Prologue / Introduction
Shinya had always enjoyed sitting on his roof and staring at the stars at night. In the recent weeks he has been unable to continue his nightly routine due to needing to study for exams. After a few weeks of resorting to distractedly staring out the window by his desk, he began to randomly see a girl with (h/l) (h/c) hair. She would either be sitting on the fence that was meant to keep people from falling, leaning against the wall, or laying on the floor. Whatever the position, one thing stayed consistent. She was always staring at the sky. Whether it was daytime or nighttime, she was always staring. The random spotting continued for a few weeks before she began appearing daily. Once exams were over Shinya decided to wait a day or two before continuing his routine like usual. During his wait, he noticed the girl continued on with her routine as well, so he decided to go out and join her, maybe he could make a new friend?
Grabbing his phone and headphones, in case this new girl wasn't much of a talker, he slowly opened his window, feeling the wind gently push his silver bangs back against his head. Carefully, as to not slip, he crawled out from the window and positioned himself on the roof and glanced up to see the girl staring at him in shock. Quickly jumping down from the ledge the girl began to run back inside without so much as a word. "W-wait!" Shinya yelled, hoping the catch the girl before she was out of range to hear him. The girl froze, slowly turning around while holding her cardigan closer to her body. After moving excruciatingly slowly, her enticing (e/c) orbs eventually met Shinya's captivating blues. A blush instantly rose onto her cheeks as she stared at him. "H-hey.." Shinya began timidly, "I've noticed you've been sitting outside, why haven't I seen you before? And what's your name? Mine's Shinya, if you care to know!" He finished, with a kind smile.
Quickly the girl began to respond to him with sign language, which was one thing he had never learned. He gazed at her with a confused expression and she quickly realized he didn't understand the complex hand motions she was making. Taking a minute to think of a good way to send her message to him, she soon perked up and turned back towards the boy. She made sure he was watching her before gesturing to her ears when giving a thumbs up. "Are you trying to say you can hear?" The girl nodded in response before pointing towards her mouth and making a slideways cutting motion in an attempt to tell him that she cannot speak. "Can't speak? So you're mute?" The girl nodded slightly, before looking down. "H-hey don't be sad! Not being able to talk isn't necessarily a bad thing, you know!" Shinya quickly stated without much thought. The (height) girl looked surprised for a second before her shock melted into a smile. She turned back to glance into her house for a moment before moving her hand into a sideways "peace sign" as a way to say "see you later" before running off. Still unsure of what the girl had just said the tall teen decided he would search for the meaning later. With a sigh Shinya put his headphones in and started playing some music, leaning back on the roof to think about the events of the day. This new girl interested him and he wanted to know as much about her as possible.
