There's a Serial Killer in Town, and I Think he's After your Girlfriend

Ryan's pov

"Baby, I don't care. I can't keep doing this." I kept her hands in mine.

"Yes you can. You should be with someone alive someone that actually has to breathe and eat and do everyday human things. I know you care about me, but I'm dead. You shouldn't care." She pulled away.

"Why not? Why is it so bad that I be with a ghost? You're the one that I want."

"You don't get it!" She cried.

"I don't think you're the one who gets it. Y/n, ever since I met you I haven't been able to keep you out of my mind. I just wanna be by your side. I-" I took her hands again, "I'm in lo-" But she stopped me.

"Don't say it! Please, don't say it!" She began to cry.

"I'm... I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to-" I tried to comfort her.

"Get out!"

"What?"

"Get out of my house!" She sobbed. I did as she said, but only sat in my car. I'm such an idiot! Why did I say that!? I shouldn't have said that... I'm going to Pete's...

I started the car and drove over, keeping down tears. Once there, Pete opened the door. Brendon was already there, stealing his food, and drinking his drinks.

"Hey Ryan, what's goin' on?" Pete asked as we sat in the living room.

"I messed up," I grabbed a throw pillow, hugging onto it, desperately hiding the tears, "I... I told her how I felt. She doesn't like me like that."

"Oh Ryan, I'm so sorry," Pete sent a sorrowful look my way, "What did you say to her?"

"Well first, we... we kissed. Then she started to freak, and I accidentally-" I corrected myself, "Almost told her that I loved her. I mean, I do. I just... didn't want to tell her like that." I explained.

"Are you gonna be alright?"

"I dunno, she kicked me out. I mean, I understand why she's mad. She wants me to be with someone alive, y'know. But I don't want to be with anyone else, Pete, I don't." I cried.

"Did she want you to kiss her?" Brendon asked.

"It was implied."

"What exactly happened?" He asked.

"Well, this morning we were downstairs and I spun her around, to face me. I held her close to me. I leaned in for a kiss, but stopped midway; cause usually she disappears before I can. But she didn't. She asked if I was gonna kiss her, I told her she's usually gone by now. She said, 'maybe I won't disappear this time' and I kissed her." I explained.

"And then? What happened afterwards?" Brendon asked, now invested in the story.

"She told me she couldn't do it. She said I need to be with someone who's alive. We had a little fight, and I accidentally, almost, told her that I loved her, then, she kicked me out," More tears spilled as the memories replayed over and over again, "I think she hates me now..."

"Dude! You gotta fix this! You said she won't be with you cause she's dead, right!?" I nodded, "What if we found a way, to bring her back."

"Oh man, I thought you were gonna murder me or something," I chuckled, "That might actually work! Brendon, you're a genius. But I think we should talk to her about it first, do we even know how to?"

Pete was already clicking away at his laptop.

"I found something!" Brendon and I crowded around our friend, "Oh man, this doesn't look very safe."

"That doesn't matter!" I cried, "If it'll bring her back, then it's fine!"

"I dunno, says we need a human sacrifice."

"Fuck that. Is there any other way?" I asked.

"No, this is all just demon summonings and seances."

"What's that?" Brendon asked, pointing to a website. Pete clicked, it took us to a book store website. How to bring back the dead and other helpful spells.

"Dude, order it." I said.

"I don't think I wanna give this sketchy website my credit card information, and, order it yourself, dumb ass."

"I'm not giving a sketchy website my credit card info either!"

"Sorry, guess we're not bringing her back." Pete said.

"Or, we could make a quick trip to the book store?" Pete gave me a look, "Please! It's for a good cause!"

"How!? We don't even know if she wants to come back to life!"

"I'll buy lunch," With those three words, both boys instantly agreed to go, "Let's go!" Pete drove as we talked until we were there. The three of us stood in front of a small building between a restaurant and what I believed to be, an antique store. The windows were blacked out, no sign except for one fallen off the door.

"You better be taking us somewhere nice, Ryan." Pete said as we approached the door. He opened the door for us, forcing me in first.

"Oh how gentlemanly of you." I said, sarcastically.

The room we had walked into felt like a movie scene. Shelves littered with dust and cobwebs were lined with moldy books made from before my parents were born. Broken lights switched on and off, a wooden table painted black had a witchy lady sitting behind it. I barely notice what she was wearing or even looked like, for her empty white eyes were the only things anyone would notice.

"Hello, I've been expecting you my child." Freaky...

"Uh, hi," Only now had I realized there was a crystal ball set in the middle of the table.

"Sit," She commanded.

"Um, we're not here for a reading, we're just looking for a-" Pete began.

"Sit!" She slammed her fists into the table. The three of us took seats out of fear. Her long ancient fingers traced the glass ball; then pointed to me.

"You!" The tips of her fingers traced shapes across the glass, "I see, happiness. A girl is with you, oh, but something bad is going to happen before you get there. Oh my... a death."

"A death!?" I exclaimed.

"Ryan!" I got a wack to the head, "These aren't real, she's just trying to get a reaction outta you." He whispered.

"Just because I'm blind, doesn't mean I can't hear." She said, "I know why you're here. The death of a girl. You want her back, don't you?"

"Yes, that's exactly what I want." I said, desperately trying to find a way. She just snickered and leaned back in her chair.

"Oh you won't have any troubles with that. You won't need that book. I already sold it, anyways," She said, "I knew you boys were going to be in here, and you're too late."

"What are you talking about? And how do you only have one copy of that book? This is a book store, right?" Brendon asked, confused.

"Silly boy, yes, but that particular book is hard to come across. A man came in just yesterday, bought it to bring back his love. How sweet," She snickered once again.

"What do you know?" I asked.

"Just wait, it'll all be clearer in the morning. Even clearer the next," She leaned closer to us, focus solely on me, "Your fate falls in the hands of the man who bought that book. And I have a feeling that you're rather familiar with him."

"Y'know, this has been fun and all but I think we're done with all this witchy crap." Pete said, standing up. She slammed her hand down once again, startling him.

"Leave a tip, I don't get paid very much here."

"I can't imagine why." Pete rolled his eyes, I punched his arm as I slid her a ten. We walked down to a Mexican restaurant a few buildings down for lunch. As soon as our ass' hit the seats, Brendon spewed out so many questions so fast, I could barely keep up.

"What just happened!? Why did we go there? What the fuck!? What if Ryan's the one who dies? Who's the guy? Why does he need the same book as us? How'd she know all that stuff? What was with her eyes? What kind of book store only sells one copy of a book? Wha-" Pete held an arm out in front of him, signaling to stop talking.

"We know just as much as you do Brendon, asking a bunch of questions isn't gonna make us magically know," Pete explained, "Besides, it was total bull shit. There's no way any of that was real."

"You didn't believe that Y/n was real," I said, "She's very real."

"That doesn't mean that stupid reading will be."

"Well, there's gotta be some truth to it. She knew a lot of stuff that I've only ever told you guys. You haven't told anyone about all this, right?"

"No, people would think I'm insane." Pete explained.

"I don't have anyone else to talk to." Brendon said at the same time as Pete, who gave him a look.

"You're kidding, right? You can't only talk to me and Ryan."

"Why do you think I'm always at your house? I have nowhere else to go," Brendon sighed, now embarrassed, "You two are all I got."

"That's fine, Pete, that's fine." I comforted my friend.

"Yeah, I mean, it is. You just don't seem like the kind of person to only have two friends, I mean..." Pete trailed on, I lost interest when a tall man caught my eye. He stood just outside the restaurant, not doing anything particular. He looked at a sign on the window, then it all became clear.

"Holy shit!" I interrupted Pete's rambling, unable to process who I just saw, I only pointed, but in a way where it wasn't obvious to the said man.

"Oh my god, that's... that's the guy! What is he doing here!?" Pete began to freak out.

"Dude, don't make a scene!" I calmed them down, and the man disappeared.

"Ryan," Pete began at a low whisper, "There's a serial killer in town, and I think he's after your girlfriend."

OwO-
When you get chills from re-reading a chapter you just wrote. This turned out way different than I initially planned and I love it. Ended up changing the name, I felt like Honeypie pt2 didn't fit well. Next chapter, if it's written as planned, will probably be named that. Stay home, stay safe, and you can't get corona virus from your pets so please don't drop me off at a shelter or anything. You'll be fine. Have a great day~peace out cheesebags
