Chapter 7
Okay, first its due to ALey_x that I updated. You know what comment that was. I dont know why, but it made my night :)
Second, the opening the beer trick on the counter is something i learned because of glass cola bottles, where you put the ledge of the counter right under the cap and hit the top with your hand so it pops open. I did it to my dads drink at a family party once because we couldn't find the opener and I will forever regret it because now everyone accuses me of drinking behind my parents back.
Third, this is long, Thank you for still being here-- I still get comments on this after all these years and it makes me so happy. I will try my best to continue, but I'm almost twenty and I really don't know if ill hit this sense of humor the way I used to. But I hope ya'll enjoy anyway!
[direct cont from last chap, so you might wanna read that first]
Tim rolled his eyes. "I spend plenty of time at home." He crossed his arms.
Stephanie groaned, sliding back down to the floor and walking right up to Tim. "But you're always on the computer." She smushed his cheeks, "I need attention!!!"
"He's just working hard, spoiler," Dick sighed. He traded Terry for the beer in Jason's hand and opened it on the counter, but just held it in his hands. A pout graced his features-- and Artemis be damned but it was cute. "And work is more important than us."
"Dick, thas na true," Tim groaned, but Stephanie's grip proved stronger than Tim and he mumbled the words through the fish shape Steph was forcing his lips into. "I jus don wan pepol a die."
Jason took the beer back, intensifying Dick's pout. "Well, Ohana means family, and family means fuck everyone else so we'll leave the team to Dami, yeah?"
There was a crash somewhere in the distance, and something that sounded notably like a cry for help. Artemis was sure those were suspicious and possibly demon-like sounds, but the only one who had any reaction was Tim who could do nothing more than stare at the doorway with large eyes since Stephanie's smushing has only grown stronger. Steph turned to Jason in nothing short of shocked offence, Tim's head being pulled with her.
"That is the one quote you don't mess up Jason! They are sacred holy words and you are blasphemizing them!!!"
Tim's sounds of distress and frantic pointing were lost to everyone but Artemis because of the bickering. Artemis was tempted to continue to listen to the conversation, too, but she really likes her team, and while the batfamily was entertaining and refreshingly hard-headed, she had higher moral grounds than allowing her team to be brutally murdered by a turtle-eating demon baby.
As much as she knew she wanted to face this alone and leave this family here, she knew she needed backup. She may have learned to live Gotham crazy, but that was day to day, gang and school Gotham crazy. This family was on another playing ground. She grabbed dick's hand and dragged him out of the room.

PAGE BREAK ANNOUNCEMENT I ADDED AN OLD CHAPTER I SOMEHOW SKIPPED ITS LABELED "THE REAL CHAPTER 6"
=============================
"Damian! "
Dick's squeal was nothing short of a mother's, and he ran to hug the boy with such excitement and energy that Artemis felt second hand rejection when the boy elbowed Dick in the stomach and sent him to the floor on his knees.
"I've warned you before," The boy sneered-- actually, legitimately sneered, "I will not succumb to such immature acts of affection. You are my brother, act with the dignity of an Ibn al Xu'ffasch."
"Gesundheit," Bart answered, pulling Artemis out of the surprisingly normal interaction (comparatively) and towards the rest of the room. They were in the common area again. There wasn't anything noticeably wrong, though Artemis's trained mind caught the wide eyed shock on Bart's face, the small splash of blood on the ceiling and the eerily quiet atmosphere that had been screaming cries for help only moments before Artemis had entered the room. The only other person there was Jaime looking too green to be healthy.
Dick got up, a smile somehow still plastered on his face despite the internal bleeding Damian's sharp elbow was sure to cause. He koala hugged Damian, who suffered through it without murdering limbs this time, and then released him with satisfaction on his face that spoke of the rarity of such a moment.
"Okay," Dick said, "What did you do?"
Damian scoffed. He glanced at Bart, briefly and inconspicuously. "I did nothing."
That was his claim, but it did nothing to stop the goosebumps that were littering Artemis' skin, nor the sinking feeling of unease that gathered at the bottom of his stomach.
"Are you okay?" She asked Bart.
He nodded. "Me? Yeah. Fine. Totally crash. Ya know? This has been a asterous day. Yep. Asterous." He clutched the stuffed animal closer to his chest. His words were calm, but too airy, and the eyes with the strangulation of the doll told Artemis of the fear that was making his heart pound against his chest.
Wait-- stuffed animal?
"Is that Flashamoozel?"
"-tt-" Damian glanced at Artemis, unimpressed. "A stupid name expected from an owner of such low caliber."
It was a white turtle, covered by a yellow shell, the hexagon patterns lined with red. Bart buried his face in it, a muffled, "It's not a stupid name," coming from him.
Dick's eyes narrowed, "Dami."
"I didn't do anything!" He started walking away, but M'gann came running in, tears streaming down her face. There was an inhibitor collar around her neck.
"Artemis!" She was covered in blood. "Please! He--" Her eyes landed on Damian, and her mouth snapped shut, freezing in fear.
Anger flashed in Damian's eyes, "I told you to stay silenced on the matter, did I not?!?!?"
Dick let out a long, long, loooong, exasperated soccer mom sigh. "It's okay, M'gann," He said, but Artemis was sure they had two different definitions of okay. "Just tell me what happened? I won't let him scare you."
Artemis hesitantly walked up to M'gann. She would have ran, really, but Damian's eyes boring into her back screamed at her to stay still and she could only cautiously approach her friend without feeling like she'd be brutally murdered.
"M'gann?" She asked, looking her over for wounds. Her hands were red up to her elbow, her shirt drenched in blood. "Are you hurt?"
Being Gotham was one thing. This-- Artemis wasn't sure what this was.
M'gann looked down at herself. "It's not mine," She whispered.
Right.
That made Artemis feel so much better.
The martian glanced at Damian, continuing in an even lower voice, "He put La'gaan in an hour glass of doom."
"What?" Artemis heard her-- but what?
"He put La'gaan in an hour glass of doom!!!" M'gann burst into tears again. "Like from the movie with the flying carpet!"
"What?" Artemis was thinking much worse, and she was sure that if La'gaan would stay in there he would die, but that wasn't too bad. It was almost a relief. "But then why are you covered in blood?"
"Be-be-be-because!" But she was crying to hard, and the words couldn't be understood.
Artemis sighed. There was too much relief in her chest for her to deal with M'gann's crying. There was no massacre, no dead babies, and as far as she was concerned a teammate about to die from a Disney princess movie gone wrong. She could deal. She really, really could.
"I thought you said you didn't watch Aladdin," Dick accused.
"I didn't," Damian huffed.
"Liar," Dick cheekily poked Damian's side.
M'gann wailed. "L-L-L-La'gaan!"
"Let's go," Artemis said. "I'm pretty sure 'no killing' is one of Batman's rules, right?"
Jason walked into the room and huffed. "Damian's just hitting his rebellion stage is all. Perfectly healthy."
Stephanie hummed, following him into the room with Terry in her arms and Tim lagging behind, his hands rubbing at what had to have been an aching jaw. "Perfectly normal and healthy," She said.
"Dying teammate," Artemis deadpanned.
"Guys, please," Tim whined. "I like this team."
Another soccer mom sigh. "Okay," Dick picked up Damian like he was two and placed him on his hip. "Let's go."
"Thanks," Tim Lead the way, using the sobbing M'gann as a guide and Artemis followed close behind.
I did not make it up to the part I wanted to. Darn it. But I'm tired, so Imma post this and write the rest as a separate chapter. Please guys! I've been out of the game for a while so I want Criticism and Compliments. What I did right or Wrong! What do you want to see!
Thank you so much for sticking around!!!!!!!
