CHAPTER 43
Genevive's POV.
'Gen,honey, are you done with the cleaning?'
'Yes mom! I'm about to head to the shower. You want me to help?'
'Not really but can you just arrange the table. I gotta shower too. Your dad's gonna be here soon.'
'Alright mom.' - I happily went to set the table. Today was finally the day! The happiest day of my life you could call, my dad was going to rejoin us! After four long years, he was going to be with us. We were going to be a complete family. Again! I was so giddy from inside that I couldn't stop that idiotic smile on my face. It's been three days since Delano got arrested. Elijah was pretty quick to sort out the remaining issues and so today, my dad and Ian's mom were coming back. Elijah had told Delano would be submitted to court after a week. Mom and I had arranged a surprise party for dad. Just the three of us. I had invited Kam over but she refused saying we needed our family time. And about Asa, I knew Ian would have already invited him to his house. And Hudson? He had asked us not to disturb him for at least a month! He needed some leisure time he said.
I quickly set the table and headed to shower. I just couldn't wait for my dad to arrive. God, I was going crazy!
........................................................................
Ian's POV.
'Ian, fetch me those black plates from the pantry.'
'Yes dad.'
'And please see if this is good.' -my dad handed me a spoon of some corn soup which actually tasted amazing. I showed him a thumbs up and ran to the pantry. We didn't have time to waste. Dad and I were planning a family lunch at home for mom. She was to arrive in an hour and we were almost done. I just couldn't be more happier! Everything was falling into place and my life was just like a dream.
'Is Asa coming over?' - dad asked.
'Nah! He isn't. I had told him but he refused.'
'That boy should understand that he's a part of our family. I had actually thought of calling Mr. and Mrs. Dankworth over, but they've got works they said.'
'Don't worry dad. We have so much time to hold as many parties as we want.'
'Of course!'
'By the way dad, please do check if those profiteroles are ready.'
'Yeah yeah.'
'I just can't wait for mom to be here.'
'Neither can I, I'm really starvng.'
'Dad! That wasn't funny.'
'Blame your taste in humour.'
'Nah!'
'Who even taught you humour?'
'You yourself dad!' - I laughed shaking my head. I just couldn't wait for mom to join us! Boy was I going insane!
........................................................................
Hudson's POV.
'Finally!' - I shouted in glee as I plopped down on the hanging basket in my living room.
'Hudson! I'm trying to watch a movie.' - I heard my mom yell from her bedroom.
'Sorry!' - I yelled back sheepishly.
I was so contented and glad. Everything was perfect! My dad was arrested, my mom and I could just live without fear now. Moreover, I was happy for Ian and Genevive. They deserved so much happiness after all the hell they'd been through. Turning on my phone, I dialled my best friend's number.
'Hey Hudson!'
'Grayson! Wanna hang out bro?'
'So finally you have time to ask that huh?'
'Come on dude!'
'So where are we going?'
'Anywhere.'
'Alright be ready Mr. Hudson. I'm on my way.'
'Okay, Mr.grayson.' - I laughed and ended the call. I had missed him so much. Amidst all the mess that my life had been, Grayson had been with me. Well, he should be with me! We were best friends practically since we started school! I quickly went to tell my mom about my leaving with Grayson.
'Mom!' - I sang as I climbed the stairs.
'You wouldn't ever let me live in peace, would you?'
'Oh come on pretty lady! I'm going out with Grayson. Alright?'
'That's fine! Ask Grayson if he wants to join us for dinner anytime soon.'
'You shall call his mom! I don't think I'll have time for this formality.'
'Okay Hudson! I might go for some shopping with my gang. So don't freak out if you don't find me here after you come back.'
'Old women!' - I teased.
'Hudson Carlos Miller!'
'Yes ma'm!'
'Please leave.'
I chuckled as I left the room, leaving my mom to enjoy her overdramatically boring movie.
........................................................................
Asa's POV.
'Mom! I'm leaving.'
'Don't you want lunch?'
'Nah! I'm heading to Vintage. Tell dad that I'll join for dinner.'
'Alright take care Asa.'
'Yes mom!'
I hopped into my car and fastened the seat belts. I was so thrilled and happy for Ian and Gen. God they must be dancing with joy! I smiled. They deserved to be happy! Ian had called me over and I was pretty sure I would have to listen to long lectures from Ian, his dad and even his mom on how I was like their son. But today, they deserved to be alone! After all, they were reuniting after four years!
........................................................................
Elijah's POV.
'Did you take everything?' - I asked them as they loaded their last bags into their cars.
'For the billionth time, we did Benjamin.' - Mr. Owens patted my shoulders.
'The problem is, if you leave something behind, I'll have to bring them to you and that is very annoying to me.' - I shrugged with a small smile.
'You never change, do you? ' - Mrs. Carter laughed.
'Of course he never does!' - my wife exclaimed from beside me and I faked a hurt expression eyeing them.
'Alright Benjamin, thank you for everything. We'll meet in the office.' - Mr. Owens gave me a man hug.
'Yes boss!' - I teased. We had decided that Bardot Industries was going to be taken over by Mr. Owens like in the past.
'Good bye Elijah. Good bye Helen. And good bye little kids! We'll see each other soon!' - Mrs. Carter too bade us farewell and they both got into their respective cars and drove away. Away to freedom and happiness!
'Papa, what are you going to do now?' - my three year old son, Leo asked.
'Papa is going to sleep obviously.' - my nine year old daughter,Hazel, replied in a boring tone.
'Hey, I don't always sleep.'
'Okay then what are you going to do now?' - my wife asked in a mocking tone.
'That, for now, I'm going to sleep but we'll hang out tonight kids. Trust papa.' - I grinned sheepishly.
'Phew!' - Leo sighed dramatically while the three of bursted out into laughter.
........................................................................
Kamri's POV.
'Mom!'
'Mom!'
'Mom! Mom! Mom!'
'What is it Kam?'
'I'm bored.'
'For god's sake Kamri, it's for the millionth time that you are saying this. Please let your mother work.' - my dad laughed at me while I mock glared at him.
'But I'm bored dad!'
'Go watch some movie!'
'I don't want to.'
'Then go study.'
'Never!'
'Then go eat something.'
'No! Lunch is almost done!' - my mom interfered.
'Okay then, go out somewhere after lunch.' - my dad suggested and I nodded at him with a thumbs up. Though I myself had refused going to Gen's house for the day for sensible reasons, I was bored like hell! I had been annoying my parents ever since morning and I bet they must have gotten exhausted by me!
........................................................................
'I'm leaving mom! Dad!' - I shouted as I closed the door. I quickly unlocked my car and hopped in. Buckling my seat belt, I roared the car to life and started driving, all the while being an unbeatable pop star!
'Hey kid! Lower your volume and behave yourself!' - I heard an old woman shout from the next car as I stopped at the red light.
'If my volume is disturbing please find yourself some cotton to keep in your ears. And about behaviour, I'm pretty sure it didn't cause harm to anyone.'
'Indisciplined child.' - I heard her mutter. I quickly raised my car windows and went back to my normal self. (It might seem crazy to everyone else but that's my normal self!)
After almost half an hour of driving around aimlessly, I decided to stop at a park for a good ten minutes. Little did I know that place was going to be far worse than one hundred Asa's combined. That place was packed, and when I say that I mean PACKED with little kids. They were running around and making noise and shouting and fighting and crying. God! I immediately left the place.
'What should I do now?' - I whined to myself. I knew it was pointless to call Ian, Gen or Hudson! They were all super busy and I was so over the moon for them. Having no other option I dialled the dickhead's number. I did have some doubt if he'd have gone to Ian's house, but my gut feeling just told me he would have rejected the invitation just like I did.
'What?' - he asked as soon as he picked the call.
'Don't you have manners?' - I shot back a little over dramatically.
'You called me to ask this?'
'No!'
'Then, what do you want?'
'Ughhhh! Ask properly Asa.'
'I'm hanging up.'
'No! Wait!'
'What is it Kamri?'
'Listen, where are you now?'
'Atlantis.'
'Ew! Too lame.'
'It's your standards.'
'Where are you?'
'At Vintage.'
'Ok, I'm coming there.'
'Then I'm out of the cafe already.'
'Asa! For the first and last time, I'm so so bored, so please.'
'Fine! I'm bored too.'
I hung up and drove to Vintage. I got in and found Asa at our usual corner. I walked to his table and sat opposite to him.
'Did you order something?' - I asked him.
'I ordered hot chocolate fudge for me and banana milkshake for you .'
'Ew! You know I hate it!'
'That's why I ordered just that.'
'You're so mean.'
'Look who's talking.'
'If I were you, I would have ordered something better.'
'Oh just shut up.'
'Your order is here.' - the waitress came and placed a hot chocolate fudge infront of Asa and a choco - caramel frappe infront of me. I eyed Asa and saw him shrug.
'Thank you.' - I said meekly.
'No problem.'
'What?' - I said a little too loudly.
'Forget it.'
Both of us sighed.
'Asa?'
'Yeah?'
'Where will you go for college?'
'I don't know. I aspire to become a detective.'
'Wow! That's my ambition too.'
'Really? I never knew.'
'We never asked.'
'Yeah.'
'So, how's your mom and dad doing?'
'They're good. How about yours?'
'Fine.'
'I'm so happy for Gen and Ian.'
'I know! I'm literally having a mental party right now.'
Asa shot me a weird look and let out a chuckle. It was actually the first time we had this kind of a proper conversation. And I was somewhere enjoying it.
'I hope I'm not doing anything stupid in your mental party.'
'Trust me, you are. You are currently doing a ballet.'
'Oh my!'
I chuckled and he shook his head.
'Well then I can pretty much imagine you wearing a tomato outfit and dancing around.' - he teased.
'What! That's so ewww!'
He laughed again. This was the first time we had talked a good two sentences without bickering. And as much as I hate to admit, it felt fine.
'I have an idea. I'm pretty sure Gen's dad and Ian's mom would have reached already and they'd have had lunch too, so why don't we facetime them?'
'Okay!'
Asa took out his phone and started a video call with both Ian and Gen. They picked up after a few rings.
'Heyyy Dankyboy! Hello ladies! ' - Ian smiled.
'Hey! ' - Asa and I replied while Gen waved at the three of us.
'How come you two are together without any bruises or scars?' - Gen teased.
'We were bored out of the world and so somehow managed to adjust.' - I shrugged while Asa nodded. Ian and Gen chuckled.
We then talked for a few more minutes and hung up. We couldn't help but smile in ecstasy. Things were picture perfect now.
Our bond that had started ever since we were little infants, were still strong as ever. The four of us, even after all the troubles we had to go through and all the fights we had, had managed to hold strong onto our friendship. And I knew that for the million years to come, no matter what happens,we would always be there for each other. Even if we had the world to fight, the love and care we had for each other would be enough to fight away a bazillion monsters!
