Chapter 4: Another New Friend

Here's the next chapter, thanks to everyone who enjoyed so far.

Smoke rose high into the sky above as a pink fire continued to burn below.

If one listened closely a scream could be heard, a scream of absolute unrestrained fury.

This scream belonged to the usually upbeat and positive star warrior known as Kirby.

Right now though, the only emotion she felt was pure rage and she was unleashing it on the unfortunate Snatchwing.

Kirby in her Dragon Fire form ignited her foot and delivered a blazing kick directly to the unfortunate creatures chest.

The Snatchwing learned the hard way that Kirby was stronger than she appeared as it flew back and crashed into the ground creating a small tremor.

As the enormous creature fell down, a pair of pink flaming dragon wings sprouted from Kirby's back and she flew high into the air.

The Snatchwing looked up and saw the enraged Star Warrior glaring down at it.

Her glare was filled with rage and pain as tears streamed down her face before evaporating due to the intense heat of the forest fire as well as her wings.

The Draconic Star Warrior inhaled deeply before unleashing a torrent of pink hot flames down upon the unfortunate victim.

The Snatchwing managed to avoid the stream of fire, however the flames upon hitting the ground created a shockwave that blew it back.

The victim's back hit a burning tree making it screech in pain.

The screech was forcibly silenced by Kirby who flew down directly into it's belly creating a small shockwave.

This in turn caused the remaining bulbs on it's front area to explode creating a cloud of black smoke.

Both Bandana Dee and Elfilin cringed upon the impact as they stood back and watched the massacre.

"I've never seen Kirby this angry before." Elfilin said shocked. "It's...scary."

Bandana Dee nodded.

"I know...I've seen Kirby angry before...but never like this." Bandana Dee said a little unnerved.

Honestly though, Bandana Dee understood why she was so pissed.

Throughout all her adventures with the Star Warrior, Kirby had never witnessed a friend of hers actually die.

Kirby was no stranger to death, in fact she has killed as well, usually being Foes that put entire universes at risk, but never had she witnessed the death of one of her friends before.

Also given how Kirby acted around you, Bandana Dee could tell she really cared about you despite having not known you long.

And seeing Kirby like this made it clear that her feelings for you went far beyond friendship.

It was sad really, this was probably the first time Kirby actually felt that way about someone and now...

Bandana Dee turned to give the spot where you were obliterated a solemn look only for that look to turn to one of surprise when she saw some kind of ethereal darkness hovering in the place where you met your end.

It was wriggling and writhing as smaller bits of darkness rose up from the ground and combined with it.

Before Bandana Dee could comment on this to Elfilin, her attention was immediately drawn back to Kirby and the unfortunate Snatchwing as Kirby let out another enraged scream.

The Snatchwing was burnt, battered and bruised as it attempted to pick itself up from the ground.

It had already taken a lot of damage from battling you, Bandana Dee and Kirby before, so it was already significantly weakened.

Now it was enduring a beating from a very angry girl who had enough power to smack a meteor back into space through multiple planets with a baseball bat.

As stated before this was more of a massacre than a fight.

The Snatchwing's attempt to stand up was foiled by Kirby who stretched her hand out and a giant pink fire claw the size of the tree formed and she delivered a hard slash to it's back.

The victim let out a pained screech as an orange liquid began bleeding from the wound.

The Flaming claw vanished and in it's place Kirby created a large dragon tail made of pink flames from her lower back.

She then promptly performed a forward somersault which made the tail strike the unfortunate victim pounding it further into the ground.

The tail vanished and Kirby flew into the air.

The image of you getting engulfed in an explosion was burned into her memories and knowing you died pushing her to safety just made it more painful.

Now all she wanted was to make this creature hurt as much as she was hurting now.

The Star Warrior inhaled deeply as her Flaming wings flared up as well.

Kirby than shot out a massive blast of powerful pink fire.

This blast flame soon morphed to form the shape of a burning dragon which let out a loud roar sending shockwaves that nearly blew Bandana Dee, Elfilin and the unconscious body they were protecting back.

The Snatchwing looked up and it's eyes widened at the sight of the giant dragon-shaped flame heading towards it.

The last thing it felt was searing blistering heat hotter than the center of a volcano as it was engulfed by the pink death.

This resulted in a large explosion of pink fire.

Like this but Pink:

It was so powerful that Elfilin had to put up a barrier to prevent themselves from being blown back.

As the explosion stopped giving rise to black smoke, Kirby began to slowly descend to the ground.

The smoke cleared and Elfilin dropped the barrier.

Kirby let out deep breaths, panting with fury as the smoke cleared completely revealing the Snatchwing was now completely gone, reduced to ashes.

Kirby continued to pant, glaring at the spot the beast that killed you once stood.

It was dead and you had been avenged.

Yet, Kirby still felt her heart aching just as bad as when she saw you die.

Sure this thing was dead now...but you were still dead...and you couldn't come back.

That thought broke Kirby's heart more than anything.

Tears began welling up in her eyes as she let out a few quiet sobs.

Kirby dropped to her knees once more and began sobbing softly clutching her chest.

It was truly heartbreaking to watch, for both Elfilin and Bandana Dee.

Kirby, a beacon of positivity who no matter what managed to keep a smile even against powerful entities capable of wiping galaxies was crying.

She did cry before, but it was usually over being denied food she really wanted.

This was different, it wasn't like a child crying over food, she was genuinely heartbroken.

The tears flowed like a waterfall and even formed a small puddle on the ground.

Elfilin and Bandana Dee were about to walk over and comfort her as best they could when the Bandana wearing warrior remembered what she saw at the spot you died and turned back to look at it.

What she saw made her eyes go wide in shock.

"Um...Kirby..." Bandana Dee yelled out as Elfilin attempted to comfort the pink star warrior who continued to sob having covered her face with her hands.

"Kirby." Bandana Dee yelled again but got no response.

"Bandana Dee, what is...it..." Elfilin asked turning to look over at Bandana Dee and like her his eyes widened when he saw what she was looking at.

"Um...Kirby..." Elfilin started.

"You'll want to see this." Bandana Dee finished and this seemed to get Kirby's attention.

"Wh-what is it?" She asked looking at the strongest member of the Waddle Dee tribe.

Bandana Dee simply used her spear to point at the place you died and when Kirby turned to look her sorrow diminished a bit mixing in with shock and confusion.

At the spot where you were obliterated, there stood or rather floated this entity.

It resembled you, or perhaps more accurately, a shadow of you with tendrils in place of legs.

Play this music:

"Wh-what?" Kirby asked getting up and walking towards the hovering shadow.

"Kirby, we should be careful." Bandana Dee said cautiously, but Kirby ignored her friend and just kept on approaching it.

The Shadow did not seem to notice her or anyone and just stared off into the distance.

Kirby reached out at it when she got close enough and suddenly a pulse of darkness erupted from the Shadow sending Kirby flying back and crashing into a tree.

Said tree snapped due to the force and the top half fell directly onto Kirby.

This resulted in Kirby losing her Dragon Fire ability and she was back to normal.

"KIRBY!" Bandana Dee yelled worried.

"I'm okay." She replied giving a thumbs up from under the tree before flinging the large half of the tree off of her herself with no sign of damage.

"I'm honestly still surprised at how durable you are." Bandana Dee said with a sigh of relief.

"You know I've taken worse than that." Kirby said dusting herself off and walking over to her.

Kirby, Bandana Dee and Elfilin then turned their attention back to the shadow who had not even budged from it's spot.

"So, what is that?" Kirby asked tilting her head. "Is it...him?"

Kirby of course was referring to you, and she was asking due to it's resemblance to you.

"I...don't know, maybe it's like his ghost." Bandana Dee suggested before turning to Kirby. "Kirby, you were a ghost before right, so is it?"

"I don't know." Kirby said with a shrug. "It's complicated and I don't know if my Ghost Copy ability counts as me becoming an actual ghost."

"Well, what ever it is, there's something...unsettling about it." Elfilin stated with a shudder. "It's like the feeling emptiness is radiating from that thing."

"What should we do?" Kirby asked.

"I have a feeling if we try to do anything to it it'll just blast us back like it did with you." Bandana Dee sighed. "So for now I think we should leave it alone."

That decision did not sit well with Kirby.

If there was a chance this was your ghost there could be a chance to bring you back.

"But..." She tried to say.

"Kriby, we're not gonna leave him, but we can't really do anything right now, so for now let's focus on the other guy we saved." Bandana Dee interrupted pointing at the person they had saved from the now deceased Snatchwing.

The Pink Star Warrior gazed at the shadow and clutched her chest.

She really didn't want to leave, but her friend was right, there was nothing they could do and a person needed help.

So Kirby let out a sigh and nodded.

"Okay, let's go." Kirby said giving the shadow a final look before following Bandana Dee And Elfilin to the unconscious person.

Stop Music:

They both kneeled down while Elfilin hovered in above the unconscious figure.

"Hey, buddy wake up." Kirby whispered gently shaking the body making him let out a quiet groan.

"Luckily he's not hurt." Elfilin stated as the body stirred.

Whoever it was, their eyes slowly fluttered open.

"Poyo, you're awake." Kirby said happily.

The person slowly rose to their feet and everyone could finally get a good look at him.

Elderbug:

"Hey old man, are you okay?" Kirby asked concern in her voice.

The old man rubbed his head which seemed to be aching.

When his vision cleared up he looked at the trio before him in surprise.

"Oh...were you the three that saved me from that dreadful creature?" He asked curiously.

"Well...four of us saved you...but..." Kirby took another look at the hovering Shaodw.

"Sir, are you alright, can you walk?" Bandana Dee asked.

"I'm fine young lady, there's no need to worry." The man assured with a chuckle. "I may be old, but I'm tougher than I look."

"That's good, but we'd still like to make sure you're alright sir." Elfilin stated.

"Please, call me Elderbug." The Man introduced with a small bow.

"Elderbug?" Elfilin asked. "That's quite an odd name."

"Not really." Kirby stated with a shrug.

"Yeah, my name's Bandana Dee." Bandana Dee stated.

"Plus, there are these two back on Planet Popstar named Lalala and Lololo." Kirby explained. "So yeah, not exactly strange."

"...Oh." Elfilin said a little embarrassed.

"Well, Elderbug sir we should take you back to Waddle Dee Town." Bandana Dee said confusing Elderbug a bit.

"Waddle Dee Town?" He asked curiously. "I've never heard of that place."

"Oh, it's not too far away, just over there." Kirby said pointing into the direction of Waddle Dee Town.

Elderbug got even more confused once he saw where Kirby was pointing.

"How odd, that is the same direction as the town I used to live in, before a pack of beasts drove us and the other residents out." Elderbug said making everyone turn to look at him

"Um..." Kirby said looking at Bandana Dee.

"Remember, the Ruins of Waddle Dee Town were there before we arrived." She replied.

Kirby sighed sadly at this.

Of course the Beast Pack would have kicked people from their village and wrecked everything.

"They certainly have some explaining to do." The Spear-wielder sighed as well.

Elderbug turned and noticed the hovering shadow.

"Oh my, what is that ghastly thing?" He asked sounding quite unsettled.

"Oh, that's the other guy that helped save you...I think." Kirby said sounding unsure.

"It's a long story, but right now, let's just get you to town Elderbug." Bandana Dee stated as she and Elfilin headed off with Elderbug following.

Kirby however gave the hovering shadow one last sad look.

"Please be okay." She whispered before sadly trudging along with the others.

The Pink Star Warrior had so many questions right now.

What was that creature?

Were the others Elderbug mentioned okay and could they be saved?

However, the question she wanted answred the most.

Were you okay?

She wanted you to be okay more than anything.

There was so many things she wanted to do with you.

Share her favorite foods with you, play with you, introduce you to all her other friends and she wanted to keep looking into those black eyes she found so captivating.

Right now, all she could do was hope you'd be back soon.
