Chapter 11
Dubai;
According to Bipin's orders, the team had left for their postings but Nakul remained in Dubai. He had immediate orders of going underground.
Nakul shifted into a small one-room flat on a boat at the shore of Warsaw lake. A 10*10 room consisting of one single bed and a bathroom with barely enough space to stand up straight and stretch your arm. In the 6 months that followed, Nakul understood what it was to be an agent. The dark side of it. With no internet access, 2 sets of clothes, no music and only one downloaded film to watch repeatedly, he was slowly growing mad. No communication, nothing.
He with much hesitation finally made a man out of a coconut with a sketch pen and started talking to him daily. Wondering about the life of agents, he began to pen down his thoughts.
The main thing about this life is that the agent knows that he is alone. Meeting with the team or family and contacting is a luxury one cannot afford often. He realised how this field works on espionage. How good spies are never known to anyone. Not even to their own families. R&AW agents are known and get recognised by their failures and not by their success.
Self-introspection made it's way to Nakul's mind and he started questioning each of his decisions in each of his missions.
6 months passed and the situation died down. Nakul had managed to survive.
Back on the grid, Nakul spent time on some research regarding the case and observed some CCTV footages sent by Zoya.
All of a sudden, something clicked. Nakul went back to his house, picked up guns and ammunition. He went to the top of a skyscraper on a building and measured the wind. As he set up the sniper stand, he called the emergency number he was supposed to call in case of extreme trouble, Avinash in the Indian Embassy.
As Avinash picked up the phone, Nakul spoke through his earpiece "Been assigned a mission. Need assistance."
"Speak quick, Nakul. I don't have time to waste." Barked Avinash.
"In the window, quick. You'll see me on the roof of the building next to yours."
As Avinash made his way to the window, he saw a sniper rifle pointed straight at his head.
"What is this nonsense, Nakul?" He asked, his voice shivering.
Nakul didn't respond but took the shot. As Avinash's body collapsed in the Indian Embassy, Nakul packed his sniper. The speaker on the other side, baffled. Bipin was shocked to the core.
