ACT ONE ━━━ CHAPTER FOUR,
❝ i can read him ❞

ＲＥＳＥＡＲＣＨ ＬＡＢ．

𝓓octor Helen Cho walked into her lab after saying something to her co-workers in Korean. She looked up to see Ultron in all of his glory but before she could scream or call someone, Ultron spoke up.

"Scream, and your entire staff dies," Ultron threatened, Helen reluctantly closed her mouth. "I could've killed you, Helen, the night we met. I didn't."

"Do you expect a thank you note?" Helen replied sarcastically.

"I expect you to know why."

Helen looked down to where a case was placed beside Ultron, "The Cradle."

Ultron placed his metal hand on the cradle, "This is the next thing, Tony," The voice of Helen Cho spoke from when the Avengers gathered up together in the lab after Ultron's first appearance.

"This is the next me."

"The Regeneration Cradle prints tissue. It can't build a living body," Helen denied, looking at the cradle with an uneasy look.

"It can. You can," Ultron said, stepping towards her which made her step back. "You lack the materials."

She looked at another robot coming up towards them who was holding a tube that contained the vibranium.

"You're a brilliant woman, Helen."

She turned around to see Loki's scepter, the blue rock glowing brightly. "But we all have room to improve," Ultron pointed the scepter's tip on her chest, where her heart was located. Light blue lines went up the Korean woman's face as her eyes turned fully black then back to normal but her irises were glowing blue.

"𝓒ellular cohension will take a few hours, but we can initiate the consciousness stream. We're uploading your cerebral matrix now," Helen Cho informed them.

The body was a work in progress when the triplets arrived.

The trio arrived in the morning, half of the body was already generated when they appeared. The siblings were up all night, none of them could sleep.

Wanda walked towards the cradle, "I can read him." She announced which caught Pietro and Lucrecia's attention. Lucrecia furrowed her eyebrows and stood beside Wanda, trying to read the robot's mind.

Her eyes widened when she could actually read it, "I can read his mind too, that's amazing." Lucrecia mumbled, amazed that Ultron and Dr. Cho actually made a living person.

Wanda glanced at her sister and nodded, her eyes sparkling in amazement. "He's dreaming."

"I wouldn't call it dreams. It's Ultron's base consciousness. Informational noise. Soon-" Helen commented but got cut off by Ultron who seemed to be bored and impatient.

"How soon? I'm not being pushy."

Lucrecia blocked whatever Helen was saying and stepped closer to the cradle, she placed her hands on the glass and went through his mind.

A loud cry of pain was heard when she did so, Lucrecia backed away from the cradle with her hands on the side of her head. Ultron stood up and her siblings immediately went to her.

Lucrecia's breathing was heavy and uneasy as she looked at the cradle with her eyes wide and her face morphing into disbelief and horror. Pietro placed his hand on her back as Wanda placed hers on Lucrecia's arms, the three of them were basically hugging.

Lucrecia looked at Pietro, he placed his left hand on her cheek and Wanda took a hold of her hand in a comforting manner. Lucrecia placed both of her hands on either of their arms, trying to stop herself from falling on the ground from both the pain and the shock.

Lucrecia looked at Ultron, "How could you?" She questioned but Ultron didn't seem to understand what she meant.

"How could I what?"

"You said we would destroy the Avengers, make a better world. Not destroy the damn thing!" She shouted at the robot who didn't seem very phased by the scolding he was receiving.

Wanda frowned and gripped her sister's hand tightly, the middle triplet closed her eyes and tried to find the image that Lucrecia saw. When she did, Wanda opened her eyes and gasped loudly.

Both sisters saw the Earth getting burned to the ground, a meteor hitting the planet.

"It will be better," Ultron reassured them but they weren't having it.

"Better? You think everything will be "better" when everyone is dead?" Lucrecia snapped angrily. They made a deal and he broke it, they would destroy the Avengers, not the whole world.

Pietro looked at his sisters in confusion, he was the one who couldn't read minds or view memories so he was clueless most of the time. Lucrecia noticed his confusion and closed her eyes for a brief moment then opening them, Pietro gasped and looked at Ultron with wide eyes.

Lucrecia had shown him what she saw from her memories, she could view memories and show them.

"That is not- The human race will have every opportunity to improve." Ultron defended himself, trying to let them see how he sees it but all of them just looked at him like he had just told them that he places the milk before the cereal.

"And if they don't?" Pietro questioned.

"Ask Noah."

Who the hell is Noah? Lucrecia asked herself in her head, her frown becoming deeper.

Lucrecia shook her head at him in denial, "You're crazy. Insane."

"Those were more than a dozen extinction-level events before even the dinosaurs got theirs," Ultron exclaimed. "When the Earth starts to settle, God throws a stone at it. And, believe me, he's winding up."

Lucrecia scoffed as a tear went down her cheek, "So you're playing God, huh? You're the one who throws the rock, not him."

"No, I am not. I'm not trying to play anyone or anything. You have to evolve. There's no room for the weak."

Wanda looked at Doctor Cho and secretly sent a mist towards her direction, the magic in the mist making the hypnotism of the scepter go away and make Helen go back to her own consciousness.

"And who decides who's weak?" Pietro questioned, trying to distract Ultron so Wanda wouldn't get caught.

"Life." He chuckled, "Life always decides."

The triplets glanced at eachother when Ultron wasn't looking, the three of them already planning to get the hell out of there.

"There's incoming," Ultron announced, Pietro kissed both of his sisters' heads as the three of them hugged. "The Quinjet. We have to move."

"That's not a problem," Dr. Cho interjected as she paused the process of the making of Ultron's new body which made him groan.

Ultron sent red blasts towards the woman, Helen closed her eyes and got ready for the pain but it never came. She slowly opened her eyes to see a violet barrier around her, she looked at it with her mouth agape then looked at Lucrecia who had violet mists surrounding her hands.

Lucrecia made a circle motion with her hand as a portal appeared under Helen, she screamed as she fell down and teleported to the Avengers tower where it was safe.

Lucrecia quickly put her hand down and created a barrier around herself and her siblings, Pietro picked up Wanda and grabbed Lucrecia's hand before speeding out of there.

"Wait, guys!" Ultron yelled, calling out for them.

Ultron shot at a random doctor as his minions did as well, "They'll understand. When they see, they'll understand. I just need a little more time." He muttered to himself and removed the plug that Dr. Cho attached to the back of his neck which disconnected the machine that was making the body.

His robot minions took the cradle and brought it somewhere else with him following them.
