21. I Need to Know.

🌼a/n: heads up- I wrote whatever I can remember from this chapter's plot. My mom took my yellow pad papers that has the plot of the remaining chapters for Part 2. So please bear with me... 😅✌🏼 Also, I'm sorry if the GIF below will make you hungry.

3rd POV

"So it's the time of your month?" Dakyung asked for the nth time, making Maya groan in annoyance.

Then she looked at him and asked, "How many times do I have to explain it to you?"

The vampire sighed and raised his hand up. "Fine. I get it."

"Pizza is here!" Jaehyuck called out from the front door.

"Shit! Food!" Maya exclaimed with a smile on her face as she jumped off of the couch and into the kitchen.

Jaehyuck passed by the living room and into the kitchen where Maya grabbed the three boxes of pizza away from him. The eldest of the group almost fell backward from the sudden appearance of the female guardian. He took a breath in then out as he found his balance again.

"You okay?" Bora asked him as she placed the bottles of cola on the kitchen island.

"Ah, yeah, I'm okay," Jaehyuck replied back while faking a cough.

The 17-year-old vampire giggled making Jaehyuck bite the insides of his mouth. Then Keni and Soobin showed up with Haruto right behind them.

"I heard that the pizza is here," Keni said as she walked over to Maya.

"Can't you see the three boxes of pizza?" Maya sassed, earning a glare from her best friend which shut her up.

"Before we eat, how about we talk about the heir-" Bora stopped all of a sudden when an older girl came walking inside the kitchen from the back door.

"Maya, you're home," the older girl exclaimed making Maya roll her eyes.

Then Dakyung entered the kitchen and stopped in his tracks. "Oh, noona?" He called out to the older girl who smiled at him which Maya clenched her fists.

"Unnie, I thought you were busy with your work?" Keni asked after whispering to Maya to calm down.

Maya's older sister faced Keni and was surprised to see her.

"Ah, Keni-ssi. You're here, too. I finished my work for today. How are Sungkyung and Bomin doing? I heard that Sungkyung and the other Vampires with the Water Element as their gift had a hard time putting the fire out at the school. I hope they're okay."

"They're at home, resting," Keni answered with a small grin.

Then Maya's older sister waved at the others as her greeting and walked to the other side of the kitchen to the hallway.

But before leaving the group to themselves, she turned around and said to Dakyung, "I'll be up in my room sleeping. Make sure that the guests won't be too noisy. Oh, and it was nice seeing you, Dakyung-ssi. You grew taller the last time I saw."

Dakyung faked a laugh and nodded his head. "I'll make sure to keep the guests away from your room."

Then Maya's older sister left and Keni sighed in relief as she hid the cutting knife away from her best friend.

"Um, who was that?" Soobin asked after a few seconds of silence.

"That was Maya's sister," Jaehyuck answered him since Keni was too busy calming Maya down and Dakyung closing the doors to the kitchen.

Then Haruto poked the arms of the two older boys. "Can we eat now? I'm hungry..."

"Does Maya dislike her older sister?" Bora asked Dakyung as they both prepared the glasses for their friends.

Dakyung chuckled and shook his head. "She doesn't dislike her old sister. They just don't get along since their grandparents focus more on Maya."

"Because she's the youngest?"

"Something like that."

Then the two returned back to the group who are now digging into their lunch. They both gave everyone a glass and started to eat as well. Maya was finally back to her old self as she finished her second slice of pepperoni pizza.

"M, slow down," Keni called out from the other side of the kitchen island.

Maya stuck her tongue out at her and took her third slice right away.

"We're still young, K~! We should eat whatever we want! Also, I promised Sungkyung unnie and Bomin oppa that I would fatten you up while you're here."

The taller guardian glared at her best friend and was about to tell her to shut up but Soobin took her glass and poured some of the soda in it.

"Here," he said as he handed the glass back to her.

Keni smiled at the small gesture and took a sip before hearing Bora's question.

"Since we have the Kim family's heirloom, who is going to keep it?"

"Do we have to talk about that now?" Haruto asked after eating his fourth slice of cheese pizza.

Bora sighed and added in, "We have to at least come up with a plan if ever Vivien- I mean, Ruth, realizes that her family's heirloom isn't with her anymore."

Keni placed her glass of soda back on the kitchen island and said, "I'll keep it for now. If anything happens, I'll hand it to Soobin. Then he'll hand it to Ruto, who will hand it to Jaehyuck then to you, Bora, and lastly to Dakyung and Maya."

"But how do we pass it on to the next person?" Soobin asked finding a flaw in the plan.

Then Jaehyuck spoke up, "The shed behind the school. There's a good hiding spot for the heirloom. If anything bad happens one person should hide it there until the next person can watch over it."

"I guess that can work for now," Keni pointed out, then she took the heirloom out from her jacket's pocket. "Once we get back to the Academy, we have to be careful now that we know who Vivien is."

"You said that you remember everything," Soobin said as we both walked to the rooftop of the Yoon's house. "Since when did you regain your lost memories?"

Keni looked over at him as she placed sat down on the edge of the rooftop.

"My memories of us were never lost, Soobin. It was just... locked away in the back of my mind. But yes, I remember everything. Although some of my memories are still blurry, I know that you are in it."

Soobin sat down beside her and asked, "How do you know that I'm in it if you can't see the memory clearly?"

The female guardian softly gave him a teasing smile and answered, "Because my heart says so."

Soobin chuckled and looked at the view in front of them. Then he whispered, "It's the Soulmate connection that told you. Even when your mind says that it's not real, your heart believes that it is..."

"I don't need the Soulmate connection to tell me if it's real or not," Keni whispered back with a shrug.

"Oh? Why is that?"

"Because I can tell if someone would lie to me."

"You have that kind of talent?"

"It's not exactly a talent. I was trained to know if my Vampire would lie to me. Especially since Jisung's gift is manipulating minds. I was able to see and sense his lies."

"So you felt it deep down that Jisung was lying to you when your memories of us were locked away?"

Keni nodded her head and Soobin ended up sighing in relief which made her softly laugh.

"What? Where you that scared of losing me, Soobin?" She asked him with another teasing smile.

But that teasing smile soon turned into a surprised one when Soobin replied back.

"Yes. I was scared of losing you."

"Bin, I may not remember some of our memories clearly, but I will soon. So don't ever feel scared or hopeless, okay?"

Soobin smiled and nodded his head. "Okay."

It's been an hour since the two Soulmates spent their afternoon on the rooftop. The two talked about their times in the library, garden and what they both must have been thinking about when their group of friends saw them together. Then in the middle of their conversation, Keni remembered the fear simulator.

"Soobin... Do you still remember that one class where I and some Guardians had to go through a fear simulation?"

The male vampire froze on his spot as he remembered how cold Keni was when he held her in his arms and how her heart had stopped beating in that one minute. He thought that he had almost lost her but she came back to him right after he spoke to her.

"That memory should be locked away in the back of your mind," He said after saying that he remembers it. "I hate that Professor Nam. She made you go through something that no one should have seen and heard."

"But Soobin... that was not my fear," Keni exclaimed slowly after biting her bottom lip.

The 18-year-old vampire then looked back at her with a confused expression. "What do you mean, Keni?"

"Seeing Yeji being killed in front of me? That is not my fear," she answered this time with a firm tone.

Then she stood up all of a sudden, making Soobin follow her and asking with a worried voice, "Keni, what are you thinking about now?"

"I can't remember the whole thing," She said, dodging Soobin's question. "But I need to... I need to know what I saw during the Fear Simulation."

"No!" Soobin said right away. "Absolutely not. You almost died due to the Fear Simulation. I cannot let you go through that again."

Keni shook her head. "I need to know, Bin."

"And how are you going to do that?"

"The only person who I know who can go through my mind is-"

"Jisung."

The two looked at each other and Soobin sighed in defeat.

"Are you sure about doing this?" He asked her as she gently took his hand into hers.

Keni nodded and smiled at him. "I am sure about this. It can help us figure out what had happened that night when Yeji was killed."

"So when are we going to your place?" Soobin asked with a teasing grin.

The guardian raised her left eyebrow at him in surprise and asked, "We? You're coming with me?"

"What did you think I was going to just let you go to Jisung alone?" He asked in disbelief which made her laugh out loud.

Then Keni tilted her head as she looked at him and asked, "Are you... jealous?"

Soobin sighed again. "I am not jealous of your vampire."

"Mhmm..." She hummed teasingly which Soobin mentally groaned.

Keni believed him but she continued to tease her other half since it makes her feel like... her old self before her mind was manipulated.

Maybe... Just maybe being with Soobin won't be that bad. Right?

"You stole the car didn't you?" Soobin asked as Keni drove out of the Yoon's garage and out into the street.

Keni nervously laughed and said, "I left a note for Maya's older sister. Plus, Maya won't care if her older sister's car goes missing."

Soobin chuckled on the shotgun seat. "But Dakyung would care."

"Pfft! Maybe~!" Keni joked as she stepped on the gas, making the car speed up past the speed limit.

"When did you learn how to drive?" The vampire asked as he grabbed on the sides of the seat.

Keni looked at him and back at the road before answering, "Bomin taught me and Jisung last summer. Why?"

This time Soobin nervously laughed and shook his head. "N-nothing! Just wanted to know since you... you seem confident- AHHHHH! WATCH OUT! OLD LADY! OLD LADY AT 12 O'CLOCK!"

Keni soon stepped on the brake and the car halted to a stop as the old lady walked across the street in front of them, not even noticing that she could have gotten hit by a speeding car.

"Okay... Um... Soobin?" Keni called out as she decided to just tell him the truth.

Soobin looked over at her and forced a small smile. "Y-yes?"

"Bomin never taught me how to drive last summer," she slowly explained to which Soobin gave her an 'are-you-kidding-me' look. "I mean, I was in the back seat as Bomin taught Jisung..."

Then Soobin took his seatbelt off and said, "I'm driving starting from today on. If we're going out on dates in the future or need to just use the car for an important event, then I am driving."

Keni softly laughed at that and took her seatbelt off.  Then the two got out of the car and switched seats. Once Soobin got in the driver's seat, Keni asked him if he got to learn how to drive, too.

"My older sister, Soohye, taught me two years ago," He answered smoothly as he started to drive.

"Did you get your license?" Keni asked since she wanted to know more about Soobin.

Soobin looked at her with a small smile and answered, "I got it before the school year started, but this is my first time behind the wheel after... you know."

Then it became quiet as the two thought of Song Yeji again.

"Bin, we will know the truth soon," Keni whispered as she placed her hand on his right hand that is on the gear shift. "Just hang in there."

"Keni, you're at the manor?" Bomin asked from the other line.

Then Keni replied back, "Yup! I came over to get my pillow since you know, um, I can't sleep properly without it."

Keni heard the older guardian chuckle before saying, "Okay. Well, Sungkyung and I are out shopping for some ingredients for dinner. Jisung should be in the old hangout. Would you like me to tell Butler Moon that you're at the manor?"

"Oh! That's not needed, oppa!" Keni exclaimed right away.

Then the two exchanged a short goodbye before Keni hanged up. She looked over at Soobin and the two sighed in relief.

"Bomin oppa said that Jisung should be at our old hangout," Keni told him as they both entered the big house of the Oh Family.

"So you grew up here," Soobin said as he looked around him.

Keni smiled. "Yeah, that's right."

Then Soobin stopped in front of a family portrait. He softly smiled when he saw a younger version of Keni. But then his eyes saw another girl aside from Keni and Sungkyung standing beside the younger Jisung.

"That's Jikyung." Keni's voice whispered out as she stood beside Soobin. "She was Jisung's twin sister."

Soobin looked at Keni and asked, "Was? What happened to her?"

Keni bit her bottom lip and was going to change the topic but they both heard Jisung's voice behind them.

"She died when we were 7 years old," Jisung answered as he walked over to the two but stopped a few feet away.

Then Soobin and Keni turned around to face Jisung who right away asked, "What's he doing here?"

"Jisung, we- I need your help," Keni said, ignoring his question.

The dark-haired vampire looked at his guardian and he furrowed his eyebrows as he asked what kind of help.

"I need you to get into my head and tap into one of my memories," Keni explained, making Jisung shake his head.

"The last time I did that, I broke our promise of manipulating your memories," He said afterward which made Soobin clench his teeth together.

Then Jisung looked over at the purple-haired vampire and said, "I doubt that it was you who told her to do this."

"I tried to stop her," Soobin said, his tone of voice changing.

"Well, I'm not doing it again," Jisung exclaimed as he turned around but Keni stopped him before he could walk away.

"Please, Jisung! Help me out here. I need to see this memory a little clearer."

Jisung sighed out loud and slightly turned his head to the side. "What's so important about this memory?"

"Because it's connected to Yeji's death."

🌼a/n:

I feel sleepy as I wrote this chapter. So I am sorry for any grammatical errors or typos.

Everyone, we are nearing the end of PART 2. There are only three more chapters left before we start with PART 3 which is the last part for Vladimir's Academy. 🥺😭 But before we end VA, there will be the Special Chapters- they are not connected to the main story but these chapters are for the characters who didn't get any or enough screentime! I've got one in the drafts and it'll be out after I finish Chapter 22. 🧡

I also noticed some plotholes that I am trying to fix haha so updates for VA will be a little slower once I finish PART 2.
