Team Voltron vs PTSD

Shiro (the real one) has a classic presentation of PTSD. He purposefully evades any area that looks even the slightest bit like an arena and has terrible panic attacks. He's lucky to get three hours of sleep and he's learned how to function on even less from his time as The Champion. On nights when his nightmares are especially bad, the black lion will relay this information to one of the other lions and the lion will urge their paladin to help Shiro. The lions usually take turns. For example, Black will tell Red, who will wake Keith up and tell him to help Shiro. Usually the paladin that goes to Shiro will act like they themselves have had a nightmare and need comfort so Shiro doesn't feel embarrassed and so he won't refuse their help.

Keith has bipolar- triggered PTSD. He gets so angry that he will fight the training robots hours on end until he literally collapses, usually in a bloody and sweaty mess. He has been often observed ignoring wounds in favor of winning the fight and has on more then one occasion needed a healing pod to recover. He also has nightmares and troubled sleep, but he usually averages five to six hours of rest.

Lance has depressive PTSD. He didn't have the greatest school life and the stress of battle has worsened his previous insecurities. Coran checks in on him regularly and removes any small and sharp objects from Lance's room in fear of him hurting himself. Lance has gotten better, and has resorted to self- care instead of self- hate to calm himself down. He still needs constant attention and reassurance, but the team is happy to help with that. He has reported hearing angry voices of his past telling him terrible things and has gone to see an empath alien species for counseling. He's trying to get the others to go with him.

Hunk has severe anxiety attacks and will overeat if left alone to his fears. He has had eating disorders before and they sometimes creep back into his life. He uses baking as an outlet and is thrilled to have people who will help him eat all the food. He also goes to seek counseling with Lance on the empath planet and uses the tips he's learned to help the rest of the team cope.

(This is the most complex one oops) Pidge, like all the other paladins and allies, has PTSD. Everyone responds to their stress differently, and Pidge is no exception. She will lock herself in her room for long enough that her nutrition levels start to change (this isn't helped by the fact that she doesn't really eat and space goo doesn't have everything a human needs to survive). She will end up with nutritional and PTSD- triggered mixed delirium. These times are extremely worrying for the rest of Team Voltron because Pidge can go from bouncing off the walls in an inventive flurry to a lump on the floor that won't move and stares at nothing like it's going to hurt her. She claims to have no knowledge of these problems and refuses to accept medical evaluations of her condition. If someone offers to help her with her PTSD during her delirium, she has been known to attack. Ever since she found Matt and her dad she's been getting better, but she still relies on the hyperactive bouts of her delirium to help her solve problems.

Allura doesn't have so much PTSD as she does just plain old stress. She also regrets being unable to help her father fight and wishes she could save her people.

Coran, oh such a sweet man. He had a wife and son back on Altea. To cope with his loss, he treats the paladins like his own children, though Lance reminds him most of his son. Coran wishes beyond everything that he could've brought his family into a cryopod with him, but they had died before he'd been given the chance. Sometimes he has nightmares of his family dying in horrific ways and will make his rounds through the castle again to make sure everyone is alright. He is the only person on Team Voltron that can get through to Shiro that it's okay to be weak and has bonded with the man quite well.

I'm sorry I've been MIA! I'm back— and with a superchapter this time!
