Mei's phone went off at the same time she decided to check it and saw that she had a text from Renjun.

Ren: Kino and I are outside, we're picking you up today :P

Mei: Okay, I'll be out in a minute!

She quickly walked downstairs and grabbed her things, and when she walked out the door, she saw Kino leaning against his car.

"Morning, sunshine." He greeted.

You smiled. "Morning, Kino."

The girl got in the car, and Renjun turned around. "Good morning, MeiMei."

"MeiMei, how cute," she pouted. "Good morning, Ren."

"Have you eaten, Mei?" Kino asked.

She shook her head. "No, I haven't."

"Okay, then we'll go eat before school." He said, earning a nod from her and Renjun.

They pulled up to a nice looking breakfast place, one of Kino's favorites, she found out, and went inside. The three of them got seated and a waiter came to take their orders.

"My name's Daeho, and I'll be your waiter today." He said.

Mei made accidental eye contact and he continued looking at her after she looked away. It creeped her out, just because she didn't like when people stared at her.

"Can we all get waters?" Renjun asked.

The waiter nodded and walked off, then the girl shuddered in her seat. "He kept staring at me."

Kino rolled his eyes. "I saw."

The waiter came back with the waters and everyone ordered their food. When they were all finished with breakfast, Kino insisted he pay, telling Mei and Renjun that they had no other choice but to accept his love. As the group was about to walk outside, the waiter pulled on Mei's arm, with no ounce of respect in his actions. He was about to say something when Kino walked up and yanked Daeho's hand off of her arm.

"Hands off." Kino growled.

The waiter put his hands up in defense, and the two walked away as Kino mumbled angrily under his breath.

"Thank you." Mei mumbled.

He smiled, a sigh escaping his lips. "No problem."

The three split up once again once they were at school, Kino and Mei walking to class together, until the girl heard mumbling from somewhere else.

"I'll be right back." She told Kino.

He nodded and walked into class while she walked down the hall and peeked around the corner, only to see Minghao hovering over something.

Whatever it was seemed lifeless. Mei covered her mouth to prevent from making too much noise and walked into the classroom, as if nothing had happened. She had experienced enough odd things already and the day hadn't even really started. As she sat there, listening to the teacher ramble about whatever was going on, she couldn't stop thinking about Minghao.

Eighth period started and Mei walked into class, sitting next to Kino.

"How come we're not changing?" She asked him, as the class usually changed for practice.

"She said we're doing one duo dance today, and then we're gonna talk about competition and stuff afterwards for the rest of the period, so there's really no need to dress out." He answered.

She smiled. "Oh, fun."

Soon everyone filed in and class started with Mrs. Su at the front of the studio. "Alright, we're going to be doing a duo dance, and I already have the girl picked out for it."

Mei watched as Jaehwa got up and flipped her hair, then she started walking to the front of the classroom, causing Mrs. Su to sigh. "Sit down, Jaehwa. It's not you."

Jaegwa looked appalled and sat back down. "Who is it?" One of the other students asked.

"The girl is Mei." She said as she motioned you to go to the front of the class. "Now we need a boy volunteer."

Kino raised his hand, along with a bunch of other boys, even Minghao. The girl saw Jaehwa look at him and smack his arm, but he kept his hand up. "Kino, you're the boy for this dance."

Kino smiled and walked to the front of the classroom. The two walked over to the speaker together and picked the song, then they went to the front of the class and started.

Minghao watched, upset that Mrs. Su didn't pick him to do the dance with her. The song started and Minghao watched with an anxious tap of his foot as the two of them got ready.

Throughout the whole dance, Minghao kept his eyes on Mei and only Mei. She made eye contact with him a couple of times and it was like time slowed down; Minghao felt like he could get lost in the girls eyes.

But what was he thinking? Jaehwa was his girlfriend - he shouldn't be having thoughts like this.

The dance called for her and Kino to get quite close, and for some reason, Minghao didn't appreciate it, feeling a small twist in his stomach every time the two touched. He didn't know what that feeling was, since he never felt it when Jaehwa was with other boys, but it was different with the new girl, the one he chose to despise. He felt like grabbing her away from Kino. The dance ended and Minghao surprisingly clapped for both of them, a small smile on his face.

Minghao told himself that he still hated Mei, but there was something about her that made him change his mind.

As she unplugged her phone from the speaker, she noticed that Minghao didn't look so hateful in that moment. When he smiled, she couldn't help but think his smile was one of the prettiest she's ever seen. Mei smiled back at him while Jaehwa glared at her competition.

"When we do competition, we have to have two leaders. A boy and a girl, so I need you guys to vote on who should be the leaders," she said, while the class nodded in response. "I'll put up a code so that you can vote online."

With that, she walked off and taped the code to the wall.  The last bell rang and Mei scanned the code, voting Kino as male leader and Jaehwa for female leader. She knew Jaehwa didn't like her, but it seemed like she was confident in her dancing, so the girl voted for her.

On her way home, she couldn't stop thinking about Minghao. His precious smile and the way he clapped for her every time she performed a routine. Then her mind flipped to the pages with the darker scenes painted on them. The scenes where he nearly crushed her vocal chords, where he almost got ahold of Renjun, where he was hovering over whatever it was that was so unlucky to be his victim.

It made her think: was he sweet or ruthless?
