UNKNOWN'S POV

I looked through the window and heaved a sigh. Life has always been like a game. As if emotions were just a piece of cake. I find it ironic how beautifully I had my life planned out and now here I am thinking of ways to breath peacefully. Sometimes in life, it's like a blessing to be alive. As in my case. I was supposed to die long back but now I am alive. I don't know how I'd show gratitude to him. But that doesn't mean I am safe. Nobody here is. We have been living in the fear of getting attacked any second. One wrong move and we'd all be dead. I was always drowning in luxuries but I did have a kind heart though. But as they say, money can never buy you happiness instead it may snatch all your beloved things from you. In my case, that is what actually happened. Money did nothing but snatch away all my precious possessions. Even my own-
My thoughts were cut off when I heard the doorbell ring. Must be him. I got out of the room and greeted him. He smiled back at me. If I had one reason to smile then it'd be that he has been with me in every step of my life. Supporting me all those days, treating me like his own family. But I still hope I'd have a day where I'd be sitting with my beloved ones and laughing. I sighed again. Just how unpredictable life is!

GENEVIVE'S POV

I watched as students were buzzing in the cafeteria. Many girls and boys, some eating, some gossiping and some just sitting around and laughing. Then I saw Ian and Asa walking over to our table. Kamri was observing her food while I passed a smile to the duo.

'Hey hey Gennieeee!' Asa greeted me cheerfully with a fist bump.

'Take a seat Danky boy!' I motioned him to sit down.

'You won't ask me to sit huh?' Ian asked me faking hurt and pouting. God he looked just out of the universe!!!! I so badly wanted to pinch his cheeks.

'Of course Ian! Please take a seat!' I said with a chuckle. Ian shook his head at me and they both sat down. We were chatting happily when I saw Melissa, the one from Yulia's gang and the very one who had a crush on Ian. I gulped. Was she here to ask Ian something? God! I slowly nudged Kam and signalled her with my eyes. She blinked at me in a reassuring way. I still was nervous though. What if she asks Ian about what I said! Or what if she asks Ian out on a date! She was a brave girl so she would do that if she wanted to! And worst of all, what if Ian agrees? That thought clenched my heart. I blinked a few times. A habit I had that I'd do whenever I was confused, nervous or uneasy. Melissa was just a few paces away from us. I shifted in my seat. Oh god! Please let her slip on some imaginary banana peel!

What if Ian would rush to pick her up then?

No! That couldn't happen! Could it?

'Hello everybody!' Yeah neither did Melissa slip on a peel nor did Ian rush to catch her. But Melissa was here! THE Melissa! God! How pathetic I was!

'Oh hey! Take a seat!' Guess who said it! I'll give you a clue..... That person was sitting right next to me and has got an eternal enmity with Asa. Yes! Kamri Cohen greeted MELISSA! AND ASKED HER TO TAKE A SEAT!! A FREAKING SEAT!

Ok Gen! You are overreacting!

I gulped and smiled at her.

'So how have you all been?' Melissa asked us.

'Umm... You mind introducing yourself ?' Ian asked her while I stared at him for no reason.

'Oh yeah! I am Melissa Fynn. And I am 16. In Gen and Kam's year to be specific.' - she said with a giggle. Why on earth was she giggling?

'Oh! Nice to meet you!' Asa said with a neutral face. Such an amazing boy he is, I tell you!

'That's nice!' Ian said with a smile. Why was he smiling? Does he love- !! No no! That wouldn't be possible.

'Actually I came here to see you Ian!' BAMMMM!!!! Lord of the universe! Please please please!

'Really? What is it that you want?' Ian said with a smile again. Why was he smiling like that at her? I took a glance at Asa who was counting how many noodles was there on his plate. Then I took a look at Kam who was paying full attention to Ian and Melissa's conversation like me.

She is doing it in a polite way, idiot!

'That...umm....I' Melissa began. Ian nodded indicating her to carry on. My heart was sinking. I resisted the urge to yell at him and sat with patience.

'That Genevive-' I choked on air(which I didn't know was wuite possubke until now)and glanced at her.

'What about Gen?' Ian asked curiously.

'That...a girl I know has got a crush on you and wished to go on a date with you. And we had asked Genevive if she could set her up with you since you guys are good friends and all! ' - Melissa spoke while I closed my eyes tight so as to prevent whatever it is that falls out of your eyes! I then took a glance at Ian who had a stern face.

Congratulations Gen! You are in deep deep deep trouble!

Kam took hold of my hand and Asa smiled at me. Ian asked Melissa to continue. And I just wished if the ground beneath me could swallow me in.

'And Gen, she told us that you...umm you don't like to have girlfriends!' she spoke with a shrug. And looked at me with a slight smirk.

That sucker!

I just wanted the ground beneath me to slip and take me in. Kam and Asa burst into laughter! Like what the actual hell!!!

'Well....'  Ian started. I just hung my head low and listened whatever he was going to say that'd embarass the hell out of me.

'She actually has got a point! I do not like to have girlfriends.' Ian spoke. Wait!!! Did he speak in my defence? Did he really say that?

That means he wouldn't want you either stupid girl!

Ok, that hurts but atleast now I am saved.

'Oh!' Melissa spoke defeated and I sighed inaudibly.

'Yeah, now if you are done with your business you may leave!' Ian said to Melissa. She gave me one last look and left.

'Gen! Why did you say that? ' Asa asked while wriggling his eyebrows.

'Yeah, you owe me an explanation young lady!' Ian spoke looking straight into my eyes.

'That is because I didn't want any girl's life to be ruined!' I said with a smug look while in reality my heart was on fire.

'Oh oh oh!' Kam teased.

'Yeah! Why would I block her from being your girlfriend for some other reason?' I asked. Where was I getting all these confidence from!

'That's all? ' Ian asked with a smirk.

'Oh that's just it and please don't flatter yourself young man!' I smirked back at Ian. He just shrugged and laughed. Asa winked at me and Kam....that girl was busy squeezing her packet of ketchup into Asa's drink. Guess we have the World War 3 coming up!

'God! Just how much do you talk a day?' Asa scoffed at Kamri while she kept on rambling about something. Ian and I chuckled. We were done with school and was heading to the parking lot. We were going to my house.

'Are you listening Ms. Owens?' Kam stopped walking and asked me. I gave her a thumbs up. She took a deep breath and started walking and talking all at once. We were getting into the parking lot when all of a sudden Kam stopped talking and stood glued to her spot.

'Now what happened?' Asa groaned. Kam didn't speak and we looked where she was looking at. The sight made me froze at my place and my stomach dropped.
