Behind Love Is A Deep Secret ~ Part One

Warning:. Mentions of self harm, drug dealing, bomb explosion and suicidal thoughts in this chapter. Read at your own risk!!

3:30am

Priya firmly pressed the razor on an empty patch of skin on her wrist. She saw all the other scars, some recent red ones and other pink healing ones. Each told a story of all the pain and torture she endured.

She began moving the razor in a harsh and torturous way, moving the razor around her skin, letting it do its torturous magic. As the razor moved, tears started rolling down her rosy cheeks at the pain that oozed out with the ruby red blood.

Priya woke up after two hours because she couldn't sleep. After Prem told her that she has a police interview regarding the bomb explosion, her mind was haunting her about it. It kept replaying the event on repeat, the traumatising sound and the dangerous sight kept making her tremble and want to kill herself. So she cane to the bathroom to slit her wrist. She was craving the pain. It was the only thing she could control. And she felt that she deserved the pain, because of all the mental and physical pain she felt. If she was facing more and more problems, what was the point in living?

You're a scar to the earth. Worthless, pathetic, weak and a burden to Prem. So just kill yourself and you will be out of Prem's life - her mind haunted her.

Priya, stop torturing and hurting yourself. This isn't right. Prem loves you so much and is helping you through this. Think of how he will feel if he found out you were torturing yourself. Her heart told her.

After a few long minutes of cutting two scars, she got tissues to dab at the blood and wipe it. Once it stopped bleeding, she flushed the tissues away.

Suddenly, a loud bang was heard, making Priya jump and wince. She dropped the razor on the sink, making it clank and blood stain the basin. She felt tears gather in her eyes, thinking of the worst possible scenarios of where and what the sound was. It reminded her of the loud bomb explosion sound.

Priya left the blood covered razor on the basin, without washing it.

She left the bathroom, being met with the dark hallway. The whole house were asleep and Priya quickly tip toed back to her room. When she came in, she was again met with darkness, with the moonlight shining through the closed curtains of the balcony towards her sister and lover.

Priya needed some fresh air. So she walked to the balcony doors. She opened one curtain, opened the balcony door and stepped out in the night sky. She shut the door behind her. She walked over closer to the porch, placing her elbows on the balcony and staring up at the moonlight sky. The balcony lights were on, so she wasn't too scared. The night breeze blew against her hair, making it flow gracefully.

Priya worried about what would happen in the interview. She didn't want to be reminded of the bomb explosion, because it would tear her apart. She did not know what would happen afterwards. Would Rita make things worse for her? She didn't even know who planted the time ticking bomb. Her heart was telling it was Rita, but she couldn't just make such an accusation without proof.

Her life was getting worse day by day. She didn't know what to do with herself anymore. Everyday when she cut her wrist, she wanted to kill herself. But she never ended up dying. She wanted to die because Rita was trying to kill her, so why couldn't Priya make it easier for everyone by killing herself? She caused a lot of damage and she didn't know whether it would be fixed. So the only way was an attempt to try kill herself.

Keep killing yourself, worthless person - her mind haunted her.

No, this isn't right Priya. Killing yourself will only bring pain to others like Prem, who loves and adores you. Her heart told her.

But then, there was also Prem. Her motivation to live. His smile, his eyes and words were what made Priya think she shouldn't kill herself. She didn't want to break his heart and put misery in his life because he loved her so much. He was passionately in love with her and always expressed it.

Tears dropped down her cheeks and onto the balcony. She let them cascade down her face. Tears showed her hurt, pain, insecurity and vulnerability. She couldn't bottle it up. So with no one awake, she let them stream down her face. She dared not to let a sob out, because that would lead to a panic attack, and she didn't want to distract Preeti and Prem.

The wind blew against her, making her shiver and wrap her arms around her to warm herself. But she didn't have to worry, because a familiar pair of strong and loving arms wrapped around her slim waist and pulled her against a warm chest.

A soft and cute noise left Priya's sweet lips when she became startled at the sudden action. But she didn't have to worry too much because the person dipped their head down to kiss her jaw softly and soothingly. Priya closed her eyes as Prem began trailing loving and gentle kisses softly against her cheek up to her temple.

"Prince, what are you doing up at this time?" Priya asked sweetly once Prem finished kissing her, turning to face her tall and handsome lover and looking up into his warm brown eyes.

Prem placed his hands on her waist, pulled her closer and looked down at her green eyes. He answered softly,

"I could ask you the same question, Princess. I didn't feel your small body cuddled against mine and the bed was too cold and empty." Priya smiled sweetly before leaning up to softly kiss Prem on his lips, which he returned. She wrapped her arms around his neck to pull his head down closer. They softly devoured each other's lips. After a few seconds, they pulled away and Prem looked down at Priya once she went back down from her tippy toes.

"I see you're wearing my nightshirt." Prem chuckled fondly.

Priya woke up in the middle of the night to change from her pink salwar kameez dress to something more comfortable. She quickly looked through the closet, not realising she grabbed Prem's white nightshirt. It looked like a dress on her, coming below her knees, showing her white, milky and smooth legs. It smelt like Prem too, which made it better for her.

Priya looked up at him with her green eyes widened adorably, her hands covered in the sleeves of Prem's nightshirt, making it like mittens. She said in a small, sweet and innocent voice,

"Yeah, I wanted to change into something comfortable and I found this. I hope you don't mind, jaan." Prem cupped her soft and rosy cheeks and leaned down to nuzzle their noses together,

"Of course I don't mind, sweetheart. Whatever makes you feel comfortable." Priya smiled and they rubbed their noses in an Eskimo kiss.

"Thank you so much, handsome." Priya whispered, leaning up on her tippy toes to lift her head up to nuzzle her nose against Prem's.

"Your welcome, my love." Prem responded in a whisper. They pulled away, Priya got off her tippy toes and Prem asked,

"Why are you out here and not in bed?"

"Sleep broke." She replied in a small voice, fiddling with her fingers anxiously. But Prem knew something was wrong with Priya. He could tell by her scared and anxious facial expression that something was eating her alive. She was avoiding his gaze too, making it more worrying.

Weak and worthless. Always being a burden to him - her mind haunted her.

No, spill out what's bothering you. It will make you feel better. Her heart told her.

"Priya? Is something the matter, Shona?" Prem asked softly and with gentle care. Priya looked up at his warm brown orbs, love and curiosity swirling inside them.

Here we go again with you bothering and burdening him - her mind haunted her.

Spill it out, Priya. He deserves to know. It's about trust. Her heart told her.

Priya could feel tears brim her gorgeous eyes as she remembered what it was that bothered her. A whimper left her mouth and she immediately went closer to snuggle against Prem's chest. One hand rested on his chest, whilst the other around his neck.

Prem grew worried about Priya and wrapped his arms around her waist and buried his lips in her hair to kiss her head softly.

"Hey, hey. It's okay, Shona. I'm here." Priya started weeping in Prem's arms at how scared and frightened she was. Whatever it was, Prem wasn't going to leave her side. He didn't care how big or small it was, something was bothering her and he was going to help her.

He rubbed her back gently and let Priya have a moment. After a few minutes, she stopped crying and soft sniffles left her. She looked up from Prem's chest and he smiled down at her.

"Prem." She whimpered sadly.

You're a burden to him - her mind haunted her.

Keep going, Priya. Tell him. Her heart told her.

"What is it, Sanam?" He asked her softly. Priya gulped and said nervously and whimpered,

"I can't say."

"Why not?"

"Because you'll get fed up of me and my stupid problems." Priya whispered, burying her face in his chest. Prem sighed and shook his head. He knew Priya was letting her mind talk and he needed to assure her that everything would be okay. No matter how many times he has repeated himself, he will always remind the love of his life that everything was going to be okay if he was with her.

Prem grabbed Priya's face from his chest and said,

"Listen to me, Princess." He looked down into her eyes, checking if he had her full attention, which he did. Priya nodded slowly, proceeding for him to continue.

"I'll never get fed up of you. Not ever. Because I love you so much. And when you love someone so much, they matter the most to you. You give them your world, time and love. In regard to your problems, they're not stupid at all. I'm going to help you through it. Okay?" Priya gave a small smile, but Prem was fine with it. He leaned down to kiss her forehead lovingly and asked,

"Now, will you tell me what's wrong?"

Priya took a deep breath and looked up at him, trust and love swirling in his eyes, and said,

"I don't want to go to the interview at the police station." Prem furrowed his eyebrows and asked,

"Why?" Priya buried her face in his chest and whimpered,

"Because I don't want to be reminded of the bomb explosion. Just talking about it frightens me to death. It was the worst thing that's ever happened to me."

Prem's heart panged when he heard those anxious words leave Priya's mouth. He knew this was going to happen. But he had no choice. The police were investigating who was behind it and needed Priya's statement.

However, it triggered Priya and Prem felt guilty. He should have told Inspector Khan to wait a bit. He felt like an idiot for not thinking about Priya.

Prem cupped her face and got it out of his chest. He bent down a bit to reach Priya's eye level and looked into her eyes, which had fear written on them with tears,

"Oh Priya. I should have known how this could trigger you. You're traumatised by it." A single tear rolled down her rosy cheek and she said with a whimper,

"You don't know how much it has been scaring me. Just thinking about it just makes my heart pang. Prem, I can't get it out of my mind. I can't stop thinking about it without crying." Prem leaned forward to softly and reassuringly kiss her forehead and stood up. He whispered, with his arms opened for her,

"Come here." He enveloped Priya's small body in a warm hug as soon as she came closer to him and she cried out of fear. Her face was buried in his chest and she held onto his top. They held onto each other tightly, not letting each other go. Prem rubbed her back soothingly and consoled her with a soft kiss on the top of her head, while gently swaying them side to side slowly,

"Hey, Priya. It's okay. It's okay." He let Priya have a moment to herself and then she looked up at him. He smiled down at her,

"Princess, I know you're scared and frightened by the bomb explosion. But there's no need to be because in that event, you gained courage and strength." Priya widened her eyes in curiosity whilst tilting her head,

"How, Prince?" She asked in a small and sweet voice. Prem began running his fingers through her beautiful, straight brown hair gently and said,

"Because you ran out, knowing it was the right and brave thing to do. Had you not, you would have still been stuck there and I would have lost you forever. But I never did. Because my beautiful girl had the courage to run through fire for me. She knew it was the right thing to do and she should not give up on anything." Priya looked up at his eyes and saw the love and passion in his eyes.

"You think that highly of me, handsome?" She asked quietly in a sweet voice, trailing her small and soft hands up to Prem's shoulders.

"Of course I do. You're my Priya." He replied in a whisper, grabbing Priya's hands and entwining their fingers together.

You're still weak and pathetic no matter what anyone says - her mind haunted her.

No, Priya. Prem's right. You gained courage and strength in that dangerous event. Her heart told her.

"A weak and pathetic person." She whimpered shakily, untangling her fingers from his. Prem shook his head and wrapped his arms around her neck, looking down at her gorgeous green and teary eyes,

"Princess, stop. You're not weak and pathetic. Not at all. Please believe and trust me." He told her softly, tucking her straight her behind her left ear.

"Prem, honestly running through the fire was probably was most frightening thing I've done. I don't know how I did it, but it was like running through hell fire. I didn't think of how scary it was when I did it, but now thinking back, it's the scariest thing I've faced." She whimpered weakly. Prem leaned down to kiss her head and hugged her again. He didn't care how many times he hugged her, his favourite thing was hugging Priya. He knew it helped Priya a lot.

Priya buried her face in Prem's chest and placed her arms on his chest. He consoled her with gentle back rubs and said,

"Priya, I'm really sorry that happened to you. But please, Shona, you don't need to be scared because I'm here. I'm always going to be here with you." Priya mumbled softly,

"I know, Prince. You're my light in the darkness and my saviour. But still, I think the bomb explosion was targeted at me. My gut tells me." Prem and Priya pulled away from their embrace, but still in each other's arms. Prem looked down at her in concern and asked her,

"What do you mean, Sanam?"

"Something tells me Rita or Mami Ji had something to do with the bomb explosion. They knew about us having an argument." She replied in a small voice. Prem thought carefully through, Priya knew Rita's ways because she was used to the stuff she threw at her.

Suddenly, Prem realised and remembered something.

"Hang on."

"Kya hua, Rajkumar?" Priya asked looking up at him.

"Rita must know something about the bomb explosion. When we all found out that you were in Wistman Wood's Park where the bomb was planted, Rita came down and asked 'what's going on?' like she knew what was happening to you. I slapped her because she was like 'more like the bomb will kill Priya if you stop wasting your time shouting at me for something I had nothing to do with'." Prem told her.

Priya felt her heart clench. She couldn't believe it. Rita planned it. But why? Why couldn't she stop? Plus, there was no need for Rita to interfere because it was an argument between Prem and Priya, which they would have inevitably sorted out anyway. Rita just made things worse for Priya's mental health.

It had to be done because it would have removed a scar from the beautiful earth, which is you - her daunting conscience said.

No, Priya. That's not true. You are a true gem to this earth. Precious and valuable. It needs protecting and care, by Prem. Her heart guided her.

She felt tears gather in her eyes, blurring her vision. She looked straight ahead and shook her head slowly, hearing the sounds of the bomb explosion echo in her mind, whilst the scenes of the horrific explosion replayed again and again, and all the horrible words people said about and to her. All the mental and physical torture started taking over Priya and she couldn't stop it. It kept repeating itself and Priya didn't know what to do.

She started whimpering weakly out of fear and insecurity with tears rushing down her cheeks. She placed a hand on her aching head and sobbed violently,

"N-No, no, no. P-Please make it s-stop."

Make what stop? It's all going to haunt you because of what you did. You brought this upon yourself because you're weak and pathetic - her daunting conscience told her.

Priya, that's not true. It won't haunt you forever. None of what's happening is your fault. If you truly open your heart to Prem, he will guide you through this. Her heart told her.

"Priya!" Prem gasped out of shock, worry and panic evident in his voice and facial expression as he placed his hands on Priya's shoulders.

Whilst Priya whimpered at the flashbacks and choked with tears, she could feel herself lose control of her breathing and sensation of her legs, like she was going to tumble down on the floor soon. Prem saw her almost having a panic attack and falling, so he immediately caught her and wrapped his arms around her. He pulled her small and slim body close and rubbed her back gently and softly, while whispering sweet nothings in her ear as she buried her face in his chest and wrapped her arms around his neck,

"Hey Shona, it's okay, it's okay. I'm here. No need to cry, my love." He whispered against her head and placed a long, soft and passionate kiss on top of her head.

Prem allowed Priya to have a moment to herself, whispering sweet nothings till she calmed down. She looked up at him, gripped his top in a tight bunch and said in a small, sweet but desperate voice,

"P-Please don't leave me alone, Prem. I-I need you more than ever." Prem shook his head,

"I'll never leave you, Princess. You know that. I can't and don't want to leave you. Not after everything that's happened to you." He cupped her beautiful face and slightly kneeled down to reach her eye level. He looked into her beautiful green eyes that brimmed with tears, wiping them from her cheeks and told her softly, "I know this is hard for you. But you don't have to worry when you have me by your side. You don't have to be scared of anything when I'm going to help you through all this. But just to remind you, Princess, that you're brave and you'll be fine in the interview. You have what it takes. I have faith in you. It's in your heart, you need to just express and voice it." He then leaned closer to place a soft and loving kiss on Priya's clothed chest, where her heart was located.

Priya's heart fluttered at Prem's words, making her fall in love with him even harder. She was so grateful to have him by her side. He always believed in her and it made Priya believe in herself.

Prem pulled away and stood up. Priya smiled sweetly up at him, making Prem smile too with adoration, mentally cooing at the beautiful and adorable girl in front of him. Priya entwined her fingers with Prem's  and nodded slowly, her heart telling her to trust Prem. Prem leaned forward to kiss her forehead softly.

Priya fell into his arms in a hug. Prem was taken aback by the sudden action, but smiled fondly and wrapped his arms around her. Her face was buried in his chest and arms wrapped around his middle. Prem wrapped his arms around her waist and held her securely. They basked in each other's warmth and Priya sighed in content,

"You make everything less scary for me, Prem." She whispered. Prem leaned down to kiss her head softly and responded,

"I never ever want you to feel scared of anything because you don't deserve to be. We don't want Rita to win or ruin you. You show them that you're not afraid and that you'll put an end to this torture."

Priya looked up and nodded, making Prem smile, which she returned. He leaned down to place a sweet chaste kiss on her rosy lips and Priya beamed at the gesture.

"It's time for you to get your princess sleep, okay?" Prem said fondly, after seeing her yawn in the most adorable way. Priya nodded, sleepiness filling her eyes. She felt her legs get tired and holding a lack of energy, so she made grabby hands at Prem, silently asking him to lift her up. Prem's lifts were the best and her favourite. Prem cooed in adoration and said fondly, before lifting her up in bridal style in his arms,

"Come on, my Sleeping Beauty." Priya snuggled against his chest and closed her eyes, before whispering,

"Thank you, my Prince Charming." Prem kissed her head softly.

The lovers went back in the room and Prem placed Priya on her side of the bed, wrapping the blanket on her. Prem shut the balcony door and curtain, and made his way back to Priya, getting under the blanket and snuggling with her. They cuddled with each other, till they slept till the morning.

10:00am

Prem and Priya were on their way to the police station for their interview. Priya was still nervous, but Prem assured her that everything would be okay and that there was nothing to be afraid of. This was where courage lied and he knew Priya had it in her, it was just Rita's hateful words that were repeating itself in her head to tarnish it.

Prem sat on the drivers seat, his eyes focused ahead of the road as he drove, and Priya was sat at the passenger seat, staring down at her lap. She fiddled with her fingers nervously, worried about what will happen after the interview? What if the worst comes to the worst?

Everyone, except Mamta, Rita and Bhagwanti, gave her words of encouragement that she will be fine. It would make her feel better if she did this for herself.

Things will get worse because you deserve it all - her mind haunted her.

No, Priya. This will make you feel better. It will get rid of some pain and make you happy. Her heart told her. Think of Prem and how happy he will be. He believes in you so much.

Priya smiled as her heart spoke about Prem. It was right. Prem had faith in her because of his love. She slowly moved her gaze to Prem and admired his warm brown eyes, his handsome features and charming smile. She loved all that about him, but mostly his compassionate heart. Because it with his heart that he loved Priya with and Priya reigned it. The way he took care of her and complimented her made her feel fluttered and happy. Prem was her happiness and she didn't know what she would do without the love of her life.

She leaned over and planted a soft and sweet kiss on Prem's cheek which lasted for a few long seconds, before pulling away. Prem smiled at the gesture, but furrowed his eyebrows in confusion slightly in a charming way, turning to face her.

"What was that for?" He asked softly.

Priya felt soft blush growing on her cheeks, so she avoided his gaze by looking down at her lap before replying a quiet and sweet,

"Nothing." Prem took her one of her small and soft hands close to him to squeeze gently and kiss her fingers lovingly. He then placed her hand on the steering wheel, with his on top and continued driving.

"You obviously have something in that beautiful mind and heart of yours, Princess, because you've been smiling and shying away to yourself." Prem told her kindly, with fondness in his voice.

Beautiful mind and heart, ha as if - her mind haunted her.

You do have a beautiful mind and heart, that's why Prem loves you. Her heart told her.

She looked up at him and gasped sweetly, feeling a bit embarrassed,

"You were watching me?"

"Of course I was, sweetheart. You look adorable as always." Prem cooed at her.

You're not adorable. You're weak and pathetic - her mind haunted her.

No, you are adorable. Everyone knows that Priya. Her heart told her.

"Handsome, you aren't supposed to look away whilst driving." She scolded cutely.

"You distracted me, Shona, with your adorableness. That's on you." Prem playfully scolded, sticking his tongue out at her. An adorable giggle left Priya's lips and she said sweetly,

"Jaan, you could've killed us."

You don't deserve to live anyway - her daunting conscience told her.

No, you deserve to live happily with Prem. Her heart said.

"At least we'll be together up in heaven, Princess." Prem said kindly, puckering his lips towards Priya for a kiss. Priya moved her hand away from Prem's on the steering wheel to turn Prem's head away.

"Prince, focus on driving! You almost killed us for real!" She exclaimed cutely and sweetly with an adorable giggle, making Prem chuckle fondly and focus on driving. They were almost there, just a few minutes left.

"But seriously, Shona, what was that kiss for?" Prem asked. Priya mentally shook her head fondly, thinking if Prem could get any cuter with his charming curiosity. She smiled bashfully and said softly,

"I-I was getting scared and worried about the interview and then my heart spoke out when my mind started haunting me."

"And what did your beautiful heart tell you, sweetheart?" Prem asked fondly.

"That this interview will make me feel better and get rid of some pain. It will make me happy and also you happy." She said, smiling shyly with soft blush appearing on her cheeks. Prem looked at her quickly and cooed softly,

"Priya, you sweet darling." He wanted to pull her into a hug and kiss her, but obviously he couldn't whilst driving. Priya got her hand out, for him to hold it, which Prem took. He entwined their fingers together and placed it on the steering wheel again. "Your heart is right. This will make you feel better. I'm so proud of you, Princess. This is courage and hopefully it will make you feel better. I have faith in you." He continued.

"You really do, don't you?" She asked dreamily and sweetly, gazing at him fondly. Prem lifted her hand that he had and brought it close to his lips to kiss her fingers gently. He then placed it back on the steering wheel, placed his hand on top and said whilst driving,

"I always have, Priya. But I also want you to start having faith in yourself. I know it's hard considering the emotional pain you have, but please know, that you are strong, brave and many more gifted things. And mostly remember I love you so much." He said, with adoration in his voice. He started parking the car and Priya responded softly,

"I love you more. Thank you so much." Prem turned the engine off and looked at her with a smile. He cupped one side of her face and said,

"Anytime. Now, we're here. Are you ready?"

We will see how weak and pathetic you are there - her daunting conscience told her, making her gulp nervously.

Priya's mood suddenly changed. It was like one moment she was ready to face it, and now she wasn't. Priya knew she couldn't do it. She couldn't find herself to have faith in this. She could see the bomb explosion replaying in her head and it just brought water in her eyes, full of fear and pain. It felt like a stab in her heart.

Her mind kept replaying its hateful and sinister words and all the physical torture in her head. Priya couldn't even hear her heart speak out to her, so she turned away from Prem's gaze, to hide the tears that formed in her eyes. She placed a hand on her aching head. She didn't want Prem to think she was weak and pathetic or a burden.

You are a pathetic burden to him - her mind haunted her.

No, you're not. It's okay to be scared and nervous. We're humans. Tell him what's wrong, Priya. Her heart told her.

"Hey, talk to me, Princess." Prem asked softly, placing his fingers under her chin to turn her face towards him. He saw the tears building up in her eyes and his heart broke at the sight. He knew Priya was absolutely frightened and he couldn't blame her.

"I-I can't do it, Prem. I c-can't." She whispered shakily, while shaking her head.

Prem wiped the slight tears that slowly started rolling and told her gently,

"Yes you can, my love. I know you can. Like I said before." Priya grabbed Prem's hand and entwined their fingers together because she needed Prem's safety and protection.

"I'm scared and frightened, handsome." She whimpered in fear. Prem brought up her hand to his lips to press a soft kiss and then said,

"I know, Shona. I don't blame you. But you need to trust yourself. No one will hurt you after this interview. No one. And don't be scared if I'm here."

Exactly. Prem is your light in the darkness and he will help you. Her heart told her.

Priya nodded, wiping her tears and moving closer to hug Prem. She wrapped her arms around his neck and buried her face in his neck. Prem wrapped his arms around her back and basked in her warmth. He knew Priya needed a hug to remind her that he was there for her. He kissed her head softly and then pulled away,

"Come on." They both got out of the car and headed inside the police station, hands entwined.

Meanwhile at home, everyone was having breakfast in the dining table.

Amar walked in the bathroom to go to the sink. As he was about to turn on the cold sink, but something caught his eyes.

Blood stains on the sink and a razor.

His heart started beating fast. He didn't know what to think. So many questions whirled in his mind, he didn't even know which one to start with.

Who was bleeding and why did they leave everything  covered in blood?

Why did they use a razor and who was behind it?

Amar slowly took the razor and had a look at the blade, seeing blood covered on it. He was beyond shocked. He didn't know what to do. He knew it couldn't be one of the boys who were shaving themselves and started bleeding, because they knew perfectly well how to shave.

Something else popped in his mind. Could someone be torturing themselves, or more like self harm?

His only guess was Priya. Was Priya self harming because of everything she was going through? It seemed like the possible explanation considering she was suicidal and the physical and emotional pain was killing her. Since she has no control over anything in her life, this must be giving her control. Moreover, over time, Priya must be believing she deserves the pain because of everything.

It seemed to click to Amar. If Priya tried to kill herself with sleeping pills, she could possibly be trying to cut and slit her wrist.

But then, it was Bhagwanti that gave her the sleeping pills to kill herself. So, was Bhagwanti the one who brainwashed Priya to self-harm?

"What's taking you long, Amar?" The sound of Amar's lover, Neha, was heard. He turned around and gave a small smile. Neha raised her eyebrow in concern at Amar's expression. She walked over to him and said,

"Everyone's waiting for you at the breakfast table." But Amar did not respond, which worried Neha. She followed his gaze and gasped at the blood stained basin and razor in his hand.

"What on earth?" She gasped in shock.

"I know. That was my reaction too, Neha." He responded.

"Whose is it?" Neha asked.

"You know what I think. You may think I'm crazy." Amar said.

"No, of course not. Say it." She said, putting her hand on his shoulder.

"I think it's Priya's." Amar said. Neha looked at him with wide eyes, full of shock. She then looked at the blood stained on the sink and the razor.

"You think she is self harming?" She asked.

"Yes because of everything she's gone through, she must be trying to kill herself or take control." Amar reasoned.

"Most importantly, she's suicidal. She must be trying to kill herself." Neha said.

"I think Mami Ji brainwashed her to self harm in order to kill herself. If she did that with the sleeping pill overdose, she could be the reason for this." Amar said.

"Okay, but we need to tell the others, and then try ask Mami Ji or Rita." Neha said.

"What about Prem? Should we tell him?" Amar asked.

"Let's first tell the others, then see what Bhabi and Baiya say." Neha said, which Amar nodded to.

Amar's heart was beating fast, not knowing where this new found discovery would lead them all to. He didn't want to know, but it had to be discovered, sooner than later.

"Priya Malini." A familiar and deep voice called.

The couple, who sat closely on the seats, looked up to see Inspector Khan stand there with a friendly smile.

Good luck, you pathetic burden. You'll cry and mess up in the interview - her mind haunted her.

No you won't. Prem will be there to support you because he loves you so much. Her heart told her.

"In your own time." Inspector Khan told them kindly, waiting for them.

Prem turned to face Priya, who seemed really nervous and scared, like she was close to crying. He smiled softly and leaned down to kiss her forehead gently and lovingly. He then wrapped an arm around her to bring her closer against his body, which she snuggled, and whispered on top of her head,

"I love you so much, Priya. I know you can do this. You have what it takes. Do this for me. Okay, Shona?" Priya took a deep breath and wiped her eyes.

You won't be able to do this, pathetic girl - her mind haunted her.

Yes you can, Priya. As Prem said, you have what it takes. Her heart told her.

She looked up at Prem and smiled,

"Yes. I can do this. I have to do this. I know I can and I will not let Rita win. Most importantly, I don't want to let you down, Prem." She whispered, with strength and determination. Prem gave her that motivation and hope.

Prem smiled fondly and leaned over to kiss her forehead softly once again.

"That's my girl." She beamed up at Prem and he took her hand in his. They stood up and both walked over to Inspector Khan, who smiled at them.

"Follow me." He said and led them to the nearest room. Prem and Priya went inside and Inspector Khan shut the door.

They all took a seat at the desk. Priya and Prem entwined their hands and Inspector Khan sat opposite them. He smiled and got everything ready.

"Thank you so much for coming, both of you. Especially Priya. Now, I know what happened the day before yesterday was traumatising and horrific, but we have to investigate who was behind it. Your statement could really help us, Priya. It will help us track the culprit. I'm going to ask you a few questions about the bomb explosion and you can take your time in answering. Give as much detail as you can. Don't think of this interview as just an investigation, but just as a way of spilling your fears and worries out." He explained to Priya, who looked at him curiously and sweetly.

You won't be able to handle this knowing how weak and pathetic you are - her mind haunted her.

You can do it. You have what it takes. Prem knows you can do it. Her heart spoke.

Prem leaned over closer to her and said softly,

"He's right, Shona. Think of this interview as a way of putting certain horrible things behind you and moving forward. Show the world that you won't let any torture or danger defeat you." He had one arm wrapped around her waist for support and Priya knew they were right. She shouldn't let anything put her down. She knew she could do this. Her evil thoughts could not take over her.

"You're right. I'm ready to do this." She said sweetly with a hint of determination and courage in her voice. Prem's heart fluttered at her determination, feeling proud of Priya. He could see she was slowly gaining courage and he knew she would be able to battle any obstacle that would come ahead of her.

"My beautiful girl." He cooed in a whisper against her cheek before pressing a gentle and loving kiss on it. She smiled and they both looked at Inspector Khan who smiled and started the interview in a slow and calm manner. Prem held Priya's hand the whole time for encouragement and support.

Meanwhile, Amar and Neha told the others about the blood covered razor. To say they were shocked was an understatement.

"You think Priya is self harming?" Anjali, Sadhana and Preeti gasped out of shock.

"No way!" Sameer, Rahul, Vivek, Rohan and the rest replied. All their eyes bulged out of their sockets.

"It's a guess, because none of us bleed when shaving. We always use shaving cream, which is obvious." Amar said.

"There were blood stains on the bathroom sink. This is all self harm. And it is a way of committing suicide. The only person must be Priya considering everything she is going through." Neha said.

Everyone else looked at each other in horror and shock, especially Preeti and Sadhana. Sadhana fell and sat down on the sofa in shock, her hand on her mouth. Vivek and Preeti sat next to her and Sadhana said in shock,

"I can't believe this at all. My baby sister is self harming. She wants to kill herself so badly, but she doesn't deserve to."

"I know Jiji. She doesn't deserve to cut her wrist. She doesn't even deserve the torture she's facing, but Rita and Mami Ji just give it to her. I really just want to comfort Priya and tell her to stop and that everything will be okay. This will all end." Preeti said.

"But, telling someone to stop self harming isn't easy. You can't tell someone who's been stabbed to stop bleeding. I mean, it's a delicate thing and you have to approach a suicidal person in a certain way, as if you're talking to a child, not just throw it at them." Vivek said, which the others agreed with.

"Who is going to be the one to approach Priya then?" Anjali, Sameer, Anand and Sangeeta asked.

"I reckon it should be Prem. He is the only one that can handle Priya delicately and she would be more likely to open up to him because she's more comfortable with him." Vivek said.

"Someone will have to tell Prem Baiya and my gut is going to tell me that he won't take it very well. I mean, this is the love of his life we're talking about. He won't believe that Priya is self harming." Anand said.

"Something is telling me that it isn't Priya that's self harming. I think it's Rita or even Mami Ji." Lalloo said.

"What nonsense are you talking about? They would never think of harming themselves because of their egos." Chameli said.

"Nahi, Lalloo maybe right. I mean, Rita has been in an abusive relationship and so maybe trying to kill herself. That's the only explanation." Rahul pointed out.

"You think she would actually self harm like that, knowing how vindictive and selfish she is?" Sameer asked, the pure disgust of Rita leaving his mouth.

"Someone is going to have to ask that asshole. It's not going to be me." Rohan said and Simran agreed,

"I don't want to see her after what happened yesterday."

"Well, I'm just going to want to break and smash her body till she dies if I see her, so that's a no from me." Anjali scoffed.

"Whose body are you going to break and smash till they die if you see them, Anjali?" A familiar voice, which they all despised, sounded in the living room, making the air thick with loathe and tension.

Everyone turned around and saw Rita, with Mami Ji, smirking in a sinister and malicious way. The others had a look of fury and anger written on their faces, just seeing the both of them, but especially Rita.

"Yours if you don't get out of our sight right now." Anjali growled angrily, eyes darkening with so much hatred towards Rita and her fists clenching.

"Oh really? Because I thought you were talking about Priya." Rita smirked maliciously.

"You really just cause one mess after another and never stop? After yesterday, you still won't leave my baby sister alone. I don't understand why you just won't keep her name from your disgusting mouth." Sadhana growled angrily.

"Mami Ji? Look at the way they're all treating me. With such disrespect." Rita whined to her aunt. But Bhagwanti did not say anything because deep down, she knew that Sadhana and the others were right.

"Look, your aunt isn't even defending you. Shows how much your drug dealer of an aunt cares about you. Plus, Anjali wasn't even talking about hurting Priya. Unlike you, Anjali isn't vindictive, evil and selfish to hurt innocent people for their own needs. She's not as cold hearted as you." Vivek said angrily, making Rita shocked because her elder cousin brother never spoke like that at her, so this was a first.

"We were actually talking about you, Rita. Since, you've got a lot to say about yourself." Simran said, raising one eyebrow and narrowed her eyes.

"Kya?" Rita asked.

"Amar and Neha found a blood covered razor and drops of blood in the bathroom sink this morning. We wanted to know if it was yours or if you knew anything about it." Preeti asked.

"No. I mean, why would I have anything to do with it?" She replied.

"I mean, you said you were in an abusive relationship in the past. Is it not affecting you in any way possible to the point you're cutting your wrists?" Rahul asked.

"No not at all. I don't really think about self harming myself just because I was in an abusive relationship." Rita said, which made everyone give weird looks.

"Well, of course you wouldn't. You're too much of a self centred prick and just like to cause harm on others." Rohan and Sameer muttered under their breath, which made some of them snigger and others smirk.

"What's so funny?" Rita asked.

"No, nothing. He was just saying, good for you." Simran fibbed before coughing awkwardly.

"Rita, if you know anything about this razor, please tell us." Neha said.

"I don't know and I don't care who is self harming. But my only guess is Priya." Rita said venomously.

"You clearly have no heart and that's why you don't care. Maybe if you stopped to think about what you're doing to Priya, you would see how self harm is wrong. No one deserves to be tortured or torture themselves. She is probably self harming because of everything you've put her through." Anwar said.

Rita didn't say anything. She just couldn't get herself to sympathise with Priya due to her hard heart.

"You can both leave now." Vivek said after a moment of silence, making Rita and Bhagwanti leave the room.

Mamta was in the hallway and heard everything that was said. She had found out that Priya was self harming and she felt like Prem deserved to know. It wasn't fair that Priya was keeping this from him because this was going to cause more stress on him. So Mamta decided that she would be that one to tell Prem.

"Priya, do you recognise this car." Inspector Khan said, sliding a picture of a silver car towards Priya and Prem, whose hands were entwined.

So far, the interview went well. With Prem by her side and Inspector Khan's kindness, Priya felt comfortable to tell them everything that she had witnessed in the bomb explosion. She didn't spill any tears and she felt good about that. This was what courage felt like and she was thankful for Prem by her side.

Priya and Prem took a closer look and narrowed their eyebrows.

"No I don't recognise that car." Priya said.

"This car was near the park in the whole duration of the explosion. We don't know if the person might have anything to do with it yet." Inspector Khan said.

"Hang on. I recognise that car." Prem said in realisation, making the other two look at him.

"Whose is it, jaan?" Priya asked sweetly in curiosity, placing a hand on his chest, feeling herself panic. Prem placed his hand on hers, entwined their fingers and took a deep breath,

"It's Ajay's."

"Ajay?" Inspector Khan wondered.

"H-How do you know?" Priya asked with a slight panic in her voice.

Weak and pathetic as always - her mind haunted her.

No, Priya. You're doing really really well. Prem is really helping you. Her heart told her.

"Because it was that car which you were kidnapped in on Karva Chauth, remember?" Prem asked.

The memories of Karva Chauth hit Priya like a ton of bricks and her mind started replaying the horrific memories. She felt herself grow nervous and scared. It was a few weeks ago, but it only felt like it happened yesterday.

See, you're such a burden to everyone - her mind haunted her.

Keep going Priya. You're doing really well. Her heart told her.

"So it was Ajay. He's always out to get me because of Rita." Priya panicked, feeling scared, looking up at Prem, with slight tears in her eyes.

Here we go, you're being a weak and pathetic scar to the beautiful earth - her mind haunted her.

No Priya. We all get scared sometimes and that's fine. You've got Prem by your side. Her heart told her.

"Ssh Shona, come here. It's okay." Prem cooed softly and quietly, bringing her close to his chest, where she rested her head and he kissed her head softly twice.

"Ajay? He did that? Why didn't you report that incident on Karva Chauth?" Inspector Khan asked, whilst writing down Ajay's name.

"I have no idea honestly. Unlike now, we weren't aware of what was really happening, you know. We thought he would just stop." Prem reasoned, whilst Priya snuggled against him.

"We need to look into him. Can you both tell me what happened on Karva Chauth?" Inspector Khan asked.

Priya looked up at Prem as soon as he smiled down at her encouragingly.

"Go on, Princess."

Why? Stop being such a burden to them - her mind haunted her.

Priya, you've got it in you. You've come so far so well and Prem is proud of you. Make him more proud. Her heart told her.

"Well, when I went in the kitchen, I was doing something, suddenly a white cloth covered my mouth and something hit by head. I was unconscious and I remember after a few minutes waking up in a dark place, tied up to a chair, with fire around me. Then Prem, Sameer Baiya, Amar, Rahul, Preeti Didi, Neha and Anjali came to save me." Priya explained, holding and entwining Prem's hand when he reached for her hand.

"And what about you, Prem?" Inspector Khan asked.

"We followed the car and it led to some haunted building. Almost broken and sinister. Never was I ever scared in my entire life. Honestly, the risk and danger Ajay has brought upon my Priya is unbelievable and I just want him behind bars." Prem said, his heart clenching at the memories of when Priya was in danger. He turned and leaned down to kiss Priya's hair soothingly when she snuggled further cozily against him.

"What has Rita got to do with this? I'm aware she's your cousin sister, Prem, and she wants to sabotage your relationship with Priya." Inspector Khan said.

"Well, she plotted everything with Ajay and Vicky to hurt and possibly kill Priya because she doesn't like how Priya and I are happily together." Prem explained, leaving out the part of her abusive relationship with Dev because it was not any of his business.

"I see. Okay I'll have a look into Ajay and Rita. Could you both perhaps keep an eye out on Ajay? I know, Priya, you don't want to be near him, but this is the only way to get him behind bars." Inspector Khan said.

Priya perked her head up from Prem's chest and looked at him.

"Okay, we can do that, Inspector." Prem said, with a smile. But Priya had look of worry and fear written on her face.

You're being such a weak and pathetic person - her mind haunted her.

No, tell them what is bothering you. Her heart told her.

Prem looked down and saw Priya looking like she was going to burst into tears.

"Kya hua, Priya?" He asked softly, caressing her cheek.

"What if Ajay and Rita come hurt and attack me more because we're keeping an eye out for them?" Priya asked in a small voice.

You're made to be hurt. Because you're pathetic and weak - her mind haunted her.

No, you're allowed to be scared and that's when you should open up to Prem. Her heart told her.

"Why would they? I won't let them. You're safe with me. The others and I will take care of you." Prem said, smiling reassuringly.

"Then you will use the police as a threat. You will call us if something happens, okay?" Inspector Khan said.

"You're right. It's time to stop letting people make me scared and fight for what's right. I won't let them put me down or ruin me." Priya said. Prem smiled fondly, feeling the love for Priya grow inside. He leaned down to softly peck her cheek.

"Exactly, Princess. I'm proud of you." He whispered softly against her cheek. Inspector Khan smiled fondly at the love birds.

"Thank you both. You did really well Priya. You're free to go now." Inspector Khan said. The three of them stood up, the police officer shaking the couple's hands before leading them out.

Prem and Priya entwined their hands together, with Prem's arm draped over Priya's shoulders and Priya's other arm around Prem's back, with her head against his shoulder. Prem leaned down to kiss Priya's head as they walked out of the police station.

They walked to Prem's car which was parked near large grass area. They stood in front of the car close to each other. Priya was leaned against it, lost in her own thoughts. Prem smiled down at her fondly, placing one hand on the car,

"Hey, Shona." He said softly to grab her attention from her small daydream. Priya looked up slowly to meet her lover's charming eyes and smiled sweetly, soft blush appearing on her beautiful cheeks,

"Hey handsome." She replied sweetly and softly. He placed his arm that was on the car around Priya's slim waist to bring her closer.

"What are you thinking about?" He asked fondly, tucking the straight beautiful brown locks of hair behind her ear to get a better view of her beautiful voice. Priya replied,

"About how I didn't cry or break down during that interview. I don't know how I did it. Compared to the interview of the sexual harassment case, this one seemed to just get rid of the weight and heavy feeling in my heart and shoulders." Prem smiled fondly as he heard the love of his life talk, loving the sound of sweet happiness in her angelic voice.

"Because you are becoming braver and stronger each day, Princess. You're slowly starting to break down the walls around you to help you recover, which is making me proud of you." Prem told her in a soft voice, leaning down to kiss her forehead lovingly and gently for a few seconds.

There's more to come for you - her mind haunted her.

No, Priya. You did really well. Her heart told her.

Priya knew her troubles and worries were not over yet. Her self harming was still going on and she was still keeping that away from Prem. She knew self harm wasn't going to solve her problems, but it was the only thing that gave her control.

"I generally thought I wouldn't be able to do it. But knowing you were there to support me helped the most. Holding your hand helped me so much and I'm grateful for you, Prem." She said softly, using her index finger to stroke his soft cheek.

Prem smiled lovingly, feeling the love for Priya grow. His heart fluttered fondly and he said cutely,

"I think you owe me something since you couldn't give it to me in the car and I think I've earned it now." He puckered his lips and Priya giggled adorably, knowing perfectly well what he was hinting at. She shook her head fondly, grabbing Prem's soft chin gently so she could lean up and connect their lips together in a loving and passionate kiss.

Both their eyes were closed and their lips moved in perfect sync, with Prem placing his hand on Priya's waist. Sparks and fireworks went off everywhere as they kissed. The kiss lasted for a few seconds until they pulled away for air.

"That's much better. Thank you." Prem said, making Priya chuckle.

"You're such a dork." Priya said cutely, stroking his cheek. Prem pouted cutely and said,

"Yeah but I'm your dork." Priya giggled softly and leaned up to sweetly kiss his pout before cooing,

"Yes you are my dork and I love you so so much."

"And I love you more." Prem replied.

"Prem, do you think we would be able to get Ajay behind bars? Do you think it's possible for us to put him in his place?" Priya asked slightly worried. Her mind started speaking again. Prem grabbed her fingers together.

No because no matter what happens, you will always get into danger because you're made to be hurt. You're weak and pathetic and don't deserve to be living in the earth with Prem - her mind haunted her.

"Of course we would and we will, my darling. Because the righteous people will always gain victory. You have the strength and courage inside you, we all know this, Priya. But you need to get it out and express it. Show the world that you will never let anyone defeat or hurt you because you don't deserve it. You deserve all the love, warmth, comfort and happiness in the universe. You have to show Ajay, Rita and Mami Ji that you won't let them take it away from you, just like you did with Vicky." Prem explained, entwining their fingers together.

Priya looked up into his eyes as he told her, seeing the love and passion in them. She fell into a deeper pit of love with Prem because of how much faith he had in her. He always lit the lamp in her heart when she felt scared in the dark simply by his words.

He's absolutely right, Priya. Courage and strength will allow you to do this. Trust him and he will help you. Her heart told her.

"You have such faith in me, don't you?" She asked dreamily.

"Always have and always will, now come here and bring your ear closer, beautiful." Prem mumbled lovingly before placing his warm and soft lips on her ear and cheek to lovingly kiss her. Priya giggled cutely, allowing Prem to be affectionate with her while she turned her head to look straight ahead.

Whilst Prem was kissing and smooching her cheek, Priya recognised someone familiar in a corner talking to someone else familiar. One of them handed something to the other person. Priya watched intently and curiously for a few seconds, until her eyes widened in shock when she realised who it was.

That's right. People are planning to get rid of the burden and scar of the beautiful earth which is you - her mind told her

Her heart clenched, her body shivered at the evil thought and she felt her eyes water when she saw Bhagwanti and Ajay drug dealing. Now she felt like Bhagwanti did really want to kill her with drugs. She obviously lied to Prem, Rahul and Amar yesterday. She couldn't believe her eyes. Then, a scared whimper left her mouth, making Prem pull away and look down at her worriedly.

"Kya hua, Sanam?" He asked.

"M-Mami Ji and A-Ajay." She whimpered, falling against Prem's chest, where he wrapped one arm around her protectively. Priya placed her hands on Prem's chest, while snuggling against him. He leaned his head against Priya's head and watched with careful eyes what Bhagwanti was doing. Ajay and Bhagwanti seemed to be discussing it more like planning something and Prem wasn't going to allow it to happen.

"That bitch and piece of shit." He growled angrily, making Priya cuddle into his chest, growing more anxious.

"Prem, they're drug dealing. That means she really does want to kill me with drugs because it explains Ajay there." Priya whimpered in a small and frightened voice, which barely reached a whisper.

"I won't let her get away with this or hurt you, Priya. Come on, we'll follow them so we have more of an idea." Prem said. Priya looked up at Prem and asked,

"Are you sure, Rajkumar?" Prem looked down at her with a soft look and charming smile,

"Yes Rajkumari because I want to protect you and keep you safe. That means, we need to see what they're up to, together." Priya smiled sweetly, leaning up to softly peck his lips which he returned on her lips,

See, he's always here to protect you because that's how much he loves you. Her heart told her.

She stepped back down from her tippy toes and sighed sweetly,

"I love you."

"I love you too. Now get in the car." He said, going over to the passenger side to open the door for Priya to sit. Once she sat inside, Prem shut the door and went over to sit in the drivers side. He shut the door and the love birds buckled their seatbelts on.

Prem started the car and drove to where Ajay and Bhagwanti were slowly and cautiously. The lovers looked carefully till they saw Ajay and Bhagwanti with drugs and doing suspicious things, like they were planning something dangerous.

They're planning something on you because you don't deserve to be in the world, you weak and pathetic burden and scar in the beautiful earth - her mind haunted her.

Priya felt herself panic and grow anxious just by thinking about the possibilities of what Ajay and Bhagwanti could be planning. It obviously had something to do with her, because Ajay only plotted against Priya and put her through so much danger.

Prem, on the other hand, was livid at what he was seeing. Bhagwanti lied to him about the drug dealing - he knew they were planning something to hurt Priya, despite Bhagwanti telling him yesterday that she wasn't going to harm her. He wasn't going to let them get away with this. He had to save Priya from whatever they were doing. He gripped the steering wheel with force till his knuckles turned white.

His thoughts were interrupted when he heard a frightened and anxious whimper in the car, knowing who it was, which made his heartstrings tug. He turned to see Priya trembling whilst staring straight ahead.

"Shona." He called softly. Priya turned to look at her lover, who saw her teary eyes. "Please Priya, you've done so well this morning. Let's not ruin your perfect day, okay, Princess?" He added, grabbing her hand to entwine their fingers together.

The day is about to come worse for a pathetic wimp like you - her mind haunted her.

Priya, let Prem guide and comfort you, no matter what. He loves you so much, remember that. Her heart told her.

Prem was right. She was doing so well and whatever Bhagwanti and Ajay were planning, Prem wouldn't let them win.

Priya nodded sweetly and said sweetly, but in a hurt and scared voice which didn't even reach a whisper,

"Okay, can we just get out from here, please jaan? I don't want to see what they're up to anymore. It's too scary and horrifying." Prem smiled softly and reassuringly, before kissing her fingertips and fingers soothingly and gently.

"Of course. Anything my Princess wishes." He said softly. He placed Priya's hand that he had entwined on the steering wheel, so he could place his hand on top for comfort. He started driving them home, whilst the two lovers chatted and sent loving glances towards each other.

Later that day in the afternoon

Prem and Priya came home at around 4 in the afternoon. Prem thought he should take Priya's mind off what they saw by just going on a stroll to a floral meadow and ate ice cream. Prem realised that flowery meadows helped Priya's mental health a lot, so he felt like he had to take her out a lot more rather than keeping her in the house.

They walked hand by hand inside the house. Before opening the door, Prem and Priya turned to each other. He wrapped his arms around her neck, looking down fondly at her,

"I'm proud of you, sweetheart. More than anything." He leaned down to softly kiss her warm forehead.

"I couldn't have done it without you, Prince." She responded sweetly. "Thank you for taking me to the flowery meadow and buying me ice cream. I really enjoyed it." She added, leaning up to plant a sweet and loving kiss on Prem's cheek. Prem smiled softly at her adorable gesture once she went back down on her tippy toes, then he leaned down to kiss her forehead lovingly again.

"I'm glad you did, Shona, and it was my pleasure." He told her with a charming and loving voice.

Priya and Prem looked into each other's eyes, that swirled with beautiful love and adoration for each other. The same thoughts ran in their minds:

What did they do to deserve each other?

How their love for each other was growing and blossoming every second for each other

The lovers really wanted to share a passionate and loving kiss, but knew they couldn't because they were outside the house. So Priya decided to snuggle against Prem's body, her head on his chest and arms wrapped around his middle. Prem's arms were wrapped around her waist and face buried in her beautiful hair. They breathed each other's beautiful scent and Priya mumbled sweetly,

"I'm so grateful for you, handsome." Prem cooed mentally and leaned down to kiss her head.

"Aww me too, Shona. I love you so much, you know that right?"

He shouldn't even be loving a pathetic person like you who had brought tension to the family and stress in his life - her daunting conscience said.

Priya lifted her head up to look up at Prem and saw his smile, then her heart spoke out,

He should love a sweet and amazing girl like you, Priya. You deserve him and the world. You just have to trust him and things will get better.

"Of course. I love you too." She said sweetly with an adorable smile.

"Let's go inside now. Please stay close by my side or the others', away from Maa, Rita and Mami Ji. Okay, Sanam?" Prem said entwining their fingers together.

Priya nodded and followed Prem once he opened the door. The lovers stepped inside, went outside to the large garden and saw the others talking and laughing in the sunlight. When they all turned, they smiled and Sadhana and Preeti ran over to Priya, completely forgetting about her possibility of self harm.

"Hey baby sister." They both cooed. Sadhana and Preeti hugged Priya, which Priya returned, making the others, especially Prem, smile at the sisters bond. Sadhana kissed Priya's head softly.

"Hey, Jiji, Preeti Didi." She said sweetly, snuggling against them.

"How was the interview, Priya?" Rahul asked.

"Surprisingly it went well. I didn't break down or get scared." She replied sweetly with a smile, feeling Prem wrap an arm around her and bring her closer against him. He pressed a long, soft and passionate kiss against the right side of the top of her head,

"I'm so proud of you, my love, honestly." Everyone cooed as Priya rested her head against Prem's chest and placed a hand on it.

"We're all just as proud. See, we knew you could do this." Anjali said.

"That bitch will end in no time, Priya Jiji. You've got this." Simran said.

You will end in no time, because of everything you've done. Plus, what you saw today means something is coming for you - her daunting conscience said.

It reminded her of what she saw Bhagwanti and Ajay were up to, making her grow frightened and nervous. She knew something was coming for her. She felt it in her gut. This terrible feeling made her want to kill herself right now.

Or more like, cut.

But not right now, Priya thought. Prem and the others were here and they would get suspicious. And she just didn't want to be a buzz kill.

Amar and Neha gave Priya a certain look, like they were reading her deepest and darkest thoughts and fears. It made Priya feel scared and worried. No one, not even Prem, didn't know about her deepest secrets.

"You will end Rita and the people who have wronged you, Priya. Believe us, sunshine." Sangeeta said.

"Yes what you're doing will really help your mental state. You will be happy again, Priya, if you do what is right. Rita can't win against you." Vivek said.

Priya gave a small smile, before snuggling herself and her face against Prem's chest,

"I hope so." She mumbled sweetly, barely reaching a whisper, sounding like she was going to cry. The others identified this and grew worried. Prem knew what it was, but he didn't want to mention it yet because he didn't want to set Priya off.

Prem wrapped his arms around her and leaned down to kiss her head softly before rubbing her back.

"Priya, are you okay?" Sameer asked. Priya nodded, but deep down, she was feeling horribly scared. It was evident from the way she gripped Prem's shirt tightly.

Weak and pathetic as usual - her mind haunted her.

"I'm going to take her to the room. I think she's feeling a bit tired because she didn't get enough sleep." Prem said, which the others agreed on, still wondering why Priya felt so down.

Open up to Prem. He needs to know what is making you scared. Her heart told her.

Prem held Priya close, leading them up to her room. When they got in, Prem shut the door and Priya sat on her side of the bed. Prem drew the curtains to block the sunlight.  He sat by her side and said softly,

"You okay, Princess?" Priya was silent for a few minutes, not knowing how to put how she felt into words. Prem wrapped the grey blanket she always had on her for warmth and comfort in order to ease her into opening up to him.

"Prem, I'm just scared and frightened about what Mami Ji and Ajay have planned. There's always something bad coming up for me and I don't know what to do with myself anymore. I don't even deserve to live. That's how pathetic and worthless I am." She said, close to crying. Her bottom lip was trembling and eyes started watering.

Prem grabbed Priya closer to him against his body, where her head and arm rested against his chest. He wrapped the large pink blanket on them for Priya to feel closer and comfortable to him. He ran his hands through her beautiful hair and said softly,

"Don't ever underestimate how beautiful and amazing you are, my love. There's nothing to be scared about when I'm here. I'll always protect you, with my whole strength and life."

You're such a burden on him - her daunting conscience spoke.

"I know, jaan. But I feel like a burden to you. I know you hate it when I say that, but I'm such a weak and pathetic burden who doesn't deserve your love or you." Priya whimpered, snuggling against Prem closer for more warmth as her daunting conscience spoke.

"Priya, my Princess, please don't say that. I don't like it when you hate yourself like that because you are not a person to be hated at all. Remember what I said yesterday, there is absolutely nothing wrong or bad about you. Rita is just jealous of you and she's just trying to tear you apart. But you've got me and the others to protect you. Most importantly, you've got a heart full of gold and love that will help you gain courage." Prem comforted her softly.

He's absolutely right, Priya. Trust him. Her heart told her.

Priya looked up at Prem in curiosity. Her eyes looked up into his eyes, searching for any hint of lies. But there wasn't. Prem's eyes were full of truth, honesty, love, warmth and protection. He smiled loving down at her which she returned.

Priya leaned up slightly to seal her soft and sweet lips with Prem's warm ones in a passionate and loving kiss. Prem returned the kiss and they closed their eyes to move their lips in sync with each other. They kissed each other for a few seconds until they pulled away and Priya said sweetly,

"You're right. I really should stop hating myself because I've done nothing wrong to people." She rested her head on Prem's chest to close her eyes. Prem knew she wanted to sleep so he started stroking her head, while whispering her soft words,

"You never do anything wrong, Shona. You are the kindest and sweetest soul who has been gifted to me, which I will cherish and love you forever. You're the best thing that has ever happened to me and I never ever want to see you sad, hurt or in danger. The greatest thing you do for me is shower your love and make me and my heart smile every time."

Priya smiled cutely with sleep filled in her eyes,

"Why are you so sappy on me now?" Prem leaned down to nuzzle their noses together in an Eskimo kiss and replied,

"Only for you, my love." Priya pressed a soft kiss on Prem's lips before pulling away and closing her eyes on his chest.

Prem ran his fingers into her hair and slowly Priya fell asleep on his chest, snuggling against him cozily. He leaned down to press a soft and loving kiss on her forehead before placing her down on the bed with her head rested against her pillow. He wrapped the blanket cosily and once again kissed her head again before whispering softly, while caressing her cheek gently.

"I love you so much, my sweetheart. No matter what may come your way, I will always be by your side because that's where all I want to be." He leaned down kiss and smooch her cheek softly. He then lied down next to her and wrapped an arm around her torso to bring her closer and Priya snuggled against his chest.

The lovers fell into a deep nap for the rest of the afternoon. Priya needed sleep, and Prem thought it was best for him to stay with her.

7:00pm

Prem woke up and rubbed his eyes to get rid of the sleep. He looked down and saw a weight against his body which prevented him from moving. A fond and loving smile formed on his lips and he slowly moved Priya's body away from him and more to the side, making her stir and whine softly.

"Ssh Shona, it's okay. It's just me." He placed her down and she turned to the side to continue sleeping. He smiled and kissed her temple softly, "You continue sleeping, Princess."

A knock on the door made its way to Prem's ears and he said softly, to not wake Priya up,

"Come in."

The door opened and revealed his mother, the last person Prem expected to see. He had no emotion on his face.

"Prem beta, I need to speak to you." Mamta said in a nervous tone, making Prem raise one of his eyebrows.

"About?" He asked.

"I'll tell you in the room." Prem sighed, not bothered by anything, but whatever it was, he had to hear. So he nodded, left Priya and followed his mother to his parents' room.

Once the door was shut, there was silence lingering in the air, a tense and quite scary one. No words were exchanged. Prem's heart was beating hard in his rib cage, as if it knew something bad was going to happen.

"Why have you called me here, Maa?" He asked sternly and with slight anger in his voice.

Mamta looked up at her favourite son to meet his anger filled eyes.

"I needed to talk to you, beta." She said.

"That is?" He responded.

"First things first, how is Priya doing?" She asked. Prem raised one eyebrow, with confusion written on his face. Why did his mother ask about Priya? She made Priya's mental health worse by blaming her on what she was going through, so what was this about?

"Why do you suddenly care about how my Priya is doing, Maa? You never cared for her at all. You never cared about what she was going through." Prem defended.

The last two sentences made Prem's mother's heart pang. As harsh as it sounded, Prem said it because he knew it had to be said so his mother remembered what she did to Priya. He wasn't just going to forget what his mother said to Priya - she was bringing tension to the family and stress in his life. She should break up with him. She brought all the troubles in their relationship.

"Beta, that's not true. I do care about Priya. I-" Mamta started, but Prem interrupted harshly,

"Kya! No, don't say that because that's not true. May I remind that you blamed my Priya for everything she is going through. You told her she was bringing tension to the family and stress in my life. You told her our relationship is toxic and the best way forward is to break up with her." Prem demanded. "How could I forget that? I don't trust you, Maa." He said, full of anger and hostility.

"But you trust Priya?" Mamta asked in the same tone.

"Of course I do. I love her so much. Love includes trust." Prem answered firmly.

"And that's what almost led her to die in the bomb explosion."

"Do not mention that horrible event at all! That event was when I almost lost the love of my life because of my ignorance, not her! How dare you say something so inconsiderate!"

Mamta raised her hand and swiped it at Prem's cheek brutally, making him turn the other way. He placed his hand on his slapped cheek and looked at his angry mother,

"Don't you speak to me like that, young man! You think too much about that troublesome girl, thinking she's your everything, forgetting the other important people in your life. You've become so ignorant to everything else because you're blindly in love with that girl!" Mamta shouted in anger.

Prem looked at her in pure shock, not knowing who this woman was to him. Tears of anger and hurt gathered in his eyes.

"Troublesome? Ignorant? Blindly in love? What's wrong with you? Why are you so hateful towards my Priya? What's gotten into you! Why do you think of Priya like that?" Prem argued.

"I don't trust her. Neither should you." Prem's mother said, turning around.

"Kyun? Priya's and my relationship is based on trust and that's what our love is built upon." Prem said.

"So you think you know everything about her?" Mamta said.

"Well because of everything she's going through, she opens up to me so of course I know everything about her." Prem defended.

"So you don't know about Priya's self harm?" Mamta asked.

Prem's heart started beating so loud as if it would leap out of his chest. His world stopped. No words left his mouth.

Priya self harming? It was such an extreme thing to say. Of course Priya was suicidal, but he knew Priya wouldn't do something so extreme like that because that is torturous for her and she doesn't need it. It wasn't the way to go about her problems. If Priya was feeling really anxious, she would have told him.

But, what if she was self harming because Priya was at the height of her mental health problem and extremely suicidal. It wouldn't be the first time she tried killing herself. If Priya ever killed herself, Prem's heart would break and he would be shattered and devastated.

"Why would she ever try self harming, Maa? My Priya would never think of doing something like that because she doesn't deserve to die. Priya really and truly trusts me enough to help her through everything." Prem said angrily, with a crack in his voice because he was really hoping Priya was not self harming.

"How do you know she actually trusts you? You don't really know what goes on in her head because she keeps everything inside. Behind every smile has a different story. She really has brought stress in your life. I'm beginning to question her love for you." Mamta said.

"Priya loves me enough to share everything with me. I've always told her to trust me and not to harm herself. So, I find it hard to believe she's self harming if you didn't really help her situation." Prem responded, wiping his eyes.

"You're blinded by love to realise that she really is self-harming." Mamta said, full of hostility.

A scared, shocked, horrified and heartbroken whimper was heard and Prem and Mamta turned to see where it was heard.

Priya.

Priya stood there, with red eyes full of tears. Her mouth was covered with her hand in shock. She was covered with the grey blanket around her, making her look vulnerable and scared.

Whilst Mamta seemed unfazed that Priya heard, Prem felt his world crash and his heart shatter. Priya heard everything and that is not what he wanted. He felt awful that she heard everything.

But how did Priya feel? A lot more worse and horrible. Even more like a weak and pathetic person in Prem's life. Why did Prem's mother hate her so much?

You clearly are a weak and pathetic person and you don't deserve love or Prem. Now that your secret is out, Prem will leave you - her daunting conscience spoke.

Most importantly, Priya was shocked to say the most that Prem's mother exposed her deepest and darkest secret to Prem himself.

Her self harm.

Priya never wanted Prem or anyone to find out. It was her safety zone and no one understood how it felt to her. She needed it for control and to help her deal with her problems. Now that Prem and possibly the others found out, she knew things would go worse for her.
