"I'm sorry, but I have to go."
Everyone at the table watched as Keni stood up and took Soobin's hand then quickly left the Dining Hall. I was surprised at what just happened, so I looked over at Maya who continued to eat her blueberry pancakes. "Um, are you not worried about your best friend running off with THE Park Soobin?" I quietly asked her. Then Maya looked over at me, making me nervously gulp down my saliva as I saw her hazel brown eyes staring right back at me. "No, not really," she answered back, earning a confused expression from me and everyone at the table, except for Vivien who is busy drinking her glass of water.
I sighed at this and started to wonder how Keni and Soobin became... friends. Are they even friends to begin with? Or, is there something else going on between the two?
"There is nothing going on between them," Kiera spoke up, making all of us around the table look at her in surprise and even more confusion. Then she looked at me and repeated herself. "H-how did you... did you read my mind or something?" I asked her.
Then Bora spoke up, saying, "I apologize on my behalf. Kiera just found out about her gift last night. She's telepathic. She can read anyone's mind and vice versa."
To those near our table, I can hear them whispering to themselves already spreading the news about Jung Kiera's gift.
"That's wicked!" Maya exclaimed with a surprised smile on her face. Oh, dear Mother Lilith, please help me...
Then Maya looked over at me and asked, "What were you even thinking about, Kyung?"
"Um... Just wondering about Keni and Soobin. Like, are they friends, or something-" I was cut off right before I could end my sentence by a loud thud on the table.
I was shocked to see an angry Jisung and knew right away that I should have kept my mouth shut. Sangmin quickly tried to calm him down, but it was no use. Oh Jisung's possessiveness is showing very clearly and I think I just made a death wish.
"They are not friends. They are nothing more than students in this messed up academy," Jisung started with clenched fists. He raised his voice for everyone in Dining Hall to hear: "There is absolutely nothing happening between my Guardian and the Outcast. So, if I hear some stupid rumors about them spreading around the school's corridors or in the dormitories or classrooms, then you better pray to Mother Lilith and the High King that you won't wake up one day in St. Luke's Mental Hospital!"
Then the whole place went quiet.
"And never mess with a Mind Keeper," a soft voice whispered in my head. I quickly looked back at Kiera who smiled at me innocently. I sighed and looked away back at my food, but my appetite no longer existed.

"And there goes Romeo and Juliet," I whispered under my breath as I finished another sandwich after watching Soobin run from his seat to Keni's table, the two leaving the Dinging Hall hand in hand.
"Are you okay, Jae?" Hyosung called out to his old Guardian.
I looked over at the two and saw Jaehyuck sighing to himself and rubbing his temples. The older Guardian shook his head and spoke up, saying: "I just... I just can't keep up with Soobin. He's all over the place."
I softly laughed at the last part of his sentence, making everyone at the table look at me. I blushed in embarrassment and smiled at them. "Sorry if that sounded rude. I just find it funny for a bit."
"Hey, Haruto, you're Soobin's roommate," Hyosung pointed out. Then he added in, "You should know his schedule, right? Or the places he'd go to when he doesn't have any classes?"
"That's right," I answered, making Hyosung sigh in relief. But when I continued on, he frowned. "But I can't tell you. That's Soobin Hyung's privacy. You should ask him yourself if you're that curious."

Jaehyuck couldn't believe what he just heard. He suddenly threw his bread knife across the Dining Hall, almost hitting Noah's head if it wasn't for Hanuel, who pushed the Keeper of Air back down to her chair. Noah literally had another dramatic fit after finding out what just happened. But the girls at her table made sure to keep her in her place.
Then Bomin spoke up, "Look, Jaehyuck, if you want to get closer to Soobin, then you should at least talk to him. Don't just follow him around when you see him. It's... It's unnatural and not professional."
Jaehyuck raised his eyebrow at Bomin and retorted, "Unnatural? Professional? Oh, please! You're the one to talk to! What about you? Do you know what your precious Vampire has been up to these past few days?"
"Hey! Watch your mouth, Kang! Leave Sungkyung out of this!"
"Then don't try to butt into my Guardian business!"
"Excuse me? I'm trying to help you out here!"
"Help? Are you helping me? As if! You're only doing this for attention and good credit like always!"
Bomin just had it. He stood up and was about to flip the table, but Sungkyung and Hyosung got the two Guardians to stop by using their gifts on them. Oh Sungkyung lifted the liquids from their table to splash itself on Bomin's face to bring him back to reality, while Shin Hyosung did the same thing, except since his gift side was more unto the Natural Disasters, his Water Element gift got Jaehyuck soaking wet from head to toe.
"Oh man... Jae, mate, I'm sorry-" Hyosung bit his bottom lip when his old Guardian gave him a death glare to shut him up.
Then Bomin called out to him. "Maybe if you aren't so stubborn and so full of yourself, then you would see just how many people are willing to help you out." And then the first ranker left the Dining Hall with Jaxon and Sungkyung, leaving everyone else on a cliffhanger.
Jaehyuck huffed in irritation and decided to leave as well. He didn't need to hear the other students' opinions and new rumors. He just wants to go back to sleep and wake up from a nightmare and see Yeji walking around the corridors looking for Soobin like she always does. But he knew that even if he woke up, it wouldn't be a dream. He's really Park Soobin's new Guardian whether he likes it or not, and Yeji entrusted him to protect her Vampire.
He slowly looks at the pin on his tie and sighed, "Why me out of all the Guardians, Yeji?"

Keni and Soobin are currently eating their sandwiches that they got from the school's Kitchen. It was quiet for a few more minutes in the school's garden, then Soobin faked a cough after taking a sip from the bottle of iced tea. Keni looked over at the tall boy and softly laughed.
"It was so quiet," she spoke up, breaking the silence in the air.
Soobin grinned and said, "Perks for eating in a garden."
Then Keni looked at her sandwich in worry. "You know... We are not supposed to even eat in here."
"So, you don't want to talk?" Soobin teased, making Keni glare at him.
She continued on, "It's not like that, Park. I'm just worried that I might get another demerit for eating in the school's garden."
Keni currently has 65 demerits from the class disruption and violence that her classmates and 4th Years did. She would have had more if Headmistress Lee didn't deduct the first batch of demerits to five demerits each. Keni was grateful for that, but now that she is currently breaking another school rule, aka eating inside the school's garden - which is a beautiful two-floored greenhouse where the vampires who have Earth Element as their gift would practice their powers - she couldn't help but think negatively about how her school year would end.
"Hey..." Soobin called out softly, making Keni suddenly melt at his voice. "If anything happens, I'm here. The teachers and students would instantly think that I dragged you here. So, if they're giving out demerits for us breaking the school rule, then I'll take your demerits."
"That's... That's absurd," Keni honestly said, making Soobin laugh out loud.
"How is that absurd?" He asked her while wiping off the bread crumbs off of his face.
Keni sighed and answered, "That all of the teachers and students think of you that badly."
"What you don't think they do?"
Keni shook her head, making Soobin look at her with an expression like he was trying to figure out what chess piece to move next.
"You really are different from the others," he finally told her.
"I just grew up differently," she exclaimed, shifting to her seat that was near some flower pots.
The purple haired boy raised his eyebrow at her in a questioning way. "Then why is Jisung a total prick?"
Keni bit her bottom lip from laughing. She wasn't surprised that Soobin would call her Vampire a 'prick', but she still found it funny. Soobin saw her trying to stop herself from laughing and knew right away that even if Keni was Jisung's Guardian, she'd still have her limits. It doesn't matter if she is Jisung's Guardian, best friend or adopted sister. Keni still has her own choices in life. And that made Soobin even more curious about her.
"Jisung hangs out with a lot more people than I do," Keni explained with a small shrug. "He spends more time outside while I spend my time inside a library or my adopted father's study. Unlike the Oh siblings and Bomin oppa, who are more interested in the politics and traditions of the past, I like to think of the possibilities for the future and to be open minded about it. I honestly hate how most Vampires and Guardians would think badly of Rare Bloods. I also hate it when someone would bully others due to their family background or the status ranking in society. I mean, why can't we all just accept each other for who we are? This is how the Civil War started. The two opposites do not agree with one another and if the other side doesn't step down then they would turn to violence just to get what they want. I don't really think that violence is the answer to all of our problems. Not unless it has something to do with our survival."
Then Soobin gently spoke up, "You almost lost me back there, but don't worry I caught on."
Keni glared at him for a few seconds, but then the two started to laugh. After another minute had passed, the two calmed down and then Soobin finally asked her about Yeji.
"Keni... How did you and Yeji become friends?"

"Keni... How did you and Yeji become friends?" Soobin asked, making me feel a little dizzy.
Then I looked away from Soobin for a few seconds before answering him.
"She found me one day... Actually, our first conversation happened right here in the greenhouse," I whispered while trying to fight back the tears.
"You mean right here? Where are we sitting right now?" Soobin asked in surprise.
I chuckled and looked back at him. Then I nodded my head and said, "Yeah. That's right."
Soobin suddenly smiled. "Thanks, Keni."
"Um, for what?"
"For bringing me here."
I bit my bottom lip from blushing, but I was too late to stop it. My face must be so red right now that it made Soobin worry about me.
"Are you okay, Keni?" He quickly asked as he stood up and ran to my front where he kneeled down so that his face could reach my height. "How are you feeling? Do you feel cold? Do you feel dizzy?"
His questions were making me feel queasy. Then I snapped, "Please, stop talking if you don't want me to feel dizzy!"
Soobin looked a little taken aback, but he understood right away and apologized. Then he started to laugh by himself as he sat down beside me, and not back on his chair. "Anyways, would you tell me what you and Yeji did? Like, I know it's none of my business, but I just want to know what she was like with other people."
I looked over at him and smiled. "Of course, I would love to tell you anything about Yeji."
Time passed as we chatted about Song Yeji. I didn't tell Soobin about my gift though. Yeji told me not to tell him just yet. At first, I wondered why, and now I know the answer. Soobin misses her that badly. I can see it now. He doesn't show it that much in public. I guess Yeji thought of her future and its possible realities. She must have planned something before that night to have said something like that to me.
"Great, now I'm curious," I muttered under my breath.
"Hm? Curious about what?" Soobin asked, making me mentally facepalm myself.
"Nothing... I just... I was just thinking out loud," I answered back with a sheepish grin.
Soobin shook his head at me while smiling. Then his expression changed and he cleared his throat with shaky eyes. "Um, I'm quite curious about something..."
"Yeah? What is it?" I asked after finishing my bottle of iced tea.
Then he looks at me and continues on, "...That tingling feeling. Do you know what it is?"
This time my eyes were shaking. I looked around the greenhouse, trying to avoid Soobin's golden red eyes, but I always end up looking back at him.
I spoke up, "I honestly don't know."
Soobin nodded his head. "Same. But I think... I don't know if it's connected, but it couldn't be a coincidence."
"What do you mean?" I asked, getting confused.
Soobin continued, "I think the connection that we are feeling these past few days has something to do with Yeji and her death."
I furrowed my eyebrows while I tried to understand his words. Then my eyes went wide and suddenly slapped Soobin's right arm, earning a groan from the tall Vampire.
"Oh, sorry, Binnie!" I quickly called out while gently patting his shoulder, forgetting about the new topic.
Then I stopped and Soobin looked at me with a surprise look. I then looked away from him and faked a cough just like how he did earlier.
"Binnie? So, we are calling each other by nicknames now?" He started to tease me. "Hmm... What do you think of me calling you... Nini ?"
This time I looked at him in surprise and once again I slapped his right shoulder. Soobin yelped in pain and then I said, "I'm not five years old, Soobin!"
"Well, you started it!" Soobin chuckled while clutching his right shoulder.
I rolled my eyes at him and just as I was about to stand up. A deep voice from behind us spoke up, making me and Soobin fall off from the long chair. Then we both looked up and saw Professor Min, looking at us weirdly.
"What are you two doing here in the greenhouse during class hours?" He asked while Soobin helped me.
Then I gasped, "C-class hours? It's already 8:30 am?"
"It's 10:56 in the morning, Ms. Lee," Professor Min corrected. "Now, please, explain to me why you are not in your classes? I hope you didn't skip because if you did, I don't think Headmistress Lee will deduct demerits for you again."
"It's my fault, Professor!" Soobin said as he stood in front of me.
"Oh, and why is that your fault, Mr. Park?" Professor Min asked while looking at me and Soobin in a... weird way.
Then it hit me. Professor Min is just messing with us. That old rat.
"Uh... Well, I... I dragged Keni out of the Dining Hall and forced her to eat with me in the greenhouse. Yeah, that's right!" Soobin lied, real smoothly. Not.
Did I ever say that Soobin is a terrible liar? The poor boy can't even lie to save his own life.
Then the middle-aged professor started to laugh out loud, making Soobin look at him in confusion and worry. Then Soobin looked at me and mouthed, "What is going on?" But all I did was shrug at him and wonder to myself, "How did I end up having a crackhead of a professor?"
"Okay, I'm sorry, but Mr. Park, you really can't lie, can you?" Professor Min asked after he calmed down.
"Wait, what?" Soobin still didn't get it.
Then I stood beside him and said, "Professor Min is just messing with us, Soobin. Don't mind him."
"Yes, please don't mind me. I'm just a middle-aged man, and not a professor of the academy you're both studying and living in," Professor Min added with sarcasm laced in his sentence.
I literally just gave up right there. But Soobin still looked anxious and Professor Min saw it.
"Ah, my boy, please I'm not here to tattletale you on two," he told Soobin with a gentle smile. "I totally understand how toxic your fellow classmates can be. But maybe next time try not to eat in the greenhouse."
"Ha! I told you!" I quickly spoke up, this time slapping Soobin's left shoulder.
"Yah! Can you stop doing that!" Soobin complained as he rubbed the sore spot.
I innocently smiled at him while Professor Min chuckled at us. Then we heard the bell from the clock tower, signalling that it's 8:30. "Now, it's time for you two to go to your class."
Soobin and I sighed while getting our empty bottles and walking past Professor Min. But then I stopped and faced him. "So, you are not really going to tell us?" I asked while squinting my eyes at him.
"It won't hurt one bit to break the rules sometimes," Professor Min answered.
I smiled at him and bowed my head in return. Then Soobin and I started to walk out of the greenhouse and back inside the school. We both stayed quiet until we reached the back door to my classroom.
I raised my left eyebrow after noticing something.
"Did you just walk me to my classroom?" I asked the purple-haired vampire.
Soobin scratched the back of his neck and chuckled nervously. "If you don't like it, then I'm so-" But I cut him off by raising my right hand, ready to slap him again. He stopped and then I said, "Don't apologize. It's nice of you to walk me to my classroom. That even makes the rumors about you being bad a total lie."
Soobin smiled at that and then he leaned down to my height and whispered in my ear, "We still didn't get to talk about Beautiful Creatures."
I blushed at the closeness and the warmth of his breath, but this time I made sure that he wouldn't see it. Soobin pulled away and I suggested, "How about we do the book review in the library after school..? And no more snacks or drinks. I really don't want to get another demerit."
"You, um, don't have any plans later after school?" Soobin asked in surprise.
Then I mentally facepalmed myself again. I literally just forgot about the girls' night out.
"I have one, but I think I can get out of it for tonight," I answered while thinking of how I can break the news to Maya and the others.
"Alright. Library at 7 pm then?"
I nodded. "7 pm."
Then Soobin patted the top of my head, making me widen my eyes in shock. Before I could say anything, Soobin had already walked away.
"Park Soobin... The things you do to me..." I muttered under my breath as I walked inside the classroom.
But maybe I made a mistake in walking inside a room full of curious Guardians.
Because the next thing that I know everyone is asking me about Soobin and our relationship with each other.
