Summary:
Taehyung and Jimin's first meeting was disastrous, Taehyung was bleeding and Jimin was drenched in coffee.
They were yelling at each other when they noticed a thin red string connecting their pinky fingers.
Notes:
The two people connected by the red thread are destined lovers, regardless of place, time, or circumstances. This magical cord may stretch or tangle, but never break.
“Oof, what the hell man?! Watch where you're going, Didn’t you hear me scream ‘excuse me’?!” Taehyung yelled after he ran into his someone, the impact being too strong causing him to fall back, his hands being scraped in the process as he landed on the concrete ground. As he fell, his camera case flew temporarily causing him to panic, letting go of the cup of coffee his right hand was holding in the process. Luckily after he fell on the floor, he managed to catch his camera case.
“Ahh, it fucking burns!!” Jimin screamed as his thin sweater and pants got drenched in burning coffee. He bit his lip as he slapped away the half-empty cup that landed on his lap when he fell backwards due to the impact of Taehyung running into him, the remaining coffee in the cup spilled on the floor once he did.
A quiet whimper left Jimin’s lips as he looked down at his outfit. His pastel pink sweater was covered by an ugly brown stain and he felt as if his pants were shrinking around his thighs. What’s worse was that his skin was burning and it hurt so much, Jimin thought that blisters were forming on the part of his skin that got burnt by the coffee.
Between the two of them, Taehyung was the first to stand, his closed eyes opening when he felt pain on his palms, causing him to raise his hands. Blood was slowly trickling down his arm, coming from a wound that was caused by his hands being scraped against the ground.
“Oh shit…” Taehyung panicked, attempting to wipe away the blood trickling down his arms. He wiped his arms against his pants, ignoring the pain of abrasion as he continued to wipe away the blood, biting his bottom lip out of nervousness in the process.
While Taehyung continued to wipe away the blood from his arms, Jimin finally stood up, a hiss escaping his lips as his skin still burned. A frown appeared on his lips and he furrowed his brows as he glared at Taehyung, who also glared at him, hiding his bloody arms as best he could behind his camera case.
“You spilled coffee on me and ruined my sweater!! Why the hell were you running so fast in the first place?!” Jimin yelled, his expression absolutely furious as he looked down at his now stained sweater.
“Well I’m sorry then for ruining your sweater!! Didn’t you hear me when I screamed excuse me at you?! I at least was watching where I was going unlike you!! You weren’t even paying attention to your surroundings!!” Taehyung yelled back with just as much anger as Jimin had.
The two continued to yell, cursing at each other as they whined about their injuries.
“My skin is fucking burnt thanks to you!!” Jimin spat, his bottom lip slightly wobbling as he accidentally touched the burnt part of his skin. Taehyung could only roll his eyes as he showed Jimin his bloody arms.
“Oh yeah?! Well at least your arms aren’t fucking bleeding!!” Taehyung yelled back, a small smug smile appearing on his face when he heard Jimin gasp, thinking that he was the one who won their shouting match little argument. But before Taehyung could open his mouth once again—not to gloat—he noticed a red string around his pinky finger. His eyes followed the string and when he saw it around Jimin’s pinky finger, his breath hitched.
Their pinky fingers were connected by the same red string.
Both of them were now silent as they stared at the red string around each other’s fingers. Their eyes were wide and their mouths were agape, Jimin felt as if there was a lump in his throat preventing him from speaking.
“No way.” Taehyung mumbled quietly, but even so Jimin heard it causing him to look up and see the expression of disbelief on Taehyung’s face, his eyes staring at the red string as if he were in a trance. “There is no way that we are soulmates. I don’t want us to be soulmates.” Taehyung mumbled, a bit louder this time and it made Jimin want to cry.
That hurt. Taehyung’s words hurt more than his burn at that moment because he never expected that his soulmate wouldn’t want him. Jimin always dreamt of the day he finally meets his soulmate, the one he’s meant to be with, he dreamt of finally being able to hug and kiss his soulmate, to no longer be lonely.
A single tear left Jimin’s eyes as he sniffled quietly. He covered his face with his hands before running away from Taehyung, forgetting his bracelet that fell on the ground when Taehyung ran into him earlier.
When Jimin began running, Taehyung snapped out of the trance that was seemingly in. He began to panic, his heart was beating quickly and his breathing hitched.
“W-Wait!! Stop!!” Taehyung yelled for Jimin, his hand grabbing the bracelet on the ground when he realized that Jimin forgot about it. People from the sidelines eyed him and whispered about him, especially those who watched his earlier interaction with Jimin, but at that moment Taehyung didn’t care. He was now chasing after his soulmate, holding his bracelet alongside his camera case with a guilty expression.
A few tears trickled down Jimin’s cheeks as he ran but he quickly wiped them away with the sleeves of his sweater. He ignored the pain of his burning skin, he ignored the possible blisters forming on his arms and stomach, at that moment all that he could feel was his heart crumbling into a million pieces, the memory of Taehyung mumbling those hurtful words replaying in his head.
“There is no way that we are soulmates. I don’t want us to be soulmates.”
“//. I don’t want us to be soulmates.”
... I don’t want us to be soulmates.
Jimin eventually stopped running. He stood outside a flower shop, his hands covering his face as quiet cries left his lips, tears trickling down his cheeks, no longer bothering to wipe them away. He didn’t move at all, causing a few strangers to glare at him and curse him for blocking their way but Jimin didn’t care.
A sigh of relief left Taehyung’s lips when he saw Jimin standing in front of a flower shop, though he immediately frowned when he realized that Jimin was crying. He walked up to Jimin and back-hugged him, causing Jimin to gasp as he removed his hands from his face to see who hugged him. When he saw Taehyung hugging him, he at first wanted to push Taehyung away, but after a few more seconds, he just melted into the hug. He felt safe and comforted.
Taehyung wiped away Jimin’s tears, caressing Jimin’s cheeks softly as he did. A sniffle left Jimin’s lips as he hesitantly raised his hand to touch Taehyung’s, his fingers caressing Taehyung’s own. With the intention of cheering Jimin up, Taehyung curled all his fingers except for his pinky. Jimin didn’t know what Taehyung was doing but did the same thing with his hand, curling all his fingers except for his pinky. With a cheeky smile, Taehyung placed their pinkies beside each other.
“Your fingers are so small.” Taehyung teased, causing Jimin’s face to redden as he smacked away Taehyung’s hand out of embarrassment. “N-No it’s not!!” Jimin protested, releasing himself from Taehyung’s hug. A giggle left Taehyung’s lips, one that made Jimin giggle too after a while.
The two continued to giggle like children, but once they stopped, Jimin stared at Taehyung’s bleeding arms, his eyes showing concern for the pain Taehyung must have been feeling. Taehyung also stared at Jimin with concern, his eyes looking at his sweater that was obviously drenched in coffee, making him wince as he imagined how painful the burn Jimin must be feeling.
Their concern for each other led them to Taehyung’s apartment. Jimin was wrapping a bandage around Taehyung’s arm after wiping off the blood and cleaning his abrasions. Jimin was currently shirtless, the burn on his stomach and arms was covered in bandages thanks to Taehyung. Once Jimin was done bandaging Taehyung’s arms, he snuggled closer to him on the couch.
“Kim Taehyung.” Taehyung whispered, causing Jimin to raise a brow out of confusion. It took him a few seconds to realize that Taehyung just said his name, making him smile as he rested his head on Taehyung’s shoulder. “Park Jimin.”
A hum left Taehyung’s lips as he ran his fingers through Jimin’s hair.
“I’m sorry… I never meant to say those words, I just panicked. Our first meeting was what you can call disastrous.” Taehyung apologized, chuckling out the last sentence. Jimin nodded in agreements, his eyes staring at the bracelet on his wrist. He was so happy when Taehyung returned it to him, the bracelet was a gift from his mother and he would’ve been devastated if he lost it and never got it back.
“It’s fine, I understand.” Jimin said, intertwining his fingers with Taehyung’s. “I panicked too, and our first meeting really was disastrous…”
Taehyung kissed Jimin’s cheek before lowering his hand—the one currently running through Jimin’s hair—and wrapping it around Jimin’s shoulder. He then pressed his nose against Jimin, the two of them doing a short eskimo kiss.
“You are my soulmate, no matter what.” Taehyung said, causing Jimin to blush, a small smile appearing on his lips. Jimin was about to cry at that moment, but not tears of sadness, no, he was about to cry tears of joy.
“My soulmate…” Jimin whispered, allowing the tears to fall down his cheeks as he smiled widely at Taehyung who gently wiped them away.
"You single?"
"Y-yes"
"Then be mine, dear soulmate" Taehyung knelt in front of his other half who nodded, ready to shape their future together, for which they've waited for years.
