The voice in my head was getting too hard to bare. It was so annoying, the same computer generated tone each time. I let out a fake staggered breath, my mechanical jaw opening and closing on rusting hinges.

The blue glass eyes inside my metal skull were hidden behind a thin layer of fake skin.
Fake. All of it was fake. All of me was fake.
Lance McClain is fake, because he isn't a real person. Lance McClain isn't human. I knew these facts ever since I was programmed. Yet I still couldn't accept the fact.
-Scanning for materials.-
A beep sounded in my ears, a bright blue light met my now open eyes. Everything was dark and shadowy, I was trying desperately to remember where I was.
"Ray, scan memory card." I said, my voice was loosing its human flavour. I awaited a response, watching the sparks fly off my limbs and sizzle against my blubber of skin that was exposed to the cold air.
-Affirmative. Scanning memory card.-
I attempted to sit up from the slouched position I laid in, the paladin armour clinking against my own exposed exoskeleton. More sparking and sizzling ensued, I was finally able to sit up, glancing around the room. It looked to be a cave, but who knows what it could be.
-Memory card enabled.-
-Few Most recent?-
The voice responded to my request. "Proceed."
A loud whizzing went off in my head like a child's spinning top, which would be annoying if I wasn't already used to it. I reached to my arm and turned on my flashlight, turning off the scanner emitting from my eyes.
Rocks upon rocks sat all around me, dust covering every surface.

"EVERYONE STAY TOGETHER!!" I heard Shiro shout, slashing and slicing through every sentry coming his way. Him and Keith were still perfectly together, their backs facing one another. Pidge and hunk had been able to stick together as the sentries attempted to separate us, they both could hold their own in combat. When I looked to my left I saw Allura, wrangling herself through all of the soldiers to our leader and the former black paladin.
And then there was me. I was being surrounded by the second. All of the noises and hits were sending my system into overdrive, the cameras in my eyes were glitching and static clogged at the screen. Of course, of all the planets we could have been ambushed on, it was the planet with the cold. The planet with wind and blizzards, one that could easily malfunction my body. The butt of my gun hit the soldier in front of me, sparks flew off its head at the impact.
Step by step I backed up, shooting guard after guard only for more to come and refill their spots. I was running out of steam, every step I took backwards, the heavy wind blared into my face.
One step I took I felt a crackle, my foot started to plunge down into a dark hole behind me. My voice box was clogged from all the cold air, I could barely let out a scream. My body smashed against the ground and everything went black.

-End of memory sequence. Replay?-
"Cancel."
So that's what happened. I fell down a cliff.
I wonder if the others are ok. They're probably looking for me, what a surprise they'll get when they find me in this state. I would be surprised to if my resident sharpshooter turned out to be a robot, who couldn't even process heavy duty programming. I was worthless to the team now. God knows that the ship doesn't have enough supplies to fix all my limbs and parts, that is if they even let me on the ship.
I'm dangerous, I knew that much. From the minute my programming booted up for the first time. I knew. I was created for destruction, but I ended up not even being able to fulfill my only purpose. I had many nicknames.
The malfunction.
The screwup.
The sentient.
Project failure.

My limbs were getting stiff, my flashlight was long gone by now. The wires in my eyes were tired, closing themselves. I slumped back down onto the rock behind me, sliding down to the dusty floor of the canyon.
-System failure.-
-Shutting down.-
