teeth.

Together they both looked up at the dark sky. All that was visible was a single star. But it was enough.

It was the only ray of light that stood as hope in their painful lives.

One Month Later...

"No! You can't leave." The woman declared.

(Y/N) glared at her. "Yes, I can!" She shouted stubbornly. "I will not stay inside for any longer. I'm completely healed now anyway. I already was two weeks ago!" She moved and bent her previously broken arm and fingers for emphasis.

"No means no, (Y/N)." The woman shot back.

"Exactly!" (Y/N) fought back. "I told you, Yuki-san, I don't want to stay here. I said no to you, therefore I can in fact leave."

"Stupid, smart seven-year-old." Yuki muttered.

This fight had been going on for twenty minutes. It was hopeless.

Exasperated, the woman looked at the young boy for help, who watched from afar, an amused expression on his face. She had taken him under her aid as well and he'd been living with them for the past month now. "(F/N), can you knock some sense into her?"

He shook his head, amused. "Sorry, Yuki-san. It's impossible. But it has been a while since she's been out." The nine-year-old replied thoughtfully.

Yuki sighed, irritated. "She can't leave. She'll only get hurt again." She nervously glanced out the bedroom window. "And they've egged the house twice now."

"Don't worry." He said gently. "I'll watch over her and protect her. I promise."

Yuki hesitated for a moment and kept glancing at the hopeful young girl who waited for an answer.

"Fine." She gave in.

(Y/N) silently cheered in the corner, smiling at the boy whose cheeks tinged pink. She quickly scrambled out of bed and ran towards the bathroom to get ready.

Yuki shook her head but a small smile crossed her lips. "What am I going to do with that girl?"

(F/N) laughed. "She is stubborn."

Within seconds (Y/N) returned wearing a black skirt and red shirt along with small boots. The young girl smiled and grabbed (F/N)'s hand.

"Let's go!" She smiled, a light twinkle in her mostly dull eyes.

(F/N) stared at her in awe.

How can she smile so bright after everything?

Little did they know that that would change.

A/N

Honestly, I was extremely hesitant whether or not to post this chapter. I think it's terrible. I can't write in third person properly. I'm sorry.

THIS IS SHORT I KNOW!
It's only part of (Y/N)'s past.

Obviously her backstory is going to be a lot longer.

I can't wait!

Okay, I should stop now.
But anyways, here's your new chapter! This chapter was made like a month ago but it needed to edited.

----

I'm trying not to reveal way too much but the story is almost over so there are hints thrown here and there in this chapter. The full truth will be revealed in the next two chapters.

----

(Y/N)'s backstory will be about 3-4 chapters long. It actually took me a while to come up with it. Most of it ties in with her personality and actions. If you reread the story after, the little hints thrown here and there in the beginning will make a lot of sense.
