Part - 6
This is an alternate scene from Episode 129 where Raghav and Pallavi are in jail. I always wanted to write an alternate to this track.
"Venkateshwara! Yhi din dekhna baaki reh gaya tha mera! Aur kuch choda hain kya dekhne ko Raghav?"
Jaya exclaimed furiously, slapping her forehead with a hand.
"Mujhe toh abh tak yakeen nhi ho raha hain ki tu aisa karegi Pallavi!"
Sharda said pinching the bridge of her nose in helpless frustration.
"Woh kehte hain naa Vahini, bacche bhagwan ka roop hotein hain. Magar lgta hain ki sirf ye hamare bacche shaitaan ka khirak leke aaye honge."
Milind said glaring at the duo standing sheepishly behind the bars. Raghav and Pallavi looked at Jaya, Sharda and Milind with apprehension and with the embarrassed fervour of five year olds caught steeling cookies from the jar red handed while the latter trio were glaring at their kids in disappointment.
"I always knew Raghav was an impulsive idiot but I had thought you had some degree of sense Pallavi. But looks like my useless son has started rubbing off on you a bit too much."
"Amma.."
"Shut up!"
Raghav looked aside almost pouting like a kid while Pallavi flushed a beetroot red unable to counter her mother in law's words cause in hindsight she had indeed behaved like a complete fool. But it wasn't her fault totally.
She always seemed to lose her mind when it came to her husband. The man had a dangerously volatile effect on her which she still did not know how to counter. Seeing him behind the bars, where she felt she could reach made her almost delirious in the mad desperation to get him out of there or join him inside.
And she had acted purely on instinct.
Which was a pretty stupid thing to do.
"No, Jayaji... this Pallavi always loses her mind when it comes to her family. She behaves like a self slaughtering idiot. I had thought Raghav was much more pragmatic than this. Taking someone else's blame for a capital crime and getting himself jailed before even knowing the entire truth of the matter."
"Aai..."
"Shut up!"
Now it was Pallavi's turn to pout and Raghav felt his cheekbones light up in flames hearing Sharda's frosty retort. Both their mothers looked incensed for the lack of a better word and both Raghav and Pallavi could slowly realised that maybe... just maybe they shouldn't have acted on their first impulse. They looked beseechingly at Milind hoping at least their uncle would save them from their mothers' wrath but to no avail as Milind stared back at them equally nonchalantly.
"Don't look at me. Pallavi, don't even think of advising me of acting rationally with Sulochana after your award winning antic. And you, Mr. I-am-The-Raghav Rao, if I ever hear about your 'I-am-born-smart' comment I while break your legs. Deva, what fools for kids you have bestowed upon us."
"I swear Milind... man toh kar raha hain lagau kheench ke dono ke kaan ke niche do acche se.. phir aayegi akal theekane."
"Main toh kehta hain laga hi dijiyega Sharda ji. Aur iss Raghav ko zor se lagana.. pata nhi shayad thoda dimaag track pe aajayein.."
"Haan, par ye Pallu kam nhi jaati hain.. zor se toh isko bhi padni chahiye ek.. sabka bhala karneka theka leke rakkha hain par dimag istemal nhi karna hain kabhi."
Farhad came in at that moment and saved the duo from getting flayed alive by Jaya, Sharda and Milind even if the news he brought was less than stellar.
"I am sorry Anna, Mr. Motwani is out of town and I tried the rest of his team but somehow everyone seems to be unavailable. I tried contacting some of the other firms but it was of no use."
Raghav slammed his hand against the bars frustrated and slightly frantic now.
"Farhad I don't care whom you have to bribe, whom you have to threaten or what you have to do, get Pallavi out now. With a bail or without, I don't care."
Pallavi glared at him immediately and crossed her arms defiantly against her chest.
"Not a chance. I am not leaving without you. Farhad! If the bail has to happen then do it for both and don't you dare threaten or bribe anyone! I am not coming out with the help of your Anna's Dongiri.."
"Oh hello Princess! You came in because you snatched a police officer's gun, threatened to shoot him and then fired in a police station. How in the Devil's name do you think you deserve to get all preachy? And please, stop living in your dream world and face the reality. Farhad! Pallavi should be out of here before evening."
"Farhad, you listen to me!"
"Farhad no! I am your boss!"
"Farhad! I am your boss's wife!"
"F--"
"Shut up!"
Farhad yelled finally shutting both of them up and surprisingly glared at them furiously. He looked immensely disappointed at both too which kind of made them feel slightly upset as well. Farhad was as much family as the Raos and the Deshmukhs were to both. So it was disheartening sensing his disregard.
"Aap dono ko toh museum mein hona chahiye. Itna atrangi jodi pehli baar dekha hain. Merese jo ho paega main karunga.. tab tak baithe rahiye dono chup chaap. Aur aap log bhi chaliye mere saath."
Jaya, Sharda and Milind nodded simultaneously looking immensely proud of Farhad and the way he had given both his Anna and Bhabi a well deserved scolding.
Raghav and Pallavi looked sadly as they all left together to find a solution to this new problem both had brought upon themselves.
"Happy are you now! See, even Farhad is mad at us."
Pallavi grumbled and sat down on the cemented seat in an almighty huff leaving her husband leaning against the opposite wall in exasperated rage as well.
"And whose fault is that? Had you cooked up this idiotic idea none of this would have happened. How are you so sure that this will work."
Pallavi gave him a cunning smile which he would deny till he is blue in the face did manage to scare him just a wee bit.
"I know it will. I have Sunny Ahuja's psyche quite well. He is a class A coward. The moment he hears the news that you have surrendered he will realise the case has opened and will turn tail and try to run."
"And you are sure, Keerti would go with him, leave me to rot in prison for her?"
"I am sorry Raghav, I know this will hurt you but the truth is that Keerti will always choose Sunny over you, till she realises his truth. She has been scarred at a very young age and had been left stewing in her misplaced hatred for you for far too long to see this in an objective perspective. She loves you... of that I am sure... but Sunny has had the chance to manipulate her when she needed someone at her corner. He had found her when she was most vulnerable. It is tough to see through the blindness which love creates."
Pallavi whispered lowly and felt a massive pang in her heart seeing Raghav valiantly struggle with his tears for some seconds before he composed himself successfully.
"Hmm... makes an odd amount of sense. But how are you even certain that it was Sunny? I had seen Keerti's face clearly that night."
"Because I know my friend. Keerti may have been successfully manipulated, she may be blinded in love but she is no murderer, she wouldn't run. Had it truly been her she would have stopped and checked on Mandar, called his family... she ran only because it was someone she loved who had done it. She is exactly like you in this case. She would have surrendered herself had you not taken the mantle... I am sure of it. But you did... conveniently for her and Sunny."
Raghav came and sat beside her and kept his hand over her's gently startling her in the process.
"Sometimes I wonder what you are made of Pallavi. How can you always find the best in people and focus on that? Even if the said people have only betrayed your trust time and again and hurt you every single instance it suited them. Are you even human."
Pallavi chuckled lightly and turned their hands to bring hers on top of his next and gripped his long fingers gracefully in her lithe ones.
"I am made of the same thing he is. A man who would stop at nothing to protect the people he considers family irrespective of the sheer pain they have always given him, irrespective of the heaped insults, irrespective of the humiliation and derogation. I am just as human as he is."
Raghav smiled at her faintly and she returned it with a tad more shine. Suddenly the moment broke when she winced audibly making him frown in concern immediately.
"What happened? Kya hua? Tum theek hain na? kahi lagi toh nhi? Kya zaroorat thi ye sab karne ka Pallavi seriously.. chot lag gayi kya tumhare ko? Picchi ammayi."
"Calm down Raghav, I am fine. Just.."
"Just what?"
"Nothing."
As if to contradict her statement immediately she almost bent over, face morphed in pain and he looked at her frantic with worry now. He held her shaking shoulders.
"Pallavi please bolo kya hua? Doctor ko kya.. Farhad! God's sake! Inspector! Come.."
"Raghav shhh! I am fine. It's just normal. Nothing major.. "
Raghav looked at her like she had grown a third eye and was about to retort something angrily at her seeming sudden descent into insanity, when she clutched her stomach and realisation cleared the storm clouds gathered on his face.
"Brilliant! And ye sab drama karne se pehle thoda apna condition ke bare mein bhi nhi socha? Cramps ho rahe hain kya? Medicine hain tera bag mein? Main bulayein kya female constable ko? Ye Farhad kab tak bail karwayega bewakoof."
Pallavi blushed but cut across Raghav's angry mumblings before he could create another chaos in the station.
"Raghav! Kisiko kuch karne ki zaroorat nhi hain. I am fine. I can bear this as I have for the last thirteen years of my life... so calm down. Nhi chahiye kuch bhi.. sirf thodi discomfort hoti hain.."
"Discomfort my foot. Pata hain mereko.. bewakoof samjha hain kya? Chehra dekha hain apna? Laash ki tarah safed ho gaya hain dard mein. Idhar aao abhi..."
"What are you doing?"
"Just come closer you idiot girl."
"Hey! Whom did you just call an idiot?"
"My neighbour."
"What?"
"Will you come closer or do you want me to drag you?"
Pallavi glared at him and dragged her achy body closer to him. Raghav almost plucked her from the seat and made her sit in between his legs, making her back fit against his chest perfectly and started massaging her lower stomach discreetly through the folds of her orange saree. They were cleverly hidden in the shadows so no one could clearly see them anyways.
All this happened in a second and Pallavi could hardly protest as when the first syllable which left her got stuck in her throat when a sudden relief seemed to overtake her cramping pain. It was like Raghav knew exactly where to put pressure and how to soothe the muscles so that her inner walls would relax.
It was strange to think that her husband would have such an innate talent of giving massages. So her protests died away with the strokes of his fingers and she almost melted into a puddle of goo caged inside him.
How she wished they were in their bedroom at the moment cause something else had started aching instead of her lower stomach at the moment. It was embarrassing but also exhilarating.
"Feel better?"
His throaty voice rumbling into her from his chest startled her into a hasty wakefulness as she had almost fallen asleep leaning against him comfortably.
"I think I might be a little in love with you Ghamandi Rao."
There was an ominous silence in the darkness following her playful confession before the sound of his hearty chuckles broke it cheerfully and when he spoke next, his words glided like hot chocolate in her stomach and settled inside it warmly.
"You are very welcome, my Saree Ka Dukaan."
