Promises
Shocksurge halted when she heard Cobalt speak. She shook her head to clear it and knew that she couldn't show that she knew Moon personally. Cobalt didn't know that Shocksurge and Moon had been sparksisters or littersparks as she liked to call herself and her sister. Moon had never wanted Cobalt to know so she had never told him. However now she knew that she would probably have to come clean, pretty soon.
She kept up her pace and bounded back to Cobalt, shaking her head to clear it. Cobalt didn't notice anything was bothering her and just kept going. They arrived near Cobalt's berth where Eclipse recharged. She was curled into a makeshift ball and Shocksurge realized she looked older than the last time she saw her. She knew some Cybertronian grew and most animal Cybertronian did. They just grew at different rates and times. Eclipse seemed to be hitting a growth spurt.
Cobalt drew near his daughter and made a strange sounded rumbling sound in the back of his throat. He arched his head broadly and licked his daughter between her ears. She stirred a bit and stretched out her paw and it hung over the berth. It twitched a bit, alerting Cobalt that Eclipse was somewhat awake.
He whimpered and nudged his muzzle against her overhanging servo. "Eclipse," he breathed hopefully.
Eclipse blinked open an optic and raised her head weakly. She whimpered a bit and curled her tail a bit. She opened her mouth and blinked her optics. "Daddy?"
"I'm right here," Cobalt breathed as he leaned forward, grasped Eclipse's paw in his own and peering deeply into her bright optics. "It's okay. I'm right here."
Eclipse smiled broadly and looked a at the numerous wires that were connected to her. Her optics widened in shock and terror and she tried to move but her muscles fatigued and she fell back down.
"It's alright little one," chided Ratchet as he kneeled down to gaze at her. "You've been through quite an ordeal."
Eclipse whimpered in fear but Cobalt leaned forward and tried to comfort her. "You were very sick."
"Do you remember anything," asked Ratchet gently.
She shook her head. "That may be better," Shocksurge whispered to Cobalt gently. If she were Eclipse she would want to forget the first few solorcycles of her life.
"Am I sick anymore," asked Eclipse as she tilted her head in confusion.
Cobalt rumbled in gratitude. "No thanks to two very talented medics and an energon donor," he barked as he pointed a servo toward Shocksurge.
"Who's that," asked Eclipse as she sat up a bit and Cobalt helped her so that she wouldn't fall over.
"That's Shocksurge," Cobalt replied, trying not to growl her name. He knew that he wanted her in Eclipse's life because she need a mother in her life. He had no desire for that mother to be Shocksurge but he didn't have a choice. Plus he saw something in her that reminded himself of Moon.
"Shocksurge," echoed Eclipse and Cobalt wagged his tail, showing her that Eclipse wanted her closer. Shocksurge gulped, not exactly sure what she would do when she made it to Eclipse but she wasn't about to show any fear now. She swallowed the terror and took a step forward, her servos shaking a bit. She stopped when she reached Eclipse's berth. She suddenly wiggled her haunches and leaped onto the berth, sitting next to Eclipse.
She leaned a bit into her and Shocksurge felt a spread of warmth rush through her. She believed it was called affection. "Thank you Shocksurge," breathed Eclipse as she touched her nose to Shocksurge's shoulder before she drew back and laid down. "I'd be offline without you."
Shocksurge smiled and Cobalt saw the same flicker of affection in her optics that Moon had had from the day she had laid optics on Eclipse. Eclipse shook her head to clear it and leaped down from the berth, landing beside Lumber. Lumber snorted in amusement as Cobalt continued with the introduction.
"And Lumber, your uncle, my brother." Cobalt flicked his tail to Lumber as he took a step forward. His optics rounded a bit at being so close to Eclipse. She was so small and had so much intelligent light hidden in her blue optics. He noticed how much she looked like her mother but her personality was all her father.
"Hello Eclipse," he barked as his tail wagged. His conscious willed him to blurt out that he was the one to almost kill her but he knew that would not go over well with anyone standing there. He just took a step back and sat on his haunches, still looking at the beautiful pup he was related to.
Eclipse waved a paw weakly and Cobalt turned her head toward Ratchet. "You remember Ratchet, I know you do. He fought vary hard to save you."
Eclipse rumbled and Ratchet smiled at her. "It's my job."
Cobalt snorted. "Nonsense! You saved my daughter and my life along with Jolt! It was not nothing."
Eclipse blinked her optics in fear as she looked to Optimus, the largest of the ground. She seemed a bit taken back at his size and Cobalt pressed his head against hers to assure her. "Don't worry Eclipse," he chided gently as he looked to his friend. "That's our leader, Optimus Prime."
"He's so big," whimpered Eclipse as she pressed her head into her father's shoulder.
Cobalt chuckled and licked her reassuringly. "Yes he is and he's very brave. However he isn't going to hurt you, none of us are."
"Promise," asked Eclipse with round optics as she looked at her father.
Cobalt's eyes lit. In that sparkbeat he saw Moon instead of Eclipse. Moon had looked at him the exact same way when she asked him if he would always keep Eclipse safe. He had arched his neck and touched his muzzle against Moon's forehead and rested his paw on hers to comfort her.
Cobalt shook out of his daydream and rumbled a bit as he arched his neck and touched his muzzle delicately to Eclipse's forehead to calm her. "Of course I do. I'm your father, Eclipse, and that means I always keep my promises."
