ACT TWO ━━━ CHAPTER ELEVEN,
it's always the blonde's

━━━━ LONDON.

𝓢teve had informed Lucrecia the continents in the text message he received, the woman he loved in the 90s had passed away and her funeral was in London.

The two of them and Sam traveled to London but Lucrecia didn't attend the funeral. She didn't want to attend the actual thing because she didn't even know Peggy Carter. So, she arrived when it ended just to support and comfort Steve.

The blond male stood in the middle of the aisle, his hands in his pockets.

He turned around when he heard footsteps only to see Lucrecia who was in a knee-length black dress that had a low V-line with a pearl necklace attached to her neck.

Steve turned to the side and leaned on the bench as Lucrecia walked up beside him.

"When I came out of the ice, I thought everyone I had known was gone. Then I found out she was alive." Steve spoke, gesturing to Peggy. He shook his head, "I was just lucky to have her."

Lucrecia smiled at him softly, "She had you back, too. I'm sure she died happy because she got to see you one last time."

Steve nodded and moved his eyes to the ground. "Who else signed?" He changed the subject, not wanting to talk about Peggy.

"Tony, Rhodey, Vision."

"Clint?" Steve asked.

Lucrecia shrugged, "From what Nat told me, he says he's retired."

"Your siblings?"

"TBD."

"Nat?"

Lucrecia smacked her lips together, crossing her arms and lowering her head. "She's . . . not sure about her decision yet."

Steve just nodded in response. "And you?"

Lucrecia was silent for a moment. In all honesty, she didn't know if she should sign or not, she's only been part of the team for a year so it wasn't as important as it is to Steve.

"I'll be honest with you," Lucrecia started. "I have no intention of leaving but . . ." She sighed, trailing off.

"I haven't been in the team as long as you have, Steve, so I'm not that much affected by the Accords than you are. I'm not saying that I want to sign, no, I'm saying that . . . whatever you do, whatever you choose to do, I'll always support you no matter what."

Steve looked down at her with a melancholy expression, "No matter what?"

"No matter what," Lucrecia smiled at him and he returned the favor.

"Nat's off to Vienna for the signing of the Accords. She invited me to go with her but I told her that I'd rather be with you." Lucrecia informed him after a moment of silence.

The Maximoff licked her lips, "A part of why I'm here is because she wanted for you to come with us."

Steve sighed deeply, shaking his head. "I'm sorry, Lu, I can't sign it."

"I know."

"Then what are you doing here, the other part of you that wasn't sent by Nat?" Steve asked her.

Lucrecia swallowed, nodding her head a little bit. "I didn't want you to be alone. I told you that everything was going to be okay, I even promised you . . . and I don't intend to break that promise."

Steve had tears welling up in his eyes, he bit his lip to stop himself from letting out a cry.

Lucrecia saw how he was close to breaking down, she didn't like seeing him being sad. It broke her heart to witness him like this.

"Come here."

Lucrecia pulled him into a big hug, Steve wrapped his arms around her torso, clinging onto her for dear life as if she'll vanish in his hold.

"Promise me you'll never leave me?" Steve mumbled.

Lucrecia closed her eyes, a barely visible smile on her lips. It wasn't a happy smile, no; it was a sad one.

"I promise," she said.

But then again, promises are made to be broken.

𝓛ucrecia met up with Sam after the moment in the Church. The two of them were looking for Steve only to find him getting a little close with a blonde girl.

Lucrecia and Sam shared a confused glance, the Maximoff girl scowled at the sight of them. "Steve," Sam called out making the duo turn their heads to the two Avengers.

Steve's eyes widened when he saw Lucrecia standing beside Sam with a scowl on her face. His cheeks turned a little bit red when he realized that she saw the whole thing, as did Sam.

"There's something you gotta see."

The three of them and the blonde girl went into another room where the TV was playing the latest news. "A bomb hidden in a news van."

"Who's coordinating?" Blondie asked someone through the phone.

"Ripped through the UN building in Vienna. More than 70 people have been injured. Atleast 12 are dead, including Wakanda's King T'Chaka. Officials have released a video of a suspect who they have identified as James Buchanan Barnes, the Winter Soldier."

Lucrecia and Sam looked at Steve at the mention of his bestfriend in the '40s. Steve kept his eyes glued to the screen, avoiding their burning glances.

"The infamous Hydra agent linked to numerous acts of terrorism and political assassinations."

Blondie — Lucrecia didn't care about her name — came up beside Steve and the Maximoff girl, "I have to go to work."

"No one's stopping you, blondie," Lucrecia spoke, not even sparing her a glance.

"Don't be rude, Lu." Steve scolded her like a child making both her and Sam roll their eyes. He turned to Sharon, "Before you go, I need your help with something."

Lucrecia looked at him weirdly, he gave her a scolding look before she could open her mouth. She shook her head and went closer to Sam who placed his arms around her shoulders.

Sharon glanced at the Maximoff, an uncomfortable look on her face. She looked back at Steve when Lucrecia flashed her violet eyes at her, the blonde Carter gave him a small smile, "Anything."

Lucrecia and Sam glanced at eachother, a disgusted look on both their faces.

God, it's always the blondes isn't it?

Lucrecia sat in a coffee shop with Sam beside her, the two of them were wearing sunglasses and caps on to "disguise" themselves.

"You don't seem to like Sharon a lot," Sam teased, looking at the girl beside him.

Lucrecia faced him, "That is her name?"

"Yeah," Sam nodded which got a scoff from the girl.

"Ever her name sucks."

Sam chuckled, shaking his head. "What? Jealous she'll steal your man?"

"My man?" Lucrecia questioned. She wouldn't exactly count Steve as "her man", they might've kissed but that was only twice.

"I'm not blind, Lu. You like him, he likes you. I say go for it," the dark-skinned man suggested which got a shake of the head from Lucrecia.

"No way," the Maximoff girl denied, shaking her head.

"Why not? You two look good together."

Lucrecia rolled her eyes, "Compared to Blondie, it will never happen. Haven't you learned, Sam? It's always the blonde girls."

Before Sam could reply, Steve came up beside them. Sam gave Lucrecia the we'll take about this later look making her sigh but nod anyway.

"She tell you to stay out of it?" Sam asked the American hero, gesturing to his call with Natasha. When Steve didn't answer, Sam nodded his head to the side. "Might have a point."

"He'd do it for me," Steve retorted.

"1945, maybe. I just want to make sure we consider all our options. The people that shoot at you usually wind up shooting at me." Sam said.

Sharon appeared beside Steve, Lucrecia shared a knowing glance with Sam as her jaw clenched. "Tips have been pouring in since that footage went public. Everybody thinks the Winter Soldier goes to their gym. Most of it's noise. Except for this."

Sharon slid a brown envelope to Steve who took it and opened it. To Lucrecia, Steve looked like a blind man when he was doing it.

"My boss expects a briefing, pretty much now so that's all the head start you're gonna get." Sharon informed them.

Steve nodded curtly, "Thank you."

"You're gonna have to hurry. We have orders to shoot on sight." And then she left.

Lucrecia sighed in relief when she finally left, "Thank God, she left." She whispered quietly so only Sam could here.

The male laughed quietly, Steve looked at the two of them when he heard their laughs.

"What's funny?" The Blond male asked making Lucrecia and Sam stop laughing and put on serious faces.

They shared a glance, "Nothing, Stevie." Lucrecia told him making Steve nod his head.

The tallest male lowered his head, "Listen, Lu . . . about earlier-" Steve started but got cut off by Lucrecia, herself.

"Now, back to this whole "save Bucky" plan," she changed the subject, not wanting to talk about what happened earlier.

Lucrecia saw how Sharon looked at Steve, it sickened her. She knew that Sharon and Steve had a little bit of history, the blonde helped Steve a few years ago. Lucrecia knew that she shouldn't compare herself to someone like Sharon but then again, it's always the blonde girls.

Steve's face morphed into a saddened and guilty expression. He knew that Lucrecia thought he liked Sharon but, in all honesty, he didn't. It felt wrong to like his ex-lover's niece in that way, that was wrong in every way possible.

Pushing all of his feelings away, Steve nodded. "Like I said, he'd do it for me."

"Okay. I guess we're going on a recruitment trip."
