After a whole week and a half alone in his and his husbands house he was still not used to how quiet it was. Not that Virgil made a lot of noise, but the alone-at-home quiet was so very different from the quiet when Virgil was there, doing whatever in the background, sitting with him on the couch, taking a shower, napping in their bedroom, watching the rain during storms, just existing there with him.
Sure, he wasn't entirely alone, their pet kitten was still there to keep him company while Virgil was away with his family, (he'd had to come and help his parents move, and celebrate some birthday, and Logan was working this entire time and hadn't been able to come with) but he missed his husband so, so much. He liked to think he wasn't entirely dependent on any other human, which he wasn't really, of course, but it just felt so much better to have Virgil around.
To just hear him talk to the cat, watching something on the tv, cooking dinner, watching youtube and playing music, talking to Logan, being there to provide comfort and attention, being all around and making their home home.
Okay, Logan might be slightly dependant on Virgil, missing him so much after only ten days without him.
Virgil was coming home today, thankfully, having texted him this morning when he got on his way home, and Logan couldn't wait.
Before he met Virgil he had with somewhat ease gone years without much affection from anyone, but then Virgil had come along and as they'd slowly warmed up to each other and became more comfortable with touch and, well, Logan had found it rather addictive.
And now after a week and a half without kisses or hugs, no one to cuddle while falling asleep, no Virgil to sit close to on the couch, no one to appear behind him and rest his head on Logan's shoulder, hold his hand, play with his hair, and a thousand small touches that Logan normally didn't think much of... well, Logan wasn't sure if it was possible to become touch starved in such a short amout of time, but he felt as if he didn't get some affection soon he'd implode.
Logan had one of his husbands playlists playing in the background, slightly unsure if it helped his loneliness or only made Logan miss him more, but he didn't want to turn it off, then it'd be too quiet, was too quiet anyway without Virgil singing along to his favorite songs, but this was better than nothing.
Okay, yes, he and his husband had talked on the phone and over skype too almost every day, they'd texted each other, all that, but it really wasn't nearly as good as waking up in the morning and coming home from work and Virgil simply being there (well, on the days he got off work first).
Logan poured boiling water in his Doctor Who cup, watching the tardis on it fade away and then appear on the other side of it with a space background. He lifted the cup up and made his way to the living room, careful not to spill his tea or stumble over their cat who might appear in front of him at any time.
He sat down and bobbed the teabag in his cup, then pulling it out and putting it in an empty glass he'd left on the table yesterday. He leaned back, sipping his tea and drumming his fingers along to All The Angels by My Chemical Romance. He could almost hear Virgil singing along, especially remembering the evening a few months ago when he'd pulled Logan with him to dance along to the music, right in the living room, as he'd quietly sang along, even coaxed Logan to do the same.
The memory still made him smile and he sighed to himself, wishing briefly that he was in Virgil's arms right this moment. But, once Virgil got home he'd surely get all the attention he wanted, knowing that Virgil had missed him just as much.
A new song started playing, one that Logan couldn't remember the name of at the moment. Their kitty, Memi (Virgil insisted on the name, and then mostly called her meme or meme-y instead) jumped up on the couch with a loud purr, stepping up in Logan's lap and he moved his half empty cup to the table. He stroked the cats head and as a reward got more loud purring and a few claws in his thighs as she walked around in circles before lying down. He blinked slowly at her, continuing to pet her and she gave him a slow blink back.
He'd thought he wasn't a cat person but Virgil had wanted a pet cat so bad and, well, turns out he'd been wrong. Virgil had actually shown him to be wrong about many things throughout their relationship. He hadn't known he was gay before meeting Virgil, he'd just thought he wasn't very interested in dating. He'd thought he wasn't very keen on affection, but Virgil was clearly the exception, that he'd learnt soon after becoming Virgil's boyfriend.
Logan heard the door being unlocked and his head snapped up so quick that the cat got startled and fled from his lap, which was probably for the best because otherwise he'd had to move her himself, and moving a sleeping kitten was a criminal offence.
"Hey, I'm home." He heard Virgil shout, the door closed and Logan got up from the couch, unable to keep a smile from his face at the sound of his husbands voice and he didn't even get halfway through the room before Virgil appeared in fromt of him, still with his shoes on and his luggage in his hands. He let the bags fall to the floor and pulled Logan in for a tight hug.
"Hey, L." He murmured, pressing a kiss to his shoulder and Logan sighed in content, letting his hands sneak in under his husbands hoodie.
"I'm glad you're back, V, I've missed you." He said and Virgil loosened his grip around Logan enough for them to be face to face and Logan wasted no time, pressing his mouth to Virgil's and showing him just how glad he was that he was home again,
"I had calculated that you wouldn't be home for at least another hour." He said when they parted, then kissing Virgil again, relishing in the feeling of having Virgil in his arms.
"Ate while driving." He said, before Logan had the time to tell him that he shouldn't multitask if one of those tasks involved driving a car. Well, he could always scold Virgil later.
Virgil pulled away from the embrace and went back into the hallway to take his shoes off, then coming back inside and pulling Logan towards the couch.
"What about your luggage?" Logan said and gestured at the stuff on the floor, but he didn't protest as Virgil pushed him onto the couch.
"I'll fix that tomorrow, now, I believe someone has been whining for cuddles for over a week." He said, and Logan couldn't really scoff at that or call it a lie, because he had brought it up several times when they'd talked that he felt deprived of affection.
Logan scooted to the corner of the couch, making himself comfortable and then making what he refused to call grabby hands at his husband to get him to join him. Virgil crawled up to him and practically laid down on top of Logan, pressing a kiss to his jaw before resting his head in his arms on Logan's chest, just looking up at him, seeming content but tired from the long drive back home.
Logan dragged his hands through Virgil's hair, watching him close his eyes with the smallest of smiles as he continued playing with his husbands hair, fingertips massaging his scalp.
"Love you, Virgil." He said quietly, tugging slightly at his purple strands (Virgil had insisted of dying his hair purple every since before Logan knew him, and he had no plans on stopping any time soon). He watched as Memi jumped up on the couch, sniffing Virgil for a bit before deciding he wasn't a stranger, then jumping up on his back and clawing at his hoodie before lying down on the small of his back.
"Love you too, L." Virgil said so very softly, opening his eyes a little bit. He moved his arms, holding onto Logan best he could. Memi purred loudly from her spot on Virgil's back.
"Now, nap. Am sleepy." He said then, pressing a kiss to Logan's chest before resting his head on his chest with a yawn. Logan smiled to himself, still carefully running his fingers through Virgil's hair.
"Of course, starlight. And then we can order something for dinner." He said, but Virgil didn't respond, either too tired to, or he'd already fallen asleep. This, this was ideal. There wasn't many things better than feeling the warm weight of his husband against him as they napped together.
