[79] - Cuddles
Something short and sweet
Also while writing this I misspelled Virgil's name in a new way: Virgul
--
He is cold, it felt as if the ice from the December weather had spread through his room. Virgil cursed himself for forgetting to turn the radiator on. He was stupid to turn it off earlier that same day, his room having been too hot then. Or, Virgil had been sitting and watching Netflix while wearing his hoodie, a pair of knitted socks over his normal purple ones, and he had also wrapped every blanket he owned around himself.
This had of course resulted in him becoming slightly overheated and he'd turned the radiator off. Sadly he had also forgotten to turn it back on again after leaving his room. A solution to this was of course to spend the night somewhere else, say, Logan's room perhaps?
Then again, he would use anything as a reason to get cuddles from his boyfriend.
Normally he wasn't always the biggest fan of being touched, sometimes it was just too much for him to handle. Often when he woke up alone in the mornings it took him a while before he was okay with someone touching him. Virgil didn't know why, but unexpectedly being touched by anyone too early in the mornings, even if it was a hug, made him weirdly uncomfortable. It activated his flight or fight responses and the person was often shoved away.
It was different if he woke up together with Logan though, then it was as if his body was already used to the closeness of someone else. But, during the whole day today Virgil had been craving affection more that he usually did. So of course he now, already wearing his pajamas, made his way towards Logan's room, stopping outside his door, not wanting to enter without permission. Virgil knocked on the door, awaiting the response that came a second later.
"Come in."
Virgil opened the door and stepped inside, then closing it behind himself. Virgil quickly spotted Logan, he was in bed already, sitting up with his back against the headboard and a book in his hands. He smiled at the sight of his boyfriend, and Logan returned it, but also tilting his head slightly as if asking a question.
"My room is cold ...and I want cuddles." Virgil admitted, and Logan let out a small noise of understanding. The two of them usually kept their affection to only the two of them and rarely cuddled or kissed outside of either of their rooms. Though Virgil had learned pretty early on in their relationship that Logan could be very sappy when he wanted to.
"Well, you are always welcome here." He said, and Virgil quickly made his way up to Logan's bed, climbing into it. He sat down next to Logan, who wrapped an arm around him, then turned his head to press a quick kiss to Virgil's cheek. Virgil ducked his head, trying to hide the blush that was surely spreading over his face.
Logan chuckled at the sight of him, then pressed another kiss to the top of his head. Virgil cursed Logan's ability to leave him flustered, it was not fair. He sighed and leaned his head on Logan's shoulder, not bothering to try and hide his face, Logan was already well aware of the effect his affection had on Virgil.
"What are you reading about?" He wondered, stifling a yawn. Logan hummed questioningly, then seemingly remembering the book he had in his lap.
"Ah, it is called Astrophysics For People In A Hurry by Neil Degrasse Tyson. It is awfully fascinating. I'd tell you to give it a read, but I suppose there are books you'd rather read." Logan said, smile twitching on his lips. Virgil huffed out a laugh, Logan was right, of course. It did not seem like a book that he would read for fun.
Logan apparently did not seem to think that he'd been getting any more reading done tonight, because he put the bookmark (an old receipt for coffee that Logan had used as a bookmark for months) in the book, closed it and placed it on the nightstand.
Virgil tilted his head up, brushing his lips against Logan's jaw, watching as a faint tint of pink appeared on his cheeks. He took that as a victory. Logan turned his head, looking right at Virgil, and their faces were mere inches apart by now, and Virgil knew exactly what Logan was going to say when he opened his mouth to speak.
"Can I kiss you?" Simple question, simple answer.
"Please." He hummed, and Logan closed the already small distance between them, soft lips against his and warm arms around him, holding him close. He smiled into the kiss, a persistent smile that stayed even when Logan pulled back. Logan softly cupped Virgil's face in his hands, eyes searching every inch and lingering on his lips.
"I love your smile." Logan said calmly, as if Virgil didn't feel that he somehow fell even more in love every time Logan said something like that. It made emotions whirl through him in turmoil as if he'd been hit with a small hurricane of his feelings for Logan.
"Y- You sap." Virgil stammered, the words of course making him smile even wider. Logan just chuckled and kissed him again, softly this time too, and the butterflies in Virgil's stomach did not subside even for a moment.
"It makes your eyes light up, and seeing you happy causes me to feel most joyous. It is an honour to be the one to make you smile." Logan continued, and Virgil could feel himself blush, and he didn't know what to do with himself.
His solution was to press his face in the crook of Logan's neck to hide from view, and he could feel Logan shake as he laughed at his behaviour. Virgil clung to him, not feeling like letting go of his boyfriend any time soon. Logan must've figured because he simply scooted until they were both lying down, Virgil still pressed close to Logan.
Virgil shifted until he was practically lying on top of Logan, he was surprisingly comfy to use as a pillow. Logan slowly carded his fingers through Virgil's hair, and Virgil sighed in content. He'd never actually admit it out loud if anyone were to ask, but he absolutely loved it when Logan would play with his hair. It was calming, it grounded him when he was anxious, and Logan's touch was always so soft. He suspected that Logan had long ago realized how much Virgil enjoyed it when he would comb through his hair.
Then Logan's hand disappeared from his hair and Virgil pouted, even if Logan didn't see it. Logan shifted, trying to move from underneath him, resulting in Virgil holding onto him more tightly and burrowing his face in his chest.
"Are you ever going to get off of me?" Logan questioned, and Virgil detected a slight tone of amusement in his voice.
"No."
"But, Virgil... I drank a cup of tea before bed. I really need to use the bathroom." He whined, and Virgil groaned, then after a moment of consideration he rolled off of Logan, who thanked him by kissing his cheek before disappearing from the bed. Virgil just huffed and frowned.
"I'll be back in a minute." Logan said before leaving the room, a short laugh escaping him.
Virgil took this opportunity to crawl beneath the duvet, happily waiting for his boyfriend to return so that he could resume clinging to him. Luckily for him Logan got back quickly and joined him in bed after turning the lights off.
"You took forever." Virgil exaggerated and cuddled right up to him, and Logan did not seem to mind one bit as he pulled Virgil closer and kissed his forehead, though he did scoff at his statement.
Virgil ignored that and instead sighed in relief and content, finally getting the cuddles he'd craved all day. He loved how easy it was for him to relax when he was with Logan, he felt content. Virgil really needed to spend the night with Logan more often, cuddles always made everything better, a bad day would become good, and a good day would become great.
They laid in silence, the only source of light a nightlight on the bedside table (Logan disliked sleeping in complete darkness) and the glow-in-the-dark plastic stars stuck to the ceiling above them. The only sounds to be heard were Logan's calm breaths and the low ticking from the watch that hung on Logan's wall, both sounds that were strangely calming and only made Virgil slip further away from consciousness.
Virgil had not even realized how tired he'd been from the events of the day, but now the exhaust was sneaking up on him and his body felt heavy, and for once, his thoughts weren't hectic and worrying.
"You awake?" Logan asked softly, voice low just in case Virgil wasn't. He supposed Logan would not want to wake him. Virgil let out a quiet hum which didn't make him sound very awake, but to be fair he was closer to falling asleep than anything else.
"So, not really awake." Logan chuckled, momentarily hugging Virgil that little bit tighter. "Good night, love."
Virgil's body warmed at the pet name, as always it surprised him, but he was too tired to do anything else than to murmur out a quiet, "Night, Lo."
Before long Virgil was fast asleep, safe and comfortable in Logan's arms.
