Fifteen: Flour Power 🧁

The worst thing about lunchtime during prom season was Cecelia's cookies and cupcakes. The massive group of jocks gathered together for their queen bee in the hallway as students casually sat at their rightful tables and swiftly tried to avoid the sugar rush that mounded hers.

Cupcakes went into just about every teenager's hands besides Aaron's and mine in the Cafeteria. I would have to induce vomiting if I ate one of those nasty things.

Jessica was staring at me, smacking lips with Brennan, and I couldn't look away for some reason until Aaron brought me out of my thoughts.

"What do you even see in Brennan?" He asked me. I don't know. Maybe good looks and bad boy charm, but that was just a hunch.

"I don't know?" I puckered my lips, annoyed, and rolled my eyes at a jock crossing his eyes in my direction while sucking on frosting.

"We're not going to turn this into another food fight, are we?" Aaron raised an eyebrow at me, snapping me out of my trance again.

"What? Are you my dad?"

"No. I'm just worried about you," he replied, licking pudding from his pearly white teeth.

"Well, don't be," I snapped, grabbing my pudding cup from my tray and slipping off the cover. I dug my spoon into the chocolate goo before sucking it down.

"Cupcake!!!! Who else needs a cupcake?" Cecelia cried, holding up the last couple of baked goods before her eyes landed on my table.

Shit, Is it too late to run?

"It looks like Scarecrow and Aunty Em need one." She flicked her finger in my direction, and two boys grabbed cupcakes from the tray. "Hurry, boys."

Ha, if she thought I was taking a cupcake from her wicked little fingers, she was sad—

Smash... slop. A cupcake slopped onto my head as the toxic smell of cupcakes wafted in the air.

"You bitch," Aaron screeched as a cupcake smashed into his perfectly wavy blonde hair. "I'm going to—"

"What? Kill me because that's a threat you don't want to be tossing out, sweetie," Cece fluttered her lashes at Aaron and booped his nose before he swatted her away.

"I'm going to call my lawyer on you and press charges. Emily and I are not taking this crap from anyone anymore—" He wiped the cupcake from his hair and chucked it in her direction.

"Have fun with that. My daddy probably has waaaayyy better lawyers than your daddy. His lawyers can run laps around yours."

Aaron huffed, slipping the last bit of frosting from his hair and face, and gave in. Panic rose in my chest with all eyes on us in the cafeteria. I felt like screaming, but instead, I rose from my seat and quickly rushed from the room, trying to find the nearest bathroom while Aaron chased after me.

What the fuck—what the fuck—WHAT THE FUCK!

My panic continued to rise in my chest until I screeched in the hallway and collapsed in front of a set of lockers, tears welling in my eyes.

Aaron kneeled next to me, rubbing my back, which happened to work for a while, until my brown eyes met his blue puppy dog eyes.

"Breathe, Emily." Aaron pleaded with me, his voice barely a whisper.

"She's such a bitch!" I screamed again, my lungs burning from the screaming.

"I know," Aaron admitted. "But she'll get her Karma at one point."

There was silence for a moment, as I listened to his heavy breathing. "At least you didn't cause a scene in the Cafeteria this time," he muttered aloud.

I rolled my eyes—asshole.

"Why do you even have to bring that up?" I muttered back at him through gritted teeth. He snaked his arm away from my back and sighed.

"You know it wasn't your fault. Brennan was the reason that food fight broke out. You should tell Davis the truth—"

"Don't you think I've tried?" I growled.

"It doesn't hurt to try again," his eyes did that puppy dog stare again and I nearly lost it. "Come with me to the boys restroom and we'll get some of that cupcake out of your hair," He held out his hand and I grabbed it as he swiftly yanked me from the floor, and whipped me down the hallway.

Then, I was standing in front of the forbidden men's bathroom. The one no woman or girl dared enter. There I was, about to get into big trouble if we were caught, but at least I had Aaron there to support me in all this. I was nervous for a long moment, taking hesitant breaths of pumping adrenaline into my lungs before Aaron popped open the doorway.

"After you, my lady," he said.

"So generous," I huffed with an eyeroll, before marching past him into the room.
