[178] - Playground
Parental analogical with kid roman is precious as heck and I need more ideas about them (so if u have some👀)
Warnings: nah, logan is in a bad mood at first I guess, mentions kids getting cuts and scrapes

Logan was not in a great mood coming home from work, it'd been a long day and he'd had to stay an hour extra to help an annoying coworker, he was hungry and tired and wanted to take a nap.
It certainly didn't improve his mood that the second he took his shoes off and took a step he stumbled on one of his sons toys which had apparently been left there on the floor. Logan groaned, kicking the toy to the side and was just about to yell for Roman to pick his toys up when his son showed up in the doorway.
"Dad!" Roman made grabby hands towards him, jumping a little and smiling. Logan sighed, smiled a little too, felt his frustration melt away and he bent down to pick the four year old up.
"Hello, dearest." He said, kissing his son's cheek and hugging him close, wondering how his family could just make his day instantly better.
"We're going out." Roman said in delight, patting his hands on Logan's shoulders.
"Oh, really? Where are you going?" He asked, carrying Roman into the kitchen. His husband was getting a glass of water, and he smiled at the sight of the two of them.
"To the playground!" Roman exclaimed.
"Well, that's fun." Logan gave his husband a quick but soft kiss, wishing he could lie down with him on the couch and get some well deserved cuddles, but with a hyperactive four year old they weren't going to get any peace. Roman began squirming in Logan's hold and he set him down on the floor and he immediately ran out to the living room.
"How about you start putting your shoes on?" Virgil called after him but he got no response so it was doubtful if Roman had heard him. Virgil turned to Logan.
"How's your day been?" He asked, setting his glass down on the counter.
"Tedious." Logan said, sitting down by the kitchen table with a sigh. He untied his tie, left it hanging around his neck.
"You've both had dinner already, haven't you?" He asked, hoping that was the case or Roman was going to get very whiny soon, he knew that from past experience.
"Yeah, we ate like an hour ago. I made that pasta thing Roman loves because he kept asking for it." Virgil said and walked over to the fridge, pulling out a plate of leftover that he put in the microwave for him. Logan braced his elbows on the table, leaned his chin in his hands and smiled at Virgil.
"How has your day been?"
"Good I suppose. Not very eventful, nothing really happened at work, Roman wasn't being difficult when I picked him up from daycare. Speaking of Roman, I should probably go check so he's not doing anything dumb or dangerous." The microwave dinged and Virgil grabbed the plate and cutlery and set that down in front of Logan. He kissed the top of his head before leaving the kitchen.
Logan ate quick, soon hearing Roman run from his room towards the hall, by the sound of plastic hitting the walls he had his little toy sword. It was a gift he'd gotten for his third birthday and now, over a year later, it was still his favorite toy.
He and his husband had gotten used to being 'stabbed' in the hollow of the knee by that sword when Roman wanted attention or simply was bored.
Roman ran into the kitchen again after Logan had cleaned up, wearing shoes and a red hoodie now. Virgil was right behind, one shoe on and the other in his hand.
"We're going now!" Roman shouted excitedly and then ran out of the kitchen again. Logan had been Roman's father for three years and he was still surprised at the realization of how much energy kids really have.
"You don't have to come, you can stay and take a nap or something." Virgil said while putting his other shoe on, and while that was a tempting suggestion Logan shook his head.
"No, I'll join you two, I've missed you all day." Whenever he had a tough day at work all he wanted was to come home to his family and spend time with them.
Twenty minutes later later after finally convincing Roman to leave the toy sword at home they were at the park, which was only a block away from their apartment. Logan was walking hand in hand with Virgil, Roman already having ran off and was currently climbing a bush-like tree by the playground.
Virgil was keeping an attentive eye on him, probably ready to run up to him with bandages if he fell. Roman always managed to get small cuts and scrapes when running around outside and his husband made sure to always have disney themed bandaids with him just in case.
"Dad! Dad, look!" Roman yelled, excitedly showing off that he had managed to climb up as high as possible (which was not terribly high at all, a meter and a half, maybe). Logan smiled at him and gave him a small wave. Virgil ended up helping Roman down a minute later when he got bored and he immediately rushed off towards the swings.
Logan and Virgil sat down on a bench nearby, Virgil's hand in his again as he told Logan about his day in more detail. Logan avoided doing the same, it'd only rile him up again to think about it and he'd much rather listen to Virgil talk while they waited for Roman to eventually tire himself out. Once they moved from their apartment they were definitely moving to a house, someplace with a garden where Roman could play as much as he'd want.
Virgil leaned his head on Logan's shoulder as he grumbled about all of Roman's socks disappearing so there was always only one of each. Logan was familiar with the struggle from the times he did the laundry and he was thinking of simply letting Roman wear mismatched socks every day instead, which would make things easier especially since Roman seemed to want to wear his socks like that.
"Look how high I can swing!" Roman called to them delightedly and Virgil shouted back some encouragement. A few minutes later he got bored of the swings and started playing with a boy around his age, at first building a sand town in the sandbox and then chasing each other around, laughing and having fun.
Seeing them happily play together for a long while made Logan once again entertain the thought of adopting another child in the future, give Roman a sibling to play with, another addition to their family. He and Virgil had talked about it a few times, but nothing was decided yet, and it would take a long while before that adoption got approved.
For now, though, they could perhaps set up a future playdate between Roman and this other kid, if that was something the both of them thought would be fun. Roman needed friends, he had not yet connected with his peers at his daycare much, he enjoyed running around in his own fantasy worlds too much.
Speaking of running, Roman, who was currently being chased by the other boy, stumbled over something and tumbled to the ground, causing the other boy to then stumble over him and fall too. Virgil was up from the bench and pulling out bandaids from his pocket before the boys even had the time to really register that they'd fallen, Logan close behind.
"Hey kiddos, you good?" Virgil asked carefully, because they'd both noticed that many times if a parent played it cool and didn't treat it as an emergency then small kids wouldn't be horribly upset when falling, they'd realize it wasn't something to cry much about.
"I fell." Roman said with a pout and held out his hand that he'd scraped against the ground. It wasn't bleeding but it might sting a bit.
"You want a kiss and a bandaid?" Virgil asked and got a nod, then pressing a small kiss to his sons hand and putting a bandaid where it hurt (kids loved bandaids) while Logan kneeled next to the other kid who was rubbing at his elbow with teary eyes.
"Hi, did you get hurt? Do you want a bandaid too?" He asked softly and the child nodded eagerly, bottom lip trembling. Roman sat down next to him, patting his shoulder.
"It's fine, Pat, don't cry." He said. Logan pulled up the child, Pat's (?), sleeve. He was luckily not bleeding either but Virgil let him choose a bandaid and Logan put it on.
Logan looked around the playground, only seeing one other adult there, who he assumed was this boy's mother, but she was busy trying to calm a crying baby she was carrying and was not currently looking their way.
She seemed stressed enough already and Logan saw no point in bothering her, especially as both of the boys were already forgetting about the whole thing and were on their way to the sandbox again, perhaps to continue on their sand kingdom.
"I guess we'll stay for a while longer," Virgil said as he looked at them, likely not having planned to stay outside very long, "it's nice to see him getting along with another child."
"I was just thinking the same thing. Maybe a playdate could be arranged, give them time to become friends." Logan said, giving voice to his earlier thoughts. Virgil shrugged a little, giving a wary look to the woman holding the baby. The two of them made it back to the bench where they'd been sitting a minute ago.
"Maybe, but Roman just met this other kid, like, twenty minutes ago, I'd feel pretty awkward suggesting that to his parent, what if she thinks we're creepy?" Virgil worried but Logan brushed him off.
"I can do the talking, let's not worry about that and instead enjoy this moment of not having to entertain Roman." Logan pressed a kiss to the top of his husbands head and they sat together and watched their son play and have fun.
