Chapter 1

My name is Luna, which means moon in Latin. I have been around since the dawn of the AD times, so give or take around 2,000 years.

     What am I though? Well, that is a very good question. I am the moon goddess. I have many jobs. My main ones, though, are turning the moon around the Earth, watching over my gens (Latin word for people), keeping harmony within my realm, and mating 2 of my gens together. It's a job I was gifted and after 2,000 years, still love it.

     I have created my own realm, and in that realm, there's lots of magic. There are 5 types of supernatural people: vampires, werewolves, witches, and fairies, and mermaids.

     The vampires are the fastest with incredible agility, and drink animal blood for nourishment. All that human crap about them drinking human blood is ridiculous--they have moral standards, smh. Only the crazies try to drink human blood.

     Werewolves have "super" strength and heightened senses. When they turn 13, at their first full moon of that age they shift uncontrollably. After that, they can shift into their wolf form when they please. There's packs in the form of towns and cities, each with a set of alphas (the most elite and strong people), betas (often advisors of alphas), gammas (the normal werewolves that comprise the majority of the population), and omegas (they're the weakest, and there's the least amount of them. The most there's ever been in a city was 5, and that city had the population of NYC).  Werewolves are also the most perceptive to mating bonds, and there's a lot of romance stories written about their pairings.

     Witches and wizards have the ability to heal with magic and can concoct potions. They're most often doctors as they have the ability to heal. They are also the most human like and easily blend in with humans. There's very few of them that are evil, unlike what some humans say. Just because of Jezebel, who terrorized thousands of settlements across hundreds of empires and countries back in early 1600s. Those freaking dumb humans stereotyping.

     Fairies are quite cute, if you ask me. Almost all of them are bright and positive. There are two types of fairies: those that tend to animals and those that tend to plants. The fairies that tend to animals talk to, heal, and raise animals. Animals also love them and never try to hurt them, and will assist. Even hornets love them. Fairies that tend to animals grow, heal, pollenate (kinda like bees), and talk to plants. They are immune to all plant based poisons and can move plants in whatever way, along with conjuring plants whenever they need to. All fairies have wings and the ability to fly. This adds to their cuteness, if you ask me. They're my children but honestly I don't deserve their adorableness.

     Mermaids are the only sort of human-gens in the water. They live in bodies of salt water or a really large body of fresh water. They attend to sea life and control currents. All the sea creatures, even the most deadly, don't attack them as mermaids heal them. They're like the fairies of the water and are quite beautiful. It's really cool when their mate bond connects, because a beam of light appears that connects right to the other merfolk.

     When it comes to mating, I find someone that would best suit another being of that type (werewolf with werewolf, vampire with vampire, etc). It is very rare when there's not another gens of their type within a 10 year age radius that does not match them. Whenever a mated pair accepts eachother, though, it is quite joyous. However, witches don't have mates. When I first created them, all of them rejected their mate because they refused to have something set out for them and wanted to find love on their own. There was soon too much heart ache and depression amongst them, so I removed all forms of mated pairs from them. Even if for example a vampire's best match is with a witch, I won't allow it--too much of a chance that the witch will reject the vampire which will be devastating on both parties. And no witch has ever wanted to be paired anyways, so it works out.

     You might find this strange, but I too was once a mortal--I didn't appear out of thin air. Before my gens, which I created, there was only humans. And I was one. I made people who had all these gifts that normal humans didn't. But most importantly, I wanted people to love and people who loved me in return.

     Now, enough with introductions. On with the story!

~~~
That day, all things had been going smoothly in the realms. Mated pairs accepted eachother and were married, people were born, birthdays were celebrated, people broke up and hearts were broken, lives were lost, death-days were honored, the usual. Until there was one infans (baby) with a situation. As I searched for gens to be born in their life or within a 10 year radius age gap already born, there was no match. When I searched through humans and other equos/supernatural beings (heck I went as far as searching the unicorns, pegasi, and alicorns!), there were no matches there, either.
     What the frick? How could this happen?! I pondered. Have I failed as the moon goddess?!
     I'll have to keep a close eye on him. I may not know why this happening right now but I will eventually.
