Only Chance
"Who's Jolt," asked Jazz as he crossed his servos.
Ratchet smiled a bit. "Jolt is a very renowned field medic. He specializes in Cybertronian Biology and Chemistry."
"And that means," asked Lumber as he shook his head and growled. "Look not all of us are doctors."
Ratchet ignored him and kept talking. "He helped when the outbreak of Cybonic Plague broke out. He saved thousands by his biochemical mixture that somewhat protected from it," he rambled.
"Your point," asked Ironhide stubbornly as he rolled his optics.
Ratchet pointed a finger at him. "Jolt may be able to save Cobalt and Eclipse."
"That's great," yipped Shocksurge as her optics glowed. "But where can we find him?"
Ratchet shook his head and turned to his equipment. "I don't know,"' he confessed in a grumble. "He vanished when things got complicated like now. We're in the thick of the war now and we have been for stellar cycles."
Optimus sighed and looked to Cobalt, weak and pathetic. He then looked to Eclipse who coughed harshly and shivered as she tied to curl around herself again. "We have to find him," he murmured as optics turned to their leader. "I will lead the group with Bumblee, Jazz, and...." He trailed off and looked around before his gaze rested on Lumber. "Lumber."
"Lumber," echoed Ironhide in shock. "You want to take that Decepticon over me!"
Lumber pricked his ears in surprise but Optimus turned to Ironhide, trying to calm him. "It's not that. Lumber might be able to explain the virus to Jolt and then Jolt will be more equipped to help Cobalt and Eclipse."
"Besides if the Dark Sparks comes back we'll need someone to protect us," pointed out Ratchet hopefully. "Stay here and let Lumber go. Trust me you'll be some use here."
"Alright," growled Ironhide before he looked to Lumber. "You do anything to sabotage them then I'll kill you."
"Understood," growled Lumber before he looked to Optimus. "Can we leave?" He turned his head to Cobalt and Eclipse. "They're running out of time."
Optimus nodded. "Transformer and roll out!" He transformed with Bumblebee, Jazz, and Lumber doing the same.
"Please watch over my brother," Lumber whispered to Shocksurge before he sped after Jazz.
Shocksurge looked to Ratchet and Ironhide who didn't look overly thrilled with having her around. However they didn't have a choice. "Is there anything I can do," she asked hopefully as she lifted her head to gaze at them.
Ratchet shook his head. "No. The best thing you can do is stay away from them."
Shocksurge seemed a bit taken back and looked to Cobalt who still laid on the floor, coughing up energon. "Can I at least take him to his berth?"
Ratchet looked like he wanted to argue but thought better of it. He was sure that she would just do it anyway. "Fine but don't get any of his energon on you. If he loses much more I don't know what I should do."
Shocksurge nodded and sunk her fangs into Cobalt's shoulder and hauled him to his aching servos. He opened his heavy optics and looked over to her. "Shocksurge," he half rasped half growled. "Why are you helping me?"
Shocksurge sighed. "I don't know," she confessed truthfully as she hopped along with Cobalt pressed against her. "I wanted to apologize though for er your sparkmate."
Cobalt looked away and coughed. As much as he wanted to he wasn't that low as to get her sick on purpose. "Yeah if you really were you wouldn't have killed her in the first place."
Shocksurge growled a bit. "You knew that she was my sparksister," she whispered.
"Yes and that is precisely why you aren't offline right now," muttered Cobalt. "Because Moon wouldn't have wanted me to kill you."
"No offense, wheezy, but I don't think you could kill me if you tried," she taunted as she continued forward.
Cobalt's optics flickered. "Wheezy? Really?" He lapsed into another hacking fit and Shocksurge rolled her optics.
"The name does fit," she teased before she stopped at the nest and pushed him in. He landed harshly and lashed his tail before he repositioned himself.
He looked up to Shocksurge and wrinkled his muzzle a bit. "I can't believe I'm asking you this but if something happens to me-"
"Nothing is going to happen to you," corrected Shocksurge as she slammed a paw against the ground. "You are going to be fine."
Cobalt continued as if she hadn't spoken. "-Then I want you to tell Eclipse about her mother and then leave."
His tone surprised Shocksurge and she peered down on him. "Leave," she echoed in shock. That wasn't what she had expected Cobalt to say.
"I don't want her spending her time with a murderous Decepticon," Cobalt confessed as he closed his optics. "Especially one that killed her mother."
Shocksurge understood that and she dipped her head. "I respect that," she breathed before she turned and looked over her shoulder. "Would you mind if I watched over your daughter. If she gets worse I'll come and get you, I promise."
Cobalt sighed heavily. "F-Fine," he stammered before he coughed and more energon leaked from his lips. He turned away embarrassed. "But I don't want you there unless Ratchet or Ironhide is with you. I don't trust you around her alone."
Shocksurge respected his decision and nodded. "Coablt can I tell you something," she asked although she was going to whether or not he said yes or not.
Cobalt looked up and blinked his strained optics. "Why not? I don't have much time left anyway."
Shocksurge leaned forward. "I wouldn't have killed Moon if I would have known about Eclipse."
"It doesn't matter now," muttered Cobalt as he looked away and rested his head on his paws gently. "She's gone now and there's nothing we can do about it."
