Steven Universe AU!!!!!

(( MONTHS IN THE MAKING; IT'S FINALLY HERE! THE SU AU! (Yes, the airport au is still being written, it's almost done, dw.) ))

Everything was quiet.

Scott sighed, biting into his lettuce and tomato sandwich and crunching on it. His feet kicked aimlessly at the side of the stage he was sitting on. Somewhere in the distance, a clock ticked and tocked to itself. There was perfect quiet in the Dining Hall, and Scott wouldn't disturb the peace for a second. He turned to look at Vincent, who was sitting beside him, and smiled slightly. There was something oddly comforting about having Vincent around. No words were spoken, and yet Scott didn't feel lonely - on the contrary, he felt content.

He wondered if he should tell him.

The thought flitted across his mind for one second. It seemed like it would be so easy to do. Surely, all he had to do was open his mouth and the words would fall right out of it.

And yet... he didn't want to ruin what they had. Not over some stupid fluttering of the heart, anyway.

Vincent spoke without looking at him, his voice dull, "You're staring."

Scott jumped slightly, his words sounding so loud in the quiet. Flushing, he looked back down at his knees, "Sorry, I didn't notice." Ugh. Vincent was so formal, always so distant. Why was it that his mysterious demeanour was so alluring?

Vincent sighed, leaning back on the Show Stage and resting on his elbows, "You ever fused, Scott?"

Scott's eyes widened slightly. He put his sandwich down on the plate beside him, his face shading with colour, "I... Um, well..." He cleared his throat, "W-Well, no." He admitted at last, feeling ridiculously stupid.

"No?" Vincent hummed, looking amused. "That doesn't surprise me."

Scott scoffed, unable to help feeling offended. The first time Vincent talked about something other than work, and it was to insult him? "Excuse you? What do you mean by that?"

"You just don't seem confident enough," Vincent explained. "I can't imagine you being bold enough to make the first move."

Scott glared childishly, his whole face pink. "W-Well, t-that's a load of rubbish! O-of course I can make the first move. I'm not a coward, Vincent."

Vincent laughed, "I suppose you just haven't found 'The One' yet, huh? That's what they all say. Saving up your first fuse for someone special..." He shook his head. "Wimp."

Scott's eyes narrowed even further. He glowered at Vincent, adrenaline running through his veins with every breath, and then, in a blur of movement and a rush of all kinds of different emotions, Scott somehow found himself on his hands and knees over Vincent, "V-Vincent, I-" He swallowed, "I want you to fuse with me!"

Vincent's eyes widened for one second, and then they narrowed, as Vincent smirked, "Oh, really?"

"R-Really," Scott insisted, determined to prove that he could go through with it.

Vincent chuckled, a deep, almost mocking sound. He pushed himself up from where he was lying down, so close that their bodies were little more than a centimetre from touching. He whispered teasingly against Scott's lips, "Alright then. Let's fuse."

Scott had to bite down on his lip hard to stop from letting out a small whimper, his heart beating so fast he was sure he was about to faint. He couldn't believe it! His first fusion! With Vincent?! He was so nervous, and the way Vincent was staring him down wasn't helping. It was like Scott was his new playtoy, and he was determined to tease him until the tension made it impossible for Scott to go through with it.

"Well?" Vincent purred, his voice so deep and flirty it made Scott's head spin, "Are you gonna just gawk at me all night, or are we gonna dance?"

"M-Mhm!" Scott whimpered out, nodding his head furiously. He reluctantly pulled himself away from Vincent's body and moved to the side so he could sit up.

Vincent hummed a tune, sliding off the stage and stretching, "Oooh, it's been a long time since I fused with someone~" Scott swore he dragged out all the words just to tease Scott even more, "It's gonna feel gooood to do it again..." He disappeared into a closet beside the stage.

Scott let out a deep, ragged breath in an attempt to calm himself down. He slowly hopped off of the stage. This is the worst idea I've ever had! Oh, my gawd, he's going to be all pressed up against me, and what if I stumble and break it, and I can't believe I agreed to this!

Vincent reappeared. In one hand, he carried a small portable radio. He placed it up on the stage, making sure the ariel was extended before clicking it on. White noise filled the room and Vincent played with the knob, until the static gave way to classical music, and Vincent smiled.

Scott felt his knees turn to jelly as Vincent slowly walked over to him, seeming intent on making it as painful as possible. He stopped in front of Scott, meeting his eyes. He had the most intense, interrogating stare; like he had stripped Scott down until just the purest, most intimate side of him was left. His hand slid onto Scott's hip and Scott screwed his eyes shut, letting out a weak, "Oh, God..."

"What's wrong?" Vincent's voice was barely above a whisper, as his fingers reached for Scott's other hand, and intertwined. "Are you nervous, Scott?" He chuckled.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, YES! Scott pried his eyes open, trying not to focus on how he could see every detail of Vincent's face, "N-No..." his voice wavered treacherously, as he slowly placed his hand on Vincent's shoulder. "Not at all."

Vincent grinned again, "You're a natural liar." And like that, he pulled Scott close to his body, and began to move his feet.

Scott gasped slightly, stumbling at first but quickly rushing to keep up with Vincent. He stared down at their feet intently, focusing on making a box with their shoes, as they slowly waltzed around the room. As he became more confident, he finally raised his head to look at Vincent, his heart racing.

Vincent smiled at him, "You're a good dancer. You sure this is your first time?"

Scott let out the tiniest of nervous laughs - more like a warbling squeak - and clutched Vincent closer to him, "I-I-I g-guess... I-I may h-have... practised. A-A little bit." He repressed a grin, fighting off memories of hours and hours of waltzing in front of the mirror, fantasizing that Vincent was in his arms...

And now here he was.

"Well then, you won't mind if I move things along..." Vincent purred, suddenly throwing Scott out in a pirouette, and pulling him back so that he span in against Vincent's body, ending up with his back pressed firmly to Vincent's chest.

Scott mewled nervously, as he started to feel his stomach swirling, a slight ringing growing in his ears. It felt as though butterflies were fluttering through his body, and from the look Vincent had on his face, he was feeling the same way.

Vincent spun Scott back out again, this time throwing him into a dip, leaning over him as Scott felt the ringing in his ears grow louder, starting to feel light headed. He glanced downwards and saw that a soft glow had started around their bodies. Nerves struck him all at once, and the light flickered for just a second. "Vincent...!" he whispered, looking up at him, "B-Before we do this... t-there's something... I need to tell you."

Over the ringing, Scott could just make out Vincent laughing. He leaned in, and Scott felt their lips brush against each other. "Oh, Scott," he murmured, "I already know."

And then, in a moment of absolute bliss, Vincent's lips pressed against Scott's, and they were kissing. Scott gasped, something incredible stirring within his bones as he kissed back as passionately as he could, the ringing in his ears getting louder and louder until there was an incredible crescendo, and suddenly, all Scott could see was bright light.

--

"Ohhhhh," Scott groaned, blinking slightly as the light faded. He reached up to rub his eyes- and gasped when his vision cleared to see that he had four hands.

"Oh my goodnes!" Scott yelped, "We did it! We fused!" And then, an odd sensation as he suddenly replied to himself, "Well, what did you think was going to happen?"

Scott let out a giggle, bursting into laughter, "We did it! We fused! I'm-We're a fusion!" He paused as once again, he had the weird feeling of speaking back to himself, "Of course we're a fusion, duh. Feels good, doesn't it? Come on, let's find a mirror and see what we look like."

"A-Alright!" Scott somehow managed to get onto his four hands and two knees, then trying to get to his feet. He wobbled, yelping, and tripped over, stumbling for a few metres before falling back to his knees. "You're too short! We can't walk in a small body" he snapped at himself. "Short?" He scoffed back, "You're way too tall!"

He rolled two of his four eyes, and got to his feet again, this time waiting a few moments to gain his balance before taking a step forward. "Woooaaah! This feels awesome!" A pause, and then, "I told us so."

Scott giggled, walking towards the mirror at the end of the hallway, "We've really gotta start thinking in sync. All the other fusions talk without overlapping each other. Just look at Garnet." He sighed, "Give us some time. It's not easy when you've just fused together for the first time, okay? We're a whole new person. We don't just suddenly start working in sync."

Scott stopped walking as he reached the mirror, and gasped, "Oh, my gosh..."

"We're so handsome!" Scott squeaked at last, doing a small turn around in the mirror, examining every inch of himself. "We're so hot!"

He laughed at himself, "Hot, are we? That's definitely my half. So, what are we gonna call ourselves?"

Scott thought for a moment, "How about... Purplephone?"

"Purplephone, huh?" he asked, and then nodded. "We like it."

"So, then..." He wondered aloud, "Are we gonna unfuse?"

He hummed quietly. "Not just yet... I kinda like this new us~"
