When Virgil had hurried out into the kitchen in the middle of the night he had not exactly counted on someone else being awake, but when seeing Logan sitting by the kitchen table with a mug of something warm to drink and a book lying open in front of him Virgil stopped in his tracks and ducked his head just as Logan looked up.
"Greetings, Virgil." He said, Virgil walking past Logan and towards the sink without looking up at him. He should've gone into the bathroom to do this instead, there he would not have run into anyone else.
"Hey, um, hey." Virgil said, staring down at the floor with both his hair and his hood falling down over his eyes. He felt extremely aware of the fact that Logan was likely seeing his every move as he reached a hand out and turned the tap on carefully. He leaned forward, close to putting his face under the soft water flow.
"What are you doing?" Logan asked and Virgil didn't really want to tell him how he was going to attempt to wash a contact lens out of his eye because it had gotten stuck under his eyelid and Virgil was slightly panicking since he'd never expected a situation like this.
"Nothing." Virgil said and straightened himself back up, feeling incapable of doing anything strange while being observed.
"Forgive me if I have an extremely hard time believing that." Logan said, and Virgil stood silently for a while as he tried to decide if he should tell Logan of the lens stuck in his eye or not.
"I... might have a contact lens stuck in my eye." Virgil admitted quietly, bracing himself from the questions that Logan would surely be asking.
"Oh, well that is a struggle I became familiar with while using contact lenses a few years ago, may I help you get it out?" He asked and Virgil was so relieved over the fact that Logan hadn't asked why he was using contact lenses that he nodded before really thinking it through.
He did realize a quarter of a second later that he'd just gave Logan permission to look him in the eyes and he attempted to ignore the anxious thoughts beginning to form. At least he was glad Logan was the first to see his 'weird' eye.
"I'll need you to look up at me, and also be aware that I will have to touch your face. What sort of contact lenses do you use?" Logan said, having stood up and walked past Virgil to wash his hands.
"Um, soft." Virgil said, hoping that was the correct answer. He waited until Logan had dried his hands, sitting down on a chair by the table. He looked up at Logan when he was standing right in front of him, and Logan took one look at him before his eyebrows rose and he leaned a bit forward to look closer. Damn did he really have to put his face that close to Virgil's? He was too gay for this.
"You've got heterochromia? How fascinating!" Logan exclaimed, an excited glint in his eyes. One of his hands came up to cup Virgil's cheek and Virgil felt the soft pads of Logan's thumb and index finger under his left eye, the violet eye.
Virgil was far too startled by how close Logan suddenly was to know what to say and he didn't know what heterocomia, or whatever Logan had said, meant so he just said the first thing he could think of.
"Bitch, there is nothing hetero about me."
He saw Logan blink in momentarily confusion, then how his lips twitched in an effort not to smile.
"Heterochromia is the name of the rare condition where ones eyes have different colors. Since you apparently have a purple and a brown eye then you clearly have heterochromia." Logan explained calmly.
"Oh... okay the only hetero thing about me is my eyes then I suppose." Virgil said, arms crossing over his chest.
"But don't tell Roman because he's going to start calling me a hetero, I'm sure of it." Virgil added quickly, not because he thought Logan had any interest in spreading around how Virgil had weird eyes, but he thought that if Logan didn't know he wanted to keep it a secret then maybe he wouldn't think of what he was saying. After all Virgil was wearing contact lenses to hide that he had a purple eye (and because his sight was bad, too).
"I won't, though I'm sure he wouldn't if he knew it would upset you." Logan said, and perhaps he was right, Roman and he were much more civil these days, friends, even. No, Roman would not be mean, but Virgil wasn't tempted to let everyone know of his weird eyes just yet. They might all be a family but that didn't mean Virgil wasn't still as insecure and awkward as always.
"I assume you wear these lenses simply to make it seem like both your eyes are brown?" Logan said and Virgil quickly decided between agreeing or telling Logan more.
"Well, my eyesight is actually pretty sucky too, but I don't want to wear glasses." He said and Logan nodded, not pressuring him into telling him more. He looked closely at Virgil's eye again.
"You truly are fascinating Virgil." Logan said absentmindedly as he stared at Virgil's eyes, one of his fingertips running over his skin below his eye which tickled a bit and Virgil fought the impulse to pull himself away from Logan's touch. It would be a lie to attempt to claim he wasn't beginning to become quite flustered, but luckily Logan didn't seem to pay that any mind.
"Now, let's get that lens out, I'm sure it's not terribly comfortable having it stuck there. I'm going to be carefully massaging your eyelid and you need to blink, repeatedly, until I tell you to stop." Logan instructed and Virgil did as he was told while hoping that Logan really knew what he was doing.
"Stop." He said and Virgil froze while Logan got the contact out of his eye, and he sighed in relief, blinking a few times and enjoying not having something stuck in his eye anymore.
"Thank god, I was scared it'd get stuck behind my eye or something." Virgil said with a grimace, standing up, taking the lense from Logan and putting it in the trash.
"Actually, that cannot happen, so no need to fear." Logan said.
"Oh... good." Virgil would be keeping that in mind if this happened again, then he wouldn't almost panic because a lens was stuck. He took his other contact out with much more ease, throwing that one away too because it was annoying him that only one of his eyes could see clearly. Though it was quite annoying not to see properly with any eye either. He squinted at Logan.
"Do you have a pair of glasses?" Logan asked, and Virgil conjured up his pair instead of answering. They were the same kind as Logan and Patton had because he hadn't been able to come up with anything better and he hadn't expected anyone but him to ever see them anyway.
He put them on with only a mild feeling of embarrassment that was almost cancelled out by how nice it was to be able to see. At least he could now go back to his room, remove his make up and go to bed while pretending this whole thing never happened.
Virgil looked up at Logan again, catching him with his eyes already fixed on Virgil and it took him several moments before he realized Virgil was staring back, and he quickly averted his eyes.
"Yeah, I know, I look hella weird in glasses." Virgil said, almost tempted to take them off again.
"No, that's not what I... You look ado- you look good." Logan said, sitting down on his chair again and looking down at his book that was still lying open from before Virgil had came and interrupted his reading. Virgil could see pink on his cheeks and he didn't think he looked much different himself.
Virgil couldn't compel himself to say anything and he stood up from the chair, hands shoved deep into his pockets as he observed Logan who had gone back to reading his book. He moved around the table to where Logan was sat, pulled his hands out of his pockets and braced them against the table.
The movement made Logan look up again and they made eye contact, neither looking away. This was as good a moment as any, right? Or maybe he was being incredibly stupid now but there seemed to be no going back.
Virgil leaned down until he was less than an inch away from Logan's face and since Logan didn't move anywhere Virgil closed the distance between them, his lips on Logan's and he kissed him softly, his hand at the back of his head, in Logan's hair and the other gripping to his shoulder. Logan kissed back and Virgil felt one of his arms wrap around him as their lips moved together and it took Virgil a surprisingly big amount of willpower to end the kiss and take a step back out of Logan's reach.
"Thank you for the help with the lens. Good night, Lo." He said smiling as confidently as he could, then turning around and exiting the room, leaving Logan wide eyed and flushed bright pink.
Virgil's heart was beating hard in his chest and he wasn't sure what had compelled him to kiss Logan (except the fact that he'd had a crush on him for a while, but...), or how he was going to face him in the morning when he was surely going to overthink what he had just done.
But for now there was a small smile on his face and even though he wouldn't do so he imagined going back to the kitchen just to kiss Logan some more, but instead in his mind replaying the kiss they'd shared as he shut the door to his room and got into bed.
No need to panic just yet.

Thank you google because I know nothing about contact lenses and I will never be putting one in my eye lol
Having a binder is nice even if I'm not using it much yet, tho I wish it made it flatter, it isn't much flatter than usual, but better than nothing
Here's a blurry picture in a flattering (or should I say flattening) angle (wish it looked that good irl lol)
Can't really tell color cuz of lovely camera quality, but it's gc2b's blue half binder (dark blue v much because of Logan being my favorite lmao)
Also sjdjsks sorry this oneshot is so late
