Victories and Robot Godzillas
Hey guys, sorry for not updating in a while. My computer broke when I got home from vacation (P.S.: I'm back from Maine, YAY!) and I only recently got my phone to work again, so updates will be made from my phone, meaning they'll be slow and probably be filled with grammar errors. At least until I fix my computer.
But who am I to spoil your reading?
Hope you like this new chapter.

"We must make haste," Rax says. "We know a shortcut through the tunnels."
All of us run to the exit, Shiro stays behind for a second.
"Allura, stand by," Shiro says. "We're on our way up."
"Paladins, hurry!" Allura says through the coms. "They're taking off with the lions!"
We all separate and run to our lions. The Galra are barely taking off with Vi when I come in.
"Don't touch my lion!" I yell as I fly right through the force field. I take off with Vi and bite off the Galra ships. "That's what you get."
"Guys," I hear Shiro say. "Did everyone make it to their lion in time?"
"Uh-huh," I say, flying out of the hole and fly to the others, who have regrouped.
"Come on Shiro," Lance says. "Who do you think you're dealing with, a bunch of amateurs?"
We fly away from a big spike jutting out of the Balmera and I watch in amusement as Lance crashes into it.
"Do you really want me to answer that?" Shiro replies. I can almost hear him smile.
"No."
"Let's go!"
We speed off to the Galra fighter ships and start shooting them, me with my beam of light, Lance with his beam of ice, and Keith with his beam of fire. But my favorite thing to do is to pounce on the fighters and to rip their wings off with my lion's jaws.
"Paladins, I need you immediately!" Allura yells in the coms. "Five more ticks and we're finished!"
I frown. "Reminder time," I say. "A tick is a second, right?"
"Yes," Keith replies.
"'Kay, thanks Keith," I say with my trademark crooked grin.
"Okay, team," Shiro says. "Let's form Voltron!"
"Yeah!" we all yell.
I feel the adrenaline rushing through me as we form our super-mega-robot of death. We burst through the olive yellow clouds and fly towards the Castle and the Galra cruiser. We grab the cruiser and lift it up, all yelling from the strain. It's a team effort. It takes all of us to lift the cruiser enough so that the ion cannon isn't hitting the particle barrier. We fly out of the way as the Castle hits the cruiser with its super beam and destroys it in an explosion.
"Whoo, explosion!" I exclaim, throwing my arms up in the air.
"Yeah!" Hunk and Keith yell at the same time.
"Nice shot, Princess," Pidge compliments.
I can hear Lance cheering. "Yeah! The parade's back on!"
I groan, seriously wanting to hit Lance with something heavy. From Keith's groan, I can tell that so does he. I call him on my lion, and his face appears. He looks annoyed.
"Come on," I say. "Loosen up! Don't be all-" I cross my arms and exaggerate a pout.
"I am not like that!" Keith exclaims.
I laugh. "Sure, Boots."
He stiffens at the nickname. "I thought I told you not to call me that."
I smirk. "I have other nicknames if you prefer."
Keith sighs and disappears from my holographic dashboard.
We land back on Balmera, the Castle floating right above us.
"Mission accomplished," Keith says, and I can hear the relief in his voice.
I'm relieved too. This is our first big rescue mission, and I didn't mess it up. I am so proud of my clumsy self for that.
"And just in the tick of time," Allura adds. "The Castle's defenses are battered and will need to fully recharge."
I hear Allura gasp and I groan loudly.
"No!" I yell. "Really? Man, these guys just don't know when to stop!"
I don't even know what's going on, but I'm sure it's Zarkon related. 100% sure. Well, try 99.99%. I look up and see a huge meteor-- I am betting all of the Jammie Dodgers in my messenger bag that it's not a meteor-- descending on the Balmera. It crashes not too far from us, sending a huge explosion followed by a tidal wave of dust. Man, this planet seriously needs some good vacuuming.
"What the heck is that?" Lance asks.
"Trouble," Shiro replies.
I stare at it. It's big, and it's Galra. I silently curse Zarkon and his little followers. They're even worse than Rhea on April Fool's Day. And that's really not a good thing. I take a breath to calm the wave of anger. Now's not the time to fantasize about ripping off the head of some evil emperor I've never met. Man, I wish he'd just get turned into a llama and learn some humility. And humanity.
"Oh, no!" Pidge says.
"Please tell me there's not a giant monster in there," Hunk says. "Please tell me it's empty! Or full of space candy. One of those two. Either one is fine."
"I don't think it's a piñata, Hunk," Lance says.
"If it's the same kind of monster that attacked us on Arus, we already know how to beat it," Keith says.
I furrow my eyebrows. I think that we all know that this monster'll be much worse than the one we faced on Arus. Nevertheless, Keith activates his sword while Pidge activates the shield.
"Hold your ground!" Shiro says.
"Always look on the bright side of life," I sing the lyrics of the Monty Python song under my breath.
The thing splits open and sprays more dust everywhere and my voice falters. When it clears, my eyes grow wide and my mouth hangs open and dread settles in my stomach.
"Oh my gods," I say in a hushed voice. So much for looking on the bright of life.
It's huge and red and white, and looks like a hybrid mix of a lizard and an octopus and a robot. It lifts its head and it's eyes move to the front and glow green, a sign that probably means it's awake. We're screwed. Completely and utterly screwed.
A green laser of light erupts from its chest and hits our shield, pushing us back.
"It's not candy!" Hunk screams.
"And it's not the same monster!" Lance says.
We jump out of the laser.
"We need to draw its fire away from the Balmera's surface!" Shiro calls.
We fly towards the mechanical Godzilla, but it jumps up and hits us again. The wind is knocked out of my lungs and I groan. We fly out of the laser, and fly around while the monster chases us with the laser.
"This is the worst game of laser tag ever!" I yell.
We swing our sword at Godzilla Jr., but it ducks out of the way and hits us with its eye laser. We fly out and manage to get in a defensive position when our shield gets hit by the chest laser again. I feel so useless. I mean, the others control limbs and Shiro's the head. What do I get? The chest. And I don't do anything. It's frustrating. We all groan from the strain.
"We can't hold out!" Lance calls.
"My lion is weakening!" Pidge yells. "If the shield sustains structural damage, we're done for!"
"Pidge is right!" Keith yells.
I look around for anything to do. I need to help out.
"Oh, Pidge is right. I'm the one that said 'we can't hold out!'" Lance complains.
Something appears in front of me. It's roughly shaped like my bayard.
"Lance, watch your footing!" Keith warns.
We trip and fall, our shield disbanding, an hit the ground and I groan. I open my eyes and see the bayard shaped thing retracting back. I frown.
"Okay, Team Voltron, disband!" Shiro says. We do so. "Everyone, evasive maneuvers! It can't shoot us all at once!"
We all fly in different directions and I see the monster spreading its tentacle arms, and its suckers start shooting lasers.
"Apparently, it can!" I yell as I try to evade the lasers.
"Okay, it can do that too!" Shiro yells.
Just then, the Castle appears out of the clouds and shoots Godzilla, who then shot the Castle.
"Keith, Nova, try to draw its fire!" Shiro calls. "I'm coming in from above."
"Roger!" Keith says.
"Gotcha," I say.
We both fly towards Godzilla and Keith shoots it with his fire beam, and me with its light beam. It turns towards us and shoots us with its tentacle lasers. We evade as Shiro prepares to fire. But Godzilla rotates its eye and shoots at Shiro, who pulls up in the nick of time. Keith and I both fly away.
