" Oh now, holding this pain,

Like the day I abandoned everything...

It grows more painful every day,

Endlessly in front of my eyes, deja vu. "

- Dreamcatcher's Deja Vu

- Lee Keni

It was so quiet. No one inside the car dared to speak up.

All I can hear are the raindrops hitting on the windows of the car, the deep sighs coming from Bomin from the shotgun seat, the tapping fingernails of the youngest Oh sibling, who is sitting beside me on my right, and the eldest Oh sibling's phone's keyboard sounds from my left side. The silence was killing me, and I bet everyone else in the car are going crazy on the inside. I wanted to say something, but then the car came to a halt and our driver, Mr. Jo, spoke up.

"We've made it to the gates of the Academy," he announced as we all look out of the windows on our right side.

It's been one month since the holiday break started and 4 days since Song Yeji was found dead inside the Dark Forest behind the academy. I can still clearly remember when Sungkyung came running inside the study back in the Oh Manor. She had a shocked expression on her face and her eyes were shaking in fear. She was the one who told me and the boys that Guardian Yeji just died and that her body was burnt.

Everyone knows that once a body of a Guardian is burnt, it can never be resurrected as a human. Once a Fallen Angel's child dies from the touch of Fire, they are forbidden to come back to the Living World. They will forever be a Lost Soul since they've failed their mission to protect their Vampire, and that left me, Bomin, and the rest of the other Guardians, who are still in training, shaking both in fear for our safety and Vampires' protection and anger that one of our kin was just killed in a brutal way.

I have always admired Song Yeji for her hard work and persistent personality. She always knew what to do and didn't falter or given up during her first years in the academy since she was a Rare Blood. Not many vampires from the Royal and High Blood likes anyone who has a mixed-blood of a Guardian and Vampire. They say it's because it is dirty and sinful, but I do not believe that. If it was forbidden by Mother Lilith then why has she not done anything to keep it from ever happening?

Song Yeji deserved more than this.

She deserved to be by her Vampire's side and live her life.

But no, she just had to die and never ever get to fall in love, marry, have a family and raise her children to continue her own legacy.

I will never ever forget the Guardian who left a huge impact on me and my fellow Guardians-In-Training. She's the ideal Guardian and whoever killed her, I will make sure to burn the killer's body as well.

"It just had to rain today," Bomin first said when we all got out of the car.

Then the rain stopped out of nowhere, or so I thought...

"Being the Keeper of Water has its perks," Sungkyung proudly said as she winked at us, but then the mood from the car welcomed us back as we saw the black dresses and suits entering the academy.

"It is not the time to be using your gifts," a voice hissed from our right side.

All four of us turned our heads to see who it was and saw Kang Jaehyuck holding a black umbrella above his head. He had on a nicely tailored black suit with a matching tie that has a beautiful crescent-shaped moon pin with a small jade-colored flower on its side, which could be a family heirloom of his.

"Don't you think it's a little too early for your bossy attitude?" Jisung asked, getting protective of his older sister.

Jaehyuck, another 5th Year Guardian just like Bomin, sighed and shook his head while saying, "I'm just simply stating that using a gift before a funeral is a disrespectful act in the eyes of the Dead."

Then Bomin joined in, "Yeah, we got it, Jaehyuck. Don't worry about it."

The Guardian of Shin Hyosung then nodded his head at his fellow Guardian and walked through the gates of our academy.

"Sungkyung, it's alright. I've got an umbrella here," Bomin said to his Vampire as he showed the see-through umbrella once Jaehyuck was out of earshot.

Then the older girl looked at me and Jisung with a frown. "But what about Jisung and Keni?" She asked in worry.

"We can just run," Jisung replied back, not even thinking twice about what he said.

I had to hit the back of his head while rolling my eyes at him.

"I'm wearing a dress, you idiot," I spoke up, earning a scowl from my Vampire-slash-best-guy-friend.

Then Bomin handed the umbrella to Jisung and explained, "Take this. We all know how Keni can easily catch a cold, especially in this kind of weather."

"What about you and Sungkyung unnie?" I asked with a raised left eyebrow.

Bomin sighed. "It looks like we'll be using Sungkyung's gifts for now... Yeji would understand."

The last part got me shaking that I had to hold onto Jisung's arm for support. The male vampire gave me a worried look, but I just sent back a small smile and he nodded his head. Then he opened the umbrella while the older two had already walked through the gates.

- 3rd POV

Keni was happy to see her other friends and classmates, but she knew that she shouldn't show it when Yeji's picture is right in front of her, laying on top of the closed casket. She wanted to show to everyone that she is a strong person who doesn't need any pity, but as the young 18-year-old stood in front of the picture of her dead friend, she had lost her senses and all she could feel is the sadness that Song Yeji's death had brought upon everyone.

Jisung saw Keni's expression and teary eyes. He knew how much Yeji had meant to his Guardian-To-Be. Song Yeji was every young Guardian-In-Training's idol and because of the biased belief of Rare Bloods being a sin and a disgrace to both kin was almost broken. But now that she is gone and won't be able to be reincarnated, Yeji will just be another student of Vladimir Academy who almost left a mark in their history book.

Sungkyung felt like throwing up when she saw the closed casket and smelt the burned flesh of Yeji. She wanted to leave, but she can't and won't.

"Not, yet," she told to herself as she stood in between Bomin and Keni.

Bomin sighed again, but this time he sounded... angry? Sungkyung heard it very well and so did Jisung, who is busy placing his arm around Keni's shoulder for support. All four of them had their own connection to Song Yeji. Actually, many Vampires and Guardians had a connection to her.

Small or big.

Friends or enemies.

Classmates or teachers.

Everyone in the Main Hall was thinking the same thing.

"Song Yeji didn't deserve to die."

"I can still smell her burnt flesh," Noah Kim whispered while dramatically pinching her nose.

Shin Hanuel looked at her fellow Vampire and sighed. "Can you try not to be so dramatic today?" She whispered back while clasping her hands tightly together.

"I'm not being dramatic, Idiot," Noah exclaimed, annoyed that the other girl pointed out her little mistake.

Hanuel didn't bother to reply back to the Keeper of the Earth Element, and not because of the so-called nickname, but because something had caught her eyes. She instantly felt the room becoming colder than before when Park Soobin had walked inside the Main Hall with a black velvet suit and a matching tie. The outfit hugged his body perfectly and left a huge impression on everyone for a few seconds, but then some guy from the 5th Year walked over to him with a disgusted look on his face.

"How dare you show your face here?" The guy hissed, his once golden-red eyes had turned a darker shade of red.

Soobin gave him a glance from the guy's shoes to his eyes. It was like the 18-year-old Vampire was tempting the guy to continue on, but before a fight could start, Bomin and Jaehyuck showed up.

"Enough, Daichi," Bomin spoke up as he stood in between the two vampires.

Then Jaehyuck joined in, "The Headmistress will be here in two minutes. I doubt that you two would like to be expelled on a day like this. So, Daichi, get back to your chair and..." The 20-year-old stopped and looked over at Yeji's Vampire before continuing on. "Soobin, your chair is in the front. You should pay your respects now before the ceremony would start."

Soobin gave one last look at Watashi Daichi before walking down the side aisle in the Main Hall and to the front where his dead Guardian's body is waiting for him.

Everyone watched him, but he didn't give them the attention they wanted. He just focused on the picture of his only friend and Guardian. He finally reached the closed casket and stood two feet away from where Keni is at. The young 3rd Year Guardian saw him at the last minute since she was too occupied with her own thoughts to have seen the grand entrance of Park Soobin, the Keeper of the Fire Element.

She wondered about how he felt and what he was thinking. She kept her eyes on him while everyone had gone back to their own business. Jisung was about to tell her that he and Sungkyung are going to take their seats, but he saw his Guardian staring at the outcast of the academy. He gave her a worried look and decided not to disturb her. He knows deep down on how curious Keni can be and if anyone distracts her from her thoughts, she would get angry at the person.

"What about Keni-" Jisung cuts Sungkyung off by shushing her off and pushing her to their chairs which are also in the front but on the left side of the Main Hall.

Soobin finally felt the eyes off of him, except for the one beside him. He looked away from Yeji's picture and saw two, soft, brown orbs staring back at his golden-red ones. For a few seconds, the Vampire and Guardian-in-Training stayed silent, but then Shin Jaxon's voice broke their little connection by announcing that the Headmistress has arrived in the Main Hall. Keni blushed in embarrassment and shortly bowed her head as an apology before walking away to where her siblings are at. Soobin sighed before walking to where his chair is at and when he sat down, he wondered about Keni and why she was looking at him like... like she cared.

The Headmistress walked in and everyone stood up and bowed when seeing her. Rosie Baek was seen walking behind Headmistress Lee with the other three members of the academy's online vlog, Hall of Fame. All of the students who don't follow the online vlog were wondering why Lim Taehee, Kang Joon, and Seo Younghoon were with the Headmistress and Rosie, while those students who saw Joon's post about Yeji's burnt body found behind the academy, kept quiet and looked away from the group that walked in.

"I would like to thank you all for sacrificing your last day of the holiday break," Lee Jieun, the Headmistress of Vladimir Academy Seoul, spoke up once she stood in front of the student body and professors and parents. "I would also want to properly apologize for not doing a better job as your Headmistress in protecting a student of Vladimir Academy. Right now as we speak, the Royal Court and a few of your parents are investigating the murder of Song Yeji."

The silence was filled in the Main Hall when Headmistress Lee decided to stop her speech after saying Yeji's name. Then she continued on after one minute and everyone who was close to Yeji had to hold back their tears. Soobin clenched his fists together to keep himself from showing his vulnerable side. Keni bit her bottom lip while Jisung had his arm wrapped around her shoulders again for support. Sungkyung had to close her eyes and whisper to herself that it was alright. Bomin worriedly looked at his Vampire and Junior Guardian while sighing for the nth time that morning.

Yoon Minjung, who is a close friend of the Rare Blood, couldn't look at anyone's face. She wished that she was with Yeji on the night of her murder then maybe she would have been able to save her friend. But unfortunately, she wasn't in hers and Yeji's dorm to have seen the other girl leaving the academy. She wondered why Yeji had even left the academy and went to the Dark Forest late at night. Was Yeji meeting up with someone?

Jaehyuck was quiet as he sat with his Vampire, Hyosung. Not many knew about him being friends with Yeji, and now he wished that everyone knew. Unlike his father who was against Rare Bloods, Jaehyuck doesn't believe that Guardians with Vampire blood is that bad. He got to see the good in Yeji and that was enough for him to not believe in that biased image of Rare Bloods being a sin. Now, that Yeji is gone, he wonders who will pave the way for the future Guardians who comes from the same bloodline as hers.

Roh Yebin held her expression well. She was friends with Yeji back then when Yebin's parents didn't know about Yeji's bloodline. Yebin knew that it was a terrible thing to do to unfriend someone due to their family background and parents' actions, but Yebin couldn't taint her family's name as High Blood. So she did what she had to do. But then Yeji called her that night. If only Yebin answered the call then maybe Yebin would have known something about how and why Yeji was murdered.

Park Leela couldn't help but cry right on her chair. For once in her 19 years of life, she couldn't hold back her emotions. The good and bad memories with her old friend passed through her mind as she tried to stop her tears, but it didn't work. She can still remember laughing with Yebin and Yeji while helping the younger girl with her gift of talking to animals. It was her favorite memory with her two closest friends, but it now has turned into her least favorite when she looked over at Yebin and saw the girl had no expression on her face. Leela wished that she could turn back her time to that day Yebin had made her choose between her and Yeji.

Lee Bora watched as the Royal, High, and Normal Blood either cried or solemnly looked away from the closed casket in the front of the Main Hall. The young 17-year-old New Blood vampire wasn't that close with the dead Guardian, but because her adopted mother (aka the Headmistress) is a family friend of the Song's, Bora was able to spend her holiday break with Yeji, Rose, and the other few students who stayed behind in the academy. She remembered clearly how Yeji tried to talk to her and left a huge impression on Bora which almost made the mysterious new girl open up to the 5th Year Guardian. But then Yeji's death spread like wildfire the next morning. She tried her best to recall anything suspicious from that night, but nothing came to her mind.

Watanabe Haruto sat beside his roommate, Soobin, and felt terrible for his older friend. Haruto wasn't as close to Yeji as Soobin was, but he respected the dead Guardian more than himself. Yeji was like his older sister as he stayed in a foreign country for almost two years. He even joked about having Yeji as his Guardian, which would make Soobin glare at him coldly, but deep down the two boys were laughing to themselves while Yeji shook her head at the two. Now, that Yeji is gone, it's Haruto's job to be a good friend to Soobin and be there when the older boy needs someone to talk to. After all, he knows very well what it is like to be afraid of being left alone.

"Today we will all say our last goodbye to Guardian Song Yeji. Many of you may not be that close to her, while others may have been a special someone to her. Let us all please stand up and bow to a young Guardian who will forever be in our memories and hearts. Song Yeji, if you can still hear me, you can let go now and rest in peace. We will do our best to take care of the things you've left behind in the Living World. As your Headmistress, I will do a better job of protecting my students. But as your mother's friend, I will do my best to give you the peace you need..."

The speech ended and everyone stood up once again.

Then the Guardians from the 1st to 5th Year all spoke up...

"We all live in our present. We dare not to look behind us. And we do our best for our future until our time is fulfilled."

"We protect our Vampires. We protect our future."

Then the Vampires from ages 16 to 20 joined in next...

"Together we will bring forth the High King's dreams and turn them into reality."

"We are the hope and light for a better tomorrow."

And lastly, the Headmistress continued on.

"And our choices will be our swords in a fight."

Then everyone looked over at Song Yeji's picture and bowed as their last goodbye to the young Guardian.

"Until my last breath, for now, I will patiently wait until I get to see you again, noona," Soobin thought to himself as he closed his eyes and bowed to his dead Guardian and friend.
