9: Fierce Sparks

"No fucking way dude."

"Are you for real?!"

"Nah, that ain't your type of dick."

"You should've seen how shocked I was in class when I saw this dude kiss Jungkook's cheek during class. I did not expect it!"

"Damn since when have you been hitting it bro?"

That was all Jungkook was swarmed by the second he stepped into the locker room, from both his teammates and the volleyball team - who he didn't even know most of them. Not a surprise that the word spread quickly of his relationship with Jimin after that class they had together, which had a player of the volleyball team in it too.

He sure didn't waste time in being a fucking bullhorn about it.

Even though that occasion wasn't the only time they were spotted 'together'.

After that class period, they did go to the cafeteria together to get lunch. Yoongi was obviously with them the entire time, to which Jimin was evidently bothered by it but since he's blue, he has to be his nice friendly self all the time.

So he would go along with Yoongi's wavelength of questions, putting a friendly boundary when he would get too ahead of himself, but never the less, was still trying to be nice.

As per usual, Jungkook didn't really put mind into it so much and was most of the time on his phone to give the two their moment alone-ish.

Yoongi was over the fucking moon, nothing would take that smile off his face as Jimin spoke to him.

It was a sickening sight to see.

But at least Jungkook didn't have to bare through it most of the time because he was playing those silly iMessage games with Taehyung, so that had most of his attention throughout the entire lunch period.

Anyways, a few people from the team saw them together and it kinda confirmed the rumor for them.

Okay, just to clarify and give a little more insight, college students honestly don't give a single shit about anyone here. The campus is too big with people barely knowing each other to make a big deal of who's dating or not. It's like being invisible - kinda, you're only really known if you participate in a lot of programs at once that will have people noticing you.

Besides, people got shit to do outside of class that's far more important than worrying about who broke up with who or who hooked up with who.

You literally go to class and then leave, that's it.

So different from high school, since you actually have space here.

But once you're in a school team, it somehow feels like still being in high school again. Since the teams are sometimes close to each other, it's as though they have their own world that's far away from academics - like having your own cliché or friends in a school. Everyone somewhat knows each other, either because of skill or rank in the team - whatever the case may be.

Since the teams that represent this school have built that connection to know each other well, they suddenly think they can just stick their noses to everyone's business of some gossip that blossoms in whichever team it is.

And now the main headliner being Jungkook, team captain of the football team, relationship with Jimin, team captain of the volleyball team.

Both big ranks, definitely taking the spotlight.

Everyone here knows Jungkook's type of reputation - even if he doesn't fucking know anyone else besides his team and the girls football team - and that is being the intimidating, monotone, sticking to their own side type of person, very quiet too. Which is not wrong.

But it's so different from Jimin.

Everyone here knows Jimin cycle with relationships, perhaps not to great depths when involving the palette, but they know enough that he does change when he's in a relationship.

Jungkook is consistent, Jimin is versatile.

Two different worlds completely.

So of course, no one was expecting this.

Especially from Jungkook since they all knew how deeply in love he was with Taehyung.

They were there through the whole process, so maybe they expected him to linger on a little while more before moving on.

Guess that wasn't the case.

Amongst this whole mess in the locker room, instead of Jungkook engaging with them about this rumor, he only left his headphones on and ignored all the bombarding questions as he walks to his section and his locker. A few players of the team were there, eying him or perhaps saying shit they expected for him to hear but obviously his music was louder than all their voices combined.

He didn't want to hear it.

Any of it.

He's getting into the football zone, and when he's getting into it he doesn't want to hear shit from anyone else that's not related to practice or football in general.

His teammates knew that, so no doubt it was the newbies making commentaries about this gossip.

It won't last long either way.

"Hey! Move it to practice! Let's go!"

Now Jungkook definitely heard that rough and loud voice of the other football team captain; Lee Felix. Tiny thing he is, but he has a fucking voice that would make anyone piss their pants by how low and aggressive it is.

He's only a sophomore, but showed some real promising skills and sportsmanship during his first year, so once the senior that was captain left, Felix took the crown.

A very reliable captain too.

He doesn't tolerate gossip, ever.

That's one way to really piss him off, and everyone knew better than to pull that around him.

That's why Jungkook tried not to grin as he takes off his headphones, hearing the scrambling of the freshmens behind him moving to the captain's demand. The only ones left here is a junior and two other seniors - who knew better than to pester Jungkook about these personal life issues. So they continued their conversations or do whatever they were doing, letting Jungkook change and get himself ready in peace.

It was peaceful, for a good moment or two. Jungkook can now hear the volleyball team make snarky remarks about Jimin and his now relationship with Jungkook from the other side of the lockers - taking advantage that the captain wasn't there to run their tongues.

This went on throughout the entire time that Jungkook was getting ready, and that's when he suddenly felt a presence beside him on the bench while he put on his cleats.

He recognizes that pumpkin spice scent from anywhere.

"Not trying to be that guy, and you know that I don't like getting into your personal business, but are you really not going to say anything while they trash talk your boyfriend like that?"

Jungkook finishes tying the laces, putting his foot down and spares a glance to the third captain of the team; Jung Hoseok. He's the only one closest to Jungkook in the team. In the beginning Hoseok wasn't actually as skilled as most people in the team, but his sportsmanship got him where he is now in being captain. He worked hard to be a great defender, working with Jungkook for long hours to gain skill but still keeping that energy on maintaining everyone motivated out there in the field.

He's a good friend, but they're nothing more than that outside this sport.

Just teammates.

As strange as it is.

So it wasn't a surprise for Jungkook to see him there, talking to him however he pleases, but he did grimace to his words, "I'm trying to stay focused."

"Are you and Jimin really dating?"

"Yes."

"Then advert that focus on speaking up for him," Hoseok snaps, clearly not entertained by still hearing those talks from the volleyball from the other side of the lockers, "You're still-"

"WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU ALL HERE NOT DOING SHIT? PRACTICE, LET'S GO! NOW!"

Both Jungkook and Hoseok abruptly startles to the sudden raspy and aggressive voice that boomed the entire locker room, far more powerful than Felix's heavy tone, silencing everyone here at once.

It was quiet, silent real good for a while, but then suddenly there's this repetitive squeaking of shoes and low mumbles rushing out to the exit, the sounds making both Jungkook and Hoseok get to their feet and peer to the corner of their section.

Standing outside the section of the volleyball locker room, right beside the football sets of lockers, is a very tense Jimin. His hands are balled to his sides, his duffle bag on the floor, still dressed in his casual wear but with a black cap over his mess of brown hair.

The one he took from Jungkook earlier because he didn't like how his hair looked today.

He's fiercely glaring into the walk in interior of the locker room, just as a player - that Jungkook doesn't recall familiar in his memory - approaches him.

A hesitant but curious smile plays on his youthful face while he looks at his captain, "So.... I-Is it true captain? You're dating-"

"What I do with my personal life is my business," Jimin steps closer to the shorter and trembling player, his eyes glowering down to him, "Now get out of my sight and go to PRACTICE!"

The boy practically scrambles back and away from his livid captain, tripping a few times in his feet before practically throwing himself out the door.

Jungkook lips parted to what he just witnessed, shocked.

He never thought he'd see Jimin ever like this, since he has just been very patient and nice throughout the whole day.

Or in general to say the least.

Especially if he's blue for the week.

This is definitely out of character.

He's must be really fired up-

"I don't need you to speak up for me," Jungkook's skin flooded with goosebumps upon hearing Jimin's sudden low voice, looking at him now while Jimin is just staring at the lockers but then snaps his gaze directly towards the footballer.

And he smiles, a very relaxed and soft smile, almost.... Eerie.

"I can do that just fine on my own."

With that being said, Jimin only walks into the area of the locker room to get ready, leaving both Jungkook and Hoseok stunned to where his ghost once stood.

There's this strong silence between them, processing and sinking in what was going on.

Jimin....

Jimin just...

Jungkook blinks, remains unmovable for a moment, until he slowly smirks.

A broad smirk.

Something awakened in him. A small spark clicked in the darkness, deep in the endless pits of the shadows in his soul. An excitement that threw him over the edge but he gripped onto it tightly now, feeling it cruise all over his body in this giddiness that he has ever felt before.

For once in Jungkook's life.... There's someone who doesn't rely on him.

Who doesn't need him to stick up for them.

That can take care of themselves perfectly fine on their own.

That has a voice.

Someone who doesn't need Jungkook's already demanding aura to be a shield, because they have their own shield.

A leader.

And for the first time, in Jungkook's entire existence, he was excited about someone.

What else does Jimin have in store under his sleeve?

"See Hobi, he doesn't need me," Jungkook murmurs lowly, eyes now sparkling and his smirk widening, "Now I'm intrigued."
