2: Meeting the Heartbreaker

Sweat.

Skin coated in sweat.

Glossing, sparkling, and gliding of sweat on every layer - with more just leaking through the sweat glands.

It's to no surprise that Jungkook sweats a fucking river whenever he works out, but today just so happens to be extremely excessive due to the intensity of it. It's a hot day, sun is being a fucking bitch, and running on a hard and intense day definitely works up those sweat glands to cry out for coldness for the body.

Jungkook doesn't mind it though. It feels like a motivation that he's actually working his body out hard, pushing him further past his limit to the point the ache on his legs and abdomen felt incredibly numb - just before the sore pain actually starts to hit later on.

He doesn't stop running.

Not yet at least.

That's until the whistle blew, and he felt like a puff of air huffed out of his lips forcefully as though he was suppressing it inside.

Signaling the end of practice.

Without losing his rhythm, Jungkook jogs to the coach after running around the field along with his other teammates. Despite being too tired to focus, Jungkook still kept his face firm to set an example for the team since he is - in fact - one of the team captains.

And not because of just his intimidating looks.

"Great job everyone. Next week is the start of classes and we have our first game on the following Friday. Tomorrow will be an easier day, going over the drills and ball passes. Jerseys will be exchanged on Wednesday and the Friday's game begins at 5 p.m but we will leave here at 4:30. We will discuss more about it next week, as for now rest up and eat well."

Everyone clapped it up to that and put their hands at the center, hollering in representation to the school's mascot. From there everyone either went directly home or trailed off to the locker room to change, to which that's exactly what Jungkook did.

Already inside was the Volleyball team -who finish practice around the same time they usually do - and a few people from the cross country team already leaving.

"Bro, coach is going to fucking kill us out there."

"My knees hurt so much!"

"I can't feel my arms man."

"I'm tired as fuck!"

"Hey Jimin, do you mind giving me some pointers?"

Jungkook's ear perked to the name just as he opens his locker, taking out another shirt and sweatpants to change into since he usually showers at home rather than risk showering here.

Who knows what happens in there, and unfortunately he knows too much.

"Um, I don't really know what to give you pointers on. I'm a libero, and I don't usually do spikes or blocks close to the net."

"Maybe on how to receive or tosses-"

"Why not ask Namjoon? He's also the captain and the Ace! Could help you with your position better since you're a wing spiker too."

"Yeah but-"

Jungkook slams the locker shut after he finished changing completely, shoving his cleats in his duffle bag while he exits out this section of the locker room and rounds the corner to the other section of lockers with arms crossed.

There he sees the familiar heartbreaker, freshly dressed already to leave while maintaining a polite smile on his face, facing the other man standing in front of him - who seemed like he was a little too persist to his captain.

How embarrassing.

Jimin rubs a hand on his arm, over his hoodie sleeve, shrugging with that smile a little more strained, "Sorry kid, best thing I could recommend is asking Namjoon. He's more experienced in the area than me-"

"But you're the team captain too, aren't you supposed to help me as well?"

Okay, Jungkook is done waiting.

"Jimin."

The two snaps their eyes back, falling their gaze to the footballer dressed in black with tatted arms crossed and a monotone expression settled on his features that are  highlighted by the twinkles from the piercings.

For a second Jimin seemed confused, but Jungkook only meets his eyes and nods aside, "Let's go, don't want to get home too late."

The two clearly seemed a bit surprised or taken back. Jimin appeared as though he was going to say something back, but when his teammate looks back to him, he immediately beams a smile and nod.

"Oh right! I'll see you later Yeonjun, make sure to ask Namjoon about those tips!" And Jimin quickly moves away from him and approaches Jungkook.

The ravenette eyed him with his emotionless eyes, not twitching an eye when Jimin smiles up at him. The two didn't say anything, but Jungkook moved aside to let Jimin pass by first. Jimin did quickly while Jungkook flickers his eyes back to Yeonjun.

And glares.

The boy jolts a bit and shivers on the spot, freezing in intimidation from the footballer's intense gaze. Jungkook only narrows his eyes and trails lazily behind Jimin and out of the locker room. He still followed him all the way until they exit out of the athletic center, meeting with the cool summer air and the sunsetting in the horizon; spreading a peachy colors to the sky.

After a while, Jimin obviously noticed that Jungkook was not leaving him alone - even if they're not around school premises anymore.

And a soft chuckle bubbles out of his lips, slowing his steps to walk along side the athlete, "I'm assuming you aren't really here to walk me home, knew it," He snickers sarcastically, "I don't recall your face from my past relationships, and you're not my teammate. What do you want?"

Jungkook shoves his hands in his pockets of his sweats, looking around their surroundings before only staring ahead, "Semester is coming up."

"Indeed it is."

"Found a toy to play with yet?"

This made Jimin giggle, quite a lot really, and Jungkook tried not to cringe to the noise.

He doesn't like hearing people giggle.

It sounds too fake.

"Well, those toys you refer to are people, and I don't play," Jimin corrects, keeping his tone amused, "What up? Interested?"

"Yes," Jungkook responds, bluntly, "I am."

"I see, well not a charming first impression I must say. I don't even know your name."

"Jungkook."

"Sounds familiar."

"Yeah well, when you go to the same high school and college as me, wouldn't expect anything less."

"Ah, makes sense."

Abruptly Jimin suddenly stands in front of Jungkook, making Jungkook instantly pause in front of him with those emotionless eyes. Jimin is twinkling a smile while studying Jungkook's soft yet edgy features with his hair tied away from his face, letting a few strands fall to caress his cheekbones to give a better glance of his face.

And Jimin steps closer, tilting his head to the side, "Why should I consider you? You don't seem to like me so much."

Jungkook looks at him, his lips fighting to not tug a scowl by that stupid grin on Jimin's face. He really tried to see what Yoongi sees in this man, he really did, but there's nothing about Jimin that attracts him.

He's smug.

Bold.

A little too observant for Jungkook's disliking.

He doesn't even find him that attractive for his taste, why do people go crazy over him?

Staring at him for a while to collect his thoughts, Jungkook then leans towards him while removing a hand from his pocket and uses his index finger to settle it under Jimin's chin and guide his face higher to meet the full blow of Jungkook's gaze.

That made his grin twitch down a bit.

That's more like it.

"You're right, I don't like you," Jungkook admits, making Jimin's eyes narrow, "Call me a little curious. I don't know what people see in you, but wouldn't hurt to experience it first hand."

"Hm, I don't really like rude people as my partners."

"Aw, you like softies? In that way it'll be easier to break their hearts and not have them call you out on your bullshit?"

"I'm not a science experiment for you to test out whether you'll be interested or not," Jimin now steps closer, too close for Jungkook's bubble, "Unfortunately for you, I already have someone to be with for the start of the semester."

Jungkook's patience is ticking.

His teeth grinds against each other, trying to think of something.

He has to play his game in order to get to him.

But how is he going to do that if Jungkook doesn't even know his game!

Taking in their fairly close proximity, he decided to approach this on a more intimate approach.

Even though he cringes to the thought of it.

Take advantage of their closeness, he leans to Jimin's face. So close to the point their lips are centimeters apart. Jimin's breath hitches, tense now, while Jungkook's finger under his chin is replaced by his hand now cradling the side of his face.

Jimin was not ready for that, and he did not move away from it.

He's curious, just slightly.

Jungkook can see that immediately.

"Well, you've never been with someone like me," Jungkook whispers, sending a shiver down Jimin's spine, "Are you sure you don't want to try it?"

"Next semester-"

"That's not an option," Now Jungkook just barely pulls back, meeting Jimin's icy eyes, "You're right, I may not like you. Doesn't mean that can't change, but that depends on you."

"It's hard for me to catch feelings."

"Well won't you look at that, guess we both are a challenge," Jungkook ventures, officially stepping back and away from him, "If you want to be with someone who's already desperate for you, go ahead. I don't chase after anyone."

Jimin now makeshifts a small smile, so suddenly that caught Jungkook off guard the abrupt shift in emotions, "Oh really? That's why you followed me right?"

"Because I wanted to ask you to be my boyfriend," Jungkook says, once again, bluntly, "But if you're taken, have fun with that."

There's a second where Jimin remains standing there, eyebrows furrowed, clearly not keeping up, "You're confusing..... You don't like me but want to be my boyfriend."

"The experience, never heard of it? I'm curious."

"Oh I have, but when I'm in a relationship I like it when the other person is at least interested in me."

"I am interested, in my own way."

"Is it for sex?"

"God no."

"To get back at someone?"

"Nope."

"Mind as well be friends with benefits if that's the case then."

"I want to experience growing interested in someone slowly, and being in a relationship, since I just don't know how to.... Do that," Jungkook is literally running out of excuses by this point, "I want to know what type of person I like for my taste, and since I've heard you had this tendency in switching yourself up while in a relationship, I want to figure that out.... With you."

Did that even make any sense?

Jungkook is so shit with words that it's so unbearable.

Yet surprisingly enough, this seems to be convincing to Jimin now.

The gears are clearly turning in his head and Jungkook can visibly see Jimin making sense of the situation; Someone wanting to learn how to love and be loved while discovering his own interests. That's a whole lot of trusts to put into someone like Jimin, who's not even going to stick around by the end of the semester.

It made him feel a little honored.

Even though Jungkook was lying through his teeth.

He knows the type of person he likes, how it's like being interested in someone so badly, and being in a relationship. But he knows by saying this would further more explain his attitude and his interest in Jimin specifically.

And to his advantage, it worked.

Jimin slowly smirks and shrugs, turning around, "In that case, follow me."

Got him.
