"The weather, Virgil. I talked about the weather!" Roman exclaimed as soon as he sat down next to him. Virgil looked up from his phone and gave Roman what must have been a rather confused look because Roman actually began explaining himself while getting his text book and a pen from his backpack.

"You know the bet? Well, I tried talking to Patton before he had to go to his class, but he was looking super cute and all I ended up saying was that the weather sucked since, you know, it's raining. I have now found out that he likes the rain. But anyway, what kind of idiot talks about the weather?" Roman whined, flipping through his text book.

"You apparently." Virgil said with a grin and Roman glared at him.

"Shut up. This is important stuff. How will he ever fall in love with me if I talk like some nervous dude in a crappy romcom. Ugh. Just because your stupid boyfriend bet me I wouldn't dare ask Patton out." Roman pulled his notebook up from his backpack and flipped it open to an empty page.

"Well, seeing as he is winning the bet I don't think he is the stupid one. Plus, you didn't have to accept that bet, this is your own fault." Virgil pointed out and Roman was just about to, most likely, argue against that when their professor came into the room and started their class.

Roman began to write down conversation topics in his notebook and Virgil resumed texting his boyfriend, hoping that the teacher would not notice his phone that he was hiding in his lap.

As soon as it was lunch break he met up with Logan who was already waiting by the entrance of the school, reading a book. He was about halfway through the book, which was impressive since when Virgil had last seen him before their first class he'd just been starting it.

"Hey, L, Roman is trying to drive me insane over that dumb bet you two made." Virgil said with a grimace, not actually irritated but annoying Roman was always fun.

"Hey! I am a joy to be around." Roman said with a pout.

"What be- oh, that thing about him asking Patton out within a week or he is a coward?" Logan chuckled, looking over at Roman who was doodling in his notebook.

"Don't you worry, I am not losing this bet. I will ask him out. Soon." Roman mumbled. Virgil discretely waved at Patton who was actually on his way up to them, not seeing any point in warning Roman. If he was lucky Roman would accidentally reveal his feelings, because that would be kind of fun to watch.

"Ooh, is that me?" Patton said, coming up behind Roman and looking over his shoulder, making Roman jump and almost drop his notebook.

"H- Hey, Patton! Um, yeah, that’s you." Roman said with a nervous laugh, flustered and shutting his notebook quickly.

"Aw, you’re so talented. I really want to see more of your art, whenever you stop being so secretive about it." Patton said, putting an arm around Roman's shoulders. Roman made a sound that sounded a lot like gay panic.

"Hey, are we going to go eat or what? I’m starving over here." Virgil complained, not wanting to stand here and watch Roman be awkward. Roman quickly agreed, starting to walk out, Patton following him, hooking his arm with Roman's. Virgil turned to Logan.

"I don’t understand how Roman doesn't know Patton likes him. Yesterday Patton was sitting in his lap and smiling the whole time while Roman took twenty minutes to explain some musical. Patton kisses Roman on the cheek when they say goodbye to each other, every day. Not to mention the way Patton always looks at him." Virgil said, slightly exasperated by his friends and their blindness.

How much gayer could they be?

"Coming from someone who did not understand I was trying to ask him out for over a month." Logan said, and Virgil scoffed.

"Well… you weren't making it obvious. How was I supposed to know?" He said to defend himself and Logan gave him a doubtful look.

"Okay, maybe you were being super obvious, but my anxiety doesn't let me believe anything positive so, again, how was I supposed to know?" Virgil defended himself and Logan's expression was mixed with amusement and worry. He shook his head at him.

"Let's just catch up to the other two before they disappear." Virgil said, seeing them going around a corner further up the street.

"My hands are cold." Logan pointed out to no one in particular and Virgil reached out to hold one of his hands. Logan's hands were practically always cold and Virgil had learnt by now that if Logan ever pointed that out it meant he just wanted Virgil to hold his hand. It was a very cute habit.

"You know you can just ask me to hold your hand?" Virgil said, looking over at Logan with a grin. His boyfriend said nothing, obviously not going to change his ways.

"Alright, where the hell did they go?" Virgil said slowly, scanning the area. How their two friends always ended up disappearing he never knew. They walked way faster than Virgil did and always got sidetracked when seeing interesting things. If there was a pet store nearby Virgil would guarantee that Patton and Roman would be found in there had they been walking anywhere near.  

"Wait, there aren't any pet stores nearby, are there?" He asked. First of all, that would mean they likely wouldn't have time left for lunch, and second of all, Patton was allergic to cats but that never stopped him from petting every cat within reach.

"Yes, there is. Take a left turn on that street and you'll find yourself right outside of it ...oh no, do you think Patton and Roman might have seen it?" Logan sighed.

"I'm counting on it. Though that means we can look at the tiny fishes while the other two cry over kittens and puppies." Virgil said, which made Logan smile a little. 

"Yes, that is true. I do enjoy looking at the fish." He said and Virgil thought that if (or rather, when) they made reality of their wish to move in together they should get some pet fish. Hand in hand they walked towards the pet shop, which did not take long.

As suspected they could see Patton through the store window, he was sitting on the floor and petting a puppy, a look on his face as if he was looking at the most perfect thing in the world. Roman was sat next to Patton, staring at him with that same look. Virgil would love to make fun of him but ever since he and Logan started dating it made him hypocritical when he scoffed at love. 

He opened the door, holding it open for Logan. Roman looked up at them when they entered, looking a little sheepish. 

"Hey guys." He said, apparently not going to apologize for just disappearing on them. Roman gave them a determined look accompanied by a confident smile.

"I'm going to do it, just watch me." He added, not even bothering to lower his voice because Patton was way too distracted by the puppy climbing into his lap to wonder what Roman was talking about.

"Ten minutes. Then we're going to Subway because I'd kill for a sub." He told the other two, hoping that they listened to him. After that he allowed Logan to drag him towards the part of the store where they had all the fish. Logan looked delighted at the slight of them, letting go of Virgil's hand to crouch down and look at a small tank with a bunch of tiny blue fishes in it.

"Did you know that fish sleep with their eyes open because they don't have eyelids? And that fish can get sunburnt?" Logan immediately rambled as if he couldn't help it.

"Fascinating." Virgil said with a small smile, not mentioning to Logan that he did know that already, because this was the third time Logan had told him that. Call him sappy, but, Virgil enjoyed listening to Logan talking about things that made him excited.

"There is this documentary about deep sea life on Netflix that I recently found out about, would you like to watch it with me?" Logan asked, looking away from the tanks. "We could do it tonight since it's friday, you can stay over."

"Yeah, sounds great." Virgil said, which made Logan smile a small but delighted smile.

"Perfect." Logan said and Virgil silently agreed. Watching documentaries with Logan had to be one of his favorite things, not because he always found the programs very interesting but it made Virgil feel happy to see how excited and amazed Logan became about it, and them watching Netflix always meant there would be cuddling. Virgil would hate for their friends to find out, but both he and Logan cuddled quite a lot when alone.

Virgil took a few steps away and put his hand to one of the tanks, then immediately regretting it and removing his hand, seeing the fingerprints he left on the glass. He rubbed them away with his hoodie sleeve, hoping none of the employees had seen it. He glanced over at Patton and Roman to see if they were ready to leave soon.

"Hey, come look at this." Virgil said, motioning for Logan to come over. The two of them looked over where their two friends were still sitting on the floor, the puppy now playfully biting on Roman's arm. Roman looked very flustered but he was talking and-

"I'd love to go out with you!" Patton yelled, loud enough for everyone in there to hear and all the four other people in the stoor turned to look at them.

"Well, seems Roman finally got the guts to ask him out." Virgil said. He wondered if this meant the two would finally stop pining after each other all the time. Then he realized they'd probably start being very affectionate instead of pining (and they were already affectionate people) and Virgil wondered if this would really be an improvement.

"Does that mean we can go and get lunch now?" Logan asked, and Virgil was reminded of how hungry he was.

"I'd sure hope so." He took Logan's hand and they walked over to the others, Virgil ready to tease Roman about how long this had taken him.
