4th of July Special

Okay, so I'm not American, but I live in America, so I do celebrate the 4th of July, and a French celebration called Bastille Day, which is 10 days after. It's basically the French 4th of July. Except we celebrate taking a prison. *shrugs*.

 Anyways, the 4th of July is fun. There are fireworks, parties, red, blue and white everywhere, and cake and barbecue. That's how we do it with our friends anyways.

So I thought that maybe Team Voltron would celebrate 4th of July 2018, in space, with aliens, and fun. So here we go. Enjoy! (Also, the video above is just a lot of fun to watch and I love Anthem Lights, and I feel that the 4th of July is a time of fun, so there we are).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I knock on Pidge's door. She opens it, and I see that she is grinning wickedly and there's a mischievous glint in her eyes.
"You ready for this?" I whisper.
"You betcha," Pidge replies. "Let's do this."
"Mission 4th of July/Bastille Day is a go."
We run down the hall towards the lounge. Once there, I lift the seat cushion on one of the couches. Pidge and I had learned recently that the couches are empty underneath. So that's where we stuffed all of our 4th of July decorations. We pull out streamers and confetti and balloons, all made with red, white and blue. We even made some banners with paint and glitter.
It's been a few days since our last battle with the Galra. The Castle was hit pretty badly and we had to stop at the nearest planet, which was thankfully not yet conquered by the Galra. It's planet Ourbos, and though the Ourbosians have party equipment resembling human party equipment, the people do not look anything like humans. And I mean that in the nicest way possible. All of them have four arms, and three eyes. Their skin is blue, their hair is every color imaginable, and changes according to their mood, and they all have blue eyes, but each with subtle variations. They're about the same size as us, but that's it for the similarities. They also all have dog-like tails and antlers.
But the best thing about them is that they love to party.
Pidge and I gather up as many things as we can and, with devious grins on our faces, go in every room of the Castle to hang up streamers and balloons and banners. We leave the confetti there  for now. We have very special plans for that.
It's now midnight. It takes us around three hours to hang up all of the streamers and balloons and banners in all of the rooms in the Castle. It's a big Castle, but we have large supplies.
Pidge and I do this every year. It's my family's tradition, which Pidge adopted. We prank everyone for the whole day and then celebrate for the whole night. And just because we're in space, doesn't mean we have to let family traditions die.
Pidge and I take time with the confetti. We install it in the control room, making it so when someone activates the controls, confetti will spray everywhere. Then we get on with the other pranks. I go into each paladins' room and I place balloons, on which I've drawn smiley faces. My favorite thing to do is make the eyes very detailed, and then just draw a line for the mouth. To spice it up, I decided to inverse it. Make the eyes dots and make very detailed lips. Oh, and don't forget the cameras the Pidge made from scratch to record each paladin's reaction. Even Allura and Alien Weasley can't escape our evil pranks.
While I'm doing the Smiley Prank, Pidge is cooking breakfast. That's good because she has no idea how to cook. I really hope she makes spicy breakfast and salty coffee. That's the best.
Then, we both pair up to make the best prank. Leaving small plastic camels all over the Castle. Well, shouldn't that baffle everyone. We tried to move the furniture, but being a flying ship, everything is screwed into the ground.
Then, last but certainly not least, we take plastic cups, and set them up in the hallway where our rooms are located. Dozens upon dozens of cups lining up the hallway. Oh, they're going to be so mad.
A thought occurs to me. "Hey, Pidge," I say.
"Yeah?"
"You know how Hunk is a very heavy sleeper and won't be awaken by anything?"
"Yeah?"
"Could we cover him with sticky notes? I mean, he won't wake up, so it's doable."
"Secretly, you and I are related. You know what they say, 'great minds prank alike'."
We burst in laughter as we make our way to Hunk's room.
We're almost done sticky-noting him when Pidge goes to the door.
"where are you going?" I ask in a hushed whisper.
"To turn all of Lance's clothes pink. We still have a few hours. Better make the most of it, am I right?"
I grin wickedly. "After that, I'll draw a mustache on Keith and you'll draw whiskers on Shiro," I say.
"Done."
I gasp dramatically. "Release an owl in Alien Weasley's room while you program a hologram of Hagrid that'll say, 'yer a wizard, Harry'. I'll get the owl."
Pidge frowned. "Should we prank Allura, too?"
We glance at each other. "Definitely not," we say at the same time.
I get the feeling that I'm going to enjoy this year's 4th of July.
***
This is it. The moment we're waiting for. Pidge and I are in the the lounge, Pidge in front of her computer and me looking over her shoulder. She's looking into the camera that she'd set up in Alien Weasley's room. He wakes up, and she activates the hologram. Alien Weasley screams really high pitched and we burst out laughing. The owl that I caught flutters down, flying around Alien Weasley's head and leaving feathers everywhere.
Alien Weasley runs out of his room and shuts the door behind him, and Pidge cuts the feed. Then, we hear a terrified shriek coming from the hall where we sleep. We burst out laughing, and only laugh harder when three others join in, and I fall off the couch when I hear the sound of cups falling and people cursing.
The paladins walk in the lounge, all with varying expressions on their faces. Hunk looks jumpy, and is covered with pink, blue, yellow, orange and green sticky notes. Keith is holding a balloon with very detailed eyes and a line for the mouth, his face looking mad, but the mustache makes him look ridiculous. I laugh harder. I made the faces on Keith's balloon the creepiest, and I can't wait to see the results on the camera. Shiro looks annoyed, with his little whiskers, and gives me and Pidge a why? look. Lance is in pink pajamas and does not look amused.
They all start complaining at us, or yelling, when they are cut off by a surprised yell.
Allura storms in the lounge, her loose hair covered in confetti, just like her dress. Pidge and I howl with laughter, and it doesn't take long for her to figure out who did it.
"Why would you do this?" Shiro asks, looking both disappointed and betrayed.
I try to stop laughing. "It's our annual 4th of July Prank-a-Thon," I say. "It's a family tradition."
Hunk sighs, pulling a sticky note out of his hair. "Well, I'm going to got set up the breakfast table," he says. "I'm hungry when I get scared."
He walks off.
"Come on, guys," I say. "It's a day to relax. It's the 4th of July!"
"You call leaving balloons with creepy faces relaxing?" Keith asks.
"And turning people's clothes pink!" Lance yells indignant.
"Throwing confetti on people does not relax them," Allura adds.
We glance at each other and Shiro sighs. "What did you do?" he asks.
"Well, Space Dad," I start. I have nicknames for literally everyone. "We may or may not have made a hologram of Hagrid in Alien Weasley's room and released an owl."
"You what?" four voices ask.
"Oh, and Shiro, Keith—" Pidge points to her face. "You might want to check out a mirror."
"Guys, breakfast's ready," Hunk says, cutting off whatever Keith and Shiro were about to say.
Hunk still has a few sticky notes in his hair and on his back, but Pidge and I just laugh quietly. Our genius clearly isn't accepted here.
We sit at the table and, while the others reach for plates of goo and coffee, me and Pidge talk quietly.
"What did you put in there?" I ask.
She shrugs. "Honestly, I have no idea. I just hope that it's spicy or salty."
Just then, everyone, albeit us two, spits out their coffee, or cough because of the goo.
"Hot! Hot!" Lance croaks, fanning his face. He reaches for his cup for coffee and drinks it all before spitting out. "Salty!"
Pidge and I are howling in laughter as the others glare at us.
"Are you two done?" Shiro asks, not looking very amused.
"Hey," I say, putting my hands up. "The tradition states that you have to decorate the house, and then prank everyone for the whole day, and then party all night."
"Wait, wait, wait," Keith says. "Party? What party?"
Pidge rolls her eyes. "The party with the Ourbosian village that we organized of course," she says.
Everyone groans.
"I feel the need to point out that we should feel lucky that the 4th of July only happens once a year," Lance says.
Everyone nods when Allura walks in, holding a plastic camel.
"I found this in the cupboard in the kitchen," she says.
Pidge and I once again howl woth laughter, and I bang my hand on the table. Yeah, this is going to be one of the greatest 4th of July ever.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Well there you have it folks. April Fool's Day and the 4th of July mashed into one glorious day of pranking the team. I hope you all have a great 4th of July, and great fun with your family and friends. And I hope that you guys liked the video.

*drops mic* Peace out.

P.S.: yes, I do realize that it's only 11:30 on July 3rd, but I'm very tired and sleep deprived, so I just don't know anymore.

P.P.S.: I'm sorry for the slow updates. I'm too busy watching Dan and Phil lately, and it's been occupying my time. I'll get back to writing fanfics soon, though. Don't worry(:
