- 3RD POV

The young Vampire and Guardian quietly walked down the stairs to the girls' dormitory. They both were still a little awkward after the misunderstanding they both had with Haruto in the library. Keni just wanted to go to sleep and not remember that embarrassing memory once she wakes up later on. She could still remember Soobin's arms wrapped around her waist and before that she could still feel the warmth of his bread when she had hugged him after waking up from her bad dream. The way he whispered to her made her feel calm back in the library, but now as she recalls the new memory she started to feel hot. She sharply took a deep breathe in as she tried to stop herself from blushing.

Then there's Soobin who was blushing madly by himself as he tried to calm down. Memories from the library with Keni, even the ones before that embarrassing moment by the windows, would flash through his mind as he walked down the hallway with her. He remembers stealing glances at her while she was reading the theory book about Soul Mates with a serious look on her face. He couldn't help but to smile at how cute she looked. If he wasn't a Vampire, then he would have kissed her right there and then. But he knows that it's forbidden to fall in love with a Guardian.

Soobin sighed while Keni was blowing her hot breath on her hands since she started to feel cold out of nowhere. The two continued to walk down the stairs and then into a hallway that would bring them to the girls' dormitory. Soon enough the two found the silence between them soothing and for a minute or two their worries no longer existed.

"Um, this is my room," Keni finally spoke up, breaking the silence.

The two stopped walking and stood in front of a wooden door that has two initials on it.

"K and M. Keni and Maya?" Soobin guessed, smiling at the cute decorations on the wooden door.

"It was Maya's idea, okay?" Keni exclaimed, blushing in embarrassment.

Then Soobin turned his head to face her. "I'm not teasing you," He told her with a soft smile.

Keni looked at him and saw him smiling at her again. She hoped that he wouldn't be able to hear how fast her heart was beating, but also at the same time she wished that he would. Whatever she was feeling early in the morning was something new for her and it was making her feel nervous and happy. She even wondered if Soobin felt the same way.

"So, I'll keep the research book and Beautiful Creatures for now," Soobin spoke up, bringing Keni back to reality.

She nodded her head at him and said, "And I'll keep the two book of theories and the book of legends."

The two continued to stand in front of the door to Keni's room. Their bodies and faces facing each other while their eyes were lost in the other one's. Then just when Soobin was going to ask her something, the door suddenly swung open and a worried, messy-haired Yoon Maya stood on the other side.

"It's past 3 in the morning! I was going crazy back here-" Maya's voice rings out into the hallway, making both Keni and Soobin worry since they were scared that Maya might wake up the other girls nearby. But then Maya stopped midway in her sentence when seeing the male Vampire and softly greeted, "Oh, hello, Soobin..."

The tall Vampire chuckled and greeted her back. "Hello, Maya. I'm sorry for keeping Keni for too long. Please, don't get angry at her. I, uh, fell asleep earlier in the library and I think Keni didn't want to wake me up."

Maya's eyes went wide and nodded her head. "Right! Sorry, then my bad!" Then she shut the door and said from inside the room," Go on! Continue with what you two were going to do!"

Keni blushed in embarrassment and shied away from Soobin who was already looking at her while chuckling.

"Maya is quite a supporter," Soobin teased, but deep down he meant it.

"S-shut up, Park S-soobin!" Keni stuttered while taking the three books that she will keep for the time being. "She's j-just jo-joking around!"

Then she opened the door and walked inside. But before closing the door, she quickly said a goodbye and goodnight to a smiling Soobin. Then the door closed and Soobin chuckled again. "Cute."

- Lee Keni's POV

Keni fell asleep right away after washing up and once her head hit her pillow she was already off to dream land again.

"Lee Keni? The adopted daughter of Judge Oh?" Librarian Seo asked in surprise when seeing me.

"Yes, good afternoon! That's correct!" I replied back with a smile.

Then Librarian Seo softly laughed and asked, "How can I help you, Ms. Oh?"

"Actually, I'm here to volunteer. Um, Professor Min told me that you need some help in just stacking the borrowed books back to their respective shelves, and since I haven't chosen a club, yet, I decided to try out the volunteer work."

"Are you sure you want to do volunteer work in this library?" Librarian Seo asked after looking at me for a few more seconds.

I nodded my head with a big smile and then I said, "I'll make sure to keep the food out of the library if I see anyone with snacks or drinks brought with them."

Then Librarian Seo clasped her hands together. "Wow! Professor Min sure knows how to choose good volunteer workers! Alrighty then, you can actually start today if you don't have any classes."

My eyes went wide and I hugged the librarian who yelped in surprise, but in a second the hug was returned back with a warm laugh. Then I pulled away and promised her that I wouldn't mess anything up. And my volunteer work in the library as a First Year started.

It was around 4 in the afternoon when I just finished checking the books on the second floor if they're all in their right shelves. I smiled as I finished the last part of my volunteer work, but my smile faded when I saw a mysterious person sitting on a chair by a small table near the windows on the second floor. Curiosity got the best of me as I quietly walked to the mysterious person and hid behind a bookshelf.

I instantly saw the front cover of the book that they are reading and whispered to myself, "Beautiful Creatures? What kind of story is in there?"

Then the person closed the book and stood up. I quickly hid behind the pillar next to the bookshelf and watched as they walked down the stairs to the first floor of the library and left through the main entrance/exit. A few days later, I saw the same person reading the same book at the same table again. This has been happening for almost a month now and then one day, the person stopped visiting the library and because of this I decided to go look for that book they keep reading over and over again. I couldn't find it on the second floor where the fiction and non-fiction stories are at. After looking around the second floor, I checked the first floor but couldn't find it in the fiction and non-fiction extension. Until one day when I stumbled upon a history book that was lying on the ground next to its shelf on the first floor. I picked it up and was about to place it back on its respective spot on the book shelf when I saw the book that the mysterious person had been reading for almost a month. I quickly took it and checked the description on its back cover and was surprised to find out that the story was a work of fiction.

"Why were you placed in the historical section of the library?"

"KENI! SERIOUSLY! WAKE UP! WE'RE GOING TO MISS PSYCHOLOGY SCIENCE TODAY AND THE GUEST PROFESSOR!"

I opened my eyes and gasped when I felt a pillow had hit my face. I hurriedly sat up and glared at Maya who was also glaring back at me.

"Finally!" She exclaimed, totally annoyed. "Next time if you're going to have a date and not come back till later at 3 in the morning, then do tell me in advance!"

Then Maya left our room, leaving me behind on my bed as I tried to remember what I had dreamed about. Then I realized that it wasn't a dream, but a memory.

"Why did I dream about the book and that person?" I muttered under my breath before hearing Maya screaming at me again from outside in the hallway.

I sighed at her impatience and got out of bed. I didn't bother to fold my blanket since it was already past 8 in the morning. I hurriedly got ready and changed into my school's uniform, but today I decided to leave my cardigan and blazer behind. Then I tied my hair up in a messy bun while grabbing my shoulder bag. I opened the door right away and saw Maya waiting with Minjung and Chaewon.

I was going to ask them why they were waiting together and realized that our Psychology Science class is a joint class with all Guardians in the Top 8. I greeted my two other friends and sent an apologetic look at Maya, who sighed and handed me a cup of coffee that could have come from Minjung since she had a bottle of coffee with her. I took a sip and didn't complain after burning my tongue and mouth.

Then Minjung asked, "Are you girls ready for Pscyh Sci?"

"Heh, no, obviously!" Chaewon answered, making all three of us laughed at her.

We all started to walk down the hallway to meet up with our fellow Guardians. But while my friends were talking about what the Guest Professor would be teaching us in today's joint class, my mind was far away from their topic. I was trying to remember the story in Beautiful Creatures and wondered what was so special about that book. It kept popping up in front of me since I started doing my volunteer work at the library when I was a First Year. Then after I read the book, it disappeared for many weeks which then turned into months and then a year passed and the next thing I know I see Song Yeji reading it in the Dining Hall for a couple of days. Then it disappeared. Another year passed and I saw the book in Soobin's hand two nights ago. Then just recently Librarian Seo gave it to us for our so-called SoulMate research paper.

Then I realized something when my friends greeted Bomin, Jaehyuck, Doyoung and Joseong.

The two main characters from Beautiful Creatures also shared a connection just like Soobin and I. But what does that even mean?

The eight Guardians entered the big classroom that looked kind of like a classroom in a Harry Potter film. There are two sides each with three rows of chairs and tables facing each other. The teacher's table was placed on a platform and instead of it looking like a normal table that you'd see in a normal classroom, the table looked like the ones you'd see in a court. It looked just like a judge's table in my opinion. Then right in the middle of the classroom is a metal chair with a black pillow built on it's header. Then I noticed wires sticking out from a helmet that is laying down on a seat of the metal chair. Its wires were connected to a weird looking machine behind the metal chair. We all looked at each other in confusion as we stood a few feet away from the mysterious machines, metal chair and helmet.

Then Professor Ko, our all-around Science teacher from physics to chem to biology to earth science to the human body and lastly to one's mental health, greeted us with a warm and exciting smile on his face. We all greeted him back and then a woman in her early 30's walked out from Vladimir knew where and Professor Ko spoke up again.

"Children, I would like you all to meet our class's Guest Professor. Please, welcome Professor Nam from the Daegu branch!"

- 3RD POV

Park Soobin woke up around 9 AM and didn't bother to get ready since he doesn't have any morning classes. So to kill time, he decided to finish reading the books from last night. He opened the research book about what his ancestors had found out about Soul Mates so far. He skipped the parts that he already tackled from the night before and is now reading the symptoms of having a Soulmate. After reading an intro of the new chapter in the research book, he soon found out some similarities of the Soul Mates' connection to what he and Keni felt through their connection. He also finds out that only one or two couples after every 100 years happens to be Soul Mates. He then started to compare the connection he feels with Keni to the Soul Mates' connection, and noticed that half of the symptoms are the same to what they're feeling.

1. One can feel if the other is in danger.

2. While the other one can feel if his or her Soul Mate is around.

3. One can sense their Soulmate when he or she is in their weakest or strongest state.

4. One can talk to their Soul Mates through a link if both share the same blood origin.

5. One can heal their Soul Mates if both share the same blood origin.

Both are stronger when they're together. Especially, when in a fight.

With the new information, the 18-year-old Vampire picked up the three books and grabbed a random jacket from his closet and then ran out of his room. Soobin needed to tell Keni about what he found out from one of the books of theories. He made sure not to bump into anyone as he ran down the hallways and staircases. But when he took a sharp turn down the first floor's corridor, he bumped into someone and ended up dropping one of the books on the floor. Soobin almost fell backwards but he was able to find his balance. He then looked at who he had bumped into and saw a girl who looks to be around his age. Her crystal blue eyes pierced into his golden red eyes. He soon realized who the girl was and his once soft facial expression that he got used to using around Keni turned into a cold one.

"Soobin, right?" Vivien asked as she picked up the book, Beautiful Creatures, from the floor after she and Soobin had bumped into each other in the hallway.

Soobin looked at her and nodded his head. "Hm, yeah." He then grabbed the book from the new girl and when he was about to walk away he heard something he didn't expect to hear.

"Ruby said hi, by the way."

"What did you say?" Soobin asked as he stood in front of Vivien, who gave him a confused look.

Then she answered back with an innocent smile, "Oh, I was asking if you're okay. You almost tripped when I bumped into you earlier."

The younger Vampire felt like something was wrong with the new girl. Like everything about her doesn't feel... real. Then he felt the connection between him and Keni and knew right away that she was in trouble. So he excused himself from the new girl and started to run where the connection was pulling him to.

"Pathetic," Viven whispered as she watched Park Soobin disappear in the crowd of students.

Six guardians had just finished experiencing the Fear Simulator that Professor Nam had brought with her for them to know and overcome their fears. So far they all were able to survive the Fear Simulator, all except for Chaewon who at the age of 17 was too pure to have experienced such a difficult task. But at least she didn't end up fainting. Next after Chaewon happened to be Keni's. Since she was the last one everyone paid more attention since no one knew what Keni was afraid of the most in the world. Sure, they all know that she despises spiders, cockroaches and lizards because of a traumatic experience she had when she was little, but everyone in the room also knows that her fear towards those three would only stay for a few minutes and not her whole life.

"Again, reminder, it isn't real, okay?" Professor Nam explained to Keni as she lied down on the metal chair with the helmet on her head. "Whatever you see is just a hallucination that comes from the machine and helmet, and you can't do anything since you're just an audience to what is happening. Now, close your eyes and take deep breaths in and then out."

Keni did what she was told to do and relaxed out of nowhere when she heard the familiar sounds of Sungkyung's violin playing.

Then Keni opens her eyes and sees herself inside the Oh Manor. She sees the christmas decorations from the holidays on the walls and sides of the staircase. Then she hears the violin version of Silent Night being played outside the manor. Keni opens the front door and walks outside. Keni couldn't see anything thanks to the fog but after a few seconds, she soon sees the entrance to the Dark Forest. She soon realizes that she was at the back of the Academy. Keni then hears a voice calling for help and sees Rose running out of the Dark Forest back to the Academy with tear-stained cheeks. Keni watches as the older Vampire calls for help but doesn't see or hear anyone from the Academy coming in to help Rose. Then Keni hears the violin again and follows it inside the Dark Forest. After walking for two more minutes, she hears another voice that she thought she would never hear again.

"Unnie?" She calls out as she follows the voice. "Yeji unnie?"

Everyone in the classroom froze in their spots when they heard Keni calling for Song Yeji. They all looked at each other in shock and then Bomin stepped up while saying, "Pull her out."

Professor Ko wasn't in the classroom since he was called in by the Headmistress a few minutes before Keni's turn. So he wasn't there to stop whatever would happen next.

"Sorry but Ms. Lee hasn't even reached the Fear Point," Professor Nam exclaimed after pushing a random button on the machine's board. The Guardians who saw that noticed that Professor Nam didn't do that to any of them, but to Keni.

"What do you think you're doing, Professor Nam?" Minjung asked as she started to get suspicious of their Guest Professor.

Then Keni started to scream.

The hairs on the Guardians' bodies went up at the sudden scream from their friend. Then Keni started to whimper and cry on the metal chair.

"Someone pull her out!" Chaewon said, scared for her older friend after all heard the heart monitor from the machine's board sounding different.

Keni's eyes went wide when she was screaming. She saw someone cutting Yeji's body in half and it made her want to vomit. Then she starts to cry when she sees Yeji's still eyes looking at her. Keni then ran to the person who just murdered her friend-like-older-sister. She couldn't see the face of the person since her eyesight was blurred from her tears and because the person was actually faceless. She screams at the murderer telling him or her to leave Yeji alone, but the murderer couldn't hear her. She then remembers that this wasn't real, but a hallucination.

Then she heard his voice.

She looked around the forest to see where Soobin was at but she couldn't find him. Then Yeji and her murderer disappeared and so did the tall trees of the forest. Everything around her started to disappear at a fast speed and then all went white.

"Keni!" Soobin called out as he ran inside the classroom.

The seven other Guardians were all down on their knees screaming in pain as Professor Nam used her gift (Pain Illusion) against them. Soobin saw what was happening and had to use his gift even if he hated using it. A small ball of fire appeared in both of his hands after placing the three books down on a nearby table.

"HEY!" He shouted at Professor Nam, who smirked at him. "LET THEM GO!"

"If it isn't Park Soojeong's only son. How are you Soobin? Do you miss your daddy?" She taunted with a menacing laugh.

Soobin's eyes glowed a darker red as his gift started to take over. "SHUT UP!" He shouted, his anger evident.

He then threw the ball of fire towards Professor Nam. It hit her shoulder and she cried in pain. Due to the lack of focus, Professor Nam's gift lost its touch on the young Guardians. Then Soobin ran to the middle of the classroom and saw Keni crying in anger and fear. His fists clenched when seeing this and then he turned his head to look at the Guest Professor who is trying to escape through the now broken windows, but before she could jump, one of the Guardians used a whip and caught one of Professor Nam's ankles and pulled her back to the middle of the classroom.

"Where do you think you're going?" Maya hissed as she unwrapped her whip (which was once a bracelet around her left arm).

Then Bomin and Jaehyuck held Professor Nam down to the floor while Doyoung, Joseong and Minjung went to the machine's board. They were trying to remember which button it was to stop the Fear Simulator. Chaewon, who was ordered by Jaehyuck, had left the classroom to call for their teachers or at least someone who could help them out. Keni was still on the metal chair and Soobin's anger subsided but it was exchanged with worry and panic.

"She stopped moving!" Joseong exclaimed when he saw his classmate just lying down on the metal chair.

"Soobin! Check if she's still breathing!" Bomin ordered while Jaehyuck started asking Professor Nam on how to shut the machine down, but the Guest Professor was just laughing nonstop.

Soobin did what Bomin had ordered him to do. He checked if Keni was still breathing and then shook his head at Maya who shouted, "SOMEONE DO SOMETHING! KENI ISN'T BREATHING!"

Everyone had then stopped with what they were doing after hearing what Maya just shouted. The only sound that could be heard was Professor Nam's laughter and the sound of the wind outside. Then Chaewon came running back inside the classroom with Headmistress Lee and Professor Ko behind her. Professor Min and a couple of vampires joined in right after and everyone was shocked to see the messy classroom.

Soobin couldn't take it in anymore. He conjured another ball of fire, but this time it was bigger and hotter than the first. He then shoots it at the machine. Minjung, Doyoung and Joseong had to jump to the side as the machine slightly exploded and caused the water sprinklers from above their heads to go off. Water was soon welcoming everyone in the room as Soobin took the helmet off of Keni's head. Minjung saw how desperate Soobin looked. Doyoung saw the pain sketched on Soobin's face. Joseong saw a heartbroken Vampire. Bomin and Jaehyuck didn't have the energy to scold Soobin for using his gift. Then there was Maya who is now standing on Keni's other side while crying out loud.

Dakyung, who was one of the Vampires that Chaewon had asked for help with Professor Min and a couple of other Vampires, ran to Maya's side and hugged her. The 18-year-old Guardian cried on her Vampire's shoulder. Then Soobin touched Keni's cheek and whispered, "Come back, Keni. Please... You can't leave now. We still have to figure out what kind of connection we have. Please, come back. I still haven't even told you my stories and secrets. I still have to tell you about my sisters and mother. I still have to share my embarrassing stories with you. So, please, don't go. Come back to us... Come back to me..."

Then the vibe in the classroom changed. The water from the sprinklers stopped in mid-air. The people around Soobin and Keni had stopped, too.

And a bright light appears around them.

"Soobin?" Keni called out in a soft voice.
