Hihi! I liked the idea of one of Lances siblings flying off into space to find him and I like writing fluffy stuff sooooo here we are. It's short though heh sorry.
WARNING: I cried while writing this.
Enjoy!
-----------
The girl hunkered farther into the corner of the makeshift bomb shelter and glared daggers at the door. Explosions and screams sounded from outside. She hated them. She hated being stuck in the bomb shelter, she hated the fighting, she hated the war, she hated Zarkon, she hated how she was out in space when she had NEVER WANTED TO BE. Her brother had been the one always dreaming about going to space. She had been the artist, the dreamer, the one with wishes that couldn't be fulfilled because their family was too poor. Art school was super expensive. The only reason her brother had made it into the space exploration program had been on a full scholarship.
She had not been so lucky. No one had given her a scholarship, or even a bursary towards art school. Her brother had been packed and leaving for his dream while she had been stuck in their small town on the coast, desperately working two jobs trying to get enough money to support her family and try to afford art school one day.
She had never done it, of course. Her brother had disappeared and she had flown into a rage. She had quit her jobs, left all her savings behind on her bed, packed a small backpack and ran off. She had broken into the Garrison, begged a family friend to let her try out a fighter jet and had taken off. Her face was all over the news, people were saying that a little girl had stolen a jet from the Garrison and flown off. That was true, of course, but she had never meant to become a wanted person.
Oh well, her current mission of surviving the fight outside was more important. She switched her focus back to the sounds outside.
----------
The massive sounds and explosions ceased and the girl stood from her crouched position. Hand on the katana at her hip, she walked up to the door and unlocked the padlock. The door swung open slowly on its hinges and the girl stepped just over the threshold, stretching her arms up. She took a deep breath in and sighed happily. Peace and quiet.
Then a body crashed to the ground in front of her.
She screamed and jumped backward, toppling over herself in her escape. She landed with a thud on her butt just inside the door.
With a yelp, she jumped to her feet "Are you okay?"
The body shifted a little and groaned.
"Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god." She darted forward and grabbed the person by the shoulders, shaking them "Give me an answer! Are you okay?"
A voice that was vaguely familiar came from the body's mouth "I'm alive." Then whoever it was passed out, body turning to dead weight in the girl's arms.
She yelped again and dragged them inside, cursing the whole time. She flicked the switch on the side of the door and a small light illuminated in the middle of the room, revealing a table off to one side, a couch opposite the table, a small kitchen near the door and a medical bed opposite the door. The girl dragged the person to the medical bed. Then, with a grunt and a heave and a shouted curse, the person was on the table.
The girl pulled off her helmet, long dark brown hair falling down to around her waist. She rubbed her freezing hands on her chocolate brown face and rubbed her bright blue eyes. Then she ripped off her gloves, whined at the cold that struck her fingers, and opened a medical cabinet. The guy was bleeding from a wound at his waist. As far as the girl could tell, it wasn't fatal but it probably hurt a lot.
She snapped on a pair of surgical gloves and cut away the fabric of the person's armour. Blood seeped from the wound and the girl had to turn away for a second and gag.
The wound was relatively disgusting. A huge hunk of glass was sticking out of the guys gut, the fabric and skin around it were torn and covered in blood, some of the blood had dried slightly and was falling away in crusty flakes to reveal purple bruised skin.
The girl groaned in complaint "Do I really have to yank out the glass? Couldn't it have been, I don't know, a knife or a bullet or something?"
The body didn't respond.
In a panic, the girl pressed her fingers to the body's throat, searching for a pulse. She didn't really want to help a dead body.
A small thump thump thump was present in the guys neck.
The girl breathed a sigh of relief. And then she whined "Yep, I have to help you. You're alive. Damn you." She didn't really mean it.
Her eyes fell to the hunk of ragged glass. She sighed and said "This is going to hurt."
Then she grabbed the thing and yanked it out with all her might.
An unconscious scream tore the body's threat as the glass slid from it and the girl fell to the floor. The glass landed in her lap. With a shriek, she leaped up to her feet. The glass was tinged red at the bottom.
She turned back to the body and prepared a thread and needle. Trying not to gag, she sewed up the wound. When she came to the end, she tied off the string and cut it.
Then she turned and gagged again "I'm not a surgeon and I never wanted to be and I never will be." She shivered.
She grabbed some bandages from the cupboard and wrapped the guys waist tightly. A little bit of blood started seeping through. The girl pressed her hands to the bandages right over top of the wound and pushed downward. She pushed and pushed, gently of course, until the blood stopped seeping through. When it stopped, she unwrapped the bloodied bandages and rewrapped the guy in new clean ones.
Then she went to the kitchen and threw up into the sink.
With a glare in the body's direction, she wiped her mouth with the back of her hands and removed her surgical gloves "When you wake up, we are going to have a talk about not getting hunks of glass stuck in our guts, got it?"
The body didn't respond.

Shouts outside the little shelter woke the girl up and she flailed for a second. Then she stood, drew her gun that she didn't really know how to use, pulled out her katana that she did really know how to use and stood by the door. She put her helmet back on and readied herself.
Someone began slamming against the door repeatedly. They were ramming something heavy into the door. The girl sighed and walked up to the door. She holstered her gun and twisted the nob.
She pushed it open and said "It opens outward, idiots-" then she was tackled backward.
She screamed and landed heavily on her back. There was a person on top of her wearing white armour with red and black accents. The person had longish black hair, bright purple eyes and pale skin that was a stark contrast to the dark hair.
The girl yelled defiantly and kneed him in the stomach. Yes it was a him. He toppled off of her and she scrambled to her feet, raising her katana.
She spoke, sounding much braver than she felt "Who are you people?"
At the same time three other people entered the small room, each one wearing the same armour as the other guy but with green, yellow and black accents instead. The larger one in yellow hefted a large cannon that wouldn't be any good in close quarters, the little green one carried a little arrow shaped thing that sparked with electricity that would do rather well in close quarters and the one in blacks metal arm lit up. The arm would do exceptionally well in close quarters. The red one had a double edged sword.
The black one said "We are the Paladins of Voltron."
The girl waited for more. When more wasn't offered, she shifted her weight and said "What, that's it? Is that supposed to ring a bell or something?"
The yellow one said "Well, yeah. We are kind of the defenders of the universe."
"Never heard of you guys, sorry." The girl said.
The red one sneered at her "Where is Lance?"
The girl scoffed "Who is that? If you're talking about the injured guys behind me, then I wouldn't know, he never told me his name- wait. Did you say Lance?" By the last word, she had lowered her katana and her eyes had widened to the size of baseballs.
The green one raised their green weapon and said "Yes, Lance. He's our friend, a Paladin of Voltron and we need him back."
The girl shook her earlier thought off and shrugged "We must not be thinking of the same Lance then. Now, are we fighting or what?" She sounded much more confident that she felt.
The red one growled and charged her, sword raised. The girl met his strike with her katana and shoved him backward as hard as she could. He stumbled right as the green one darted forward and swung their green thing. The girl dodged and kicked them in the stomach. The yellow one hefted his cannon but couldn't really do anything. The black one charged forward with his arm raised. The girl swung her katana at him.
He caught the blade and wrenched it away from her.
She gaped for a second before the red one leaped at her, effortlessly taking her to the floor. She landed on her back and he kneeled on either side of her stomach. He reached forward to her helmet and wrenched it off.
Her eyes glowed with blue fire and she pulled off his helmet and punched him in the nose. He was sent backward and she scrambled quickly to her feet.
She raised her fists and said "Well, didn't exactly expect you all to take me up on that offer." She spat at them.
The group paused.
Then the yellow one said "Wait, Lily? What are you doing out here?"
She turned on him "Huh? How do you know my name?"
He pulled off his helmet to reveal a face that she knew well. Hunk looked at her questioningly "How the heck are you in space?"
"How are you alive?!?" She yelped "The Garrison said that you all went into space and your ship exploded. No bodies were retrieved. I mean, I didn't believe them, but I was starting to."
The green one wrinkled their nose "That's how they said we disappeared? That's awful." They pulled off their helmet and said "Hi Lily."
The girl coughed "Pidge? How the- What the-"
The red one pulled off his helmet. Lily recognized his face and demanded "Keith?"
The black one pulled off his helmet and Lily choked "Shiro?!? You're alive? Oh my god." She clutched her head and muttered "My brain is going to explode."
Hunk patted her on the shoulder and said "Can we have Lance back now?"
She looked up "Lance who?"
Hunk pointed "The one on the bed behind you."
She whipped her head around and stalked over to the guy she had saved. Her fingers shook as she lifted the cracked helmet off his head. It revealed short dark brown hair, chocolate brown skin, closed bright blue eyes. Features that matched her own.
She sucked in a breath and looked back at Hunk "Is that- Is he-"
Hunk smiled and said "Yes that's Lance."
"My Lance?" She choked.
Hunk smiled more and said "Yes, Lily, that's your twin."
Lily sobbed and flung her arms around her unconscious brother. She cried into his shoulder, tears running down her face. Sobs wracked her body as she held onto her best friend like she'd never see him again.
Lance groaned beneath her. She drew herself back and watched as he sat up. Her eyes were wide, her face was tear streaked and her hands were clenched at her heart.
Lance rubbed his eyes before opening them and seeing the Paladins "Oh, hey guys. What's up?"Hunk waved his hand sideways towards Lily.
Lance turned a little.
His face crumbled from its usual flirty smirk to an expression that was so vulnerable, it made him look five years old. He reached a hand out to her and he whispered with a shaky voice "Lily? Is that really you?"
She nodded shakily.
He tackled her in a hug, sending them both to the floor.
Lily wrapped her arms around him and clung to him. A few tears escaped Lance's eyes.
Slowly, the two let go of each other and kneeled in front of each other.
Then, Lance began to sob.
Not a sniffle, not a fake cry. Real gut wrenching sobs. Tears streamed down his face as he squeezed his eyes shut and sat in front of a piece of the family he thought he had lost. She leaned forward and hugged him. He buried his face in her neck and sobbed harder.
"I thought I'd never see any of you again." He sobbed "I missed you so much. Oh my god, Lily, you have no idea."
She laughed tearfully into his shoulder "You idiot. You bloody idiot. You made me come into space. You made me come into space, a place I never wanted to be. I never stopped searching. Never." She squeezed him harder.
He started whispering "I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry." Over and over and over again. Everytime he said it, he squeezed her tighter and sobbed harder.
"Stop." She commanded "Stop apologizing."
Finally the twins pulled away.
