You let out a soft sigh before you start to walk towards the place you've been dreading to: Jimin's house.

Bringing your hand into a fist, you manage to softly knock on his door. You glance around his front lawn as you wait for him to open the door, if he's home, that is. He hasn't reached out to you since last night.

With a soft creak, Jimin's door open and he looks at you, a blank stare on his face. You gulp and look away from him as you begin fiddling with your fingers.

"Um... can I..." you shake your head and find the courage to look him in the eyes to finish speaking. "Can I come in?" Jimin gives an uninterested nod before stepping aside, making room for you to walk into his home. Closing the door behind you, he crosses his arms over his chest and makes his way to the kitchen.

Maybe I shouldn't have woken him up at 10 in the morning to talk about this...

Arriving at his Keurig, he begins preparing a coffee for himself before looking over at you. Silently offering you a cup, he holds up his mug and arches an eyebrow. Shaking your head, your tongue glides along your lips as you awkwardly sit down onto his couch, sitting with your legs squeezed together. Your posture reflects your uneasiness with this situation: proper and tense.

Jimin sighs softly before he walks over to you, coffee in his hand as he sits on the couch next to you, but not as close as he usually does.

"So, we need to talk." You quietly mutter. Nodding his head, Jimin looks over at you.

"Yeah, we do."

"You can go first..." you state before looking over at him. Setting his coffee onto his table, he turns his body to face you as he leans back on the couch.

"Well, I don't think that me getting jealous should be an issue when you get jealous of Sowon all the time," he starts before scratching the back of his neck. "I know you think that you're an average girl... but you're not. There's a ton of guys and girls out there that would kill to date you." He states.

Reaching over to place his hand on yours, he gently gives it a squeeze as you slowly look up to face the man that has been testing your readiness for a relationship. You thought things would be easy with you two.

Sadly, things are never easy between two broken people.

"You asked me to shun Sowon essentially, and even though I didn't do it in a rude way, I still did what you wanted to make you happy," he states before licking his lips as he looks over at you. "That's why I don't understand why you made it sound so... bad... for me to ask you to do the same with Jungkook." You let out a soft sigh as he becomes quiet for a moment.

"I-"

"I'm not finished," he states before he removes his hand from yours. "I've been trying really hard to advance our relationship. I know it hasn't been a long time, but I think I've proven to you that you can trust me enough to move forward in this relationship. I'm not asking for your hand in marriage or anything, not right now anyway, but all I want is to know we're going somewhere. I set up the friend dinner, the double date, the surprise dinner with our family, and all of that was to show you that you can trust me." You bite onto your lower lip and you refrain yourself from shaking your head. Jimin grows quiet, indicating that you can speak now.

"Jimin," you start before turning to face him. "The only reason I think it's not fair for you to ask me to isolate Jungkook and not talk to him is because, yes, even though you told Sowon to back off, you didn't continue to remind her to do so." Jimin nods his head.

Opening his mouth, he's ready to respond before he pauses, allowing you to take your time to finish speaking.

"You can be jealous as much as you want but asking me not to even go near him isn't fair because you wouldn't do that with Sowon. I've mentioned that I'm a jealous person already, so I don't have any issues with you being jealous too. I just don't want us to have a lack of trust that brings things to the point where we excommunicate someone. I'd rather just have one of us move offices."

You watch as Jimin nods his head for a moment while combing his fingers through his hair.

"Also, it's not that I don't trust you to move forward with you. I'm not ready to." You state while looking away from Jimin and down at your lap as you fiddle with your fingers. "Jimin, at that dinner with our parents, I had an anxiety attack in the bathroom..." you gulp, too nervous to see Jimin's reaction to that.

"You did?" he asks, his voice growing more quiet, his voice cracking towards the end of that sentence. "Baby, I'm so sorr-"

"You didn't know, you thought it'd be a nice surprise, it's not your fault," you state before you look over at him. He's now the one looking down at his lip, unable to look at you. "You don't have to apologize. I loved the necklace and the dinner with our friends and the double date. Those aren't the issues with me. The issue comes up when you get me presents for anniversaries that I didn't even know we had, when you don't warn me about meeting your family, when you start saying you want to have kids already. I just got out of college recently, Jimin. I just started supporting myself and I'm barely doing a good job at that. I can't even fill my fridge properly. You think I could support a kid at this time?" You ask while watching as Jimin slowly nods his head.

"I'm sorry," he starts before making his voice more quiet. "I didn't mean to rush you... I just... I want to give you the security you need. I want to give you that so you don't feel so insecure and think badly about yourself." You nod your head and rest your hand on his thigh for a moment.

"Jimin, that fight yesterday made me realize how stressful relationships are, and I don't like that aspect of relationships." You utter out. "I know it's part of the title of boyfriend and girlfriend, but I just don't think I'm ready to be going through arguments like that after being hurt so many times."

"But we can work through those arguments together. That's what couples do. That's what Jennie and Namjoon do and you said that we can look up-"

"I know what I said," you state before letting out a soft sigh. "But you've been so focused on pleasing me that you've been distracted. You haven't danced in months, you haven't been focusing on work as much, you're not yourself anymore, Jimin. You're trying to be what I want you to be, not who you really are. I don't want you losing yourself for me... and I'm sure you wouldn't want me doing that for you either." He nods his head before looking over at you. You can see the tears in his eyes that are threatening to fall.

You haven't seen him this broken since that night in his car when he first told you about how he's broken.

"But..." he starts before licking his lips. His voice is unsteady as he feels the tears ready to form.

"Jimin, are you crying? Please don't cry, I'm not doing this to hurt you and you know that." You state while leaning closer to him as you rest your hand on his. He slowly shakes his head.

"I-I'm not... I'm not c-crying." He states while he looks away from you, using the sleeve of his long sleeve sweater to wipe at his eyes. The tears are no longer threatening to fall and are now dripping down his cheeks, some tears falling into the crevice of the side of his mouth. He licks his lips as he tastes his salty tears for a moment before taking a deep breath. He's trying his best to steady his breathing.

Seeing him this way causes tears to form in the corner of your eyes too. You gulp, trying to be strong for Jimin, knowing that if you cry, Jimin will do something to make you feel better and forget about his own feelings.

Taking a deep breath, you look away from Jimin and stare up at the ceiling, not letting one tear drip down your face as you turn towards him.

"Jimin," you say as your voice cracks a little bit. "Baby, for you to do things for yourself, I think we should... distance... ourselves from one another." His head snaps up as he looks over at you, his lips parted as his tears continue to fall. The look on his face causes your heart to crack into quarters.

"But... baby-" he says before pausing as he lets more tears stream down his face. This causes your heart to break into eighths.

"Baby, I know..." you say before you scoot a little away from him on the couch. This causes Jimin to try to move closer to you. "I know you've tried so hard to date me. I'm sorry." You state before standing up. Jimin immediately stands up, reaching his hand out to you as he drops to his knees.

"Don't break up with me... please." He states while staring up at you.

"Baby, look at yourself." You state while gesturing to him wrapping his arms around your legs. He looks down at his arms wrapped around your body. Sighing softly, you bend down to place a soft kiss on his lips. "I want you to get better. Not for me, for you. I'm going to get better too." You state.

"Does this mean we're still together? After we get better, we can be together again?" he immediately asks. You reach a hand up and place it under his chin as you stare into his eyes. His eyes are desperate, needy, for you. Your heart is now shattered in pieces that will take more than superglue to fix.

"Baby, I'm not even going to lie. I'm not going to say that after this we'll get back together because I don't know." Your voice is now a whisper before you press your lips together and sigh gently. "I don't want to get your hopes up because I know that if I do, you won't get better for you, you'll only get better for me."

"No, I won't baby. I'll get better for me, I promise."

Not answering Jimin, you shake your head before leaning down to press a soft kiss onto his lips.

Jimin's lips are salty once your lips are pressed to his. The salty tears mixed with his cherry lip balm causes a bittersweet taste to enter your mouth as you kiss him.

A bittersweet kiss for a bittersweet, unexpected break up.

***
A sad chapter, I know. I almost considered changing this and adding some stuff to it but keep in mind, Y/N is only breaking up with him bc of the whole "him losing himself" thing. She doesn't want to be like his dance partner in the sense of being selfish and having him forget who he is and the things he loves to be with her. She initially went in to talk to him about their problems but i purposefully haven't had Jimin hanging out with the other boys that much (except Namjoon) and not dancing as much since they started dating on purpose to show that he's turning into the guy who doesn't see his friends unless his girlfriend is with him (which isn't healthy bc everyone needs to have times where they're just with their friends and/or family).

I love all of you.

Kim
